I've stayed at the Stuart a number of times over the last 20 years and each time, it's slightly less good than the last. To be honest I'm not sure why it's in Best Western's portfolio; I think it needs a proper makeover. My colleague and I didn't eat in the hotel in the evening; the menu was basic and there was no atmosphere. Breakfast was pretty good, to be fair. The room was clean and comfortable, though the shower (room 125) was small and awkward; it didn't have an internal fan, and the door kept closing, which was annoying. All in all the whole place seems 'tired'; it really could be so much better.

The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, they had a nice warm space heater and I had a good nights sleep because it was nice and quiet. Convenient location near to Derby train station. Staff were helpful and polite and I would definitely stay here again.

Very helpful lady on reception who booked us a taxi. The room was comfortable with a spotless bathroom, but it wasn't easy to get into the bath, but I have got a dodgy hip.

Good size TV in room, but other than that it was very basic and run down. The shower head was disgusting, lots of mould around the water outlets so I chose not to use it. The staff were very polite and friendly. It is a shame as the hotel is in an ideal location for where I am working, however for the same price I'd prefer (and recommend others) to book a Travelodge and travel a mile in the mornings.
