Basic room was fine, but I did see bugs/flies in my bathroom sink in the morning. Room was right uo against a terrace for a neighboring restaurant, which was a little weird when I needed to shower. Gym is very basic, not super clean, and in basement. Fine for a quick overnight.

Staff were not helpful. Didn’t know the name of the street next to the hotel (Clinton) and had worked there for 2 years. Also didn’t know anything about on-street parking (Buffalo Roam). Gave me an accessible room (no big deal) but shower had floor tile pieces missing. Fitness room In basement is a dump.

The restaurant went out of business, and there were no vending machines or walkable restaurants in proximity that open after 2 PM. There is a coffee shop in the lobby, but it has limited hours. The beds are super comfy and we attended an event at the hotel and the food served was wonderful along with very attentive staff staff, but if you’re looking for something after the event, there is nothing around. Parking is nearby in a garage no valet that we saw. It will not be my first hotel to choose from when visiting downtown Buffalo if you’re looking for a hotel that has amenities outside of a room.

Front desk staff were great, room was clean, we did not like the excessively overpowering smell of cinnamon apple/mint air-freshener that overtook the 2nd floor hallway. The second we got off the elevator or left our room our eyes were burning from it. We could still smell it on our clothes hours after we checked out.

It is an interesting old building that was once incredible. It's still ok but the cleaning is awful. Literally watched the cleaning man just walk around spraying strong smelling cleaner from a bottle and pretending to be cleaning. The place smelled dirty covered with perfume lol. Other than that it was fine.

The room felt old and rundown, the carpet was sticky, the bathroom floor tiles were very dirty, the bed was old and uncomfortable, the lobby was nothing like the picture, it was dark and rundown. The shades were falling off the runners, just horrible

The hotel is my favorite in Buffalo and possibly my favorite of any of your properties. That said, the second floor was overwhelmed with a scent cover up spray. Our room (217) was clean and comfortable. The only criticism is the bathroom door handle was loose. It just needs to have the set screw tightened.

Overall we loved our stay and plan to stay again in a few months. Our only "complaint" is that we could hear EVERYTHING above and around our room. Also, at like 1am there was a bunch of people in the hall yelling. Not the hotel's fault but it should have been addressed. Our room was so cute and unique!

Interesting building with an interesting history. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nicely appointed and a good size, although the mattress was too soft for my liking. Parking was nearby and inexpensive. The internet in the room was terribly. The front desk believed the slow internet was due to the hotel being busy. The breakfast cafe attached to the lobby was great.

When I checked in and went to room 205, it was a small, dark room with a window looking out onto the bottom of the tiny "courtyard" with windows on all sides. When I went back and asked if there were any rooms available looking out, I was pleasantly surprised to be given room 203 instead - a bigger, nicer room with a bigger bed and windows with a view looking north, for the same price. What fantastic customer service! All of the folks at the front desk were very nice and pleasant as well.

A nice 3 night stay in this beautiful old historic hotel. Lots of history to explore with informative explanation boards. My room was huge and clean, as was the bathroom. The bed and pillows were very comfortable allowing a great sleep. Very quiet. Convenient PowerPoints and charging points. Good hot water and water pressure. Good Wifi. Room had a microwave, fridge, iron, room safe, lounge and desk. Easy check-in. Excellent Cafe on the ground floor. Perfect central location at Lafayette Square. Lots of restaurants and bars close by and easy walk to light rail (street car), Amtrak Station, Bus terminal, Buffalo Bisons stadium, City Hall and Theatre District. Relaxed stay and would definitely stay again.

I stayed and they charged me $25 for incidentals. Upon returning for 2 nights only 3 weeks later, they charged me $200!!! FOR INCIDENTALS without telling me first. When I brought it to their attention, nobody could figure out how to refund me the extra $150 right away. I had to borrow money from family so that I wouldn't be literally starving and with no gas in my car for the rest of the trip. I didn't get the money back until a few days AFTER I checked out. The hotel is beautiful and the cafe next door is very nice, but I won't be staying there again. It was unprofessional how the money situation was handled.

When i checked in, a couple was in my room sleeping. The front desk didn't have an explanation. They moved me but I wanted to leave. The hallway carpets are dirty, the elevator was dirty. This isn't 3.5. It's 2.5 at best.

The hotel was nice. But I had an issue with the staff. My toilet didn't work and i found this out at 9:30 pm so I called the desk and asked to have it fixed or.to swich rooms and the lady at the desk told me there was no one in who can fix it lt and there were no open rooms. 15 minutes later i got a call from the front desk saying they had a room. My issue was being lied to at first. Toilets break but lies are not ok.

