Hotel Piedra Escondida

My son and I had a great stay for four nights. The staff was attentive, and the structure of the propinase it very convenient. They have parking across the street, the restaurant is just across the patio from the 8 rooms, and the beach is less than one minute from the rooms.

Small hotel (only 8 rooms) located on a beautiful beach, with very helpful friendly staff. Can hear the sound of the waves from Adirondack chairs in front of room and see the beach and palm trees. Couldn’t be a more perfect stay! Just beautiful.

We have travelled a lot but this has been one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The accommodation is rustic and charming but not cheap quality at all. Little touches are thought through like foot baths at each the little apartment. The beach is private and so pretty. Sadly a lot of plastic waste litters the beach but that isn’t the hotels fault. It washes in from the sea. The real highlight is their menu. Breakfast lunch and dinner! Every meal is extraordinary. The chef is amazing! We went out for dinner one night and never did it again. Had every meal at Piedra Escondida because it was so good. The included breakfasts are enormous and delicious. Food is absolutely stunning. Martin was so helpful as well helping us arrange economical taxis for some longer day trips to Coba and early morning taxis for us to meet our group tour to chichen itza. I would stay at Piedra Escondida again in a heartbeat. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Muchos Gracias.

Beautiful boutique hotel in an immaculate location. Private beach cove, enough loungers for every guest, so you can relax and never have to wake up early and claim a spot. Breakfast on the beach was delicious. Service great. It’s a simple spot with no frills, but that’s part of why it’s great. It’s away from the hordes of influencers, it’s quiet, it feels organic and connected to nature.

The hotel is on the quiet side of hotel zone - very peaceful but not much to see or do on that side. If you like quiet peaceful stress free...this is the spot.

The hotel, food, view and the location were perfect. The restaurant was unique and delicious. Ask the chef to make you a seafood dinner of his choice and you will not be disappointed. We loved the simple comfort/luxury of the room and the spectacular view/access to salt water. Having great food, drinks, a private beach on property plus a parking lot for a rental car was great and allowed us to visit ruins, town, etc. We rented bikes and biked all over the hotel zone. Also we were able to shop in some cute shops near by. Close to trendy Kintoh and safe places to run/bike in the mornings if you want. We would stay there again! Perfect getaway.

Martin is a cool host and easy going. He made the stay very nice. My only compliment is there is no pool and there isn’t clean beach you have to drive a mile or so down the road and pay for a beach club.

Great place ro stay except that they dont have a pool even though one is ahown on the pool pictures.

Location & service can’t by beat - on the beach, lovely setting & view, not crowded or loud, comfortable, yummy adjoining restaurant plus dining & shopping walkable. Only drawback was no pool & the beach had a lot of seaweed, but one staff worked tirelessly to remove it & a common problem for all of the Yucatán. Without being asked, they made my daughter’s 16th birthday extra special! Would return in a heartbeat.

The hotel is right in front of ocean. We loved sleeping to the sound of waves crashing on to the beach. Food was fabulous! Only disappointment was the inability to get into the water because of seaweed and no pool.

From the moment we got there to the very last moment of check out, my mom, friend, and I had the most great experience. Our room was not only super spacious and well-maintained, but it was also very clean and up-to-date. The daily cleaning service was exceptional. Every morning we were greeted with friendly smiles from the staff, and I highly recommend eating breakfast there because the food was so delicious. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner there and when I say that this place is hands-down probably the best place that we’ve eaten since being here in Tulum! The flavors and the consistency of the presentation throughout the whole week a free breakfast was honestly just so rewarding and a nice touch to staying here. The customer service was exceptional 10/10 from Nayeli, Daniel, Martin, and plenty of the other staff. Much thanks to the cooks because the food like we said before was the best we’ve had in all of Tulum. I highly recommend staying here because not only is it super authentic and unique. They have the best and most attentive staff, delicious and variety of food, and the location I promise you is like no other. This is well worth your buck and I highly recommend staying here anytime you visit. I just want to say personally thank you so much for such a beautiful and welcoming stay!My mom and I made so many memories here and we can’t get over the view from our room! I’m definitely coming back to visit soon!

