This hotel was really something else. I have stayed in many, and this is one of the top of my list. We stayed here for my partners boyfriend and they made the stay very special. The room was decorated with petals and balloons and even got a wine bottle. The staff were so lovely and welcoming too. The only downside was the freezing temperature of the pool, and the hot tub was more on the colder side too. I could, therefore, only use the sauna. Also, there were not enough seating area in the spa. I was a bit upset by this as I was looking for a 'spa weekend'. Despite this, I would come again. Hotel is well situated and the room amenities were great!

The building was fantastic. The facilities excellent, staff very good. Bedrooms and all sorts of great extras, liked dental kit, sewing kit, shaving kit etc. Coffee machine in the rooms. Would have been great to have a jug of fresh milk in the fridge, that was the only thing that could have been improved upon. Pool/spa was busy but very nice. Rooms had bath robes and sliders to take to the spa. Heat controls were responsive in rooms. We had a very comfortable night. Will definitely be back

I absolutely love this hotel, I stay here every time I’m in London. The place is immaculate and pretty, the pool and hot tub is stunning (as well as the sauna and steam room), the staff is very friendly and accommodating and I love the inside of rooms and facilities. They have a lovely gym and beautiful lobby and lounge area and it’s located in a great part of London close to a ton of shops. They give you waters, coffee, tea .. it’s just a 5 star experience every time. I can’t wait to come again, they were very accommodating to my needs and made sure I was happy with my stay.

Fantastic hotel in an excellent location. The staff were very professional and courteous, and the hotel was very clean. My room was spacious and included all the amenities required for a relaxing and stress-free stay. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to visit London and stay somewhere outside of the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas, but within close proximity to Shoreditch and the city.

Staff were welcoming and attentive. Hotel was well laid out with a decent sized pool. Pool was not heated. Sauna was not at all hot but steam room and jacuzzi were really good. Breakfast in the adjoining restaurant was average but costly - we chose from the a la carte menu rather than the buffet. Carpets need a wash but overall the room was clean. The dark themed room meant it was very dimly lit and the dust in the air was visible. Far too many light switches. The location was really good for access to underground - Old Street being a 3 minute walk away. Plenty of amenities nearby. Free on street parking over the weekend which worked well for us however the nearest NCP parking is a 12 minute walk away which is not ideal. We were there for a wedding anniversary and the hotel staff left a hamper in our room as a gift which was nice. Overall, a really good stay and we would visit again.

Great rooms and friendly staff, found a couple of small hairs in the shower which was not really worth complaining about just washed them down with the shower head, found a small tear in the duvet cover again by time we noticed it was too late in the day to complain as only there for 1 night, but definitely stay there again despite the couple of minor issues which hopefully a one off being as we been there couple of times before and things have been great.

We were given a really bad room when we checked in -- shower didn't get warm, parts of the room were broken, heat/cooling didn't work, it was right across from the elevator so it was noisy, etc etc. We stayed there the first night but asked to be moved.

Overall, we were happy during our first stay. The pool area was lovely and warm. The room itself was a nice size but the bathroom was extremely small and uncomfortable to maneuver in. There is nowhere to hang/dry your towels and the hand towel rack gets trapped behind the bathroom door when it’s open. The room tech seemed nice to begin with (the auto open and close curtains were very cool) but a few of our buttons did not work - the thermostat wouldn’t change and we got so warm in the night, it was difficult to sleep. We did not rest well at all, sadly. Apart from that, everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating.

Was a nice place but few issues with room (which didn’t bother me too much at the time but on reflection not what I’d expect when reserving a suite in a 4.5-star hotel. Tv didn’t work (not the biggest issue as had my tablet), incredibly limited room service menu. And the view was blocked with boards covering my windows. Otherwise, comfy bed and great pimples and the free Nespresso and refillable water was a nice touch

I planned a surprise birthday weekend for my girlfriends 22nd birthday, and I was completely blown away! I had asked if we could get the room decorated as it was a special occasion. A very special thank you to Anista for going above and beyond my expectations. As soon as we walked through the door both of our jaws dropped. WOW!!! My girlfriend even said that was the first time she cried of happiness! I genuinely couldn’t fault anything, the staff was impeccable! We even got complimentary wine on the house! Stayed for one night. It was mid. I’ve stayed in hotels with less star ratings that exceeded my expectations (i.e. The Gate London City). The water pressure was low, the extendable mirror in the bathroom was broken, the TV isn’t a Smart TV, the paint on the small table by the armchair was peeling, and the light by the door kept flickering. The interior was of dark tones which didn’t make the room seem inviting, and overall it was plain and dated. The staff were helpful with providing a USB-C HDMI cable and the bed was comfortable.

When booking, I specifically paid extra for breakfast to be included for both mornings of our two-night stay. I also included a note that this was for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, when we arrived for breakfast on the first morning, the hotel informed us that breakfast was not included in our booking. I was very clear when making my booking and paid an additional amount for this. However, the hotel denied this and only after I returned to my room, retrieved my laptop, and logged into my Hotels.com account could I prove that breakfast was included. Even then, the hotel staff insisted that “sometimes with Expedia/Hotels.com bookings the breakfast information does not come through.” This situation caused significant embarrassment and stress. I am five months pregnant and had to leave the breakfast table without eating or drinking in order to resolve this issue. It completely ruined my partner’s birthday morning and spoiled our overall experience at the hotel. This is unacceptable. I paid for a service that was not honoured at the outset, and the handling of the situation by the hotel caused unnecessary stress and upset. I am requesting the following: 1. A full investigation into how this error occurred. 2. Confirmation that my booking did indeed include breakfast for two nights. 3. A resolution, including reimbursement and appropriate compensation for the distress and disruption caused. I trust Hotels.com will take this matter seriously and investigate.

