Bedbugs, roaches, no towels, no soap, no remote for TV and unclean bedspreads and very dingy sheets. Dirty bathroom and walls. Run down flop motel! If you’re homeless maybe it’s a good deal for $42.

We wish we could give this motel a negative 0. No dining of any kind. No area to purchase snack foods except the office. All of the walls, tub, shower, and shower curtain were dirty in room 281 with dark spot on shower curtain. Refused to stay. Second room 261 had a dry medium yellowish orange emesis spot near the entry way to the sink. Bathtub and shower were clean. However, we advise everyone to stay away from Mount Vernon Inn in Sumter, SC.

TL;DR: Don't stay here. It's dirty and unsafe. I checked out 15 minutes after checking in. Cons: 1. Dirty - bed sheets had cigarette burns in them. Paint was peeling and the door looked like someone had REALLY done a number on it. 2. Rooms smell like cigarettes. 3. Unsafe - door didn't lock properly. Men yelling at me, trying to get my attention as I walked to my car. 4. Bathroom didn't have a mirror. 5. Lights didn't work. Only the lamps. Pro's: 1. Customer Service: The lady who checked me in offered to show me additional rooms to remedy the situation. However, all rooms she showed had the same issues as the first. (CS was average at best - she was not friendly)

Was shown 4 different rooms before accepting to stay in one of the rooms that was the “best” out of the bunch. Didn’t sleep in the bed, comforter had multiple cigarette burns in it, whitish oversized pillow cases wrapped around yellow pillows, dirty toilet, roaches, light fixtures taken off the wall laying on their side. AC unit was blowing but cool air would not reach the bed area. Wore shower shoes as the entire floor looked unclean and “sticky” in certain spots. With the amount of people walking around, hanging out front of other rooms, did not make for a comfortable stay and did not put my mind at ease with my vehicle out front. Do not recommend for anyone.

Don’t stay at this place it’s a very dirty place.when I arrived to my room it smelled like cigarette, the bed was disgusting they didn’t wash the sheets and I know they didn’t because they had blood stains and other stains that looked like pee stains. The bed was filled with crumbs and hairs. Absolutely disgusting and the bed had bugs

I had a really bad time checking in, the person at the front desk did not speak English and was not aware what to do. After about an hour was checked in, the room was terrible, the sheets had holes in them, the bathroom door lock was missing, the room smelled back and supposedly that was the last room. The neighborhood was suspect, I was exchausted but could not sleep. I checked out the next day and went to a hotel which was much cleaner and better neighborhood. Tried to reach out to management and they would not return calls and would not listen to a partial refund either.

Was a late arrival checking in at 1230.. was 1 am by the time I got a room and the first room the door frame was busted and the door wouldn’t close all the way. Got rooms changed and it wasn’t much better. The pictures online must be from 20 years ago. No towels or wash rags in the room nor are there any available. If it had not been so late and I had not drove all night I would have left. I had to sleep with protection on the pillow because a guy was watching me during check in and during the change of rooms. If you are a female traveling alone or with kids I highly recommend not staying here if you are arriving late. Only positive thing was the rate was reasonable. But it’s true you get what you pay for.

We had a no smoking room. Evidence of cigarette burns on the sinks. Holes patched up but not repainted. No cups, no Kleenex, no towels. Someone in room with chain across. Said she was a cleaner! Reception did not know who it was!!!! Holes in the carpet. No remote. Broken furniture. Reception tried to make things right but bad place to stay

It took 25 minutes to check in once i was able to wake the desk clerk up. The 1st room he gave me the bed was leaning against a wall, obviously not ready for a guest. Went beck to the lobby and waited another 10 minutes for him to switch my room. Id been driving 15 hours, was exhausted and just wanted to go to bed

The rooms was fifty no air conditioning in the rooms. We didnt have any towels or toilet tissue we had to move 3 times to a nither room because the sinks and toilets were stoped up. Thhe sheets didnt fit the bed there was roaches in the rooms. I always came to mount vernon when im in town but i will never go there again. The staff was rude like she had a attitude. They new they had other rooms better ones but didnt want to put us in any of them. They wanted to put us in the back where the drugs are being sold women prostititing and stuff. I just saying dont go there if you can find another hotel because mount vernon isnt it. The funny thing is that i went to get my money back of 400 dollars to leave that nasty place but then all of a sudden they have rooms? Not anymore

First off, the property is the worst!!! No towels, no toilet tissue, NO HOUSEKEEPER CAME TO SEE IF ANYTHING WAS NEEDED!!! The room was extremely dirty and the smell was awful. I only stayed because I was low on money and had NO CHOICE! I will NEVER stay here ever again even if I'm down to my last dollar. The only positive that came out of this was the staff member, which she was a personal friend of mine but even these things were out of her control!

