MainStay Suites Florence - Darlington

I like the room it was great. I book here because of it had a swimming pool (it was dirty and not even ready to be used. I wanted breakfast it did not have anything just coffee o hot water for tea. It look like it’s getting renovated because just some rooms were available. I hope when they finish it like the picture on the website.

Simple place to stay, I get they are under construction but there was no breakfast or pool or fitness room as advertised.

Dead bugs in the floor, pool was stupid dirty with dark green water. No breakfast like it said online. The hotel overall was pathetic. The pictures make it look 1000x better than it actually is

It’s need some work on the pool and breakfast. The rooms are great it has a very clean bathrooms and great bed.

The outside of the doors were rusted off there were odd people lounging all over the property and the smell was not good of a skunk

Stale air in lobby, poor paint on exterior, cigarette butts on walkway, people loitering on walkway, room not as expected. We did not feel safe here, it was weird. Checked in, checked out, went to another place.

Place is actively renovating. Employees not English fluent. I was sent to 3 rooms to “check if they were ready” eventually given a “suite” with missing curtains and moldy chair in bedroom. Common area littered with construction trash, guest trash and overall dirty. And no breakfast

Check in lady was nice, said we had a pool view. The pool was only 1/3 full of green water. We were moved to a room with parking lot view to see our car. The phone did not work. The TV did not work, no connection to a network. Front desk girl could not locate a manager or maintenance person to fix anything. We only stayed as the beds were new & comfortable, there was very little choice in the town. We did get on the adjacent hotel Wi-Fi to watch a movie on our laptop. The bath sink would not drain at all. The rooms are called suites with fridge, cooktop, small coffee pot. We went out to eat. But absolutely no utensils, cookware or dishes to accommodate anyone who panned for this.

This property has so many things wrong with it, it should NOT be part of Expedia's line up, it is that bad, nowhere close to ANYone's standards. Plus the employees LIE. I asked and was told breakfast was 6-9 but in fact there was ZERO breakfast even though it's stated they have a "full" breakfast on the website. No entrance light switch. Light switches that do nothing. No hot water in shower.No lip on shower edge so the water just pours on the floor. No fan cover in one bathroom and couldn't turn that jet engine sounding fan off. Other bath had no fan at all and a toilet that runs. No shelves at all in full size fridge. Not one dresser, not one hanger, zero place and zero way to hang anything. TV said it has apps but there were none. Construction going on in the back of the hotel, but honestly it appears they "redid" (if you can call it that) the room we were in, but horribly. You cannot just add a new sink to on an old counter with rusted doorframes and call it a "redo". Marks all over the doors. The tub was full of paint drops. But when the water never got hot it didn't matter because i couldn't get in it! There was no clear marked entrance to the place. The front entrance looked closed, it was so dark inside, that we drove around the whole building looking for it. The pavement around the whole hotel was full of so many huge and deep potholes. Unbelievable.

This “hotel” was absolutely disgraceful. It shouldn’t even be open for business. Expedia should not even list this as a property. Check in was at 3pm didn’t get in till 630pm. Get to hotel ceiling tile is falling out of the entrance. Looks abandoned. Gets into room absolutely foul flour is sticky nothing is clean shower is covered in dirt and backing up dirty water. Cigarette burns all over the place. Furniture looks like it was picked up on the side of the road. We had to go buy our own bleach and wipes to clean the place to be able to shower. Walked around in shoes the whole stay. Lock to door was broken off. I have so many pictures of this awful motel hotel.

