Whoever called this a four Star property was dreaming; it's a three star pushing towards two. The security door at the front of the hotel was broken in the open position. The decor looks like it hasn't been updated in 20 years. To call the rooms sparse would be generous. No charging points. The floor tiles in the bathroom were broken and the floor waterlogged. Mould on the grouting. Everything was the cheapest version of the most basic offering possible. There's a Premier Inn next door; go there instead.

My room (214) was a really lovely room and it was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was super too. However, there were some things other than the room that niggled me. The double doors between sections of the second floor often banged even when you were trying to pass through them quietly. This is just annoying (and noisy!) for all concerned. I had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the Saturday evening and it was absolutely fine but I did feel that the two guys running the show (one on the bar, one on the floor) were stretched a little thin. Maybe it was a one-off, but resourcing this properly should be looked at. And finally, I went to the Reception desk on the 4th floor after breakfast to enquire about the car park discount and to say I was packing up my things and will be leaving shortly. She said not to worry about bringing my card back up and told me to leave it in my room. She checked if I owed anything and think she must have checked me out as I was locked out of my room when I went back downstairs to finish packing. I had to go back up to the 4th floor and get it sorted. Also, the promised £8 discount wasn't applied to my car park charges when I was exiting the basement car park (Derbion) despite me adding my registration number to the system on Reception. Things like this are so basic, and SO easy to get right!

Car parking console to get discount parking did not work, hotel was a bit tired but clean and the bar had nothing on draft, only cans charged at £5 each. Would have been okay if sold as a cheap and cheerful place, but not a ‘good’ hotel by any means.

I chose this property as it was directly on top of the bus station (we were going to see Black Sabbath in Birmingham, had coach tickets from Derby to Villa Park, and the pick up point was Derby bus station). There was no parking on site, but the secure parking on Bold Lane is between a 5 and 10 minute walk from the hotel. I can't fault anything about the hotel - it was clean, the room was a good size, all the usual things were provided - towels, shower gel, shampoo, tea and coffee. There was a fridge in our room (don't know whether this is standard in all the rooms). All the staff that we had any dealings with - reception, bar staff, cleaners, dining room - without exception were brilliant. Friendly and helpful, you felt nothing was too much trouble. Special shout out to Bethany, the (for want of a better description) Maitre d' - when we went for breakfast, she said if we wanted anything, such as pancakes, that wasn't on the breakfast buffet, to just ask. She also came round topping up your fruit juice when she wasn't greeting customers. The breakfast choice was excellent - there was a healthy option section, a hot buffet section, and a section with tea, coffee, cereal and fruit juices. I can't really comment on the area around the property, as we didn't arrive until about 9pm on the Friday night, we were up and out of the hotel for 8.30am on the Saturday morning, back there at 1am Sunday morning and left to go home at 10.30am on Sunday.

Hotel was clean and tidy, and quiet. With no parking or advertising of where to park it’s quite awkward to unload a car or get your belongings to the hotel as it’s a good 5 minute walk through a shopping centre. On entering location of the reception is on 4th floors but needs to be advised more clearly at the entrance. Due to building work there entrance isn’t the most enticing currently. We were not made aware of any building work being undertaken. The bed was not the most comfortable as we sunk into the middle, but the room was clean and warm and what was needed for an overnight stay.

Everything was a nice order. Did not realize there was a gym in the hotel. Receptionist was helpful only problem was the reception was on the 4th floor rather than ground floor. Bed were comfortable and housekeepers were around to keep the rooms tidy

Lovely hotel. Would love to use it again when we visit family in Derby but my husband is disabled and a blue badge holder. The description parking available at £8 a day implies the park is on site in fact it was in the basement of the shopping centre opposite with either a very long walk around or several flights of steps as lifts were not working. If you are able bodied it is a fantastic hotel. If you are struggling with mobility and heart condition not the best choice if you are driving.

The room wasn’t very clean and very warm. They had an AC which doesn’t work well. And a fan. But again, the fan wasn’t very quiet. Randomly there would be some noise of either the lights of fan that would go on for a while and then stop. Bathroom wants every clean either, and all round a very average room to stay in. Staff were lovely.

We had a mostly positive experience at the Holiday Inn Derby Riverlights. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were genuinely lovely—friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable overall, though the bathrooms could use a little attention, particularly the grout, which appeared brown or dirty in places. Unfortunately, one of our rooms had an issue with the air conditioning. We had chosen the hotel in part because it advertised AC, but despite contacting the front desk, we were told it was motion activated. Hairs on bed. Room not cleaned properly. Loud domestic staff on morning woke me up. Shouting outside while cleaning the adjacent room. Also knocked loudly on my door at 9:15am. Check in was slow and interrupted by theamager multiple times..

