Serious hygiene and handling failures during a family stay We stayed as a family in two rooms with our young child. Shortly before checkout, used contraceptives left by a previous guest were found under one of the beds, in a room that had supposedly been cleaned and prepared for us. Two of our party came into contact with them while finding them, and a child could just as easily have found them first. What concerned us most was how it was handled. When we reported it, we were first told there was nothing there, and the items were then removed rather than properly recorded. We were promised a call from management within about an hour and a half, which never came. To be fair, management's first written response was courteous and apologetic, and a refund was offered. In practice, though, the refund was incomplete and had to be chased, and once we raised this and asked how the matter had been handled internally, the tone changed and our questions went unanswered. Cleanliness and honesty are the basics you expect from any hotel, let alone a branded one. The initial apology was appreciated, but the follow-through did not match it. I would think carefully before booking here as a family.