Beware, don’t stay here! The “suite” we paid for was actually two side by side rooms neither of which seemed at all safe from intrusion. I set a trap by leaning a table against the door of the non sleeping room to alert us if someone did break in while we slept (we would hear the table hit the floor). The room was filthy and disgusting. We found pubic hairs on towels and on used complimentary underarm deodorant. A fly, which had been killed while on the wall, was still stuck there. One toilet, which had been used prior to our arrival, still had urine and toilet paper in it. The bathroom counter was greasy and sticky, as were almost all the other surfaces. In the bathtubs were nonslip papers that were covered in dirty footprints. I couldn’t imagine a room looking worse, even if that was the intention. We removed the comforter, which we must admit was tucked in and gave the only semblance of cleanliness, and underneath the sheets were left untucked. The thought of sleeping in a bed that might be crawling with bugs was the last straw. I spoke to the gentleman at the front desk and he stated we would be refunded later. When I asked why he couldn’t do it now he said he was busy helping another customer. The customer to whom he was referring was a woman who, just minutes earlier, told him her friend had the credit card and she was in the bathroom, so he could take care of me first. He printed out a full refund receipt. Later we noticed he charged us three timed for the room.

Trash piled up everywhere outside. The area and outside of the hotel and the area were sketchy. The bed wasn’t comfortable.

There were cockroaches in the room and they wouldnt let me switch rooms when i asked. Waited at the desk for 15 minutes and no one showed up for me to check out so i called them and then told me to leave the keys in the room so i left the room keys in the room and now they wont return my deposit because i didnt check out properly despite following their instructions

What a dump! This hotel should not be open at all. There is a huge dumpster in the back that is full of residential type trash. I think the hotel is subsidizing houses for their workers and that's where they're putting their trash. We saw several rats coming to and from the dumpster towards the building. The whole property stinks inside and out. The room was dank and unclean. The free breakfast that was advertised was non-existent. I do not believe I would have ate it anyway looking at the conditions of this property. On top of all of this I was charged an extra fee to pay cash at the hotel when I got there but the hotel charged the full amount to my card anyway. When I spoke to the clerk I was told to contact the third party in which I booked the room from but the hotel was the one that charged my card. If there was ever going to be a show called quote Hotel nightmares"? This would be the premier episode. Do not stay here, you have been warned!

I have images of the mold growing on the baseboards and dirt was all under the beds it was disgusting - there is black mold in the rooms and is a health hazard this place should be shut down. Then when I tried to get my money back because the room was so disgusting, it even had stains on the bed and holes on the bed from cigarette smoke. He didn’t wanna give me back my money. Thank God I booked it through Expedia had I not I would never have gotten my money back.

The place was unbelievable disgusting. Mattress stained, there was trash all over the facility. A moldy chair was left outside. A housekeeping cart was left abandoned outside. This was the most unsanitary facility I’ve ever seen.

There was construction being done on the hotel so things being out of order is understandable however neither of the televisions worked no matter how we tried and Wi-Fi was nonexistent even tho it was advertised there was no Wi-Fi and upon check in the man at the counter was less than nice he definitely let it be known he was not happy to be there working or that we arrived 30 minutes early even though we paid an extra fee to check in early.

This hotel was not a typical MainStay Suites. It looks like they took over a local run down motel and put their name on it. You can tell they are doing some renovations, but even the rooms that are already renovated still need some work. Our bathroom door was coming apart at the bottom and did not have a locking door knob. The door knob on the inside of the bathroom door was covered in dry plaster. Our front door did not lineup with the door frame properly and needed some extra muscle to get it to close all the way. The tub had a large rectangular white stick on cover up an area of the tub that was scraped or messed up somehow, but didn't even cover all the marks. The ad for the hotel said breakfast was included. Unless a liquid coffee breakfast is your thing, there was nothing else provided. The eat in area where I assume breakfast might normally be served was blocked off. I booked 2 non-smoking rooms, yet one of them smelled like a smoke factory. When asked for a different room, they claimed they were full and came down with some kind of fragrance spray. They sprayed the curtain and area over the fan/blower and said, "There you go." What the heck? And there was an outlet in one room, right next to the bed that did not work at all. I would not stay here again and makes me question the MainStay Suites brand now.

They are in the process of upgrading but our room looked nice until we saw the bathroom. I wouldn’t shower there and the toilet leaked ever time you flushed it. My husband was concerned about all the foot traffic so he didn’t sleep.