We didn't have breakfast so know review on this. Room spotless and comfortable. Hotel is in great location. They were a bit pushy one night during to stay in to us getting food, we were asked 4 times within a short period of time, we hadn't asked for food we am had just gone for a drink in reception area.

The hotel was in a convenient place as close to everything we required during the weekend. We didn't use its facilities as ate and drank out in Derby. However the bed in the hotel was awful. It sank in the middle giving us the most uncomfortable sleep in a hotel ever. Ive never felt so unrested and tired.

Staff and hotel were lovely. Derby is obviously a bit of a party town at night and as such there was quite a bit of disturbing noise when trying to sleep. Super close to the city centre though.

Excellent, very central location but still very quiet. ENORMOUS and really comfy bed, large room and very clean. Only downside was the aircon wasn't working but it didn't get too hot. Excellent, very central location but still very quiet. ENORMOUS and really comfy bed, large room and very clean. Only downside was the aircon wasn't working but it didn't get too hot. We stayed for two nights, check in was smooth, and hotel is centrally located next to the river, bus station and shopping area. We went out for the evening and left our air con on, but on returning the room was not cool, we decided it wasn't going to be a good night so went to reception to complain. Immediately we were offered the chance to change rooms and while they ensured the room was ready a complimentary drink at the bar. The staff couldn't have done more to help. There was an issue with the TV suddenly coming on in the middle of the night which is disconcerting and it happened both nights. Despite the problems we encountered we enjoyed our short stay because of the staff All staff in the hotel; reception, bar, restaurant, and the local management team, are extremely customer focused and do everything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible

My room (214) was a really lovely room and it was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was super too. However, there were some things other than the room that niggled me. The double doors between sections of the second floor often banged even when you were trying to pass through them quietly. This is just annoying (and noisy!) for all concerned. I had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the Saturday evening and it was absolutely fine but I did feel that the two guys running the show (one on the bar, one on the floor) were stretched a little thin. Maybe it was a one-off, but resourcing this properly should be looked at. And finally, I went to the Reception desk on the 4th floor after breakfast to enquire about the car park discount and to say I was packing up my things and will be leaving shortly. She said not to worry about bringing my card back up and told me to leave it in my room. She checked if I owed anything and think she must have checked me out as I was locked out of my room when I went back downstairs to finish packing. I had to go back up to the 4th floor and get it sorted. Also, the promised £8 discount wasn't applied to my car park charges when I was exiting the basement car park (Derbion) despite me adding my registration number to the system on Reception. Things like this are so basic, and SO easy to get right!

Had to wait 10 minutes for the manager so we could check in, apparently there were only 2 people working and 1 of them was the manager. This hotel was so much better when it was the Hampton ls. Rooms very basic. Cleaner knocked on the door around 10am wanting to clean.

I chose this property as it was directly on top of the bus station (we were going to see Black Sabbath in Birmingham, had coach tickets from Derby to Villa Park, and the pick up point was Derby bus station). There was no parking on site, but the secure parking on Bold Lane is between a 5 and 10 minute walk from the hotel. I can't fault anything about the hotel - it was clean, the room was a good size, all the usual things were provided - towels, shower gel, shampoo, tea and coffee. There was a fridge in our room (don't know whether this is standard in all the rooms). All the staff that we had any dealings with - reception, bar staff, cleaners, dining room - without exception were brilliant. Friendly and helpful, you felt nothing was too much trouble. Special shout out to Bethany, the (for want of a better description) Maitre d' - when we went for breakfast, she said if we wanted anything, such as pancakes, that wasn't on the breakfast buffet, to just ask. She also came round topping up your fruit juice when she wasn't greeting customers. The breakfast choice was excellent - there was a healthy option section, a hot buffet section, and a section with tea, coffee, cereal and fruit juices. I can't really comment on the area around the property, as we didn't arrive until about 9pm on the Friday night, we were up and out of the hotel for 8.30am on the Saturday morning, back there at 1am Sunday morning and left to go home at 10.30am on Sunday.

The room was standard but ok. The heating was off and was freezing and took a long time to warm up. The hotel was very loud and guest shouting up the corriders at night. The reason we booked here was because breakfast was included. We were informed that all the ovens were broken and there was only cereal and bread and we got rushed out of the restaurant soon after.

Lovely Hotel, Great room, clean and tidy. Everything was good except Breakfast which was awful. Nothing left and had to wait for something to appear all at different times. So had half breakfast warm and to go back for the other half later. Fruit juices run out, coffee machine broke, no sugar. It just went from bad to worse.
