Stayed 4 nights

I just have 2 negative comments. We did not get to use the outdoor firepits. They were reserved every night we were there for events. Also, I feel like the breakfast ended really early - 9 am. The dinner ended at 7 which is early, but we wouldn't have eaten there anyway. I thought that $36/person for the buffet that didn't look that great was too expensive.

Kanuga resort was more than we expected. Great staff members, clean, attentive, most helpful, enjoyed our first time stay. Will return for another visit.

Nowhere on their website did they mention the lake had no water. They were also doing repairs so the walls had exposed wires. The bathrooms are reminiscent of a hospital bathroom. The rooms are poorly lit with no tv. Lots of history in the buildings just very dated rooms. The breakfast was really great.

Overall this place was excellent. We didn’t know they were under construction when we were coming. And while we look forward to coming back when it’s all done, it was just a shock, especially with young kids we just had to be extra aware. The lake was getting construction done as well so not a pretty view like the pictures you’ll see. The beds are kinda high and the floors are hard. Our youngest knows how to get down from a bed, but the higher bed made him hit his head on the floor. So bed rails as an option would be great for families- or bring one. That said, these beds were the most comfortable beds we have slept on in an hotel!!! Also no tv in the room. And that’s fine, again- just different. We wanted to use it for a sound machine but there wasn’t one. Also the room gets VERY dark at night! We love that! But also may want to bring a nightlight. Food was great! Staff were so sweet and helpful! I hate the library was closed when we were there too. We will be back after renovation to see this property at its fullest ! Bonus points, we saw a baby deer!