Staff was very helpful and courteous. The property rooms all faced the ocean and were clean. Easily convenient to walk everywhere

Upon checking in, we were greeted by the friendliest staff and welcomed to this beautiful slice of paradise on the beach. Wake up and have a coffee on the porch overlooking the sea, or take in the calm sounds of the waves at night before going to sleep. There are a few places to eat and drink within walking distance and everything else is a quick taxi ride away, with plenty of taxis driving by to pick up (or the front desk will happily call one for you). We ate dinner at the restaurant the night we checked in and the food was really good. Only gave 4 stars for cleanliness because it’s on the beach, so you will inevitably track some sand into your room. The staff was great about cleaning, though, and maintaining the property overall. They were doing some hammering in the early morning in the room below ours, but they stopped immediately when we went down and asked them to quiet down. Other 4 star rating was for eco-friendliness, since there’s no method for recycling, but that may just be a Mexico limitation. This place is well worth the price. We would definitely come back and stay here!

I recently stayed at Hotel Piedra Escondida in Tulum, and I can’t say enough good things about this charming, small hotel. With only 10 rooms, it offers an intimate, tropical vibe that feels like a hidden paradise. The property is incredibly well-maintained, spotlessly clean, and the service is absolutely top-notch. Martin, the manager, truly went above and beyond to accommodate all our special requests, making our stay even more memorable. This was my third time visiting Tulum, but my first experience staying in this quieter part of the hotel zone, near the ruins and the public beach. It’s such a peaceful area, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the south side. The only minor downside is that the beach here isn’t as stunning as some others in Tulum, but that’s not a big issue since you can always visit one of the many beach clubs nearby. For the price, the excellent service, and the overall experience, this hotel is absolutely worth it. To top it all off, the food is delicious, and the included breakfast was a wonderful way to start each day. I highly recommend Hotel Piedra Escondida for anyone looking for a tranquil, high-quality stay in Tulum. I’ll definitely be back!

The hotel is located directly by the beach. The style is cosy, comfortable and Tulum- authentic. Direct and private access to the beach, sunshades and beach chairs provided. Excellent breakfast and food in general, fair prices. The place would benefit from a deep cleaning, except the restaurant which was always impeccable. I would recommend this place for those who seek a romantic location by the beach, far from the modern fancy style that so many of the new hotels offer- and which is reflected in their pricing.

A little slice of heaven on the beach! Beautiful spot of a quiet beach where turtles come to nest every year! Very well run, super clean and right on a beautiful beach! We loved our stay here and we'll be back! Easy to get to by car and a couple places nearby to walk to for dinner. Little shops on the street. What Tulum used to be before the mega resorts took over!

We loved our stay at this hotel for three nights. Our room had an incredible ocean view and we could hear the waves in bed, which was special. It’s set on the beach so you walk across the sand to get to your room each evening and breakfast each morning. The room was big and very clean, and the hotel itself felt very relaxing and charming. The hotel team were all so friendly and helpful. Breakfast each morning was delicious with lots of choice, and the happy hour cocktails were great too! There are restaurants within walking distance from the hotel and it’s easy to get taxis too, although these aren’t cheap. We rented bikes from across the road to visit a cenote and the ruins. We preferred staying in this quiet part of Tulum rather than the party zone.

If opening up your door and being right on the beach is your thing, than you’ll love this place. The room was spotless and our one meal at the restaurant was superb. The sole drawback was the constant winds. The ocean was just too choppy to ever enjoy a swim.

