Staff welcoming and room very clean. Breakfast good variety with buffet and menu with specials if desired. Bed and linen very good. Downside was the bar was not manned and no lunch or dinner provided. We had chosen this hotel due to the bar being advertised for drinks after a long day walking, so was slightly disappointed. We were advised to visit sister hotel Bonham hotel few doors down which we did and was very satisfied with the service and food. We also had a small double in the eaves which was quite cramped and the velux window could not be closed. We informed reception and they did offer to send someone to show us as they said it was difficult to operate but due to being hot we decided not to bother and left window open. The water pressure was not great and the hot tap moved when putting on. Overall cleanliness was very good as this is important for us. The building is so historic and unusual and I hope they keep the wood panelling etc as we were told that the hotel has now been bought by the group that run the sister hotel The Bonham, which is excellent.

We were incredibly happy with our stay here. We tend to like places that are less corporate feeling and have a bit of character, and this place really fit that. But was really high end, as well. Our booking didn’t include breakfast, so we can’t speak to that, but there were tons of delicious local neighborhood spots around that we were really happy with. The room we were in (Family Room) was huge! We were on the fourth floor and were blown away by our view of Dean Village. The elevator was broken when we arrived (they sent us a message about that in advance), but they did offer to take out bags upstairs for us. The elevator was fixed the next day, but it is very tiny. Only room for 2 people, comfortably. If you’re claustrophobic at all. You may want to take the stairs. All the staff were very polite and very helpful. The caliber of professionalism made us feel like we were staying at the Ritz. We would definitely stay here again

Quaint and great stay in Edinburgh close to the castle and centre, in a quiet street and the restaurants around with great food. Superb views over Dean Village from our windows with overlook to Edinburgh skyline. Only drawback was that the elevator was broken, but the friendly staff helped us with the luggage up the stairs. Can really recommend this stay.

This was our second time staying at this hotel. The charm of the Victorian terrace house drew us in, the care and attention of the staff decided our return. The quiet West End location is perfect for getting into the city centre, a short walk from the airport tram and Village of Dean / Stockbridge. Be sure to take a restful moment in the stunning library!
