This was our first stay of our trip. Our room was ready early, which was very much appreciated. A big bonus for this hotel is the parking. We were able to easily park our rental and then walk around the area. The staff was great and the breakfast was much better than expected.

We just returned from our stay at the Skuggi hotel. It was very convenient to downtown, felt safe and parking was easy. We wished the bar was open for happy hour on one of our days. Breakfast was also very good.

Great location. Lots of restaurants around and near the main street for shopping but far enough from the most touristy parts to be quiet at night. Only a few blocks away from highway 41 which makes it easy to get in and out of the city. Has a parking lot and parking garage which was a must have for us because we had a car rental. Included breakfast was the standard fare but of better than average quality. Room itself was modest in size but very clean. Service was friendly. Would definitely stay again.

Quiet room on 4th floor for 2 nights. Comfortable bed, Parking garage and a few spots alongside hotel, breakfast was varied and plentiful. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.

The hotel sends out an email message before arrival asking about room maintenance i.e. whether you want the room "made up" or not. We indicated that we wanted our beds made every day - that was totally ignored. After complaining at the lobby desk for the two following nights, we finally got the room done on the third night. In other words, the room was not cleaned three of the four days and only receiving new towels once. The room decor was very spartan with little or no normal hotel accommodations such as shelving, comfortable chairs, amenities, decent lighting, safe. Even the television on the wall was positioned poorly as it was parallel to the length of the bed. The reception desk staff was pleasant but none of our requests had any impact e.g. room cleaning, failed to make "wake-up" call, did not fix broken ceiling lamp. The shower stall was open concept with no enclosure such as a shower curtain or door - water sprayed all over. The breakfast was generally good but with little hot food available. The hotel location was central. In general, both the room and the hotel standards were not reflective of the high hotel price.

The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The blackout shades helped with the extended daylight hours. The breakfast was excellent and beyond what we expected. Great location and an underground garage. Staff was professional and friendly.

The place is in need of a refresh. It was clean, but really run down. The laminate floor was warped in places and the bathroom vanity was cracked and warping (it looked like it was purchased second hand from a dorm room). I got the room on reward points so no loss. If I had paid full price I would be really upset. Oddly, their sister hotel Storm Hotel, a few blocks away was much better cared for.

Good location, easy parking. Nice, clean room. No a/c, just a fan, and even in October it was HOT in the room. Can open the door to the balcony, but it’s a shared balcony (with all the rooms on the hall) so can’t leave it open all night.

Check-in was busy, parking garage is great no scraping windscreen, bed and pillows comfortable, although overall room size was a bit small, struggled with room size and suitcases etc, bathroom toilet roll not in best place kept knocking it off, no controllable heat, only a fan available no heat, breakfast was fantastic lots choice fruit, waffles, skyr, chia pudding toast etc. good location for closeness to many attractions

Bare Bones not as good as hotels.com reviewed it to me. One towel one hand towel no washcloth no amenities kind of had an army barracks feel to it. Breakfast was decent staff was friendly with the hotel was nothing to get excited about. I'd give it three stars at most

We reserved 3 rooms,had lots of luggage & arrived in a vehicle after traveling for 17 days. It was very cold with snowy ice & there was no place to pull in at hotel front door to unload. We were told to park in an outdoor parking garage that required us to drag bags up a hill in bad weather conditions. Although they had a parking garage for guests the front desk refused to open the garage door because we had not checked in. Th 3 females in our party stood at the entry to the garage freezing with luggage until a kind fellow guest in the garage opened the door to allow us inside. This was a very unwelcoming start to our stay as the front desk personnel seemed to care less about us. Once we were able to get the vehicle parked in the garage & checked in, we found the room small & way too dark with inadequate lighting & hotel way overpriced for the quality. For these reasons I would not consider staying here again & would not recommend Skuggi compared to the other hotels we stayed at in Iceland.

