Brooks Guesthouse Bristol

I stayed in the caravan on the roof as it was something a little different. The hotel inside looked nice and clean. The outside on the rooftop did let it down. Just lacked a nit of maintenance. The caravan itself was nice and cozy with a really good shower although small but i didnt expect it to be. Plenty of options for food in the area plus they serve breakfast. Overall really good value for money. Parking is a short walk and costs £15 but i knew that prior

I really enjoyed my stay in the cozy rocket caravan on the roof of the hotel. Very unique experience! Great location and friendly staff and atmosphere.

The rooftop Airstream caravans sounded like lovely quirky accommodation, and having lived previously on a boat, I'm happy in small spaces. This one was looking very tired, though. The curtains were missing hooks, there was dirt and fluff in the corners, loose hooks, and – crucially on a baking day when I arrived – the electric cooling fan mentioned in the description was missing. The guy on reception provided one, but it wasn't working properly. He promised to take another one up for me, but didn't, necessitating back and forth to the roof and back down to reception more times than was necessary. Especially when there were 'wet paint' warnings on the final (narrow) staircase. The shower was a decent size, but the bathroom sink was tiny – almost too small to brush your teeth in, and the plug did not retain water for long enough to wet a facecloth. The location on the roof was also amazingly noisy, as my Airstream directly overlooked an outdoor disco area below, which kept going until the early hours every night of my three-night stay. There was also no security chain on the inside of my door, and the lock was very fiddly. The first time I came to leave after locking it from the inside, I thought I was stuck inside and might have to ring reception from my mobile for assistance. I managed to operate it in the end, but if there'd been an emergency, getting out might have taken longer than was safe. So, overall, a nice idea, but in need of a thorough spring clean and refresh.

Great hotel in the heart of Bristolt. Clean room, quiet nights sleep and great courtyard. There is no parking but you do get a discount at the local NCP.

We stayed in the 20ft Rocket on the roof. It was smaller than expected, but really great for 1 night. Staff were great and the place is very quirky and laid back. Location is amazing for fantastic food stalls, clubs and bars.

Overall, a good experience and I would happily stay here again. The courtyard area gives a feeling of serenity in the busy Old City. The check-in experience was simple and painless. I stayed in room 19 which had an internal view from the window, meaning street noise was very much at a minimum. The room did have some peeling wallpaper, mould above the window and some areas could have been cleaner - but nothing major. The room was comfortable and of a good size, bed was comfy. I had breakfast in the morning which was freshly cooked and tasty, 8/10. The only issue was that the breakfast was mispriced in the guest book, so I was asked to pay more than was advertised. The staff member this time was a little cold and possibly irritated when I refused, but they relented in the end.

Due to a popular event in the centre of Bristol, accommodation choices were limited. When I found the rocket caravan available on the roof of the hotel for an ok price it was a no-brainer. We arrived early and asked to pop our bags behind reception which wasn’t an issue, and headed out to hit the shops. On arrival back to the to check in, the young lad explained the keys situation and pointed us in the direction of the stairs. Polite enough, but he needs a confidence boost to be more engaging for sure. The rocket caravan itself was definitely different; we loved it. Small as you would imagine but it had everything you needed for a nights sleep. The bathroom was extra tiny though - not a complaint - but a real squeeze. Bed was comfy, heaters for winter, fans available for summer. Unfortunately it hammered down with rain in the early hours so sleep was limited. We loved it though; like I said, definitely different. We didn’t have breakfast and there’s so much choice as soon as you step outside the guesthouse. We did enjoy some late night drinks from the honestly bar which you write down and pay for on check out. Check out was with a more experienced member of staff and super quick. Would I stay here again, absolutely!

Only stayed for one night, arrived fairly late, but receptionist was very good, accommodation was on the roof(airstream caravan) very nice.

This guest house is perfectly situated for the hippodrome theatre, a food hall selling all kinds of fantastic street food as well as lots of lovely restaurants on the way to the theatre. We booked one of the small caravans on the roof which was very cramped. We wouldn't book one of those again but we will definitely be returning to this lovely little guest house again very soon.

My first solo night stay and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience here! All the staff were lovely and made me feel very welcome. I booked this place on the day of travel at a very reasonable price, and they were still accommodating enough to give me a later check out time with no extra charge. The guy on the night shift was an absolute legend and chatted to me for a while when I got back from a night out, he immediately made me feel at ease. Please pass on a good word for him from me! No complaints with the room itself either. It was a decent size and very clean despite having mixed reviews. Comfortable/soft bed, plenty of storage and a full length mirror. The location is right in the heart of the bars, restaurants and shops, but secluded enough to provide privacy. I was out for majority of the night so I can’t comment on the noise, but the courtyard seems to separate the street from the place very well to drown some of this out. I felt very safe with separate keys for the gate, the reception and my room. If I wanted to be nitpicky, the shower pressure wasn’t amazing and there was no hand soap in the room, but this wasn’t an issue as I’d brought my own. The room was very warm and they provide a small fan for this. I can imagine on the hotter days this would be uncomfortable as there is limited airflow. My stay at Brooks really surprised me, I feel like this is a hidden gem. It was exactly what I needed and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Lovely staff and the location was great. Decided to stay in one of the rockets which I really enjoyed as a unique experience The facilities needed updating. The bathroom door held together by Velcro and tired sofas and just general wear and tear in places. Generally clean however there was dirt and grime in places. Just needs a proper deep clean

Great location in old Bristol, but no nearby parking. Also, our room smelled of cat urine, although we were able to air it out. We were also awoken in the middle of the night by loud patrons of a close bar.

