Newly renovated hotel in old building, actually 3 old buildings. Room was in the basement and our view was that of a bunch of construction debris. Brand new safe in the room didn't work. Maintenance guy came any went several times over two hours before admitting he couldn't fix it. We had to carry all our valuables around london with us because of it.

The Oxford Hotel is now the Merit Kensington Hotel which was confusing at first but they do send you a message beforehand to reorient us to the correct check in location. Hotel was clean, modern furniture and bathrooms and had a refrigerator.which was usefull for storing medication like insulin. electric kettle and glasses were a nice touch. Breakfast area had a Cafe-like atmosphere but was expensive. surrounding area was fun to walk around with many shops and food options. everything you need is walkable. also Train station was very accessible, just behind the building. was not loud, you can barely hear the trains other than a faint, distant screeching of brakes but it was never intrusive. If you sleep too much, the laughter of the neighborhood children will wake you more than the trains will. Overall great experience. with easy check in and out, fresh linen everyday, and easy access to a great neighborhood and also the train to the the rest of london.

Booked a single room which was in the basement, quite small but perfect for what I needed. Nice decor inside, big bathroom, decent amount of tech. Only slight negative was the noise from street level. Would stay again

The hotel has a very good location (less than five minutes from Earl's Court Underground, Boots, Nando's, restaurants, Starbucks etc). The rooms are definitely clean. The service is almost non-existent (no one to greet you at the door, no one to help you with your bags, or even offer), so expect to do everything yourself. I was given a room in a basement down super tiny, thin stairs with no offer to help with luggage (which given how thin the stairs were, was quite tricky to get up and down). It just felt really random and low-rent to be given a room completely separate from the main hotel building. As for the room itself, it was minuscule. You could barely sit comfortably at the desk or have your bags properly laid out. It actually felt like a first class cabin in an airplane, not a hotel room that you pay hundreds of dollars a night for. The location and cleanness were both great, but it was so claustrophobic in the room that you had no desire to spend any time in it at all. Again, for what you're paying you would expect much more.

Basement Breakfast 7/10: Needs improvement in the kitchen; hard boiled eggs were raw, hash browns all stuck together, mystery sausage was horrible. Great pastry & fruit selections. Rooms were clean, modern & comfortable with great AC! Loved placing our luggage there for 4+ hrs while we walked to Kensington Palace for Afternoon Tea @ the Orangery! Pinkies Up! :)

The staff are the shining stars - they were efficient, helpful & just plan nice. I was in the older part of the hotel, but it had been updated. There was no elevator in that section , so if stairs are a problem best let them know in advance. The hotel is a nice walk to town centre..but it is a good 15minute walk. All in all a pleasant hotel

Excellent location near tube and many bus routes.The Oxford hotel is run as Merit Kensington and is housed across 3 buildings in the same street.We were pleasantly surprised by the interior decor of our room on 3rd floor of building 12.Tiny bathroom but very clean and great shower. Bed was a sofa bed but comfortable and slept well.Air conditioning was effective and much needed....Room.very small but had everything we needed. I had read some negative reviews about staff and the £100 deposit...Staff were very helpful.Luggage storage available.I queried the automatic deposit refund on checkout..our room was checked while we waited, confirmed in order, transaction voided..... Glad I had been aware of this in advance.

So convenient to train, restaurants, shops. Residential area with easy and safe walking. Room was small, but cozy, very clean and the bed was soooo comfortable. Staff were friendly and got me into my room early ( I had a very early arrival)

No ventilation in the room: the bathroom has no ventilation points and the room smells damp with midges flying around - it has air conditioning but irrelevant as ventilation is needed. Mould is starting to grow on the ceiling becuase of it. There is a continuous buzzing: a buzzing no that sounds like a door dell buzzer reverberating down and in to the room. Noise from above: the place I stayed is a separate annex to the main hotel but you can still hear people banging around from above, doors slamming, talking etc. Fire alarm: the bathroom was ajar and the heat from the steam set the fire alarm off (no prior warning and an inconvenience! Same with the kettle, it set the fire alarm off as it boiled for a long period, I had to manually switch it off. Signage: when booking through hotels.com the hotel comes up as Oxford hotel (shared with Merit hotels), the place is only named on the outside as Merit hotel.., very confusing as maps take you there but with signage for a different hotel it was confusing. A nice refurbished place but with the smell and noise discomfort, it was unpleasant :(

