Unico Hotel Riviera Maya Adults Only

Excelente servicio, nos hicieron un upgrade de habitación de cortesía. La playa no es buena, bastante alga, con reposeras malas y poca sombra. Pero las albercas excelentes, dos con ambiente de música, actividades y una más alejada y tranquila. Bastante evento de matrimonios, por lo que se ven grupos grandes de estadounidenses. Las reposeras de la alberca hay que reservarlas bien temprano si quieres elegir dónde quedarte. Todos los restaurantes con comida excelente, mucha variedad y faciales de reservar (por whatsapp o mensaje de texto con tu resort service). La verdad es que todo me gusto mucho, menos la playa que me habría gustado poder disfrutarla más (de todas maneras me tocaron días de mucho viento, que según me explicaban no era lo común).

The hotel was clean & rooms were great . Food selection not the greatest & beach was not great. Rocks everywhere as you enter. Brown water.( not hotels fault ) Low to no entertainment during the day & evening time.

Overall. Good dining options, quality of food and drinks are generally very good. Accommodation is modern, clean, comfy beds. We had a swim up pool, a great option. Staff were plentiful and helpful. The concierge was responsive. There were just a couple of negatives that slightly marr the experience.They go hard at you with a heavy sales pitch on the Hard Rock group membership (40-80k commitment). If you sign up for the free massage expect 1.5-2hr where the last 30-45 mins are hard sell through a total of 3-4 reps. It's a bit much and doesn't leave the best taste, even with a free massage this is way too much. The slightly off position on this is, they view the captive audience as fair game for classic hard sell tactics. Additionally, the assumption that everybody that walks through the door is a target for a substantial membership commitment regardless of their family set up and vacation schedule. All while being on vacation at the time. There's a couple of comments on property upkeep. Overall it's very good. But, there are some details that get overlooked, such as tiles falling off the swimup spa. Not deal breaker and easily resolved. The pool dj was very good. It just happened every other day. In all honesty for us, it was a little too quiet without it every day. Equally, evening entertainment was sparse. They could easily have entertainment outside in the evening but choose not too. The "club" area is not conducive to chat, it doesn't really fit.

Loved our stay. Staff was very helpful and kind. Every need was met from drinks to cleaning staff. Beds and pillows were awesome. Only draw back was pools were painted black and a little to warm. The one quite pool was painted white and was cooler.

When we arrived they told us they had upgraded our room to a larger size so we had a living room as well as a bedroom. Everything was amazing. From the food to the friendly staff. We didn’t spend much time at the beach because there was a limited area for the beach and there weren’t many chairs there but the pools were great. We loved the pool with the basketball hoops inside. We had a lot of fun there especially when the DJ was playing music. There was always someone ready to take our drink order which was amazing. When we would go back to our room to relax it was very quiet which was nice. Overall an amazing experience.

The staff, amenities, cleanliness, and restaurants were great! I recommend bringing extra cash for tips. MURA House was the highlight of our dining experience. The only thing that would have been nice is to have a pool that was a little further away from the noisier pool, if you are truly looking for a quiet place to relax. The music can sometimes feel like you are in an Amphitheatre from your balcony, so it can kind of be annoying when it starts in the morning. Outside of that, the wildlife, beach, and ambiance was a 10/10.

We didn’t like the time share opportunity that they keep trying to get us to join. They don’t like to take no for an answer. Very pushy. It’s also really strange how you have to be a member to swim in certain pools. With that being said they have a Very well ran establishment. Service is top notch. The food was really good. We didn’t like how some restaurants were closed on certain days. Theres not much for entertainment there. The spa is really expensive and massages weren’t the best. Room service food was amazing. They really take pride in their food and service. Everyone speaks really good English. Which made our stay very enjoyable. USA transfers was great for transportation from and to airport. Felt really safe with them.

This resort is simply amazing, all the staff members were super helpful and attentive.they took care of your needs within the first 2 minutes of walking in to an area. The staff made sure everything was taken care of. The resort is super clean and very decorative. They had a super clean aroma throughout the resort which was amazing and relaxing. The gym is well equipped and offered several machines. If you want a very relaxing morning and night definitely book here. The pools were very clean and enjoyable. Definitely book here for a couples getaway!

