This hotel has a lot going for it: a gorgeous setting in the woods, and a beautiful dining room with a lovely outlook. Pretty good location too, with a shuttle bus on demand to pop into town. The staff are outstanding - I was ill during my stay and they (and especially the wonderful Ken) could not have been kinder. However, this is seriously expensive for rooms that can only be described as Spartan - even for hard-core minimalists. Every wall in our rooms was scuffed, the bathroom smelled badly, and there was nowhere to hang or store clothing. We lived out of suitcases for four nights. The only dining option is a very expensive multi-course option which you must book well in advance - one evening we had nothing to eat and room service was unavailable. The idea that a 'wellness' retreat only offers foie gras options in the evening is a bit odd. The wonderful staff deserve better management!
