Ramada London North

Its fine. It's on the northbound carriage way of the M1. There are two things worth knowing: 1. You have to pay extra for parking. To me, this is insane for a hotel on the motorway. Why not build a little more in to the price of the room. I would have been happier to pay this than being annoyed having to pay for parking, however little. 2. When you exit the car park, there is a no left turn sign, although my satnav said to go left. I went left and cut 30 minutes of my sounth-bound journey. Otherwise, its a motorway hotel and you get what you pay for.

Everything was okay it's just that as a guest of the hotel you still need to pay for parking which is £10 for 2nights.

Felt that it was a bit wrong to charge £5 to park in the motel grounds overnight when we were staying there. Where else were we supposed to park!

Stayed here many times before and always happy. Although they now charging £5.00 for parking which i was not impressed with!

Comfortable bed, clean and tidy room! Staff very helpful & polite. Used restaurant for dinner, and food was very good, reasonably priced too. One issue is the £5 parking charge on check-out! The system will not let you complete the check-out process until you make the payment. Irrespective if you have paid parking in advance to check-in (HGV parking account with SNAP).

The staffs ask me to paid for car parking as i booked through an online agent Expedia. I was too tired and did border to argued and paid but there is a big sign everywhere said free parking staying here... not good honesty

The room was not in the best condition, you could see where they have removed the AC and just put a plate over the wall, the bed had also been changed to a smaller one. There was also a £5 parking fee upon arrival

One of the worst places to stay ever. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Cleaning is horrible, room smelt of Damp and there was damp all over bathroom. There was sick on the basin which made me almost vomit. Hair stuck to the bath. I have put up pictures of the dirt NEXT to my pillow. We checked in really late and went straight to bed in the morning we were horrified by what we saw and where we slept. This hotel should be stripped of the name Ramada. I complained to front desk only to be told no manager present email us and was sent my way. Hotels.com please don’t put hotels like this in your site.

Dirty mattress and lots of black mould in bathroom

Avoid, avoid, avoid! Rude staff, filthy bathroom, bedroom and mattress, broken toilet seats, broken down beds, mold... We left after one (terrible night) and are awaiting an apology and refund.

The new check in process using machines (and also a person) is clunky and laborious particularly when you now also have to pay for parking. For the first time I’ve stayed here I thought the property condition has slipped, general areas looked like they need a good hoover and scrub and my room- particularly bathroom, needs an overhaul or deep clean. Spots/ dirty on ceiling. Mould and dirty around tiles. Surfaces in bedroom looked just about clean.

The bathroom was a mess, mould and hair in the bath. A panel on the side of the bath had sharp metal edge sticking out

Mould in bathroom and on bedroom wall. When reported to staff, was fobbed off and nothing done about it.

I have stayed in over 100 hotels in my business life and this is by far the worst . Unhelpful staff, dirty linen that didn’t fit the bed, I had to to change the mattress over due to stains, dirty bathroom, so noisy , windows didn’t shut right, carpet filthy, pillows smelt, room was disgusting. Enough said I feel, this was an awful experience.

The bathroom had mold, the bedroom was dirty, and the bathroom was dirty too. There were cobwebs everywhere, the mattress was dirty, the bed was broken, and there were hairs in the shower. There was no heating, the window was open, the curtains were dirty, the walls were dirty, and the floor was dirty. In fact, everything was dirty. La salle de bain avait de la moisissure, la chambre était sale et la salle de bain aussi. Il y avait des toiles d’araignée partout, le matelas était sale, le lit était cassé et il y avait des poils dans la douche. Il n’y avait pas de chauffage, la fenêtre était ouverte, les rideaux étaient sales, les murs étaient sales et le sol était sale. En fait, tout était sale.

Found underwear under our bed, room smelt of smoke, mold around ceiling in bathroom, no plug for bath, beds were like sleeping on springs...do not go.

room was OK, kids bed was essentially a mattress on the floor… heating in room didn’t work. not many plugs around room- there was literally two plugs & one of them was for the tv. there was hair in the bathroom, on the walls & in the bath. shower curtain was dirty.

1st room I checked into - you could not close the large windows (road side noise and cold), as the handles had been removed. The second room did have the windows closed, but still no handles, just holes where they should be. Rooms are very tired and show signs of wear and age. Alarms kept going off in the night, no guidance on what to do and no answers from reception to indicate if there was a problem or emergency. No reasons or apologies on the check out process. I recommend using an alternative hotel if available.

