Good location with many nice restaurants and bars within a short walk....but there was no noise from any of these Ample Parking is also a great bonus. We enjoyed a cooked breakfast to start our day off which was very nice

Check-in process was confusing. Ashley hotel has a short check-in window; late arrivals have to check in at its parent hotel. Complimentary breakfast was nice. Breakfast room was so inviting, and the breakfast service staff were a highlight due to their warmth and friendly manner.

The property is older but overall well maintained and clean. It was well heated. Free parking and breakfast included made it good value for money. I had a good sized room - clean with small ensuite bathroom. My room was at the back of the property and fairly quiet . All the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good. Good pub across the road.

Room a bit dated, however all clean and comfortable . This is a sister hotel to the Arundel 10 mins walk up the road. The reception has limited opening times but this wasn’t a problem as the staff at the Arundel were very accommodating especially as I was early for check in. All in all good.

The room is far better than premier inn. Breakfast (full English or Continental) was included and served by a waitress and excellent. Parking was free. Access to the city center was easy (20 mins walk). Our room was disturbed by the kitchen extractor fan in the early morning. But it still deserves a 5 star :-)

The hotel is a little dated the staff were friendly and helpful. When I came to check out reception was closed and is every morning, so getting a receipt even after messaging was impossible. Good parking. Not sure I would stay again.

Reception and breakfast staff were lovely, but reception is only open between 3 and 9pm. Soundproofing between rooms is poor. It's a lovely walk along the river into the centre of the city.

Very old and tired, limited reception and facilities but clean and friendly

Rooms smelt, the mattress was broken with springs sticking through. Pulled the sheets back to reveal a frayed, stained dirty filthy mattress. No one around to speak to, no reply from emails and phones calls to Ashley Hotel and Arundel Hotel. Avoid.

Old, dirty bath, loud - all neighbours, the entrance fresh air for bath is sounding like a tractor Old dirty furniture All us nit up to date, at least 40 yesrs old Hair dryer is ridiculous, only working gor a minute or two

The only thing I liked were the sheets and towels were clean. I don’t mind it being old and needing an update but dirty is another thing. When arriving I was shocked at the outside condition. Then you cannot get in until 3 as the hotel is locked with no receptionist. The breakfast was ok but felt sorry for the waitresses as so busy and obviously under staffed. Would never stay here again

It’s a very good location but the hotel needs a lot of updating the bathroom was not good at all.

The shower did not drain , the phone had not been dusted or cleaned in ages and the glasses were not cleaned , didn’t look like the floor had been vacuumed.

Hair in sink and shower, and carpet was dirty upon arrival.

The room was ok, fairly spacious but dated. For some reason the breakfast was closed at 0850 so I knocked on the door. The chef then told me breakfast was over because it finishes at 0930 (it's only 0850) and then went back into the kitchen. So I had a bed but no breakfast

The room was good and has everything you need for a short stay, if maybe a bit dated. One challenge is that I could hear every footstep from the room above. The room was tidy but things such as the cups and kettle had dust on them and there was some hair left for me in the shower. One thing I will say was that the staff at breakfast were great and couldn't do enough for you. Overall, a good short stop in Cambridge.

The triple room was spacious and comfortable. The cold water tap did not work at the sink - but getting water from the bathtub was no big problem. A very nice cooked breakfast and very nice staff!

The downstairs reception and breakfast room were upsated and very clean. Unfortunately the room i stayed in, although very comfortable was in need of updating. There was a sign showing plans for a new hotel on the site as the current building is very old. Staff were lovely and very helpful.

The hotel is in a good location, easy walk into Cambridge. Good parking. We were in room 3 and yes, you can hear the front door closing so maybe a quiet closing mechanism on the door would be useful but also other guests being considerate if coming in late at night/early morning would be nice! The room needed a little updating and a hoover and maybe soundproofing but we slept well. Breakfast was good, the staff were lovely. We were asked at breakfast if we wanted our room serviced as it stated in the room that due to staff shortages this couldn’t be guaranteed. A planned extension is advertised outside the hotel, hopefully they’ll have more staff if this goes ahead to have a full time reception and cleaning team.

Comfortable room. It was on the top floor and it was a lot of stairs. Beds and room was comfy. Bathroom plumbing was useless flushing required several goes. Breakfast was great. Parking convenient staff nice and friendly and the location walking distance to most things. We will stay there again but on a lower floor not the top floor 😎

We got there a little before 3 PM. There was NO reception. The whole thing was closed. We were lucky the nice maids helped us get our luggage in and let us use the restrooms. Management is TERRIBLE. Maids who also do the breakfast service were VERY helpful through all our stay. Breakfast was ok. Heating was terrible. It was 15 degrees outside and we barely got heating. Wifi was sketchy. We had to change rooms. We ended up in a room with just a tub. No shower.

