Hilton Garden Inn Benton Harbor/St. Joseph

We checked in, and went to our room. The exterior of the building was being painted, and our window was completely covered. We could not see outside; it felt like we were in a cave. We immediately returned to the front desk, and were given a different room. The window in that room was also covered. We returned to the desk AGAIN and had to explain that we needed a room in the back on the building, since those windows weren't covered. Also, the pool was not available; it was being repaired. They did not notify us of this; we found out when we checked in.

I didn’t like that the bar was not open but I did like how friendly and accommodating the staff was

The hot tub and pool were out of service. Should have received a discount because services were not available. Paid a lot of money for the room. No hairdryer in the room had to go ask for one.

The room we booked wasn’t available and when we tried going to the pool, we found out it was drained.

Very comfortable and clean. No safe and pool was under construction.

Well I have been to that facility many times before apparently new owners have purchased the building the service to get your food was bad because the cook was making the food and taking the orders it was so unorganized

Great place to stay although we were there for one night. The only bummer is that the pool is under renovation and that was no where to be found on Expedia. Understand things sometimes take time to update.

Very nice hotel, well appointed first floor dining area and lounge, pretty decent equipment in the health club, indoor pool was small, but I did not use it given that it was sunny and in the mod 80's both days I stayed there. Staff was friendly and helpful with the few small issues that I did have.

Heated pool was great. Spa closed all four days. Bar closed while stay. Breakfast closed one of the three mornings we stayed. Other days there was limited menu offered. Then they were out of the of following items: eggs, ham, avacado, pancakes, biscuits, gravy, French toast. I payed extra for the breakfast through Hotels.com, then was charged again by the hotel. Only one friendly staff member during the entire stay.

The staff was friendly but their are no restaurants in walking distance and for 300$ per night breakfast is NOT included. So I had to pay 10$ for Continental breakfast. So I paid $10 for an orange juice and a bagel... The sheets head stains on them the towels head stains on them the curtains were broke and when asked the housekeeper for new towels she rudely said she doesn't have any and never seen her again. The bar was nice but they have the bartender. Working the bar and kitchen. So if you have a bar full a people and someone orders food no one is tending to the bar because the bartender is doing double duties. She was very nice women and did her best(she needs a raise)

Exceptionally clean throughout the facility. Especially the bedrooms!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay. Check in was easy and the room was clean and nice!

In general, my stay was good with a few minor issues: Refrig in originally assigned room did not work, so staff graciously moved us to a different room. In the second room, the tub drain was very slow, causing the water to build up in tub during showering, increasing risk of fall hazard (soft water and suds make for a slippery tub). A/C rattled a bit making falling asleep a bit difficult.

1. The room toilet had pooped in it. 2. The room sink had hairs in them. 3. The room shower had hairs on the wall and in the tub. 4. The warm water was not working the next day. This did not get fixed until evening. 5. They moved us into another room after a request. The room was smelling like suage. I paid over $700 dollars for this type of service? I hope the Senior Management reviews this and compensate for the inconvenience.

My husband, my daughter, her husband and their 2 children spent last Saturday night there. The lobby had used glasses and cups sitting on the tables. There was no special water. The fan in our bathroom did not work, and the curtains in their room did not pull. We have stayed here a number of times, but will stay elsewhere next time.

Poor water drainage. Toilet barely flushed.Bathroom shower drain did not drain. Tub filled with water during shower with filthy hair and matter from past visitors. Long hairs all over room and bathroom. Bed looked like someone had laid on it prior to our arrival, comforter disheveled. Rooms and halls were musty and humid. Very noisy booming music/party that was in the conference room till2am. Party took over the bar and only one bartender for the party and regular guests.

Was not able to check in until after 4 pm and even then the room wasn't even completely ready. The door was open and there were no towels. Looked clean except maybe not vacuumed as we found a couple goldfish crackers. the rest of the hotel looked clean and the stay was fine.

my boyfriend and I booked Your last minute when we were unhappy with A stay at a different hotel. This one was cleanly, had everything we needed, and we felt at home.

The front desk women were very helpful and kind. The breakfast staff was super friendly and helpful. Place was very clean. The staff accommodated our large family gathering and were wonderful.

The pull out bed had dirty sheets on it. Could use some updates.

Be aware that hotels.com (& Expedia) advertise a room w/ a king bed w/ sofa bed, but these do not exist at this particular hotel! They do not have any sofa beds in any of their rooms anymore. They were able to switch us to a different room, but she said sometimes they aren’t able to do that if the room is booked through other sites. Our room was over the main entrance, so our view was blocked by the first floor entry roof area. We didn’t have any hot water for showers the first night, but it was fixed by the second night. Overall, this is a very nice hotel and the staff was friendly. I would stay here again.