Lovely old-school historic urban hotel that has been tastefully modernized. It seems that with many rooms they likely combined two old rooms to make mini-suites that are roomy and comfortable. Hotel originally designed by one of America’s first women architects which they have told the story of with some nice historical displays. All the staff I encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. The adjoining cafe was very tasty for breaky too - the pumpkin pie cruller was to die for. Only a couple of small critiques: a hotel of this caliber should have proper glassware, not plastic in plastic cups like a motel 6. I mentioned it to the staff when checking out and they said it was a covid-lingering directive from Windham, the parent brand. Time to change it up Windham! Also would’ve preferred a rolling desk chair rather than the odd acrylic one. On a business trip I actually spent some time at this desk and a better chair would’ve been welcomed. These are minor suggestions for improvement though. Overall the stay was great.

Came across the border for a Detroit/Buffalo game. Conveniently place 7 minutes across the border and a 15 minute walk to the rink. Staff was friendly and helpful, the only downside was when we checked into our room and got our keys they didn’t initially work. Had to reactivate our keys only to use them and walk into a room that was still occupied. Not ideal whatsoever or comforting. They did upgrade up immediately to the presidential suite but we felt a little jarred to leave our stuff. Everything turned out fine in the end and things were kept safe.

The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating- made our stay so nice and convenient! The hotel is beautiful, rooms are even more pretty. Comfortable beds/pillows… what more can you ask for! Parking is one block away in a garage with ample space and great rates. Perfect spot to stay for our Buffalo marathon weekend!

The location was walkable to Keybank Center. This hotel had so much history and so unique than other modern hotels. The room was massive with barn door. The rooms were very clean. The front desk staff was very friendly and was very informed with the history of the hotel

Check in was awful. The staff was not coming or trying to accommodate. We arrived early and we understand check in was at 3. She said she would call housekeeping to get an idea and told us to sit. 45 min later no response from her and I approached her to say can you store our bags. She could have just told us it wasn’t possible so we could have walked around or got lunch. Then I arrived at 3:10 to check in. I saw a couple in front of me get their key cards. I am next and the staff says my room isn’t ready. I ask why. Silence. Then another couple checks in in front of me. My room is still not ready. I ask for my luggage and if it’s ok to check in somewhere else and if I can get a refund. Silence. I ask for a manage he hands me a business card. I ask if there is any room available and I will pay extra. He says he can check. Why didn’t he try to do that instead of me offering choices. I apologize for being mean to him but it was the most frustrating experience.

The bed, shower/tub, and overall layout of the room are great! I booked the hotel because my wife loves Art Deco and we were not disappointed! We attended a Buffalo Bisons game that was just a few blocks away! I highly recommend Hotel Lafayette for you stay in Buffalo!

The lobby suggested an old bank but the old facade of the elevator gave way to a slick, new elevator; the hall carpet suggested old and worn but it was not….the room was great and modern with an old vibe! TV was mounted in an odd location. It was a very easy walk to the ball field, but in the evening not much around for snacks etc. Parking was easy, 1 black south…and cheaper than advertised! A great stay!

The building is very unique and the architecture is beautiful. The area around the hotel is a little unsafe at night. Also, there is no parking other than street parking (staff told me it isn’t the safest to park on the street) or a garage a block away but then you have to walk at night.

The property was easy to find and it looks just like the photos. Check in and out were quick. The parking garage is a short walk up and easy to get in and out of. The parking garage and hotel are cashless. The only issue we had was the shower is supposed to be a modern design, but the lack of shower door or curtains was super unappealing. We had to put a towel on the floor to catch the water. Also we were staying there to go to event at Outer Harbor Terminal B. The front desk told us it was a 10 minute walk. It absolutely isnt walkable. There is no way to get across the water(the bridge has no pedestrian walkway). You will need to Uber or drive. The coffee shop near attached to the hotel has really good cold brew make sure you grab a coffee(if its your thing) before you leave! We would stay again.

The room was clean and nice for a one night stay. No microwave or mini fridge was slightly disappointing. The check in staff were very nice and let us check in a little early. The evening staff were rude and told us there was no food on site when we asked about breakfast, even though there is a little cafe that serves a bunch of yummy food options...

A nicely restored Art Deco Hotel in downtown Buffalo. The room was very clean and beds comfortable. The public areas show their age in places--some banged up woodwork and floor tiles missing--but overall this is a great place to stay at a reasonable price. The staff was courteous and helpful, and the coffee shop downstairs is one of the best in town.