Thankfully I managed to get my 2 night booking on a cheap day rate, the only reason I have not given a 1 star rating. I have stayed here a few times before, each room has had a drafty window that doesn't seal properly, not what you want in February, it was especially cold during my stay to the point where I wore my jumper in bed. The heater/AC doesn't work properly, an oil fired plug in radiator was provided but was ineffective in heating up the room. The carpet is threadbare and dirty, sticky in places. For some reason families with kids were roaming the corridors until 3am, sporadically letting doors slam and generally being chatty and noisy with no consideration for other guests trying to sleep. A door alarm went off at 2am for 10 minutes straight. The staff seem to not be bothered with anything but the bare minimum, ie check in/out and now taking a fee for parking - which used to be free. Some guidance for noisy anti social guests is needed. The bathroom was clean, however the shower is unusable, due to it having only 2 setting, scalding hot or freezing cold. The breakfast buffet looked anemic and disgusting. If, like me, you're tempted by the low room rate, don't bother, you won't get much sleep and are a drive away from any local facilities. I won't be staying again.

Not a particularly well equipped room. Booked a triple family room, a grand total of 4 pillows between 3 beds. 1 Coffee cup between the three of us. Air con motor was quite loud. The train line is very noisy, there is little / no insulation to this. If I stay again, I will ask for a room the other side as it woke us all up in the night

Poor check in as I was firstly given a room that was stinking of stale cigarette smoke. I requested another room and was given a different room, with no apology regarding the first room. The 2nd room was very warm with broken air conditioning. The thermostat was reading 33.8 degrees !!!! Light were broken in the room and the shower was just a dribble. I asked for my room to be serviced…this did not happen either. This is quite possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I will never ever return.

Only 1 plug socket, air-conditioner didn't work room was very stuffy couldn't open a window. 4th bed was a mattress on a thin base very low. The mattress was hard and very uncomfortable, and poor lighting in the room. Wasn't value for money

The room was rather dated and tired. The TV didn’t work. I went to try and close the window to cut out the noise of the busy M1 motorway and the handle was loose in its housing, when I tried to turn the handle it just came apart. I needed a shave in the morning and there wasn’t any plug to fill the basin so had to do it with running water. I couldn’t be bothered to complain as I was only stopping there for the one night and will never stay there again. On the plus side, I do have to say the the staff at reception and bar/restaurant were very good indeed. I certainly won’t be staying there again.

This hotel was overall okay. The room we were in had seen better days -- Peeling laminate, scuffing on walls. However it was fairly clean. The shower had water pressure! There were only two outlets in the entire room and one was dedicated to the fan. The biggest issue we had was heat. The air con was out, and were were staying in a heat wave. The room's window only opened a tiny sliver due to a cable lock, so we could not get relief even at night. The fan's cord was not long enough to reach to the window to attempt to suck in some cooler air. The hotel was not that close to any transit. The closest bus stops were 3/4 of a mile away. Granted, it was a very pleasant walk through a park. Also, uber and food delivery were sometimes very confused how to get to the hotel. It was in a motorist service area off the M1, but there was a service entrance in a sketch alley in the back. Some folks knew about it, others did not. Made for some amount of confusion. Not a lot of dining nearby either. This hotel would have been much better if we had access to a vehicle. And functioning air con, or at least a window that would open more than a sliver.

Dated hotel. Needs a cash injection to bring it into the 21st century

At 20 minutes before my checkout time, your cleaning staff decided to enter the room I was in without my permission demanding that I check out. At that time I was naked and about to dress up. Additionally, there was a No Disturb sign at the door. I felt that was an invasion of my privacy and security at the hotel. I paid for the late checkout at 1pm which was not respected by the hotel. I have been using the Ramada hotel for over two years and there I am very disappointed to be violated and receive such unprofessional service.

Arrived at midnight, navigation directs you to the back entrance of the hotel and the staff is not much helpful, they don't show you the main entrance directions, they shut the conversation down at intercom "sorry this is back door and we cannot open use the front entrance" so I had to make additional 11 miles to find the way, they could open the door if they wanted, they don't care anything about you, they all work like they hate their job. Room aircon is not working, they put a ridiculous fan on the carpet which is terribly dirty.

I stayed at your hotel on 30/9/23. I checked into the hotel in the evening and at 1am 2 people entered my room. After becoming very distressed by this, they left. To compound my distress, 15 minutes later the reception repeatedly knocked on my door demanding I open the door. At this point, I did and I was questioned on my name and told that I had not checked in! I gave my name and he left. I went to reception as I was at this point extremely concerned that someone had a key to my room and was afraid to sleep. The reception just gave me another key card and offered me a drink from the bar! Hardly what I expected and I struggled to sleep for the remainder of the night. I am appalled by this practice and as a single woman, the reason for booking with you was that you are a reputable company and that I would be safe and secure during my stay. Please can someone get back to me in regards to this matter

The staff was great the whole time!

