Hotel The Palm

Staff is very helpful and friendly. My only concern was the neglected rooftop pool. No umbrellas, torn tanning beds, and limited sitting areas.

The rooms we had was very large with a large living area and basic kitchen amenities. The bedroom was also large with a huge bathroom and plenty of storage space. The only shortfall was the rooftop pool and bar. The pool seemed neglected and was green on 2 days we were there. There were only 4 lounge chairs, 2 of which were not usable due to ripped bed and when we asked for an umbrella they finally found 1 that wasn't broken on the 3'rd try. We are hoping that the fact they were updating the bar roof that they realize things need to be addressed. We used to visit this rooftop pool when they had day passes several years ago and it was beautiful. I hope they bring it back to its glory days. We would return in the future as the staff was very nice and accomodating, the rooms were comfortable and the price point was very good. Great location!

Nice location, good pool and working hot tub, Giovani a bartender at the pool bar is so good and nice.

I’ve stayed at this property too many times to recall over the past 6 years.Because of the rooftop pool scene it was known throughout PDC as one of the best spots in town,unfortunately not anymore.New Hotel Management and The Pool was a cemetery.The Palm as of now is no longer selling Day Passes,So the pool sadly is no longer the place to be.

Easy access to the beach, great eats, and entertainment. We were able to park our car rental in their lot and that was really convenient to access. The only thing the rooftop bar is a separate entity and there was slight miscommunication but they were able to rectify it without a problem.

Decent hotel, bit run down. Big minus for only having 3 working sun chairs by the pool, there were 5 when we arrived, I broke on by sitting on it and another guest broke another. They were super old and worn out on the mesh part. The last 3 days of our trip they only had sun 3 beds with umbrellas, which went super fast. a staff member said the owner knew and planned to buy more, but didn’t during our 5 day stay. Not at all what the pretty pictures show on Expedia and their rooftop show. We had to spend additional money going to the beach to rent sun chairs. Staff was friendly and it’s a great location. Just really worn down and the owner not seeming to care. 3 sun chairs for a 70 person hotel, quite disappointed

Pros: Excellent location to town and beach. Room was spacious and clean. Full kitchen with all you need to cook meals. Cons: our 10% off food was not honored, nor were our 2 free drinks that were included in our package. Some of the food at Breakfast were ice cold upon arrival. No lounge chairs at the pool..only 3 beds in the pool. Front desk did not communicate anything about the hotel, where to find things, amenities…had to ask for hairdryer and found out you need to put a deposit down. Not a big deal but could have been told up front instead of going back and forth from room to front desk.

Nice location, good pool area but NOT ENOUGH shade umbrellas around the pool and hot tub. Hot tub was warm one day then cold the next three days. You only receive two very tiny bottles of purified water each day, which is quite odd. You actually need to buy your own overpriced water at nearby stores. Definitely could use an upgrade in that catagory

Rooftop was amazing

Un hotel muy bonito, con muy buena ubicación, las instalaciones limpias y bonitas, el servicio que ofrecen es agradable, solo una observación y es que el elevador no servía y es difícil subir escaleras con maletas, todo lo demás excelente!

L’hôtel est très bien situé près de la 5e Ave, la plage et les restaurants. La propriété laisse à désiré, le plancher mal lavé, les verres sales et l’établissement en général n’est pas très propre. Le stationnement étais parfait au sous-sol. La chambre est grande et le lit était très confortable, mais mal équipé pour la cuisine. Et les oreillers pas très confortable. Nous en avons demandé d’autre mais pas possible d’en avoir. Les meubles ça va.. Le gros problème que nous avons connu est la tranquillité, nous n’avons presque pas dormi car c’est la fête à toutes les nuits juste en face avec 2 discothèques jusqu’à 3, 4 et même 5h du matin le premier soir. De plus il y avait de la construction le matin à partir de 6h am. Nous avons demandé pour changer de chambre mais la chambre que nous avons eu était encore pire, pas plus propre, pas plus tranquille. Sur ce point c’était un peu l’enfer. Semaine très difficile, très peu de sommeil. J’ai fais plusieurs tentatives pour annuler la réservation avec l’hôtel et Expedia mais sans succes.

Encontré 2 cucarachas en el piso cerca de la regadera y la limpieza de las sábanas y el departamento estuvieron horribles, cabellos en la cama, manchas en las almohadas, las toallas están percudidas, moho en las paredes del baño. Lo único bueno es el buen trato del personal en la recepción. Compré un cloro y me puse a desinfectar. No dije nada para evitar enojos. Pero no vuelvo a ese hotel nunca. También cuando estuvimos en la habitación intentaron abrir la puerta del cuarto y no pudieron porque tenía el seguro por dentro. Tuve que gritar que estaba ocupado para que dejaran de intentar abrir mi habitación.