Check in was great, quick, super friendly. The desk agent gave us some local events info. The fruit water in the lobby was a nice touch. Now the room… 421, it was clean and ok but here are the issues… no luggage racks. Apparently they don’t have them anymore. Where are we supposed to put luggage? I don’t get it. The shower doors are on backwards. The pull handle is on outside so it’s really hard to get out after everything is wet. There’s a really small shelf that doesn’t hold any toiletries. The shower head was the worst one I’ve had to use in my whole life. Really hard to wash long hair. The towel rack is on the inside of the shower which is so weird to me. So your towels either get wet or you have to put them on the sink, which defeats the purpose of a towel rack. I don’t get it. The sink vanity is falling off the wall. The hotel shampoo bottle in the shower was empty. The pillows are horrendous, flat and hard. We were told the hotel does not have extra pillows. There are no hooks for towels. Where do we hang wet towels? There is no sound dampening from hallway. Every door slamming is super loud. The TV USB inputs were mixed up, we had to unplug and re plug all the connections to make the TV work. Each day we were there, we heard people arguing with front desk about missing reservations. We also had the pleasure of some kids banging on our door in the middle of the night and finally the breakfast was barely edible. The “made to order” breakfast was just gross

The hotel was clean and nice looking. However, the listing was wrong. We booked a room with a king bed and a double sofa bed. When we arrived the receptionist informed us that there was in fact only a king bed and NO sofa bed. She said they've been trying to get Hotels to update the listing for months. So my two kids ended up having to sleep on the floor. Thankfully the hotel gave us extra sheets and comforters.

Rooms were okay. Beds and pillows comfortable. Our room said it would sleep six. The pictures show 2 queen beds and a couch and ottoman. Couch did not pull out into a bed. The couch would not sleep 2 medium sized people. The breakfast that’s “included” but an extra $18 is a pass. Bring your own oatmeal packet or frozen waffles.

We booked the room for accommodations of 5 people the booking site stated that room slept 6, when we got to our room it had 2 queen beds and a very small couch. So the room that was pretty expensive $400 a night barely accommodated 4 people let alone 5. If this was known prior to booking we could’ve just booked two rooms. So one of us had to try and sleep on a tiny sectional couch. False advertisement

Great staff

The stay was great. We had an issue with the a/c not working in our room. The front desk attendant that afternoon was very helpful and friendly. She came up to our room till see if she could fix it, but was not able to. She got us into another room. She always asked to see if our room was okay where we left the hotel for dinner. She was always friendly and had a smile on her face! Would definitely stay here again!

I came to Michigan for a last minute emergency. Charisma was the clerk I spoke to the day before my stay over the phone to answer questions I had, she was also the one that checked us in and out. She was so helpful and kind, she answered all my questions and was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We traveled from California to attend a funeral. We arrived at 11 pm after multiple flights, picking rental car and we we lectured by a snarky clerk that we were “lucky” to get a room, even tho we had reserved and paid for it. She felt that visitors should get to the hotel sooner, as if we had been twiddling our thumbs all day. Then she said I already have your room away because you hadn’t shown up, but I will just give you the next guys room. We reserve and pay for a room so we know it will be there after 13 hours of travel through airports, etc. the following morning, no hot water. Then we left the room and couldn’t get back in because “all the room keys” had to be reprogrammed. Then we couldn’t have coffee because they “don’t have enough”. Next morning, again, no hot water. We attend our funeral return to change clothes and our room keys don’t work. We go through the lobby, approach the front desk and the same agent that scolded us on Friday is helping another customer, we stayed back quietly and she yelled at us that she was busy, we hadn’t said a word. She has no sense of hospitality. I would not recommend this property

Very welcoming and polite staff even in the midst of being bombarded by many different events! Very impressed with the ability to keep on a smile even when the requests are seemingly endless from others- 5 star service

Reserved king bed got a double room, asked why and she said that’s all we have. I replied with I reserved a king room. same staff member told me fix own tv and it still doesn’t work . Very disappointed for money spent. 1 staff member ruins for whole facility.

We went for a weekend to be around St. Joe’s we stayed outside of downtown St. Joe’s at this location. Inside was very nice, not too many options outside of hotel for food other than fast food but very easy drive to beach and to stay around in area. All staff was very friendly!

I would stay here again. It was undergoing from exterior renovation but nothing impacting our stay. The location is more readily accessed via exit 29 from the north than from exit 28; seemed oddly located from the later which our GPS sent us. To the north exit there are also some good food options.

Good clean easy off/on the highway

The property itself was good. The king room was small but pretty clean. We didn’t spend a whole lot of time there so it met our needs for a shower, sleep, and a continental breakfast. The surrounding area was impoverished. It was very run down. However we were there to visit the beaches and state parks not to spend time in that area. Overall it was a good stay. I personally try not to stay at hotels but this one did not creep me out.

This a nice hotel located close to I-94 but in a quiet area. The room was well appointed and spacious. We had our dog with us and there was a large grassy area to walk him in.

Very clean. Easy access to highway & only about 10-15 min from the beach. Several really nice hotels in this area but not a lot of restaurant options. There was a bar & grill at the hotel but we went to St Joe for dinner. Lots of options there. Several restaurants around the hotel area had closed. Meijer & Wal-Mart just down the street. Hotel is pet friendly. Wonderful shower. Softess water ever! My skin felt like I'd already put lotion on & my hair was soft & shiney. Hot breakfast available for extra cost.

Great buffet breakfast!

I thought I had free breakfast. But that wasn't true, even if you just wanted pancakes.

First room we were given was not vacuumed, had food and stuff on the floor. We went to check in desk again, received keys to a new room. This was was clean. We brought our dog. They had a good green area for him to use plus poop bag station. Breakfast was decent. Plenty of choices for everyone but only one choice on fruit, melon. Really like they had soy milk though. Overall, not a bad experience. Would recommend. Just check your room first before you get your stuff and family.

Breakfast a little confusing. When I booked the room it gave me the option to choose breakfast but wasn’t really clear on what that entitled. We opted for the breakfast and then ended up paying anyways. Yes we did order off the “grill” menu. But it was a great stay and would stay again.
