I shared detailed feedback with the hotel. Consistent traveler here with over 30 countries experience. We all know Iceland is more expensive than other areas; please consider this a hostel/low budget hotel quality. The location is good, close to areas that one will want to visit. Although the town is so small that people who are fitter/enjoy walking will find nearly everything is in close distance. The elevator is reliable for those who have mobility issues. For people who have a one night stay and/or are on an extended, budget trip with no kids or elderly folks, this can be a reasonable stop over option.

Parking situation was miserable, and was one of our biggest daily expenses. Staff was wonderful and kind. As far as the room, we got what we paid for. Cots and a shared bathroom. Shower smells like sulfur, and is very small. Breakfast and parking are not included and expensive, but location is fantastic. Overall 3 stars, people were nice and it was generally what we signed up for. I’d recommend bringing shower shoes and an extra towel for the floor!

This property is in the city - but not downtown. Parking is hard to come by and charged by the hour in the city so keep that in mind. My room here was a literal dorm room. No window, tiny, shared bathroom. But i was aware of that. If you're trying to see the beauty of Iceland on a budget and need a place to stay for your first night in the city, this place is affordable.

The man on reception was very nice to deal with, both happy and helpfull. It isnt the quietest due to its location on a busy road. Overall for accommodation on a budget its great, id stay there again. Considering its a shared bathroom and seperate shower room and access to a shared kitchen iys supprisingly clean and tidy throughout.

Helt grei overnatting med hyggelig betjening. Stort sett rent, men dusjen ser ikke bra ut... Gjestehuset ligger rett ved busstopp. Hvis du har bestilt buss til flyplassen, kommer en annen buss og henter deg her og kjører deg til flybussen. Beregn minst en time til flyplassen.

The first two nights all fine. The last two nights not as good. No hot water on my floor. One filthy toilet was not cleaned during my two night stay there. The managers were not at their desk. I had to complain through an intercom system. All the shower cabins are rusty and require replacement.

The location of this stay is fantastic and that’s the only positive thing I have to say. My bed had dried blood on the sheets stained, dried blood on one of the towels. The fan was broken does not work in 419. The rooms were extremely warm at night and you will be hot.

We stayed here for one night, on a Saturday. Our room was on the 4th floor and faced west, towards the (non) setting sun. When we walked into the room it was uncomfortably warm. The heaters were not on, it was the greenhouse effect of a wall of windows facing the sun all day, even though the drapes were all pulled closed. We could open two windows slightly to let a bit of cooler air in, but had to keep the drapes completely closed, and cover the mirror with a towel because it was reflecting the sun into the room. This hotel is on a pretty busy street, with a bus route, and at least on a Saturday people were down on the street talking and shouting late into the night. Street cleaners must have cleaned every inch of the roadway during the night as the noise went on for a long time. The beds sagged a bit, so not the most comfortable, but not terrible. The drapes aren't quite close enough to the window to block out the light at night (some hotels are much better at this). The bedroom had a small sink, which was convenient since the bathroom were shared. The bathroom cleanliness was so so. The showers were not inviting, as the grout was moldy, see pictures. I guess you get what you pay for.

Okay place for a one night stay as it is right in Reykjavik it made walking everywhere really easy. Our room was on the 3rd floor which was sweltering hot so we had to leave the windows open and then just listen to the city noise all night. It worked for one night.

Definitely a good and safe place for solo travelers! I will say the bed had a loose board that I poked my finger on a couple times but outside of that the views from my room were stunning!

My expectations were low, but I was satisfied with my stay. This place is older and basic, but it was clean and in a great location. If you are a light sleeper, be aware you will hear some road noise from the traffic. All and all I would stay again.

On a very busy corner, and every street noise could be heard all night long. Sheets had a tear in them. The heat was up so high that it made it impossible to sleep with a sheet on.

Hotel cancelled reservation because credit card « did work » I was in transit therefore didn’t know there was an issue until I got there at 11pm. Couldn’t find another hotel( tried 4 hotels then gave up). Credit card was fine- Charged taxi back to airport $260 (more than the cancelled room charge) and no issues. I receive email with check in information from 101 guesthouse same day they canceled

I guess I really didn't know what a 'Guesthouse' was in the Icelandic sense. This is a hostel where you can get your own room. I had a single room. It had no TV, no temperature control, no adequate bedding, with the wind howling it is not quiet, etc. It was clean and since I was only there 2 nights, it was adequate, nothing more. No one is at the desk the vast majority of the time. The location is good. Perhaps by Icelandic Guesthouse standards this is fine but by most others I would say it is not.

Perfect spot for our one-night layover in Reykjavik. Hallgrímskirkja and the main downtown - very walkable. Bear bus stop for several routes, made getting to CrossFit Reykjavik very easy!

The location of 101 Guesthouse is great. Walkable distance to lots of shops and restaurant on the Main Street of Reykjavik. The receptionist is so nice that she allows me to check in a bit earlier upon my arrival so that I can save time for sightseeing. The room is not spacious but enough for one or two nights stay.

Exceptional friendly staff, comfortable bed, great views, great location. simple no frills room, very basic yet, good value. Towels very thin tattered and only 2 provided. We were only there for a few hours so not important. Excellent breakfast options either at Guesthouse or close by.
