Breakfast was good, and the staff were very friendly. Parking was easy and despite being next to a road it was quiet in the room. The hotel building is in need of a bit of a refurb but the restaurant building was quite nice. Unfortunately the room could have been cleaner, the bed wasn't made properly and there was a lot of hair in the bath plug which was really horrible.

This was ideal for an over night stay, with free parking, close to Derby Royal Hospital for us to visit a relative, which was only a 10 min walk away, this saved on parking fee's and queuing at the Hospital. The pub was excellent for food with a nice atmosphere. The carvery was delicious! We had the breakfast too, which was good. We would stay again, the beds were comfy and clean but it really does needs modernising and updating.

There were lots of spider webs,curtains had dust and l was coughing all night because of dust .I had 3 nights 2 nd day l request cleaning to my surprise they didn't clear the dust and spider webs the other bedside bed lamp was not working.

1st room was absolutely discusting, given a second room and that had mould in the bathroom, my wifes anxiety went through the roof, i called to try get a refund but they said we had to go through expedia, we didnt stay there because we were very disgusted with the place, we travelled back home

Location was good for what I wanted, but I arrived with my bags at the hotel reception only to find that I had to go into the pub to book in. On entering the hotel it smelt stale in and looked very well worn. The room felt tired and grubby but the bedding was very clean and the bed comfortable.

The hotel is situated in a great location, close to amenities and convenient for getting around. The room itself was comfortable, and the bed provided a good night’s sleep. However, the bathroom left a lot to be desired. Upon entering there was an unpleasant smell and closer inspection revealed hygiene issues such as hairs on the toilet and in the bathtub. More concerning were what appeared to be stains on the wall near the bath. As someone who always travels with cleaning wipes, I took the time to clean the surfaces myself and noticed significant soap scum, dirt along the tub, and mouldy sealant that clearly needed attention. It’s a shame as the rest of the room was quite decent. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and maintenance in the bathroom, this could be a much better experience overall.

Parking was good, bed was clean and comfortable, but the bathroom had peeling paint, a loose panel under the sink and the bath/shower tap leaked all night. The bathroom did not smell ‘fresh’ in the politest terms.

Although general cleanliness was okay the room we were in had what we thought were brown stains on the outside of toilet pan and some sort of droppings to the left of the toilet pan. Could have been easily cleaned by the housekeeping staff

Exactly what you’ve expect from a budget hotel next to a pub. Rooms are basic but plenty big enough and clean; enough parking on site; and generally it’s a good option for a cheap one-night stay. No frills but nothing wrong with it.

Not great to be honest - check in and out involved going into the pub and a rather stretched receptionist/ barmaid. There was a really bad smell of either drains or illicit substances in the hallways on the way to our room and in the morning we were treated to the loud unloading of a lorry delivering to the pub from before 8am. Beds were clearly two singles together so if you ended up in the middle of the bed you were left if pain and from a personal preference the tea bag make was awful and two teabags feels a bit stingy.

Staff in pub very nice as were the cleaning staff. Room and communal areas very tired but bed was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately didn’t sleep well due to being able to hear others talking in their rooms and slamming of the doors at all times. Overall you pay for what you get and it was very reasonable

Stayed here on new years eve wanted somewhere close enough that was in walking distance to pubs but quiet enough this was perfect the room was nice and big and there was plenty of furniture and plenty of space had a sofa and an enormous bed that was prob the most comfortable bed ive slept on brilliant stay will be back

My stay at Kings Way was superb, a real pleasure to stay there. I have to single out Gemma for praise. With me having a disability, there help I received from Gemma was second to none. She is a massive credit to Marstons and should be promoted.