Hot tub was hot…only issue we noticed was the actual hot tubs by the pool were barely warm

UNICO was a bit of a letdown. We chose it for a birthday celebration, expecting to be amazed, but unfortunately that was not the case. On the positive side, the staff was wonderful. Our butler Tony was excellent, and our housekeeper Felicita took great care of us. We had no complaints about their service and they were truly the highlight of our stay. Where things fell short was with the property itself. We were surprised to learn UNICO only opened in 2017 because some areas look much older. The resort is in need of better maintenance and more attention to cleanliness, especially in the pools, hallways and elevators. Another disappointment was the limited dining options during the day, since the only choices for breakfast and lunch were the buffet and the poolside food for lunch. The biggest disappointment was the sales pressure. If you attend their presentation, be prepared because the sales approach is extremely aggressive. After our initial meeting we politely said no thank you, yet three more people approached us trying to sell the same thing. Even after completing a survey at the hotel and expressing how uncomfortable the experience was, the manager still pushed us to buy a membership. Overall the staff’s hospitality was excellent, but the resort itself, the lack of dining variety during the day, and the high-pressure sales tactics made our stay less enjoyable than we had hoped.

Check in was not the most satisfactory experience as room upgrade was not honored and nothing else was offered. Due to a wedding on the first night, it was quite loud when we were trying to get some rest as we started our day at 3am. I specifically asked for a quiet room on my reservation and during check in. Unfortunately it doesn’t not seem to matter enough for them to give us a room that is further away from the wedding party. The property shows its age, which is a bit surprising for an 6-year-old property. There was a sizable nail hanging on top of our balcony sliding door. Most staff are excellent and courteous. The beach is the most disappointing part of the resort. It seems that the seaweed was not cleaned for a long time that some of them are rotting and smelly. We saw the hotel had a backhaul cleaning the seaweed on the beach. It doesn’t seem to be the most efficient equipment to do the job. Next door resort has the special machine that just rolled up the seaweeds. We have also seen the same machine used at Banyan Tree and Andaz in Mayakoba. We would strongly recommend the hotel invest in the proper equipment to clean up the beach as it is a beautiful beach. The backhaul also takes sand away from the beach. Sometimes a cheaper solution would end up costing more later on.

Everything was amazing! Immediately from arriving you can tell how much love they pour into this resort. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Axel Rodriguez was amazing! He really ensured everything we needed was taken care of. The grounds are incredibly clean and well maintained.

The property lack of maintenance is unfortunately really bad. The walls in the entire hotel need paint. Broken tiles in all hallways. The gym is clean but there are machines that have been broken for a long time like the stairs master for example. The spa had almost everything broken and deteriorated for men. Not Steam Room, No Could plunge working and the jacuzzi looks like it was never clean and tiles are coming off from underneath. Dinning is extremely limited in options. Definitely not what we expected for a 5 Star rated hotel. I am comparing it to the Atelier which is almost the same price and it is like day and night. I would never go back to this facility.

We had the most amazing stay at Unico Resort in the Riviera Maya. The property is beautiful—modern, elegant, and immaculately maintained. Everything from the rooms to the pool areas and restaurants felt luxurious and thoughtfully designed. The quality of service was exceptional across the board, but a special thank you goes to Janet, our personal concierge. She went above and beyond to make our trip seamless and personalized. Whether it was helping with reservations, arranging activities, or just checking in to make sure we had everything we needed, she was incredible! If you're looking for a relaxing, high-end getaway with top-notch customer service, Unico should be at the top of your list. We can't wait to go back!

