Excellence Playa Mujeres- All Inclusive- Adults Only

Terrible experience. Won’t be back. The property is clearly 25 years old. Room was hot. Pool waiters were great, but the swim up bar had the WORST bartenders. Terrible attitude towards everyone. Told us “No” on making drinks if it took more than 1 or 2 ingredients. If you plan to hang out at all in the evening later than 8 PM, don’t stay here. Pool bar closes at 6 PM. Pools close at 8 PM. Restaurants were absolute trash. Oregano, the Italian restaurant was the ONLY decent experience. Magna, which is limited to Excellence Club, is NOT worth it. Service was mediocre and their “famous” tomahawk steak was a 3.5/10 at best. Seasons Transfers was amazing though. Both ways. Super clean Suburban and very professional driver. Highly recommend them. The transfers and our trip to Isla for the day was the ONLY thing I would recommend.

Stayed near the spa and had very tranquil morning dips in the lazy river. Food was good. Facilities cleaned meticulously. Staff was very nice

The service was impeccable, and if something was wrong, they made up for it. I felt safe and well-cared for, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The club beach area had excellent service and someone tidied up the room 2-3x/daily with turn-down service. Just a lovely experience including the hydrotherapy spa treatment. The gym is amazing, and they will be expanding it. I would definitely return to this property.

I wish there were more chairs around the main pool

Hotel was great, but we were surprised to find that a hotel of this quality didn’t have enough beach chairs for its guests. Also, it appeared that the hotel was understaffed

Great property, beautiful lush vegetation on the grounds, several excellent restaurants. Some exceptional staff members include Lucy, our waitress at the beach, wait staff at Spice restaurant and the Grill, Raul at the Kitchen table and the boys from the entertainment staff. Only challenge was ensuring we find a set of chairs at the beach. Always involved planning and competing with people who reserve chairs. Otherwise- a great stay. We’d go back for sure!

LOVED it! Our best resort experience yet! My only small gripe would be that the wifi was really spotty throughout the resort and they could add some more chairs to the beachfront to accommodate guests.

We spent a very enjoyable week in this great all inclusive adult only resort. The site is enjoyable including the main pools, the surrounding lazy rivers the restaurants, bars, and white sand beach with a lot water sport activities. We loved the visit at Chechen Iza and Isla Mujeres. The staff is very welcoming, friendly, dedicated in their various tasks and dependable. I would advise the resort management the following two things for consideration: 1. Consider including on-site night club(s) to provide that kind of experience to guests. The silent music show and the DJ parties are great but a night club experience would add even more pleasurable experience. 2. Mosquitoes around the pools can be quite annoying in the late afternoon/early evening. The resort may consider installing commercial size mosquito buzzers can are very effective in dealing with mosquitoes. The above suggestions don’t by no means reduce the high quality of all the services provided, which I highly recommend. I will deficit one back.

Overall it was amazing experience, however the elevator in building 7 was out of service too often which caused an inconvenience and the Wi-Fi was very weak. The 7 restaurants gave a variety of Yummy food. Will visit again.

The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent for an all inclusive. Great entertainment every evening. The grounds, hotel room, pool were immaculate. People cleaning all day, every day. We compared it to the cleanliness of Disneyland. IFKYK!

Had a wonderful stay! We would come again. Food was good, pools are well maintained. The jacuzzi in the room wasn’t clean (I think I have seen comments from others saying the same thing on different websites and Facebook) but otherwise everything else was perfect. We had a swim up suite and it was amazing! Staff is very efficient and great

The room first assigned was freezing and had strong mildew smell. Changed rooms and the second was also freezing. Even with extra clothes and blankets the room was intolerable.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The property is stunning, but what really stood out was the staff- every single person we interacted with was warm, helpful, and genuinely happy to accommodate anything we needed. They went above and beyond with a smile every time. The food was incredible — honestly, next level. From caviar to tomahawk steak, everything was beautifully done and felt very high-end. That said, there are a couple of things I wish I’d known before going: This is 100% a couples hotel. If you’re single or going with friends, it’s not the right vibe. Everything about the place screams honeymoon or anniversary. The bathroom setup has zero privacy. The shower has a window that looks directly into the room, the shower door is clear, and there’s no actual door separating the toilet or bathroom area from the rest of the room. It’s fine for couples, but if you’re not super comfortable with the people you’re staying with, this could be awkward. Overall, it was a beautiful stay and I’d recommend it to couples who want a romantic, luxury experience. Just not the best fit if you’re going solo or with friends.

Excellence is a solid 4*. The all inclusive, adults only atmosphere is nice, grounds are beautifully decorated, food was very good, for the most part drink and food service was fast. We arrived at the property in the morning and were able to enjoy the property including breakfast and lunch before our check-in time. Here is where it is lacking - you can tell the rooms are getting worn, we had a dinner reservation that we were 10 minutes late to and it was not honored, but was remedied best possible, we were out of our room from 10am-4pm with the "please clean our room" tag on the door, it was not cleaned or restocked, we had to call for housekeeping. No complimentary spa services like when we have stayed at LeBlanc before. Overall, in my opinion the value for the money is not there for this resort and I doubt we will be back. We will try a different one next time or go back to LeBlanc where you get a higher quality of service and more complimentary amenities.