They had none of the things that rhey advised and the air-conditioning only worked half the time.

I would not recommend this hotels or anyone because they are doing a major renovations and so they don’t have any place to hang your clothes. The floor was dirty the tub was dirty and it continues flies was in the building. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone at this present time the staff was fairly friendly, but I was disappointed and there was no pool no breakfast like they said they gave us bag lunches.

They cancelled my reservation without calling or emailing me! I showed up with my family in the middle of night to check in and I was told it was cancelled and I have to find another place to stay. So disappointed with the front desk too ! No explanation given

The hotel wasn't clean and they charged my credit card after I left. After viewing the room, I turned the key in and told them I wanted to cancel the reservation. The room cost 88 dollars but put a 100 dollar holding fee for the room, which wasn't returned.

Property offers to go bags with a water and biscuit instead of breakfast. The guy was nice to change our room after initial one which was not clean.

This place was almost scary. I had strange people knocking on my door and I was verbally accosted by guest drinking on the balcony. They took a $100 deposit which I have yet to get back. The room was dank and cold and I couldn’t wait to check out. I am extremely disappointed. This place should not even be open as there was construction everywhere and the lobby was in shambles. DO NOT STAY HERE!! Matter of fact don’t use expedia!!! We drove 10 hours to see a nascar race when we got to the hotel to check in we were given a room with one bed when we paid for a room with 2 the staff are basically illiterate the room smelled like piss there were prostitutes and drug addicts in all of the rooms matter of fact while I was inside trying to get my money back some guy tried to assault my girlfriend the guy at the desk had his teenage daughter walking around the lobby in a very inappropriate “night gown” there was a huge rancid puddle of standing water that looked like the bubonic plague was growing in it while I was demanding my money back there was a line of people waiting to do the same one guy said there was no toilet seat on his toilet as soon as we walked in the douche at the counter slammed his hand on a sign that said the tv’s didn’t work but hey I guess if you’re smoking crack or turning tricks you don’t need a tv anyway had to pay for another hotel because Expedia made me wait three days for my refund I got it on the drive home I could go on but PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THIS ROACH MOTEL you’ll probably leave with bed bugs and hepatitis a b and c Expedia is terrible bet they don’t post this review oh but they gave me a 25$ credit for my next near death experience THANKS EXPEDIA!!

This place is under construction and has extended stay residents who sit outside playing loud music most of the night. Do not recommend!

This property is in a very unsafe area. It should be listed as transitional housing instead of as a hotel. I felt things crawling on me when i laid down.

Sketchy people outside

Did not accept the room at check in due to cleanliness and the restaurant was also closed. There was no mention of any of these problems on the website!

“Free breakfast” was a brown bag with crackers and a tasty cake. Better than nothing but like c’mon man. Also place was under construction and I’m not sure anyone cleaned the shower. Also toilet was clogged when we got there but they left me a plunger so I guess it worked out.

The breakfast that they our advertising came in a brown paper bag with a tiny water, a small packet of crackers and a tiny mini muffin. Also, the floors of the walkways of the motel are dirty. I think it's under new ownership and they are remodeling but a brown paper bag for breakfast? Really? Not sure what the coffee maker was all about, pretty amateur looking if you ask me. Not able to drink the nasty coffee. My room didn't have a number on it. Hopefully they get there act together. Also, didn't really feel that safe.

It was poor. “Breakfast “ was a bag with cheese crackers, a Little Debbie Cake and a small bottled water. Room was clean, but no sink drain covers, no ice machine, very wrinkled sheets and pillow cases and bed spread. The front desk attendant had such a heavy accent he was I’m impossible to understand. Awakened at 3:30 with continuous knocking on a door nearby with no inroom phone to call the front desk. The outdoor area was not clean. Ti had trash and cigarette buts on the ground. We will not be staying at MainStay Suites again.