We had a wonderful time at Unico. The food was really good- in our opinion on par with The Grand at Moon Palace. Some dishes were a miss, but many were great, especially at dinner. We liked the Italian and Asian restaurants the most. The lunch food options were limited and mostly fried, but the wood fired pizza was solid. The drinks were similar, in that the pool drinks tended to have too much sugar, but if you went to a bar at night, they would make a proper cocktail. The room was very clean and a good size for two people. We had a swim-out in Building 1, which seemed more private than many of the other buildings, so we got a lot of use out of it. The swim out would be less appealing in any other building where they are basically on the main path. One other bonus for going in the summer is that we saw two mama turtles laying eggs at night and saw two baby turtles making their way to the ocean in the morning. The only real downside we noticed is that trash, mostly just empty cups/cans, would sit around in public spaces for way too long. We saw the same cups sitting along the main path for an entire day. Countless employees must have walked by but nobody cleaned it up. This was a recurring theme. The Manager of the property should make it a duty of every employee to pick up random garbage they see, even if its not their official job. It would make the property look much better and give a more 5 star feel. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Very nice service overall, people really having you feeling confortable, really attentive. The food is good, better than most of the hotels arount. Your private concierge will do everything for you. Thank you Emmanuel! Nevertheless, i was expecting much more regarding the hotel by itself, building, amenities, pool, vegetation considering the quality of other hotels around with similar price point. Improvement in overall hotel maintenant won't be an extra. Everything looks a litle bit aged. Garden/ landscape isn't a reference. Pools are not clean enough ( hosts during my stay were also probably not the most educated and clean...).overall good experience thanks to the employees there doing their best for you, but a property to improve urgently to match with it price point!

The hotel is really amazing, great facilities and installations. The room was ver spacious and comfortable, wee had an issue with the blow dryer, but it was taken care immediately. The only issue was the service, mostly in the restaurants and pool. It must be challengeful to train local people, it needs special attention.

Our host, Laura, was top notch. From the moment we met her, after being awake for 20 hours, she made us feel like we were home. She tended to our every need and sat and talked to us by the pool. She was the BEST!! At the end of our stay, our transportation that we had arranged never showed up to take us to the airport. Laura stepped in and immediately called us a taxi and we make it to the airport with plenty of time to spare. We felt so lucky to have Laura as our host for our stay. Our room was beautiful and spotless. The staff responded to our only need (more towels) on the second day in a timely manner. We stayed on the first floor so we didn't have ocean views; however, we still had a beautiful view of the plants, trees and pool. We still felt like we had privacy. The soaking tub on the balcony was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!

Beautiful but the air conditioner didn’t work well

Firstly, the claim of "ocean front" rooms was slightly misleading, as the view was not entirely of the ocean. Even from the 4th floor, the sight was obstructed by numerous palm trees between the rooms and the ocean, limiting the true ocean view. Secondly, the lobby's temperature was uncomfortably cold, which was a downside to an otherwise pleasant stay."

My girlfriend and I went there for a Weeknd getaway and the first thing we noticed was security guard at the gate. We felt very safe. The reception area was very cozy and impressive. The facilities: restaurants, shopping store, the pool were clean and well organized. The room was a panoramic view to the ocean with a hot tub outside on the balcony, and it was excellent to enjoy it. You will like it there.

The Ocean front View we received as an upgrade was amazing. It was really quiet, clean, the staff was super nice and the food options at the restaurants they have are very good. I would recommend staying here if you are coming to Tulum.

They made us talk to like 6 different people selling basically a timeshare— and after telling them no, we ended up not even getting the free things offered to us if we just heard them out, because it took 4 hours of our day! And they booked our gifts during the presentation time. Do yourself a favor and just pay the excursions!

Our room was ready when we checked in at 12:30pm even though check in is advertised for 3pm. Our only complaint is how long it took to check in! They sat us on a couch in the lobby and had to talk to at least 3 people before we were given keys to our room. Even if the room hadn't been ready, that would have been okay. We were prepared to hang at the pool or walk around. Instead we had to sit on a couch in the lobby for an hour while we were checked in. We wished the process would have been much faster.

From the moment I arrived, the service was outstanding. The check-in process was smooth and welcoming, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed, with a super comfortable bed and great amenities. What stood out most was the attention to detail and genuine hospitality from the entire team. I’ve stayed in many hotels, but this one truly sets the standard. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return! My concierge was Manuel, who helped me with my bookings and any concerns.