Booked through hotels.com on the basis of price, location and ability to pay on arrival. The payment was taken two days before arrival, hotel said they have no control and the messages I send them through hotels.com are not received by them. Not sure of the truth in that but won’t use hotels.com again. Hotel was ok. Easy to find and check in. On arrival we only had one pillow each, asked for more and told they don’t have any. There was only one large and one hand towel in the room, didn’t bother wasting my time asking again. Room was very comfortable, another guest gave us pillows spare from their room. Room was dated and could do with some repairs but was clean and very good value for money. Had they not of taken the money from my card and let me pay on arrival as arranged, supplied the pillows and towels it would have been 5*

Check in was in the adjacent pub but it took 10 minutes for a member of bar staff to appear. Someone walked past and saw me waiting but took no notice. Basin tap was loose and, at best, provided only lukewarm water. Two of us staying but towels only provided for one person. Tea and coffee facilities appreciated but no teaspoons. We checked in at 9.30pm and really couldn't be bothered to try and find someone to attend to these matters. I suggest you ensure the bar is attended at all times, your cleaners check taps etc and a checklist is produced to ensure the rooms are adequately prepared for occupants. Absolute basics in my opinion.

Paid for the continental breakfast, but they did not offer everything they promised. No yoghurt, lack of fruit. Our key cards stopped working on the main door into the building so had to continuously get them replaced at the pub. No spare pillows for my step mother with sciatica. Most of the staff, but not all, were not very helpful.

Staff very friendly, courteous, pleasant and professional. Comfortable room and bed, shower very good. Excellent dining options, well prepared, well served, reasonably priced and very tasty. Quiet surroundings, easy access. Door to bathroom impossible to close: out of alignment. Toilet seat needs securing properly. No chain on bath plug making it awkward to remove plug and empty water out after use. These can easily be remedied. Overall impression: - Very impressed. Will definitely stay again. It would help if you knew before hand about check in at the pub. Walking back and forward wastes time and in the dark and rain with all your stuff is a bit of a hassle. Room was adequate, cold til i turned heater on full for a few hours. Previous occupant had clearly punched the bathroom door causing damage which doesnt look good

Lovely helpful staff, we stayed when it was 30 degrees and they went out of their way to find us a fan for the room. Basic rooms but spacious and clean which is all we needed. The pub is great, loads of parking, good food. Walking distance to Royal Derby hospital so ideal for our needs. Would recommend

Check-in was fine. Room was ok - although he’d very soft. Check-out took >20mins because they couldn’t figure how to print the invoice, despite it being pay at property. They had also incorrectly charged the card on the reservation before check in without asking if that was correct (booking was pay at property).

Had a 2 night stay. I'd originally only booked one but was not able to add a second night via the app, so made a separate booking. I contacted the hotel to explain at the beginning of November and was assured that it was all sorted, the bookings had been merged. Checked in - lady on reception said 'for 1 night' - no 2. Then room key stopped working after dinner. Dinner was nice, well cooked and good service. Room was clean and comfortable. Saturday went out in the morning, came back had a shower and was disturbed by housekeeping coming to clean the room 'because i should have checked out by now' - no i'm here for 2 nights as per email start of the month and conversation with reception yesterday. Saturday night dinner surf and turf/mixed grill. Mixed grill had different sausages to friday, chicken really dry. Surf and turf had to change the sauce after ordering and paying. No sauce with meal ordered as an extra, no tartare sauce which supposed to come with meal. Staff did not come to ask if everything ok until after meal eaten. Pointed out i'd paid for an extra sauce i never received, no offer of a refund. Pub like a creche with young children running around. Friday was much better than Saturday but would stay again.

Good location, minutes from Derby centre. Large clean room. Good facilities. Pub was fine friendly staff especially at breakfast time. Only downside was a noise for quite a few hours after midnight. We were next to housekeeping room/facilities so sounded like a washing machine?!

Absolutely fantastic stay . The staff who were on was top notch . Couldnt fault them . Friendly and welcoming. We also dined and had the mac and chees which was lovely and the carvery was outstanding . Carvery chef made sure all food was nice hot and fresh and was very nice and polite . Credit to the landlord

Cheap, but not good value. Shabby, smelly, dirty. Not enough towels - asked for another and pleasant response but no action. Only 1 bedside table. Sink blocked, so filled rapidly then drained slowly. On the plus side large comfortable bed and decent linen. Breakfast good but ruined by nasty instant coffee with flasks of tepid water.

everything was fine, pretty much as expected. I've given the 4 because the only coffee on offer at breakfast is instant. If you wanted a "proper" coffee, you had to order and pay for it at the bar. It's 2025, the coffee is just as important as the food for breakfast.