Well. When check in. The lady receptionist. Said that my booking did not go through. She said the new owner does not do on line booking. So i had to pay again. For the night 55 dollars. But first time payed. 76 dollars. I do not know why just take Mount Vernon Inn off Holtels.com

If you are a female traveling alone or with kids I highly recommend not staying here if you are arriving late. Only positive thing was the rate was reasonable. But it’s true you get what you pay for.
Was a late arrival checking in at 1230.. was 1 am by the time I got a room and the first room the door frame was busted and the door wouldn’t close all the way. Got rooms changed and it wasn’t much better. The pictures online must be from 20 years ago. No towels or wash rags in the room nor are there any available. If it had not been so late and I had not drove all night I would have left. I had to sleep with protection on the pillow because a guy was watching me during check in and during the change of rooms. If you are a female traveling alone or with kids I highly recommend not staying here if you are arriving late. Only positive thing was the rate was reasonable. But it’s true you get what you pay for.

I had no working Air Conditioning/Heat in my room, no towels or washcloths, and had two separate people knocking on my door. One asked if I had drugs! My room neighbors were up all night arguing about how he doesn’t care about her,etc.

We had a no smoking room. Evidence of cigarette burns on the sinks. Holes patched up but not repainted. No cups, no Kleenex, no towels. Someone in room with chain across. Said she was a cleaner! Reception did not know who it was!!!! Holes in the carpet. No remote. Broken furniture. Reception tried to make things right but bad place to stay

The rooms was fifty no air conditioning in the rooms. We didnt have any towels or toilet tissue we had to move 3 times to a nither room because the sinks and toilets were stoped up. Thhe sheets didnt fit the bed there was roaches in the rooms. I always came to mount vernon when im in town but i will never go there again. The staff was rude like she had a attitude. They new they had other rooms better ones but didnt want to put us in any of them. They wanted to put us in the back where the drugs are being sold women prostititing and stuff. I just saying dont go there if you can find another hotel because mount vernon isnt it. The funny thing is that i went to get my money back of 400 dollars to leave that nasty place but then all of a sudden they have rooms? Not anymore

TL;DR: Don't stay here. It's dirty and unsafe. I checked out 15 minutes after checking in. Cons: 1. Dirty - bed sheets had cigarette burns in them. Paint was peeling and the door looked like someone had REALLY done a number on it. 2. Rooms smell like cigarettes. 3. Unsafe - door didn't lock properly. Men yelling at me, trying to get my attention as I walked to my car. 4. Bathroom didn't have a mirror. 5. Lights didn't work. Only the lamps. Pro's: 1. Customer Service: The lady who checked me in offered to show me additional rooms to remedy the situation. However, all rooms she showed had the same issues as the first. (CS was average at best - she was not friendly)

Was shown 4 different rooms before accepting to stay in one of the rooms that was the “best” out of the bunch. Didn’t sleep in the bed, comforter had multiple cigarette burns in it, whitish oversized pillow cases wrapped around yellow pillows, dirty toilet, roaches, light fixtures taken off the wall laying on their side. AC unit was blowing but cool air would not reach the bed area. Wore shower shoes as the entire floor looked unclean and “sticky” in certain spots. With the amount of people walking around, hanging out front of other rooms, did not make for a comfortable stay and did not put my mind at ease with my vehicle out front. Do not recommend for anyone.

While there are signs posted all over the property saying no loud music, no screaming, no hanging out outside your door, no drinking all of that occurred every night there. The location offers no towels or washcloths to use the shower. The shower was in disrepair. There were roaches in the room. The furniture was dirty. The staff was mediocre and not welcoming

We wish we could give this motel a negative 0. No dining of any kind. No area to purchase snack foods except the office. All of the walls, tub, shower, and shower curtain were dirty in room 281 with dark spot on shower curtain. Refused to stay. Second room 261 had a dry medium yellowish orange emesis spot near the entry way to the sink. Bathtub and shower were clean. However, we advise everyone to stay away from Mount Vernon Inn in Sumter, SC.

Shockingly neglected property. Broken shades, duct tape on the walls, rust stains in the bathroom. Just terrible shape. Front desk staff was great. I would not stay at this motel again