Nice hotel , room was a good size , beds were comfortable, we did notice that they hadn't cleaned the bathroom that well but when we told them they quickly sorted it out. They were very helpful . Its our second stay at the Oxford Hotel & would recommend & would stay again. It is very close to Earls court station a five minute walk to the hotel .

Excellent stay….. Kensington Merit Hotel. Room was spotlessly clean, perfect heating, storage, coffee and tea, large tv and amazing bathroom and shower. Everything modern and brand new and all controls (shower/tv/heating) easy to use….which is not always the case with other hotels. 100% recommend. Very good value too.

3 minutes walk from Earls Court tube station, so really handy for getting around. It seems the hotel has just been recently refurbished so is immaculate with quality fixtures and fittings. Highly recommended.

Overall we had a good stay at this hotel however a few slight disappointing discoveries like dirty bedding, peeling paint behind the curtain, a very stiff bathroom tap, mismatched mugs & teaspoons and lastly ill-fitting curtains which let daylight in and disrupted our sleep. Apart from these minor things our room was a decent size, it was decorated modern with plenty storage and amenities and was comfortable for our one nights stay.

The check in staff were mostly good, 1 evening staff was rude and over talked his coworker then slammed his office door when i explained i understood what his coworker was saying and didnt need to have it explained again. The room was ok, but the bathroom had a smell commong from the drai and had to keep the door closed as it smelled up the room. The room also let in the smell of smoke from outside, and is not sound proof as noise from outside was easily heard. The housekeeping staff were great.

If you are a solo traveler and really just need a place to sleep, shower, etc. and do not want the Hostel experience, this hotel might be a great option. They have a twin room that feels very much like a large closet, but it has everything you need - as long as your not a very tall or large person - the twin room is compact to say the least. It's close to the Earl's Court tube station with lots of options for places to eat and drink. Easy walk to Kensington. It's in an older building without a lot of sound proofing, so download your sound app of choice for a good night's sleep and then get out and explore!

We started our trip here and ended it here, and my wife loves this place. She likes very quiet rooms that can be made as dark as possible at night when she is sleeping. I booked a charming guest inn for our stay up north, and it was noisy, bright, and they had a macerator (look it up). My wife was not amused. Highly recommend this place...oh, it also has heated bathroom floors.

Bed was really uncomfortable, it was a sofa bed which had been pulled out. The room was small but fine for us. The only thing that let it down was the bed and not having a decent sleep. Also no USB plugs in the room.

This hotel was perfect for us. Very convenient location next to Earl’s Court Station. Easy access to everything via the underground. Across the street from a small grocery store. Staff was very helpful and room was cleaned daily. Would definitely stay here again

Newly updated. Very small room, but lovely bathroom/shower. I couldn't find the hotel at first, because the online site called it the Oxford, but there was no sign outside that said Oxford. It must have been bought by the Merit-Kensington recently. Thankfully, one of the staff were on the steps and I asked if they knew where the Oxford was.

First of all, this is not the Oxford hotel but the Merit Kensington Hotel. The phone number does not seem to be correct as it just keeps ringing until it cuts off. The property is well maintained, probably recently refurbished as some stuff is still in the garden's areas. The staff is only doing its job not much more to be honest. Lastly, I was reedeeming my free night and it should have cost me just the breakfast money but I was charged £100 on arrival as a deposit that was supposed to be refounded to me yesterday afternoon but so far, nothing. Trying to call tgem but nobody is picking up. Funny as there were always 2 persons behind the desk as I was there.