The staff at this resort were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We loved the variety of restaurants, bars, and entertainment options. The rooms were also very spacious and clean.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights and had a good experience overall. We booked an Excellence Club Ocean View room. The staffs were very nice and friendly. We ran into a few problems while we were here, we were told that our mini fridge/mini bar will be refill every day. We got no refill on the first day and ended up calling the front desk late afternoon the second to ask for it. The worst problem we had happened on our second to last night here. Our AC had broken overnight; we woke up sweating and the floor was wet due to condensation. My boyfriend called the front desk early morning before we left for our tour at 6am. They said they'll send someone out to look. We got back at 2pm, and the room was still hot. Called again and were told to give it an hour to cool since they fixed it this morning. An hour passed and still HOT. They said they'll stop by again; we told them we're leaving for lunch and be back in an hour or 2. Came back from lunch 2 hours later, STILL HOT. It is now 5pm in the afternoon, we had to call again and this time we were able to meet a maintenance guy and really made sure he fixed it. On one of our nights there, we decided to visit AGAVE. We came around 9pm and saw someone leaving on a stretcher. Our greeter was not the nicest, but we understood. We patiently waited to be sat. We saw 3 other couples checked in after us and they were all sat before us. We brought this up and were gaslit and told we would be next.

My room was great!! Very hard to leave had my own pool!!!

Second visit in a Terrace Plunge Pool suite. Beautiful beach and well kept grounds. Restaurants nice and clean. We ordered room service everyday and the food was not as good as our first visit, but service was great and usually a 45 minute minimum wait. Mini fridge on first day was lacking snack wise, but after requesting a restock and providing preferences there were no issues. Rooms could use a simple refresh with new curtains, artwork, and outdoor rugs. Staff was friendly and overall great service.

Amazing stay! Excellent rooms with comfortable beds. The food was great and there were many options. We stayed Friday-Tuesday and found that the best shows and service were over the weekend Fri-Sun. There was a noticeable drop in quality on Monday-Tuesday, maybe because there was less guests (ex. drinks made lower quality ingredients, food service taking much longer, wait times for dinner etc.). If we returned we would only stay Thurs-Sun. Also the rooms did not have a very private toilet, the door is more like a glass stall.

We love staying at excellence because they always make you feel special. Their commitment to going above and beyond to create a special experience for every guest is incredible! Every staff member is happy to greet you with a smile. We especially felt taken care of by server, Tonatiuh! He was very kind and attentive. You could see how incredibly hard this man works and how he truly loves his job! He was our server for several meals (breakfast and lunch!) sometimes in the same day. Another server by the pool that was especially helpful was Emanuel! He went above and beyond to help us have a great experience! We also participated in some activities at the resort: clay/mud therapy, salsa lessons, and paint & sip. They were all worth the time and enjoyable! We especially enjoyed exploring our creative side during the paint & sip, led by artist Mayte! Finally, we also did an photoshoot with photographer, Orlando. This experience was beyond what we could have expected. He provided the right amount of direction during the shoot, while also listening to what we wanted. The photos came out AMAZING, we just had to purchase the max package (album, 150 photos, and a short video montage w/music). And he was able to get all of this to us, edited, by next day. Overall, we are very pleased with our experience and would love to return in the future!

Very nice property, the staff super attentive. The rooms well maintained and clean . We were served in the pool area by a lady named Lucy and at beach by Emmanuel both very courteous and amazing . We are very active travelers, we've have been to Cancun Riviera Maya and Playa Mujeres multiple times and ECELLENCE Adult Only properties are very high in our palces to go back to.. Highly recommended

Good Morning The hotel was lovely but they had given me the wrong room the first night and didn’t put me into the correct room till the next day at almost 5pm ! My boyfriend kept calling the front desk and no one would answer his calls . I had called the day before to make sure that my room was available because I’ve had issues with this in the past and they confirmed that my original room was available and ready for my stay till we get there and they gave us a completely different room than I had booked . The fact that they didn’t answer the phones when you called was ridiculously annoying . The food and the restaurant weren’t that great for the price you pay for this all inclusive . The cleaning staff were amazing but in the first room we got no one ever showed up to clean it which was highly annoying as well .

I left Excellence Playa Mujeres two nights early because I felt unwelcome, uncomfortable, and disappointed by the resort’s failure to deliver a five-star experience. My first room was noisy, located near staff workspaces and walkways, with staff yelling, carts rattling, and people using my patio as a shortcut. The phone barely worked, the shower had no hot water, and the room was dusty and shabby. When I was locked out of my room, it took almost 30 minutes for help to arrive and hours to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, I was stranded and unwell with a migraine. Despite explaining all this, the resort’s response was slow, unapologetic, and dismissive. The second room wasn’t much better, with drains making loud noises, a dirty bathtub upon arrival, and lukewarm water. The food was underwhelming, with overcooked fish at two restaurants. The resort app didn’t work throughout my stay, and the service was inconsistent at best. Having been to other luxury resorts, I was shocked at the poor quality here. I tried to resolve these issues onsite, by phone, and by email, but the resort has effectively ghosted me. If you have any problems during your stay, don’t expect accountability or fair compensation.

