Destiny Scotland - Royal Mile Residence

Great location and there was an elevator. Luggage storage was available but not lockable. Unit included a washer/dryer but no instructions for an American. That would have been very helpful. Kitchen had coffee supplies and was a full kitchen. Bathrooms were spacious and the unit was very clean. We had a wonderful visit and the location was perfect.

Amazing all modern, beautifully decorated apt with everything you’d need. Elevator is in the building as well.

Neat and spacious apartments right on the Royal Mile, walkable from several restaurants, shops, and attractions. Having a kitchen with all the necessary appliances and cutlery, and a washer/dryer was a huge benefit! Communication was clear and detailed, and everything was set up in advance to help us have a smooth experience. Luggage storage is available on the first floor. The property is well-secured with several layers of doors with access codes. One minor nitpick is all rooms within the unit had auto-closing doors, including the living room - this was a little inconvenient when moving around the unit.

Apartment better than photos. Large sectional couch. Well stocked kitchen. Minimal noise from street pubs on street ended by 10pm. Loading zone right in front of apartment and we street parked right there as well the two days we were there. Street parking free from 6:30pm - 8am. Highly recommend without a doubt. Location right in the middle of the Royal Mile.

This property was wonderful. Directly on the Royal Mile. Large living area, well maintained, comfortable beds and amenities. Was a little difficult to locate. The gate to the property is in Bishops Close. The closest parking garage was about a 10 minute walk, so drop off luggage first! We used St. James Quarter garage. This was close to all sightseeing. Would definitely recommend!

The apartment had a place for luggage storage if you got there before check in time. The unit had a full size kitchen and washer dryer. This helped our trip so that we could pack less. It was convenient to walk to restaurants, stores, and attractions. Bring good walking shoes

Location was amazing, every attraction is within a short few minutes walk. There were pubs, restaurants right below which we did not find noisy. Apartment had a lift, we stayed in apt 13 on the 5th floor with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a balcony with a nice view overlooking the Calton Hill. Checking in was easy with a pin code for the entry gate, lift and apt, felt very safe with CCTV around the common areas. Whole house was fully equipped with heaters, even for the bathroom floors. The 1 thing which was slightly weird was the living room which has a door, door stoppers should be available as the doors do not hold open, but it wasn't really bothering us. Will highly recommend this place if u are visiting edinburgh!

More than enough space for our family to stretch out and relax after long days of touring the city! Linens provided were ample and clean, bath products were available in the bathrooms and the kitchen was well equipped. We would absolutely book again!

Check in: Puzzling and incorrect code provided. The location was difficult to find. We were expecting a hotel-like building front. The entrance is a single security gate with code. Then down an alley (aka close) to an elevator. We tried the access code given in the email and text. It didn't work. We arrived after the 5p office closing due to traveling. They only have landlines so WhatsApp did not work. Called the emergency after hour # from the Radisson hotel across the street. The person told me the access code was off by 1 digit from what they sent us. Finally got in after an hour of headache. The place: Excellent location right on the Royal Mile. Very nice, clean, spacious and had all the basic amenities needed. It was surprisingly quiet with windows closed. There is no A/C but do have fans. Felt very secure considering location. Access code needed for entry gate, elevator and apartment. Do note, the access code does expire at check-out time. Be sure to be out or you will need to walk down stairs with belongings. Note: no parkiing provided but Radisson across the street does have 24 hour parking for £30. One does not need to stay there.

The only reason I gave 4 starts instead of 5 was there was strange smell in the hallway. Otherwise a nice place and right in the heart of Edinburgh. P.S. I think I lost my white Calia hoodie there. If you found it would you be able to return it?

It is convenient being on the Royal Mile (High Street). When we first arrived, the apartment smelled. I called, fortunately before 5 PM when they close and they sent over a maintenance person. The smell was associated with a shower drain. After airing out the place and running the shower for a few minutes, it was fine. Maybe, the staff could just inspect the apartment periodically or just before guests come? Everything was pretty new and in good condition. The kitchen appliances may be standard for Europeans, but not for us from the States. Maybe some basic instructions for the dishwasher, oven, and cooktop?

Great location. A funny apartment where every room has a heavy fire door that you can’t leave open. Bedroom, living room, kitchen. But brilliantly located on the Royal Mile and yet quite a quiet and very comfortable, spotlessly clean apartment.

We attended specifically for the Edinburgh Fringe and the properties location on the Royal Mile was superb for the purpose. The property is lovely and the communications could not have been better. It is harsh to be negative about the property however, on the basis of being even handed, i would say that particularly light sleepers might have struggled as, despite excellent sound proofing, some noise from the street below was inevitable particularly during the fringe. The bed was comfortable however not the best i have ever slept in. Being picky now!

The location is excellent. My only issue is there was no air conditioning. The flat was very warm and uncomfortable. No one in my family slept well as it was very hot, even at night.

The apartment itself was fine and we liked the gated aspect. Check in was flawless and efficient. However, the noise level is pretty bad plus there is no air conditioning. When we were there , AC wasn’t needed, but if it’s hot I would not want to stay there. 5th floor, no air -not a good combo

Spotless apartment with view. Great for 2 couples since 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. Didn’t like how all the doors close automatically. Would like to leave open for better airflow through apartment.

I would not recommend for 3 reasons: 1. SAFETY. There is a loud bar located on the 1st floor. There was a large fight that came onto the sidewalk with physical fighting & yelling leading to a gentleman being beaten & profuse bleeding . It was quite scary. 2. VERY LOUD. The rooms facing the royal mile are loud due to the pubs open late. The other rooms are in front of loud air vents and go on and off all day and night (see photos). The pigeons were VERY loud starting at 5am. 3. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. It is the worst I’ve experienced in my life. They sent me my room 3 days in advance indicating I was in room 11 along with our entry code. When I arrived I was not able to get in & the pin did not work. Their office closes at 5pm so if you arrive after 5pm you are out of luck for assistance. I tried calling their emergency line around 630pm since their office closes at 5pm. No one answered the emergency line! I had my family of five panicking because we could not get into our room & had no where to go. After calling a number times over a period of time I was finally told my room changed to room 8. They attempted to lie by saying that I have been booked in room 8 since January. Once I produced my email showing confirmation for room 11 three days before my check in they changed the story to say it was due to maintenance issue. Their reservation manager was rude & unprofessional. I was very surprised at this behaviour. This place ruined my family’s holiday.

Great self contained unit. Large common areas modern amenities. Everything worked. Great staff and communication. A very pleasant stay great location. Good value.

This was a great convenient spot. Comfortable and easy to communicate with while we were there. I would suggest grab bars in tub/shower for safety as it is a deep step in and out of shower.

We never got to check in because after a day of delays by the time we got to Edinburgh it was 9:00 p.m. The directions got us nowhere. A waiter from a local restaurant helped us find the building. We buzzed the ringer and kept telling the person who answered our name and he asked for our phone number to call us back. We ended going to another hotel because we were exhausted, frustrated and angry!!

This hotel is the perfect location for tourists who wish to explore Edinburgh’s old town & Royal Mile. There are many nice restaurants in the vicinity of this hotel. However, many of the popular restaurants need prior reservation and do not allow kids after 8pm. Nevertheless, Edinburgh is really nice & friendly place. We all love this place.

Very nice property in the heart of the royal mile. We really enjoyed our short stay there! Only challenge was parking - we chose the train station as it was just a short walk, but a little pricey.

Excellently positioned property, clean, spacious and comfortable! Central to all the attractions, we were very happy with our stay here.

It is right in the middle of all the action so if you want quiet, it may be a bit loud for some. We loved it.
