Bittersweet Stay Bitter … because we were overcharged - the day we booked, the price dropped by a considerable amount that evening!  As it was non-refundable we couldn’t cancel and rebook.  We monitored the price and over the next few weeks it continued to drop - we could have booked it for a few hundred pounds cheaper at one point.  We tried contacting hotels.com to no avail. We then contacted No 1 The Mansions who eventually replied to us but were unable to do anything as we had booked through Hotels.com. We are still waiting to hear from them after a few email attempts.  Lesson learnt - we won’t rush to book in future but will monitor the prices first.  We’ve never seen such a drop in price before but that saving would have gone a long way towards our expenses in London. Sweet because the apartment was absolutely amazing and so suitable for our stay.  It was spacious, clean, comfortable, kitchen well equipped, clean towels as needed, comfortable beds … absolutely fabulous.  Loved the high ceilings and spaciousness.  Great location … so close to the underground and M&S nearby.  Friendly staff on check-in and check-out - thanks Sue. Would have been a certain 5-star review if it wasn’t for the price and the lack of communication.

The bad: Not a real front desk. An office down a hall with a door that was once locked. Staff unavailable at check in time and ignoring all the people waiting in the front hall. Record breaking awful heat wave in the hit London during our stay. No attempt to provide window box fan to draw in night air or to get portable air conditioning units. Floor fans in the rooms helped but not enough. Bedrooms have one electric outlet only. Living room and very modern kitchen have many outlets. Why not put some in the bedrooms? Typical quirky old building that was renovated with no thought of customers. Washer was ridiculously complicated. So many buttons and no instructions. Impossible to use. Stupidest bathroom renovation. The tub is so high off the floor I had to crawl over the edge to get in to take a shower. Instead of a shower curtain there’s a half wall of glass that swings in and out and doesn’t keep the water from spraying out and if not positioned exactly right lets all the water run out onto the floor. And make sure the handheld is turned to the inside corner otherwise it will spray out and soak the room(it did-what a mess). The Shower water temperature changes constantly while you’re using it from scalding hot to frigid. No temp regulator obviously. The bathroom looks pretty. Too bad it’s so hard to use. The good: Very comfortable beds and linens. Wonderful kitchen. Location is perfect and safe. For all my complaints I’d stay there again- in winter. How’s the furnace ?

This place is great. Comfortable, close to shops and the tube, and great for our needs (family of 4).

The apartment was very clean. However, it needs to be updated as there are some stains on the walls and carpets. We like to make meals when we stay in an apartment… this kitchen had some kitchen supplies, but it could be better stocked. For example, one night we made pasta but needed to cook pasta in two separate pots as the apartment only had two very small pots to use. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Charlotte. The building is very close to Earls Court underground which is very convenient.