Staffs are helpful and friendly. Distance from Cambridge university is convenient.

Fantastic service from the two sisters, who couldn't do enough for you, at breakfast. Excellent location, close to city centre and with free carpark. The only complaint I have is on arrival I was told I had to pay £15 as I booked "through a third party, but this will be refunded straight away". Sadly this was not the case. I know it was only £15, but unhappy that I was lied to! Is this one way of management getting more money out of people? I have tried to get this refunded unsuccessfully.

Check your card, receptionist goes home about 10pm, panic call to their main hotel (The Arundel) would be needed.

1 No reception 24hrs so limited support provided 2. Due to pt.1, service was not good. Missing face aand bath towels. When called their reception (which is in the other Group hotel nearby), the support staff refuse to provide it in the evening time. Jad to wait till next morning for it. 3.Breakfast was with good options and good breakfast staff. 4.Room 4 is not well planned, TV on the side wall not opposite to the bed. 5 They too refundable deposit but never explained the purpose of it..bit weired for good hotels to do it.

Check in arrangements were terrible , was advised that I could collect room key early from sister hotel down the road as we were attending a festival and would be back too late for check in . On arrival we rang the door bell at the Ashley to find out location of the sister hotel , they gave us directions and told us to walk down and collect the key , on arrival at the sister hotel they told us we don’t have the room keys here we would have to go back to the Ashley and wait for someone to come and check us in , after walking back to the Ashley we were met by the cleaning ladies who gave us a key . The same ladies served our breakfast the next morning they were very pleasant and hard working . The room was clean and comfortable , the shower wasn’t very good and needs replacing . Not sure why but room was very hot as the heating had been out on . The reception staff need to be sure that what they say can be done is achievable as information we were given wasn’t what actually happened on the day .

A lovely place, friendly staff and a wonderful vegetarian breakfast.

We were a bit dubious when we first saw the outside but the interior was bright and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots of choice for breakfast. Ideal location for Cambridge city centre - a pleasant 20 minute stroll through the park ( or catch a bus from the front of the hotel).We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely stay in Cambridge and the Ashley Hotel was a perfect location just outside of the city centre

Brilliant location, just a stroll along the river into the city, and over the road from The Portland Arms, convenient for staying after music gigs. Very large airy room (room 1) with powerful hot shower and comfy bed. Lovely hot breakfast and varied cold offetings. Polite waitresses.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Ashley Hotel. Although externally and to a degree internally it is a little tired and dated, our room was clean, the bed comfy and the shower excellent with plenty of hot water. The full english breakfast was a treat to look forward to and the serving staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Parking within the grounds was plentiful and free and the walk into central Cambridge only took 15 minutes via pleasant parkland paths. All in all a great place to stay if visiting Cambridge.

Hotel is in a time warp from 1990's. Room nice, decor was outdated. Great location to walk into centre of Cambridge along River Cam and parks. Highlight was the two sisters who run the breakfast and house keeping. So friendly, fun and accommodating.

The ladies serving breakfast were lovely and friendly. The beds were very comfortable and the room well kept. The hotel is in a good position for walking into the city centre and has good parking. A choice of tea and coffee instead of a ready made pot for breakfast would have been better, but this is a minor issue. Meals at the pub across the road are good.

Well, it's one of them ok-ish reviews for the reasonable cost of the stay, here are the main points to be aware of/be happy about: Free parking, always good and in walking distance to town via the waters edge, a nice stroll. A nice pub opposite for a drink and a full menu if required, quite pricey but nice. The building and it's decor is tired at best. The cleanliness is below average, the shower area isn't great shall we say! The shower water was powerful and hot and the radiators did a good job on a cold day/night. The bed was clean sheeted and comfortable. Whichever staff member came into the building at 6am-ish and announced at the top of his voice 'Morning' to another staff member, clearly doesn't care about waking up the patrons on that same floor, very inconsiderate! In my mind that was the person in the kitchen who was funny about the breakfast! (See below, I could be mistaken). The breakfast is fine but they are tight on what you can have, for example, if you pass on the bacon and ask for both scrambled AND a fried egg, forget it! Seems to me that if you're at least a couple, say yes to everything you need in total and swap between yourselves, save the awkwardness! The young waiter and lady were nice and friendly at breakfast though. So, it's one of them, you kinda get what you pay for but would prefer you paid a bit more! Hope this honest review helps you consider if a stay here is for you or maybe not.