Very clean and fine

I think they have to work in Better cleaning especially in the room, some cool air in the lobby and waiting area the shampoo,body wash and conditioner has all the same things

Shower was great! Very clean.

Property is very poorly maintained. Our room was filthy and below the standard of other hotels. My partner and I have stayed in plenty of hotels and this was the worst. The floors were dirty, there was mold and mildew throughout the room. The mirrors were unwashed, the curtains and bed sheet was stained, the toilet did not flush properly, and the sink sprayed water. Additionally the bed did not have a blanket, just a sheet and the shower shelf was broken (just hanging off the wall)

The rooms smelled like sewage ( water smells) bedding smells. No blankets. Ac did not work properly. Check in took hours.

EXTREMELY DIRTY!!The bed sheets were dirty, stained, and covered in hair. The pillows had a horrible smell and hadn't been changed either. The toilet was flushing. I called reception at 4 pm and they only left me one sheet to change the sheets since there was no cleaning staff. It was very, very dirty. And hair in the headboard I took some pictures

Super limpio, personal atento y buena vibra, apto para ir en pareja o en familia. Recomendable para estar relax y cerquita de la 5ta avenida. 🏪 Super clean, attentive staff and good vibes, suitable for going as a couple or as a family. Recommended to be relaxing and close to 5th Avenue. 🏪

First room was terrible …they moved us to another.No shower pressure and the knob was broken. Water was scalding hot The guys were nice and tried to help. Blankets were torn. The hotel was overall very dirty. There was no tv in the first living room. The mirror was splattered with cleaner!

This place is in dire need of maintenance. Zero water pressure the showers. Most things are falling apart (ie. faucets, doors, tvs, etc). The only two things that makes this place worthwhile is the rooftop pool and the location.

Excellent location right next to 5th Avenida. Large one bedroom with separate living space for our 2 teen daughters. Big balcony . Impressive view from top floor terrasse and pool . Hospitable staff .very comfy super king bed to rest after a 16 hour flight from Middle East . Cons : no microwave Will recommend this hotel .

Toilet seat was broken, the room looked as if it were not properly cleaned, some substance smeared on one of the nightstands, and the staff were not at all friendly or welcoming!

Looks better on pictures then in real life. But it’s a ok place to stay. Close to shops but also bars and clubs so very noisy at night. Pool on the roof is nice. They have a good private parking under the building. Room very big, cleaning we have Ronald some days they forget. Only 2 towels no iron or hairdryer in the room. Not sure we’re coming back again.

We stayed in the king suite, living room and kitchenette with a big balcony. The Palm was exactly what we wanted. Close to everything. If you don’t like noise being kitty corner to 5th Ave strip there are a few places with loud music close by, we still didn’t find it bothersome. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We had a wonderful experience!

This place is unique- 2 blocks from the beach is great. The garden is 4/5 stars, beautiful lush greens, nice seating areas, very cool and well maintained. The roof top pool and bar is nice- 3.5/5 stars, good drinks, nice pool, can see the ocean, tables for the "bar tops" crappy, but really enjoyed the service here. The rooms- crap 2/5 stars and being generous. Clean but old, basic, needs up keep, the furiture on the private balcony terrace needs tossed- completely falling apart, the kitchen is crap, and the cupboarss and tables are old wood that needs replaced. No rugs no decorations. Very meh. For us the stay was fine, i drank wine and read my book in the garden, and we had nice sunset cocktails at the roof pool (the mural art work is awesome). Room was a disappointment, but worked.

The room was a good size. The shower had two shower heads but we were only able to use one. Once the shower head was on it created a major leak in the room. There aren’t any additional towels or blankets. We loved how close it was to everything but the smell in the room is overwhelming.

Rooms are very spacious and clean. However the hotel is very noisy at night due to all the surrounding bars.

This hotel has priceless location right in the middle of the Playa Carmen fun area. Rooms are big and well noise isolated as there are many nightclubs around. The rooftop pool is great The

Prime location but service needs LOTS of improvement. We reserved a suite which did not appear to have been cleaned thoroughly. Room had no toilet paper. We had to WALK over to front desk THREE TIMES to make request in person. This hotel has lots of potential to become a 4 star hotel but front desk staff need to be replaced with someone much more hospitable and courteous! And overall service needs lots of improvement!