We arrived at 14.00hrs and our room was ready. The room was warm and well presented. At closer inspection the carpet was very dirty and needed a good clean or at least a vacuum. The shower doors dirty and the rubber seals have come away from the doors. The noise from outside is the biggest issue. The guest house is in the middle of the action, with all the clubs and pubs closing late so alot of out side noise. The road sweeper turns up early hours in the morning which wakes you up. The the guest who smoke sit outside in the court yard taking again this wakes you. So you get little sleep. The bed was comfortable but the pillows are deadful, very soft like sleeping on fresh air. There was transfer of bodily hair from the carpet, to socks to the bed as it was so dirty.

Clean room, easy check in, staff are nice. Corridor outside our room smelt a bit damp so probably could do with being aired out.

This hotel was a great price for the convenience of the location, I was able to walk to both venues for the concerts I attended, and great food is a stone's throw away. The question you have to ask yourself is how often are you going to be in your room? It's pretty loud until about 3am, so I'd say it's a better place if you're in Bristol to party. Also, there is a overwhelming stench of sewage that comes from the shower at times, the longest stint being for about 12 or so hours on my stay. So again, ask yourself how often you're actually going to be in your room.

Everything seemed fine when we checked in, desk staff were a little shy but that's hardly the end of the world. It was only when we went to bed that there was an issue. On going to bed and taking the duvet off we found that there was no actual fitted sheet on the bed, so it was just the mattress protector (which barely fitted and fell off two corners in the night resulting in us lying on bare mattress). Come the morning we found the mattress under the bed to be pretty dirty with many dark marks Given when we went to bed it was too late to question this so we just had to accept it for the night. To make things worse when we actually got in bed the mattress was completely taco'ed , collapsing in The middle . It needs replacing yesterday , even the crappiest Travelodge has normal mattress's! Come the morning I raised the issue with the desk staff who told me to go direct to Expedia (this seemed a bit of a half arsed fob off) . The hotel otherwise seemed fine but given the state of our bed I wouldn't recommend it. (Definitely not room 10 anyway)

Room was way too hot, it was really uncomfortable and I had trouble sleeping even with windows open (heating was definitely off). Details showed fan provided, not true the case so misleading. Photos showed the room bigger than actual size. Reception staff on day of check in acted like he did not want to be there, did not say about the wifi password. I would not recommend the place to anyone, save your money for elsewhere, surprised of the good ratings given.

V well placed central location but also meant lots of street activity till late so noisy. So had choice of open window & noise, or stuffy as room was warm. Room was good with v comfy bed, but poor pillows. Generally good value

The place looks lovely, and is nicely decorated. Shower was great, and bathroom enough space. However I banged my leg several times on the bed, as the space around it is super close to the TV stand. The bed matress is quite soft, which isn't ideal for me, but many others might love. My biggest issue was that the WIFI was non existent in the evening of my stay and in the morning the day after so I had to keep connecting up my phone to laptop to work. All is all, it is a nice enough place, but very little space, and not ideal at all if you are a business traveller.

It's a great spot in central Bristol. Easy to get around from here. As it's the centre and near a lot of bars it can be quite be quite noisey.

Had a great time pub crawling Bristol :)) (Best pub The Bag of Nails but plenty of other good places). The guesthouse is a perfect place to stay ...very friendly vibe ...very fair price ...the triple room with 2 single beds and a single sofabed was so spacious and clean and comfortable!!

We were completely hapoy with our stay, lovely room and friendly staff. But since returning home, I have found that I have been charged twice and while the hotel acknowledged my original query, I have had no further updates and they never answer the phone. So I am currently out of pocket with no way of following this up!

Stay was average. Tv didn’t work. Staff complaining about their job and other staff members in public areas. Didn’t interact with me as a customer.

We loved the Brooks Guesthouse because of the city centre location, friendly staff and well appointed rooms. Although the rooms are inevitably small, given the location, maximum use is made of the available space. We plan to stay here whenever we are in Bristol.

Fabulous location for a city break. Literally amongst all the restaurants and bars and yet in a nice quiet location.

The guest house is on an excellent position right in the centre of Bristol. The room was comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was very good - superb sausage sandwich.

A return visit. This place is lovely. Staff are super-friendly and helpful. Bed is very comfortable and I love the honesty bar - such a good idea and a great selection of drinks (the white Rioja was a good choice)! Yet to try breakfast but next time… it looks lovely!

A different experience staying in a city centre rooftop caravan. Quirky and very enjoyable. Dont miss the breakfast. Friendly and helpfull staff. Cleanliness and hygene was excellent.

Lovely stay here. Very pleasant guest house which is ideally located to explore what Bristol has to offer, especially if you like to be close to bars and restaurants for evenings. We were checked in and out by the same lovely lady on reception who also helped give us some dinner venue suggestions. We had breakfast which was very enjoyable. The site is having some building work/replacement windows at the moment which did cause some noise starting at around 9am but otherwise it was a lovely quiet stay and we won’t hesitate to book again if we have need to visit the area again.

The staff were especially kind and very helpful for anything we needed! We stayed in the camper on top of their roof. It was a fun and easily accessible place and we would recommend it to everyone! The breakfast was very good and freshly made!

Worth the extra time it took too find this place , Staff very friendly, hotel very clean and excellent breakfast