The check in staff were mostly good, 1 evening staff was rude and over talked his coworker then slammed his office door when i explained i understood what his coworker was saying and didnt need to have it explained again. The room was ok, but the bathroom had a smell commong from the drai and had to keep the door closed as it smelled up the room. The room also let in the smell of smoke from outside, and is not sound proof as noise from outside was easily heard. The housekeeping staff were great.

Great accommodations. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even allowed us to keep our bags at the office due to arriving early and wanting to explore London without out bags. I highly recommend and would come back!

Location, location, location! Right around the corner from the Earl's Court Station, and in a great little neighborhood with lots of restaurant choices. The hotel is safe, comfortable, and clean. Plus my wife was so happy that it was very quiet at night. Also, we were surprised at how updated and well appointed the room was. The one con that we had was that we couldn't check in a little early. After a 16 hour trip and considering we had a five night reservation, it would have been nice.

3 minutes walk from Earls Court tube station, so really handy for getting around. It seems the hotel has just been recently refurbished so is immaculate with quality fixtures and fittings. Highly recommended.

We were on a 5 day holiday in London and chose this hotel because the one we usually stay at is under renovation. We didn't regret it! Our room could have been a bit bigger, but it was nice and clean with a nice size bathroom and everything else you need. A suggestion could perhaps be to get some hooks up behind the door, and also out in the bathroom, as there is only a single towel rail, but these are small things! Our biggest challenge was getting two smaller duvets instead of a big one to share. It was a bit tricky, as the cleaners changed it every day, and when they finally succeeded, one of us had to sleep with a duvet without a cover. It went well enough, but next time it will hopefully go a little better ;) All in all we were super happy with our stay! We were especially excited about the breakfast! It was so delicious, and a large selection of both hot and cold. Thank you very much for really good service when we needed help. We are already looking forward to the next time! The Oxford Hotel is now the Merit Kensington Hotel which was confusing at first but they do send you a message beforehand to reorient us to the correct check in location. Hotel was clean, modern furniture and bathrooms and had a refrigerator.which was usefull for storing medication like insulin. electric kettle and glasses were a nice touch. Breakfast area had a Cafe-like atmosphere but was expensive. surrounding area was fun to walk around with many shops and food options. everything you need is walkable. also Train station was very accessible, just behind the building. was not loud, you can barely hear the trains other than a faint, distant screeching of brakes but it was never intrusive. If you sleep too much, the laughter of the neighborhood children will wake you more than the trains will. Overall great experience. with easy check in and out, fresh linen everyday, and easy access to a great neighborhood and also the train to the the rest of london.

Basement Breakfast 7/10: Needs improvement in the kitchen; hard boiled eggs were raw, hash browns all stuck together, mystery sausage was horrible. Great pastry & fruit selections. Rooms were clean, modern & comfortable with great AC! Loved placing our luggage there for 4+ hrs while we walked to Kensington Palace for Afternoon Tea @ the Orangery! Pinkies Up! :)

My family were very pleased to find that the hotel accommodation was comfortable, clean and conveniently located. The staff were very polite and ensured that our toddler was also made comfortable in the room throughout the duration of our stay. Hotel called Merit rather than Oxford. Luckily I read the check instructions otherwise might have been wandering up and down street. Room looked to be recently refurbished, small but functional. It was a shame that the bed was a sofa bed so really creaky when sat on it - luckily it was fine through the night. AC worked a treat. Excellent location for Earls Court Underground.

We arrived in London too early to check in and left our bags. We didn’t return until midnight after our concert when we checked in. Our room was in a property two doors down and in the basement. Despite initial thoughts the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There was air conditioning which was quiet and a perfect temperature thank goodness because it was 30 degrees outside. There was a newly refurbished bathroom, tea and coffee facilities and a fridge. For the centre of London this hotel is perfect. It’s a 2 minute walk from Earl’s Court tube station, close to lots of bars and good restaurants and the staff are helpful and friendly.
