The Royal Islander – An All Suites Resort

I did extensive research regarding hotels in the area. This was by far the most economical choice. The bell hops, front desk, restaurant were excellent. Pool bar, don't hold your breath! Transportation - Don't get sucked in like we did and get ripped off. Our hotel was 15/20 minutes away from airport and we paid $65 US. TAKE AN UBER!!! We took an Uber back to airport and it was only $15 US. Also, if you're in the downtown area by Hard Rock Cafe, take an uber. 5 minute taxi ride cost us $20 bucks, scam!!!! TAKE AN UBER EVERYWHERE YOU GO Bell hops - Very accommodating. We needed to store our bags since we got in early and also at the end of our trip. Always willing to help. Front desk - Extremely professional and helpful. Answered all of our questions and informed us with everything we needed. All reviews are correct regarding "room change" if staying a Saturday night. Not convenient but understood once explained. Restaurant - All servers were both attentive and professional. Pool bar- They ignore, ignore, and ignore some more. If you need a drink, go to the restaurant bar. Food- Sub par and expensive. Picked "breakfast" included option, not the all-inclusive. Did a lot of excursions outside hotel. Saved a lot of money and the food was 10 times better. Hotel location - Need to take a taxi/uber as there isn't anything around the hotel. Hotel room- Very outdated but comfortable. Both room shower tubs clogged. Our view was amazing!!

Le resto ferme tôt et le bar aussi. sinon, le personnel était gentil et la prestation de services très bien. Les installations sont confortables, belle piscine, belle plage. Supermarché très pratique.

The rooms and hotel are nice, and the staff are really good at customer service. However, there isn't enough space for everyone staying there to use the pool and beach. Everyone claims a spot at 3:00 in the morning and then leaves for the day or goes back to sleep or whatever. There are tons of staked out spaces and no one using them. For guests who actually want to use the facilities, there's no room unless you get a spot in the middle of the night. That is just ridiculous and unfair. We had a nice time, but we will never return to this hotel.

Very nice hotel. Our room was on 8th floor and ocean front with great view of beach and ocean. Large spacious, comfortable room. Large swimming pool. Safe box in the room. Grocery store on the premise. Provides free shuttle to royal sands and royal cancun. Safe area. Public bus service outside hotel. Highly recommend. Will stay again.

The room was very comfortable and all the food options were great. Receptionist and wait staff were all very friendly and helpful. The stretch of beach at this resort is much better than most of the other resorts on the strip.

Walking into the lobby was concerning - it smelled of antiseptic cleaner, and was severely outdated. The receptionist, however, was very pleasant and check-in was easy. The room is also outdated, but very clean and the ocean view from the 8th floor was absolutely amazing. The full kitchen is well stocked. The resort grounds are also very clean. The little market in the lobby has a lot of stuff at reasonable prices. We enjoyed the pool and the activity staff were fun and nice. We only at the Cayo Largo restaurant and it was good. The beach is also really nice, equipped with showers to rinse sand/salt off. There is a very steep drop off into the water on the left side of the beach. We stayed in the middle where you could wade into the water for a long ways before it got deep. I liked this place. We were only here for a brief 2-day layover but would happily stay here again for a longer stint.

If you have bad knees or any walking limitations this isn’t the place to stay. I hate the fact that it is far from the bus lines and hard to get to the main road so that you could explore. They only allow taxis who overcharge on the property. Front desk is rude but the wait staff is amazing. The swim up bar closes way early as do the restaurants. I won’t stay here again. Also, the balcony was a sham, can’t even fit a chair it’s so slim

Great size rooms, easy beach access, nice pool with swim up bar, small convenience shop on-site, lack luster dinning and drinks. The rooms are dated but in good condition with nice patios.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms and common areas are impeccably clean. There is not much to do on-site. Guests, however, have access to two nearby resorts that offer more activities and restaurant options. It's not luxurious. This is an older yet well-maintained resort. If you are looking for a quiet and low-key stay, the Royal Islander would be a good choice,

Ellos deberian mencionar que la mayoria de los huespedes son personas de la tercera edad. No fueron a limpiar la habitacion dos dias. Los platos del buffete tiene pocas opciones y ninguna opcion vegetariana.

We were excited to stay at the Royal Islander. However, we were disappointed to find the pool infested with bugs the first day of arrival and our kids couldn't swim. Our room had a bad smell that came from the carpet and furniture. Lastly, we were told we had to change rooms after the first night. Not a pleasant start to our trip. We ended up changing our hotel due to these disappointments. We ended up having a much better experience at a different hotel.

Rooms faced the ocean, service was speedy, questions answered quickly, beautifully maintained rooms, clean pool. A dream to stay there!

The suites are rather dated, but well kept. Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the resort.

I had a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly. There was no problems one little problem. The bathrooms can use an upgrade that’s about it though.