Like everything in Tulum this place is pretty pricey. The staff are great, the rooms are nothing fancy and the drinks are very expensive -- $20+ CAD for a Margarita is just weird. Location is terrific right by the ocean but be sure to focus meal budget in town where the meals are far more reasonable than along this strip. Best to have access to a car as there isn't much to do here besides enjoy the beautiful views and take in the beach air.

CONS: no fridge and tv in the room, bath shower is not strong, servers a little slow on the orders and if you don’t tip them every beer you ask they make no effort to attend you. PROS: Private beach, good food, everything clean and awesome room service, ac works really good, wifi on point and a lot to do around the hotel

Average place. Lots of sand getting into into the room. Bed was rock hard.

I loved this place. I stayed here before going to a retreat and it was exactly what I needed. I stayed in the superior double room. I had a view of the ocean & steps from the ocean. There is a small private beach but because of the seaweed wasn’t swimmable. There’s access to a public beach a short walk away and I swam there . The food was amazing , the breakfast was included and there were many options for breakfast. If you’re looking for quiet this place is it. I went to sleep with the sound of the ocean which was very relaxing. The Staff was always friendly and helpful, Nayeli was lovely and always very helpful. Will definitely return!

No frills, simple hotel that feels authentically Mexican. Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful little private beach. Great location. Only complaint is that when we were there, there was very loud club music playing at night until 2am. We were traveling with our son so putting him to bed at 8pm was challenging.

This is such a beautiful boutique hotel. The staff were amazing and so helpful. We stayed in the room above the restaurant and our A/C was having issues the first few days, but eventually it worked great. The best part is the private beach. The restaurant is very expensive on site but there are lots of other options (Matteo's has awesome tacos and Mena next door is very good too). If you book the Chichen Itza tour don't worry about paying extra for hotel pickup, as the road is too narrow for bus pick up. Just get the Super Aki pick up (you can easily get a taxi). If I ever go back to Tulum I will definitely stay here again!

My second floor room was very comfortable with a lovely balcony perfect for staring out at the sea and listening to the sounds of the waves and birds. All the staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. The meals at the hotel's restaurant, Molcajete, were fabulous, and I enjoyed a wonderful grilled octopus and a tangy, fresh ceviche with a basket of tortilla chips on the beach one day. The breakfasts were all amazing too. The outdoor dining patio is gorgeous. Highly recommended.

Beautiful location. Water was murky from seaweed. Bothered by mosquitos in the room at night. Good water pressure with hot water. Internet was weak and only available in the lobby.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights here. Amazing view, really cool property, fantastic restaurant, and really friendly staff. They take good care of the place. There are 2 things that could be improved on - the a/c in our room blew right on me in bed and the water pressure was a little low. These are really minor things completely out weighed by the positives.

The photos uploaded by the hotel do NOT do this place justice!!! This is a hidden gem to say the least. Ideal location if you want to stay in the boujee part of Tulum with all the high-end restaurants / beach clubs. These rooms, which there are only 8 of them, are on a private beach. If you are on the bottom floor, you literally walk out of your room into the sand. Just a few yards away is the Caribbean sea. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. Rooms are nice and cozy. A delicious breakfast is included every morning with your stay. Parking is free. It’s very quiet here. No one bothers you. They have plenty of private huts to lay under and plenty of beach chairs. No additional cost for that. I can say enough about this place.

Perfect location, but a pity that there was too much seaweed. The hotel does a lot to remove it, but in our case it was impossible to enter the water. Appartments are very nice, but when you are a light sleeper, ask for a room that is not close to the road behind. For us it was no problem.

Beautiful room and view. Beach needs work, not possible to swim during evening, too much seaweed in water. Sunbeds also super cheap and not comfy. Breakfast was very limited and menu felt very limited for lunch and dinner as well. Would probably pick something further with a non private beach and better sunbeds if we went again.

We loved our stay at the boutique hotel Piedra Escondida. The hotel is simple and nostalgic, almost a step back in time. The staff are super friendly and the included a la carte breakfast is wonderful. We felt very welcome and safe here.
