Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa Downtown by IHG

Walking trail along the river is right out the door. Rooftop bar overlooking the river is fantastic.

Good value and very comfortable. EV charging was a big plus.

This place is an ok place but I will say it’s not worth the money they charge for these basic rooms and not even free breakfast and my ac in my room buzz loud all night plus guests only book this hotel for the rooftop bar and guess what it booked out I wish I knew before I had booked room

The location is great. Our room was clean, and the bed was super comfortable. The hotel could use some upgrades though. The downsides: the water in the shower was lukewarm at best. The hotel wasn’t crowded at all, so not a lot of hot water being used. The elevators also had issues. One was completely down, and the other one wouldn’t call on certain floors. Having had a knee replacement 4 weeks ago, walking up and down flights of stairs with luggage is not ideal! The $23/person charge for breakfast is a bit much considering nothing on the menu is over $15, they don’t serve alcohol, and while the food was decent, it isn’t great. I’ve been to better breakfast/brunch places and paid less than $23.

We got the room at the end of the hallway on the 1st floor, conveniently by the free EV charging station. We also attended a concert next door at the Mercedes Benz Ampitheater, which was less than a 5-minute walk. Staying at the hotel basically guaranteed us the best parking spot for the concert!

Parking is finicky, I got a ticket for parking near the motel, apparently most of it is 2 hr parking.

This hotel is amazingly convenient to the Mercedes Amphitheater and Riverwalk. There are lots of walkable food and drink options just up the hill. Parking is a bit scarce, even not on game days. You get a permit to use their lot, but it can get hard to find a spot near the hotel. There is a small but fun rooftop (bar? restaurant?). My only issue with the hotel is the walls are paper thin. We heard everything. Not even noise from rowdy revelers. We weren't there on a game day. Just normal families going to their rooms and the woman in the next room having a normal phone conversation at 3 am. Heard every word and it didn't sound like she was raising her voice. Going to bed, it sounded like the upstairs neighbors were holding a craps game on the floor of their room. Who can possibly drop that many things for that duration? So the good beds and ample pillows didn't much matter when we heard every living thing happening in our wing. Sad, because the location is top notch!!!

Lovely hotel, clean quiet rooms. However we were not given a parking pass at check in, and only learned by chance that our car would be towed during a concert.

I was put in an annex that is across the street from the property and requires a code to enter a side door. The walking area is not lit, making it less than ideal for a single female travel. The room was fine, except for a thick layer of dust covering the bedside lamp. Definitely disappointed as I have had great experiences with Indigo hotels in the past.

Loved the concept, design, staff and room. I was disappointed in the cleanlinesa of our actual room. The floors were visbilt dirty with pieces of food and what I think may have been mulch from previous guests. Thwre was also a amwar of feces by the toilet wall and the phone did not work for me to call houaekeeping or the front desk. I hve photos.

Absolutely disgusting hotel! After we were price gouged for the night we stayed there, they put us in an adjacent apartment building where they made the bottom floor into hotel rooms. Phone lines were down so you had to communicate via text to the front desk. Air conditioning was not working in our room and we couldn’t contact anyone because of phone issues and we weren’t even connect to the actual hotel. The room was absolutely disgusting and filthy dirty. With dirty black hand prints all over the walls and ceilings. The bathroom floor and shower was so gross I couldn’t even use it

The room was so disgustingly dirty. Black mold all in the shower. Bathroom floor was so dirty that if you dropped a white towel on it, it would come up looking like mud. Had to wear shoes in the hotel room the whole time because the floors were so dirty. The socks would be black. After bringing it to their attention, the only thing they had to say was we’ll get it cleaned so the next guest doesn’t have to deal with it.

