Harper's Steakhouse with Rooms, Southampton Swanwick Marina

Excellent room, reception, and free onsite parking. Didn't use any other facilities.

This is a great place to stay. The rooms were motel style so open the door straight outside which was perfect as we had our 5month puppy with us. Dog friendly too, could take her into the pub. On arrival, in our room was a dog bed, two dog bowls, dog towel and a doggy welcome pack - great touch. Our room was comfy and had everything we needed. Good Wi-Fi (free), smart TV and a small fridge which was useful. The room was clean and tidy and despite being on a main road, it was quiet overnight. The staff in the attached pub were friendly and helpful. We ate both evenings in the pub, reasonably priced and varied menu. Some lovely local walks in the area which are advertised on the pub website. We will definitely stay here again, a gem of a place.

We had a wonderful one night stay at Harpers Steakhouse. The room & breakfast was value for money and to a very high standard. It was refreshing to see attention to detail and little touches in the room like plentiful tea, coffee, hot chocolate & biscuits and a mini fridge with water and fresh milk - so many hotels no longer offer this (often as a cost saving exercise). We had a huge super king bed which was very comfortable and a pull out bed for our 12 year old daughter. The little table & chairs outside the room was a nice touch for warmer weather. Two minor complaints were that the room was hot & stuffy (and it was not a hot day) and the Dyson fan was useful but too noisy for sleeping. Unfortunately some other guests chatted loudly for a while at midnight right outside our room and shouted for their dog - rather rude & disrespectful to other guests and kept us awake. This was a minor inconvenience and not a reflection on the hotel. All the staff were friendly & helpful too. We enjoyed dinner and drinks too and our waitress, Emily, was wonderful - warm, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. A real asset to the place. The location is ideal and we enjoyed a long walk from Swanwick Marina towards Warsash along the riverside. Beautiful views. We would definitely stay here again as it’s so refreshing to find great rooms that are well appointed & comfortable with the added bonus of decent food, friendly staff and free parking.

Great place to stay. Bus stop out front goes to Portsmouth or Southampton. Super comfy beds, great food at restaurant and clean Would highly recommend staying here.

Nice area to wander round if you like boats. Hotel had ample parking. Friendly staff. Food nice but not cheap.

Steve provided a friendly, informative and quick check in service before showing us to our room. The room was in very good order and spotlessly clean. It was adjacent to the parking. We ate and drank in the restaurant which offered a reasonably varied menu at a "middling" price point. We didn't have breakfast there but it looked good and was quite cheap. Altogether a very enjoyable overnight stay.

Excellent location with a wonderful restaurant and bar. The food options and staff were amazing. There wasn’t any reason to explore alternate food places because the food and staff exceeded our expectations.

Lovely hotel on A27, so handy for motorway to Southampton or Portsmouth nearby. Nice room outside of hotel at the back. Plenty of room..large bed. Hotel served steak and other meals. Reasonably priced. Breakfast was extra, but available if required. Free overnight parking on large car park. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The room was very clean and nicely presented..there was a mini fridge to put your own items in to keep cool...there is tea, coffee, water and two double packs of biscuits, a nice touch..in the bathroom the products are of nice quality...we stayed two nights, it was quiet and safe...we slept very well...the staff were very polite and helpful..we will stay again....many thanks

The room was very nice although the shower water did not drain away properly, reported to reception as possible blockage. Food - Did not like the food - very disappointing, virtually as soon as ordering it was being served, obviously not freshly cooked. Only the starter was hot and the steak very chewy- very disappointing and for that reason did not have breakfast there. Walked to a very nice place a short distance away called Banana Wharf - freshly cooked, tasty and enjoyable. Wished we had gone there for our evening meal the previous evening.

For the price point air conditioning would be nice. The bed was very comfortable. Cob webs above the bed area, and the shower room looked a bit tired in places (room 3). Staff have been amazingly helpful and friendly and the food has been very good. I would stay here again without any problem.

Green crusty snot on the bed. I almost vomited over it. Room in general, filthy. We booked another htel and left. I would like my money reimbursed

The room was fine although obviously hadn't been used for a while as there was cobwebs in the bathroom near the toilet. On return from our cruise was a £100 pound fine for faure to pay parking. Although this was swiftly resolved with a call to the hotel the registering system was faulty.