The service was inconsistent. I had to call them a few times to reload the little fridge in the room, to bring body wash and coffee cups. They service the room but do not always reload the items which ran out. Once they forgot about us in the restaurant- took our order and didn’t bring out our food for 40 minutes. It looks like minor things but in my opinion for 5 starts hotel is unacceptable. The rest was good. The food is delicious. I would recommend to have a buffet for lunch that they didn’t.

Excellence was a really great all inclusive option. There is really nothing critical to say about it at all. Food and drinks were great, and the service and staff were truly excellent.

They treat you like family! Bars and restaurants had people that were to make you happy! No issues at all and would recommend to everyone!

First time in Cancun and first time at this property. I understand why many folks seem to come back for more. Our stay was magical! The food and drinks were delicious. All of the staff was super nice and accommodating. I would say this should be your choice if you're looking to enjoy a nice and quiet vacation. It's a little far from the "town" so cab prices are high if you plan on doing some exploration outside of the resort. We only left once during our stay to visit Isla Mujeres, and although it was beautiful, it was very busy. Truly made me appreciate the location and resort so much more for its peace and calmness.

Excellent Beach area. White Sand with calm blue water.

The hotel is very new from we heard in the area. Best for people that want to stay in the hotel to spend their vacation. They do have an app with all resorts information, to entertainment, restaurants and bars. Very private area so it safe. If you plan to go out and do activities do know that the transportation (1hr 20min) is long from Xcaret, playa de Carmen, Cobá, Tulum. The closest is Isla Mujeres with a close ferry. Room is very luxurious like a small studio. We had all inclusive jr suite and loved it. Staff very helpful in transportation and were do dine. Staff very respectful. Earliest establishment open 7am and late one at 10:30. Entertainment was done at 11ish. Hotel room were away from these areas so you do get a quiet sleep. Pool is around the rooms so you don’t need to walk far. Definitely recommend this hotel for people that want to stay in.

I just got back from my trip to Excellence Playa Mujeres, this hotel has 10 restaurants and 10 bars, but there’s only 2 or 3 restaurants when it’s time to eat. It’s really difficult for you to find authentic mexican food or meat at this restaurant to be honest, their menu is so limited and almost every menu is plant base, so if you want to eat good do not go here (almost all their food has no taste except from Agave and The Grill restaurants and they’re only open for dinner some days. They never restock the mini bar in my room and spend two days with no water in the room. The hotel is very nice and just needs a couple of updates. Let me just not forget to mention that the wait at the restaurants are just nonsense you could wait up to 45 mins to get you meal at a restaurant. Hotel is visible under staff. Hotel has a lot of summing pools, entertainment was 10/10

The property was great over all - beautiful location and grounds. The food was good, but not as good as I was expecting for a 5 star resort - comparing to other 5 stars we’ve stayed at. Drinks were never consistent from bar to bar, seemed rushed when making them, would make mistakes. Staff were nice, but tipping almost seemed expected, which is not what we’re used to either. Probably wouldn’t stay here again knowing what else is out there.

This property was absolutely incredible. With so many dining options available, we couldn’t even make it through them all—and every meal we did try was outstanding. The resort’s nightly activities kept things lively and entertaining, giving us the chance to meet wonderful people and create unforgettable memories. Between the atmosphere, the hospitality, and the variety of experiences, this resort truly exceeded our expectations.

I am writing to share my experience at the establishment. The cleanliness of the rooms was truly impressive, reflecting a high standard of maintenance. However, I noticed a significant constraint with food options during the late afternoon hours. Having room service as the sole choice between 4 and 6 pm limited the available dining experiences. It would be nice if there were places open on property. This made satisfying hunger a bit challenging during that timeframe. When taking a nighttime walk, I've noticed that the property lights are quite limited. This lack of adequate illumination makes it difficult to see where I am going. I believe better lighting would greatly enhance the safety of all residents. Specifically, the absence of decorative lighting around the pool area is noticeable. I hope that this issue will be addressed to improve the overall ambiance.Overall, I hope this feedback helps to enhance the guest experience in the future.

This was our 2nd stay at an excellence resort. We stayed at Riviera Cancun prior. They look and feel almost the same. The big difference was seating and staffing. Multiple times we had to wait to be seated for food because the place was full or there wasn't enough to staff to open other restaurants. One day only 1 sit down restaurant was open for lunch. Service was hit or miss once you were seated. Going to the beach was difficult, we never did find an open place to lounge under the trees. Overall it was a good experience that I feel is probably more the norm and our prior visit was the exception. I would go again for sure.

Breakfast and lunch options are very limited. Other than that, all good.