Staff was super nice. However I give this a 3 star based on the cleanliness . We originally had to change rooms due to smoke smell. Upon receiving an upgrade we enter to find that the room had not been cleaned properly. Shower had toothpaste and blood stains along with mildew and mold. Couch had crumbs everywhere . Pull out bed sheets were stained and so were bedding on king size bed .bathroom floors were disgusting . Dust was everywhere . They attempted to clean room again but still missed a lot of major details in bathroom. and Unfortunately I couldn’t receive a refund which aggregated me . The outlook had nice staff and the coffee shop across the street had amazing food and service

Had the one bedroom suit room 005. Pros: AC blew snowballs. Bed was comfy. Black out curtains. Gal at the front desk was nice. There was easy parking. Convenient to the university. Cons: The carpet in the living room was very stained up (looked like there were too many parties in that room) and looking gross. There were a lot of small gnats flying around. The shower floor had mold, missing grout between tiles and was looking pretty rough. Sofa was warn down and stained. There was a shoe foot print on the sheet of the bed when I pulled back the blanket. It was where you would lay your back down onto so had to sleep between the sheets. Considering this is an updated room, looks like it needs to be updated again.

If I can give this hotel a negative rating I would. Ive changed rooms 3 times. For unsanitary reasons. Ordered breakfast,there was hair in my food. Blonde hair on the table. No one ever came to clean my hair hotel room (427) No change of towels etc. Horrible service!!. I usually stay at the Alamite but because I was traveling with a group I decided to stay here. Never again.

There was black stuff on the white tile in the shower I got water on the floor outside the shower and when I whipped it up the towel was very dirty.Over all nice room just not cleaned very well

We came down for a concert at the a Amphitheater and the location was absolutely perfect! The staff was polite and the rooms were impeccably clean and so spacious! Walking distance to plenty of amazing restaurants too!

Great location on the Riverwalk and lots of choices for restaurants in the downtown area. Room was super quiet. We did not hear other guests at all!!

The riverside view you pay extra for? It’s a lie. It’s a view of the parking lot and a distant twinkle of the river. When I asked the girl why advertise it as a riverside view if it’s really not, she shrugged. AC was broken in our first room and we didn’t get moved until 10pm. They said breakfast ends at 11am but when we got there at 10am they said they closed the kitchen and we could only get bagels or toast. The place is riddled with false advertising, the workers were nice and apologetic for the most part, but clearly management is lacking. We’ll never be back.

The hotel was great! The river view room really wasnt much of a view of the river, more the parking lot. Really disappointed to know they didnt reserve the lookout porch for people staying in the hotel only on the night of the fireworks. It was full wayyyy before fireworks started.

Check-in went smooth, but the A/C in the room did not work! They switched me to another room but that should have been avoided. It was just a pain!

We were impressed by Grace at front desk. We arrived in the storm. She was efficient, warm, caring and welcoming.

The hotel moved us to a separate building because they were “full” so the amenities were not convenient. When we returned to our hotel on our second day, everyone’s dirty bedding and towels had been left in the hallway by Housekeeping. On our third day, we returned to our room and our towels had been changed but nothing had been cleaned. The bed wasn’t made, nothing vacuumed, and the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. We called the front desk and someone came over to look at the room. We were told that since we had left a bag on the bed, Housekeeping wasn’t supposed to touch it so they couldn’t make the bed. If that’s the hotel’s policy, they should make that clear to their guests.

We stayed during the very quiet week between Christmas and New Year’s, which may have explained the very lukewarm reception. When we entered, the night reception desk staff member seemed annoyed to be interrupted from whatever he was doing at a table, and didn’t even greet us verbally. Just walked to the computer until I finally said that we were there to check in. Had been driving a long time and were looking forward to a drink. Asked if they had a hotel bar and he said yes, but that they were closing in half an hour. We said that would be plenty of time for a beer. Dropped our luggage in the room and headed straight to the rooftop bar. The door was locked, although we could clearly hear staff inside talking, as if they were just sitting and enjoying drinks. Went downstairs to tell the receptionist that the door to the bar was locked. He just casually glanced up and said, “Yeah, they closed early since no one was there.” Funny that he knew that…we wondered if he’d warned them we were headed up, or if they had called to tell him they were closing and he didn’t bother to tell them they had 2 customers coming up. I don’t understand this mentality…when I worked in food service, you never ever closed until posted closing time. Also, absolutely zero electrical outlets in the bathroom. Had to dry and curl hair in the hall, stretching to see the hall mirror. Other than that, the location is great for walking straight out to the river walk.