Just skeleton staff most of the time. For e.g. the person in reception had to work in the bar as well. That meant guests had to wait till the staff finished serving at the bar and vice versa. Not the fault of the staff of course. They were very polite. Cost cutting exercise, I guess. Room was not serviced properly before letting us in. No handsoap, no tissues and no very small toilet roll. Poor Fire alarm went off in the early hours of the morning and there was a lot of confusion.

Arrived in London for an impromptu Coldplay gig. Room was great size and clean. Staff friendly and nothing was an issue for them. Highly recommend

Bad experience at check in, we were told that I hadn’t paid and tried to charge me again. Room facilities are poor and in bad condition. Telephone in room didn’t work and there was not shower gel in the bathroom. Bathroom was in poor condition.

Very accommodating with the early check-in. Clean room. Staff friendly and helpful.

Rooms next to the train track can be quite noisy, stay here quite often & always welcomed by a smile all the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant

The minor inconvenience is that if you don’t have a car you would have to walk through a park and under the motorway bridge to get there. Which can get sketchy in the later hours of the night. So you have to rely on uber or bolt to get the safely also if you go there later than 8pm (walking path suggested by google maps) the exit of the park will get locked and the (walking) entrance towards the hotel can get locked too

Good place for a night or two. It is really difficult to get transport. Bolt and Uber drivers don't always want to come to that route.

The location is in the middle of M1 highway. It takes at least 6 miles to get to any reasonable place. The facility is kind of run down but acceptable.

Whatever you do, don’t stay there. It’s a terrible property. Very dirty and old. Walls are so thin that you can hear people talking in the hall and next rooms/ The staff is extremely rude and very unhelpful. Not near any public transportation. My daughter and I had to walk 20 minutes to a bus stop through a dangerous neighborhood. Even our Uber driver asked why we would ever stay there

great for car drivers - but essentially on a motorway service station.

Is a good place to sleep one night if you are driving and want to rest. Is certainly not a good place to spend hollidays in. Far away from center and from bus station you must cut trough a park. There is a restaurant and a close burgher king tho. Personal is ok but not 5 stars looks like a 2 stars. Rooms are clean but kinda ugly. There is a “gym”

The price was reasonable but the location meant that there were no local facilities available other than the Motorway Services. Check in was smooth and the staff friendly. In the room it appeared clean. The window handle was broken and the windows did not seal well allowing the noise from the nearby railway and traffic to disturb rest. The food in the restaurant was overcooked but service was good. There was a good selection for breakfast but I found it cold.

We paid for breakfast for the two days we were there, however as breakfast was inedible on the first day, we didn't bother with breakfast on the second day and went elsewhere for food.

Clean and well-presented lobby and room. Reasonable parking option, which is good for 24h from arrival time. Breakfast was very good and had what you would expect for a full English, along with continental options—reasonable price. Location is excellent for car travellers as it is just off the A1, in the back end of a rest stop, and very quiet. Best part is this hotel is pet-friendly 🐶.

Restaurant was a joke. Bringing out dessert before I even had my main course. Staff shouting at each other not be staying again

The food at the hotel was really nice. The staff are friendly. Rooms were clean.

The entrance to the hotel looked very posh as was reception however, when we went to the room it was very dated. There was wear and tear to parts of the room which didn’t really bother us but we did expect more from a Ramada hotel. The room could also do with more plug sockets. 2 sockets in a triple room when a fan (which didn’t rotate and was rickety) needed to be plugged in as the room was so hot which left one socket for the tv, kettle, our hair driers, straighteners and phone chargers. The restaurant was more like a canteen. We only had breakfast which was buffet style. On the photos it looked amazing. However, there was no choice of egg, only scrambled and no black pudding. There was no fruit on either day and on the Saturday there was one croissant which looked like it had been sat on. We had to ask for the coffee machine to be fixed and although the waitress did fix it, I got the impression she wasn’t very happy. When getting juice, I noticed ants on the drip tray. On the Sunday, there were 2 staff working. The majority of the tables were uncleared. We had to ask for plates so we could get our breakfast. The breads, pastries and juices were empty. One of the waiters had been asked for things to be filled up but again it seemed like a huge effort and the only thing filled up while we were there was the juices. Again when getting our juice there were ants on the drip trays. I heard another guest mention it the waiter and he just wiped them into the drip tray.

The staff were pleasant. The hotel is rather 'tired' especially the bathroom. No Plug socket next to the bed for mobile phone to be connected. Breakfast was not as good as in the past. The 'hot food' was cold despite being on a heated plate - it had obviously been sitting for a while. The fruit salad is tinned rather than fresh fruit. Cheese was dry and not refreshed.

Pleasant check in. Facilities basic and room quite grubby with broken top window ( no handle) so open all night! Dirt on edges of bed base also. Breakfast was lovely and ample parking but no charging facilities as stated…these are only at the actual service station. Overall if cheap enough on the day of choice then it’s a good bargain stay with great breakfast and staff.