If you have bad knees or any walking limitations this isn’t the place to stay. I hate the fact that it is far from the bus lines and hard to get to the main road so that you could explore. They only allow taxis who overcharge on the property. Front desk is rude but the wait staff is amazing. The swim up bar closes way early as do the restaurants. I won’t stay here again. Also, the balcony was a sham, can’t even fit a chair it’s so slim

The rooms did not reflect what they showed on expedia.and they have a very steep incline to the entrance of the hotel and a golf cart is not provided for someone to come and get you. Also,an ocean view is actually a partial view. if you want an ocean view You must select beach front As well,when we first arrived, there was a very strong overwhelming sweet smell in the vestibule. Would I stay here again. No!

Fabulous staff who are all about making the guest feel like they are at their home away from home!

Did not know that this was a timeshare property and did not know that they can change your rooms if you stay there on a saturday. I did learn my lesson as to do more research. I did not appreciate the staff and how he entered and sat down in our room to try to sell us a timeshare. After we told him no, the staff did not share anymore information about the property and how it included breakfast or any of the other amenities. They were unprofessional and I will not be coming back. The other royal properties seem like a huge upgrade over this one.

The Royal Islander experience was top notch! Staff was exceptional,patient,helpful and kind. Loved, Loved, Loved this resort!

This was my second time staying at the royal Islander, Me and my husband knew we wanted to stay at the royal Islander because of how friendly and welcoming the staff are.

Rude staff at counter, cable was down for 3 days nobody did anything about it. Overprice breakfast and not accommodating!

It took forever to check in because they only had one one person checking in people and he was pissed. Be prepared to answer redundant questions including your profession! Move on to the next place!

Unprofessional and incompetent at reception desk, average service time 15 mins for each guest, my check in took 45 mins (only e people before me), I was asked 300 dollars deposit, credit card and debit card on MasterCard circuit did not work (never happened before), ATM not working, left alone with my own problem for 2 hours to try to find a way to pay the deposit. It was a nightmare, after 15 hours flight I was totally ignored at the check in 'cause I could not find a way to pay the deposit. Ventilator was very loud, could not sleep, a constant thrill from landphone every 30 mins, not sure what that was.

I liked the hotel and access to beaches. Staff at the front desk wasn’t so friendly.

This hotel is beautiful, we absolutely loved it and the stunning views of the beach are amazing, the staff is great and friendly as well, there is a convenience store at hotel and 3 restaurants but if you want to go shopping or to other restaurants you will need transportation, I recommend the bus it’s like a five min walk and cost 12 pesos per person, under $1, don’t worry there are many tourists one the bus

All inclusive resort don't included any food and beverage. The room condition a little old. Far away from main street.

Clean property, located on the beach, but an odd walk to get to/from the main road. Rooms were spacious and clean, service was excellent except for one specific server. Overall, we enjoyed our time.

I imagine that because the building is so old there are many visual details to fix and thus make it more attractive. What I did not like is that the shopping area is more than half an hour away, and you have to rent a car or public transport, which is not good at all.

The resort is wonderful! The staff is great. The rooms are nice. The hotel is set back from the main street so it makes eating out a little challenging. The restaurant on site was the only negative. Their breakfast buffet is wonderful; there are so many choices. It’s worth the price. But, the regular menu is very limited and the food is very blend and the meat is over cooked.

Good value for money - great hotel and restaurant staff- only here for a 1 night stopover enroute to Europe after spending 3 weeks throughout Mexico . Suited us well - only complaint not of hotel doing is the ridiculously high taxi fare from the airport to the hotel -20 minutes drive US$ 85 —- turns me off coming to this city to spend any money

Beautiful aesthetics but basic experience The staff is most of the time just selling your packages, gets irritating after a while. Very pricy restaurant but very basic food. The waiters will not refill any buffet ever and you’ll leave hungry n disappointed. Daily same breakfast buffet Nthg new. At times when you have buffet it’s super expensive and they say kitchen is closed only buffet is served thus forcing customers to have no option. Silly excuses to not accept pesos and mostly USD at reception, other places in resort accept pesos. Basically very luxurious VIP pricing but basic experience. Will definitely book a better resort for the price next time.

The building is old and limited entertainment activities. Restaurant foods are OK. You can find better food and better price outside the restaurant.

There is nowhere else to go eat. The food there is super expensive tacos are the cheapest food you could buy anywhere and I paid 25 dollars for 3 tacos and 3 quesadillas crazy. The staff members were not the friendliest and the pool was a bit dirty.

I like service ,views facilities etc. I did not like concierge service was not useful. Food not so good and 2 one reataurant open.The rest was enjoyable and beautiful views

I liked that we had access to all royal locations in the area and they were all accessible via a free shuttle that runs every hour. The accommodations exceeded my expectations. I found the food to be very expensive and the folks in our group with dietary restrictions or allergies had a hard time because allergens were not clearly labeled on buffet items.