I cant begin to say enough about how great this place was to stay. The bed was comfy, the place was clean, location is within walking distance of so many things, and to top it off the parking AND breakfast are included!!! Best part about it all was how good these people were to me. My rental car was parked in the parking garage and was hit by another guest of the hotel on my last day staying there. They were quick to notify me about the situation. After I looked at the car, the front bumper was dragging on the ground but otherwise was drivable. I was trying to find some string so that I could try to secure it to the car so I asked the desk if they had anything I could use. They called the hotel's handy man and he said he had something. I took a seat in the lobby and was waiting for the gentlemen to bring me the stuff, when he walks into the room about 10 minutes later and tells me my car is ready? I go down stairs with him and he's done all of the work for me and the car is ready to drive! I've been home for a week now and I am still completely blown away by how good these people were to me and I cant recommend them enough.

Our first night in Iceland. We were exhausted and this was a nice facility to rest. We did explore the town, and the location was great for that. Within walking distance to a lot of attractions, restaurants and entertainment. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

The stay here was perfect. The hotel is close to the main shopping street (if that rocks your boat) as well as within walking distance of the harbour, concert hall, the Hallgrimskirkja and the darker bay area for watching the Northern Lights. The rooms are comfortable and spacious with an excellent shower. One of the real highlights is the breakfast. Superb variety: muesli, granola, crèpes you can make yourself, lovely breads and pastries, porridge, coffee, fruit juices etc. The garage for car parking is free and under the hotel so when it's minus 5 outside your car is protected from the frost. Wouldn't hesitste to recommend.

Loved the location of the property. It was right around the corner for tour pickups which was great for long tour days. It was also close to shopping and food. The staff was very helpful when needed. The free breakfast was one of the best I've had when offered.

I loved this hotel! Everything that you needed and more when you’re in Iceland! Location was perfect, close enough to downtown to walk a couple blocks and be right in the center of the city but just far enough out to be not in a crazy part too. Also very close to bus pick up locations for all excursions! The parking lot being attached and breakfast included was perfect for long days touring around. Staff was extremely helpful and nice whenever anything was needed from questions about Iceland to talking at the bar. Only downside of the hotel was the walls seemed very small - for example you could hear the noise from doors closing in the hallways from other people as well as cars/busses in the street if you have a street room, besides that I would 100% stay here again when I come back!

Property is reasonably close to the waterfront to head down for aurora pictures. Also short walking distance to Main Street and various food options. Rooms/bathroom a little small and the free breakfast not that great compared to hotels we have recently stayed in.

In walking distance to restaurants, sights, shopping and only 3min away from the no. 9 bus stop to do pickups/drop offs when doing excursions or taking the airport flybus with connections to the city center. Alternatively there is underground parking. Breakfast is ok with fruit, bread, hard boiled eggs, waffle batter, cheese, cold cuts, chia pudding, skyr. If you fancy a cappuccino you do have to pay full price as in cafes.

The free regular coffee provided in the morning was terrible. Other places we stayed in Iceland provided espresso and other drinks free of charge, but Skuggi charged extra for these. The room overlooked the street and was noisy. This was a particular problem because there was no way to control the very hot temperature in the room other than using the venting window. A fan was provided, but after depositing luggage, there was limited room for the fan. The counter under the bathroom sink was plywood and showed a lot of water damage. The location and parking were great and with the exception of the coffee, the rest of the breakfast buffet was pretty good. Good wifi. The staff were helpful when we needed computer and printer access.

We had a view of a backside parking lot, but we hadn't planned on sitting in the hotel room anyway, so it didn't bother us. Also, with the windows shut and the drapes closed it was very dark and quiet, which was much appreciated. The only negative was that the beds were too hard for our liking.

Parking is a problem with this establishment. If you get there early and park your vehicle on the handful of spots you will enjoy the hotel. Although the hotel is in a low rent district it is safe and comfortable. The front desk lady was a little snippity as I had trouble understanding what was coming out of her mouth. Other than that it was a pleasant stay. The location offered easy access to buses and downtown. There are excellent eateries surrounding the hotel all in a short walk. Rooms were spacious and clean.