I initially booked a week stay at the Palm and received a warm welcome from reception on arrival. I had booked a loft room which was large for one person and it had a lovely balcony overlooking Calle 8th and the corner of 5th which was great for people watching. The hotel has an amazing location next to all the bars and shops on 5th but if you’re a light sleeper or enjoy an early be warned you may want to bring ear plugs as it gets quite noisy with music blasting from surrounding bars and hotels and the music from the palm’s own rooftop. The housekeeping were amazing the room was spotlessly clean throughout my stay, however cleaning times varied each day it could be 11am or 2pm and my room was not cleaned on the final day as I asked them to come back a bit later which they didn’t. The Palm has a lovely upstairs pool area with bar, restaurant and great views looking out to the ocean, the service is ok and staff could have been friendlier. The palm is rated as a four star hotel but I can’t quite agree with this rating for the following reasons: - bed linen had cigarette holes in it - bath towels were small and all stained - beach towels were not proper towels and made of a cheap cloth - coffee grounds in my room were not given for all of my stay - the pool was filled with dead flies & needed more regular cleaning. Overall a very pleasant stay but management needs to work on attention to detail for a perfect stay.

Staff did not help with any requests. There was no full length mirror in room and staff did nothing to help. They offered to switch rooms next day and everyday that passed they said they said no rooms are available and next day they would, but never had anything. When asking for a second hand towel for room they did not provide one despite there were two of us. Not friendly and when speaking to staff they began to ignore us and wanted to serve lady behind us as they had nothing more to say despite no solution.

Ramses at the front desk was extra friendly, and very accommodating. Most of the staff was also nice. One security guard at the door was obnoxious and very unfriendly and unaccommodating.

Cant tell if we were terribly unlucky or if this property is just how we experienced it. We checked in late and when to the hotel and the toilet was already clogged and nearly overflowing and one towel was on the floor. We called the front desk to see if we could get the toilet unclogged and an extra towel but the reception desk apologized that they did not leave the maintenance key behind for him to get a plunger but we were free to use the public stalls downstairs any time and they don’t have anymore clean towels for the day. We were a little put off but hey, that’s not his fault and he was apologetic so we used the public restroom, shared the towel to shower and went to bed. The next morning we left early for an excursion and asked the front desk to have someone come and plunge and leave towels for when we return. We returned late at night. Toilet still clogged and no new towels. We went to ask about it and the girl at the reception this time was not as polite. Maybe she was overwhelmed with stuff going on as she was running around and it took her a few minutes to get to us. We asked her about the plunger and the towels and she said her colleagues were not there and could not plunge the toilet. My boyfriend asked for a plunger for him to do it and she said she did not have one and no clean towels for the 2nd night. She said someone can come the next morning, we checked out at 11 and we never got to use our own toilet.

Staff were amazing

El servicio de personal fue uno excepcional, el hotel estaba en una ubicación perfecta, donde podias encontrar de todo desde restaurantes, tiendas para comprar, lugares para diversión y la playa estaba a pasos, definitivamente una excelente opción. La habitación siempre estuvo bien recogida y equipada con lo necesario. El área de la piscina siempre limpia recogida y buen mantenimiento. Definitivamente es recomendada.

Excellent option, close to everything you need in Playa del Carmen and the staff are amazing.

Great stay, location wise it was perfect! Walkable anywhere! Rooftop pool is amazing, bar is great and food is wonderful! The front staff were great and helpful! Will be back!

Property its ok for the price you pay its half block of 5th Ave. right in front busy night clubs if you dont like noise dont stay here because you can hear noises from both of the clubs Santino and Caldestino roof top its a party town room get clean daily rooftop hotrl its ok not busy if you want to go fora drink amd relax

Lo que no me agrado es que tenia el desayuno incluido y a pesar de que lo comenté en recepción no me indicaron que debía pedir un pase y cuando llegue el primer día terminé pagando doble porque me dijeron que como no pedí mi pase debía pagar mi desayuno que ya tenía incluido 😏

Great location right in heart of restaurants and shopping and only half a block from the beach. The roof-top pool is a great amenity but note that it's food service is separate from the hotel so you can't charge food to your room bill.

The employees in the hotel were very nice. We got to enjoy 7 days in this property. The only thing I do not like was they did not have enough alcohol at the bar in the rooftop.

Overall great value for the dollar, a comfortable bed and lots of storage space in the room. The breakfast was VERY good.

This was our third time to playa this year. Me and my fiancé decided to try a new place and we definitely regretted. It could’ve been worst but honestly I would not stay again. We purchased breakfast and it was terrible, silverware was always dirty and honestly it was just a horrible set up. They’re better off just not offering it if they’re not going to put effort in the food and presentation. Pool hammock was cut off and the pool was just not very clean. They have these ghetto concrete plates around the pool and honestly that’s a liability. The noise was horrible. Water pressure didn’t exist, and water was so salty in the shower. Just a big disconnect with the pictures on the site and staff was not very friendly.

Overall everything is very good except for the breakfast is not worth it very simple and take way too long to serve..