Clean, modern room with good shower, fridge, fresh milk, water and a good choice of teas and coffees. Good breakfast cooked to order. All in all, a very pleasant stay for one night and would return if in the area again.

All good. If I had to pick in something, I’ve stayed here twice and the TVs just don’t work properly. The remotes are awful. Everything else, however, is spot on.

I booked a king size room, when I got there the room I was allocated was a double, so went to reception and the manager told me my room was a king size and that a king size bed was 4ft 6… no that’s a standard double! I then had no choice to upgrade as my wife needs space to sleep, so end up paying nearly £20 more to upgrade the room to a super king! Not really happy, manager in my opinion did not and would not accept that a standard double bed is 4ft 6! So I didn’t get what I paid for. The room itself when we paid to upgrade was nice, very hot and although a Dyson fan didn’t really do a lot to cool the room down. We ate in the restaurant with friends and a steak had to be sent back as was under cooked, asked for medium well was given a rare steak! That really shouldn’t happen in what is deemed a steak house! I wouldn’t stay again after the issue with the room and the steak.

Excellent facilities in the room. Very clean and comfortable. Room had a fridge, digital radio, Nespresso machine with pods and a good selection of teas, coffees and biscuits. Probably on of the best room I have stayed on to the money paid.

The room was lovely with soft pillows, dyson fan, coffee pods, mini fridge with fresh milk and bottled water.

My room was called the “cupboard” by the manager who checked me in. No elevator to help with heavy bags. Narrow stairs to the floor. No AC in room and just a tiny window for airflow. Decorations in the room were nice. I could barely lift my arms in the shower. They should merge rooms 1 and 2 to make one normal sized room.

First stay here, but hopefully not my last. Really nice room, spacious and quiet at the back. Very friendly service in the restaurant, good selection of beers and London Pride on normal draught which was suprisingly good. Wine was expensive: Pds. 40 for a liter of Merlot (Pds. 30 for a bottle)

If we could give 6 stars we would! The service was impeccable. All the staff were obliging and attentive. Special mention to Steve. What a gentleman who went above and beyond to ensure our couple of nights here were enjoyable and that we had everything we needed. Also thanks to Emily. Polite, helpful and cheerful. She is very good at her job. All the staff were wonderful- bar staff, housekeeping and wait staff. Food was delicious. The rooms… after 5 months on the road traveling it ticked all the boxes. Parking, power points, fan(that actually works quietly), heater, coffee maker, comfortable bed and pillows, hooks to hang your towels the list goes on! Thank you for making our last nights on our journey comfortable and enjoyable.

Interesting, very busy place, and i think that meant staff over busy. We had someone walk into our room whilst we were getting ready for dinner (thankfully the chap realised). Then in the restaurant when orderinf we were told that it was 40 mins as the kitchen was buay. Calamari not great, choice of drinks great and good quality - staff really pleasant and helpful

Been work since 6am come back no water complained to reception and then reception closed at 7.30 so nothing I would never stay again and advise anyone thinking about it to start clear

Very nice people running the place. Room was comfortable. Food was ok. Area a bit noisy and not much to walk to or choice of restaurants. Many marina repair businesses in the area.I would probably stay closer to cruise port if you are leaving on a cruise. There are many dining and fun shops in the area.

Stunning room, loved the outside dining area, weather was gorgeous, I booked this hotel for my partners birthday and will 100% be coming back to stay again… even if it isn’t for a special occasion! Beautiful location next to the marina as well felt like I was on holiday

Great room, fabulous and well cooked breakfast also good value at £15 for 2 (ex drinks). Staff very attentive and clearly cared.

All the staff were impeccable, especially the manager, Summer, who very kindly gave us some breakfast items the night before since we were off early in the morning competing in a triathlon. We were impressed enough to stay for the football and lunch after checkout. The only negative would be that it was disappointing to eat the Crab o cado burger and find an extremely flat, small and tasteless deep-fried crab. For £19 this was very bad value for money and not tasty either. The server however gave us a free dessert which compensated somewhat. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return.

This is the 3rd year we have stayed. I am not sure we would come back if it were not for the convenience of its proximity to Swanwick Marina. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, but small. This time there was a problem with the boiler that meant we had no hot water the first morning. We have joined with our friends for dinner on the Friday night 3 years running. The food was excellent the first couple of times, but this time left a lot to be desired. The staff were helpful, especially Olli, our waiter this year.