Everything was great, except the bartender. Sat down, waited 5 minutes, no hello, no norhing. So i got up and left to walk downtown for food and a drink

I feel compelled to share my experience, as it was deeply disappointing and fell well below the standard I expected. While I found the aesthetics and location of the hotel to be beautiful and convenient, the customer service was severely lacking across the board. Every staff member I encountered—excluding one—was noticeably unwelcoming. My requests were consistently met with eye-rolling, sighs, and visible irritation. This behavior was not isolated; it extended from the front desk to housekeeping, which created an overall atmosphere of hostility and disregard. The most concerning incident occurred when I requested a change of sheets due to an accident involving my three-year-old. I was informed that staff “don’t change sheets” but that I could pick them up and do it myself. This response was baffling, especially given that housekeeping had entered the room the day prior, made the bed, and tidied the space—without my request. As a paying guest, I do not expect luxury treatment, but I do expect basic hospitality and professionalism. Instead, I felt as though I had paid to be mistreated. It was both confusing and frustrating to be treated with such indifference, especially while traveling with a young child. This experience was far below the standard I associate with Hotel Indigo and I hope this feedback will prompt a closer look at the culture and training at this location. Guests should never feel like a burden to staff.

The black receptionist in the evening was friendly, however the day attendant acted like we didn't exist. The room was average, hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. The bed sheets and towels had stains on them, there was crude around the shower door, and there were live bugs on the wall in the toilet area. I used my clorox wipes to clean high touch areas and they were all black once finished. The location is great and we didn't pay for parking on the weekend, however it appears parking would be sparse and fee based during the week (by the city). Indigo is a get what you pay for experience. I'll stay in Birmingham next time or try the Embassy Hotel up the street.

This was my favorite of our nine day trip. The hotel was beautiful, and the location was wonderful!

My stay was extremely enjoyable! The hotel is in a beautiful location adjacent to Riverfront Tuscaloosa, and very close to the Mercedes Benz Amphitheatre. There's lots to see and do! My room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I slept like a baby! I couldn't get into the rooftop restaurant because it was July 4th, and people were there to see the fireworks. My room actually overlooked the beautiful park, and the fireworks display. I highly recommend staying at the Indigo if you visit Tuscaloosa!

Loved the location. Where there to visit the University of Alabama. The hotel was within walking distance of many wonderful eateries.

We live in Birmingham and stayed at Hotel Indigo for my husband’s company holiday party. We were able to check in early and get ready for our evening. After the soirée we had a bit at the rooftop bar and grill. Great food, great drinks and wonderful service. E were able to take our drinks back to our room and enjoyed a great night. We will stay again!

Traveling all day and looking for a good hotel with a bar and a restaurant. We found the Indigo in Tuscaloosa. Comfy bed, large room, restaurant with a patio, fireplace and look out view. One small suggestion… Wine list was pricey, perhaps a few “house” brands that are not $12 a glass.

Room was river view. Do not waste your money because you could barely see the river. Wanted to take a walk on the river walk but when we got out of the car at the hotel the raw sewage smell was so bad that you couldn’t stay outside. Not sure where it was coming from but it was disgusting. The service at the rooftop bar was very slow and the bar food was overpriced. We didn’t get drinks. The bed was ok, but caused my back to hurt. Right

There was no microwave, of course an explanation was given. The breakfast was terrible, coffee was cold and continued to be even when I ask for another cup. The bacon was burned, the gravy/biscuits was salty.

This property is located on beautiful Riverfront Park and it's an easy walk up a slight incline to Entertainment District of Tuscaloosa. We booked breakfast as part of our reservation and the price of only $15 for the two of us still gave us an exceptional and delicious gourmet breakfast.

Check in was quick and easy. Front desk clerk was courteous and informative. The decor in and out of the rooms was vibrant and of good taste. Rooms were clean and everything worked as expected. Ordered dinner from the restaurant on the 5th floor. The food was brought to our room and it was delicious. Breakfast was made to order and it was good. Enjoyed the stay and would stay again.