The staff was brilliant, patient and very helpful regarding every inquiry I had. The breakfast options were good and the facility amazing. I cannot wait to stay here again! I don’t even know where to start. My whole stay at the hotel was amazing. The service was impeccable, and the whole staff was so kind. Whenever we had a question they always went the extra length to make sure we had everything we need. The rooms were beautiful and clean. And let me not even get started with the spa and gym. honestly the best hotel I’ve stayed at and definitely coming back to!! I recommend this hotel to everyone thinking staying here. Honestly the staff need a raise for the great service!

So many good people working at the Montcalm East Hotel. From the moment I arrived thru were helpful, patient and professional. Keep in mind their beautiful bar/restaurant is under construction while they're working during the day. My room was ready when I arrived best surprise). They offer you bottled water, still or sparkling upon check-in. On National Dog Day they had cute and delicious dog shaped cookies for guests. The front desk staff, housekeeping, security and my favorite guys the concierge! The concierge really made me feel safe a a solo female traveler, feeling safe is golden. They not only ordered my taxis but they'd step outside and hail one down or chat with the drivers to assure they took me to the correct destination. Lesson learned: don't order Bolt rides from the hotel. They all parked one street over and then they cancel the ride. Sadly, they are known for doing that. I never felt happier with a hotel stay. I've traveled and stayed at resorts and hotels in Canada, Mexico, Ireland and within the US for years. And, the Montcalm has been the best of them all. They just take really good care of their guests. The chefs & the servers in the buffet, I don't know how they did it. It was so busy and packed some mornings and they just kept busy taking care of everyone's requests. Cheers to the wonderful staff at my new favorite hotel.

Booked in to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. We wanted to use the spa, relax and revisit Hoxton where my husband worked in the 1990’s. Hotel was great although email communication before check in was slow. Staff, particularly the breakfast staff were excellent. We enjoyed the pool although couldn’t book treatments. Room was good and the area great for us.

My 2nd time staying here, even I compare with other hotels they are above excellent in all the way, specially when you stay with toddlers/ child you will be surprised how friendly all the staffs are to the children. Had a little disappointment at the restaurant due to their miscommunications but again manager solved an issue so professionally for us. I highly recommended to family/friends/couples and the area is perfect for dining out.

Fantastic hotel in an excellent location. The staff were very professional and courteous, and the hotel was very clean. My room was spacious and included all the amenities required for a relaxing and stress-free stay. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to visit London and stay somewhere outside of the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas, but within close proximity to Shoreditch and the city.

This was an amazing hotel to stay in London. It's a couple of minutes walk from Old Street station. Breakfast options with Pret-A-Manger, right around, along with Starbucks and McDonalds 24 hours. Breakfast option at the hotel was pretty good as well. The staff was super helpful and in our case, our younger son got locked out of the room, while with his elder brother sleeping in the room and the staff helped out with an extra key in the most timely manner and my son was very happy that they took care of him promptly.

When booking, I specifically paid extra for breakfast to be included for both mornings of our two-night stay. I also included a note that this was for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, when we arrived for breakfast on the first morning, the hotel informed us that breakfast was not included in our booking. I was very clear when making my booking and paid an additional amount for this. However, the hotel denied this and only after I returned to my room, retrieved my laptop, and logged into my Hotels.com account could I prove that breakfast was included. Even then, the hotel staff insisted that “sometimes with Expedia/Hotels.com bookings the breakfast information does not come through.” This situation caused significant embarrassment and stress. I am five months pregnant and had to leave the breakfast table without eating or drinking in order to resolve this issue. It completely ruined my partner’s birthday morning and spoiled our overall experience at the hotel. This is unacceptable. I paid for a service that was not honoured at the outset, and the handling of the situation by the hotel caused unnecessary stress and upset. I am requesting the following: 1. A full investigation into how this error occurred. 2. Confirmation that my booking did indeed include breakfast for two nights. 3. A resolution, including reimbursement and appropriate compensation for the distress and disruption caused. I trust Hotels.com will take this matter seriously and investigate.

Staff were welcoming and attentive. Hotel was well laid out with a decent sized pool. Pool was not heated. Sauna was not at all hot but steam room and jacuzzi were really good. Breakfast in the adjoining restaurant was average but costly - we chose from the a la carte menu rather than the buffet. Carpets need a wash but overall the room was clean. The dark themed room meant it was very dimly lit and the dust in the air was visible. Far too many light switches. The location was really good for access to underground - Old Street being a 3 minute walk away. Plenty of amenities nearby. Free on street parking over the weekend which worked well for us however the nearest NCP parking is a 12 minute walk away which is not ideal. We were there for a wedding anniversary and the hotel staff left a hamper in our room as a gift which was nice. Overall, a really good stay and we would visit again.

A huge thank you to the staff who went above and beyond to make my partner's birthday extra special, with thoughtful touches in our beautifully decorated room. The room itself was superb, equipped with everything we needed, including a heated bathroom floor. The spa was a relaxing oasis, and dinner at the hotel restaurant was an excellent choice. Breakfast was also outstanding, offering a wide selection. Every staff member we encountered was welcoming and attentive. We can’t wait to return!