I did quite a bit of research prior to booking our trip to Unico 2087. I had visited Mexico before at another resort and had excellent service, but felt that the food experience was lacking and had a hard time sleeping because it was so hot in my room. The reviews and research pointed me to Unico and I’m glad I did my homework. The check in process was great, we were sat on a couch and given drinks while we were being checked in. We were approached for a timeshare “breakfast” but simply said we weren’t interested, when gently asked if there was any reason we reiterated that we weren’t interested and that was the end of the pitch. We had arrived early and our room wasn’t quite ready yet, but our local host Axel showed us around and explained the property and amenities. He asked us about lunch and what we were craving, and recommended the 2087 grill. He walked us to the restaurant and checked us in. After eating lunch our room was ready. We were walked to our room and shown around. The property and our room was beautiful, welcoming and clean. We at at every restaurant with the exception of the new French restaurant Avic. The food was absolutely incredible, our favorite was Mura House (Asian). Our waitress Gabby is a gem, very personable and accommodating. Jesus, Mattias and Louis provided excellent service at the pool and Joshua had our cabana ready each morning with towels and towel pillows. Our experience was excellent and I cannot wait to return.

The property is great and most of the staff was 5 star. The issue for us came with the membership tour they take you on. We have Monic (spelling?) and she was rude, pushy and tried to pry into our personal spending and finances to try to make a sale. I do not lose my cool, but she was so rude when we reiterated that we do not do resort trips typically and instead travel to locations where we can immerse ourselves in the culture and she started insulting our travel preferences. She was rude and ruined what would have been a FANTASTIC stay for a large group couples trip to celebrate my birthday. I am in sales and this was an antiqued high pressure sales technique that left me wanting to just get away from her. For this reason, Unico went down in scores. Otherwise, I would give them 5 stars. The rest of their team was superb, but they need to train Monic or their entire sales team to tone it down and use updated sales techniques that focuses on experience to make the sale easy. The beach had a lot of rocks unless you walked down quite a ways to another resort's beach that had better/sandier access. The pool was great. The food was pretty good. I will mention, that almost all 7 husbands in our group ended up getting sick with diarrhea for over a month after our trip there. Doctors said it was from a bacterium that spreads in swimming pools. It was a reportable communicable disease that our doctors had to share with CDC. The property was beautiful though. So some good, some bad.

Our room was great and the staff was very courteous and considerate throughout out stay. My only criticism is your check in process. My girlfriend and I were tired from traveling and the process to check in took 90 minutes. Most of that time was taken up by trying to politely decline not wanting to purchase a time share. My advice to you is to ditch trying to sell your guests a time share the second they walk through the door. It made us uncomfortable and does not set a great tone for your stay there. Why? Simply because we saw that individual 2 other times throughout our stay and had to have the same conversation. No means no. It's a tale as old as time. We then found ourselves having to avoid that individual every time we caught sight of them because we didn't want to have same conversation a third or fourth time.

They were very pushy in selling their time share that they said wasn’t a timeshare, but it was. They told us the meeting would only be 90 minutes, but we were there closer to 3 hours.

Middle of trees and wild life, no crazy noise or neighbors

Unico was very clean and quite property. The food and the drinks were excellent. All staff were friendly. Our concierge, Eduardo, was kind and checked in on us daily. He answered any questions we had without delay. This is definitely more of a stay at the resort and chill at the pool kind of place. Harder to go into town when compared to Cancun.

The staff did whatever they could to make our stay at Unico very comfortable and pleasant. Hector helped to get our room upgraded due to a mishap with management placing us in the wrong room. He helped to organize reservations at the hotel restaurants and taxi transfers. He kept us well informed of all hotel amenities and activities. The Caribbean ocean is clear and warm with small waves, this is where we spent most of our days. The hotel is over an hour away from the Cancun airport and set in a Jungle environment. You won't need to leave the hotel for anything.

The check in was very smooth and thanks to Jose Antonio we got an amazing room with sea view in a quiet corner of the hotel. Our private concierge Daniela Robles did an amazing job in helping us with dinner reservation and reserving sun beds at the beach in the morning. The hotel has the beach on one side and jungle on the other side, so it was really cool to see some of the animals and birds so close. The japanese restaurant was excellent and the sashimi there was super high quality. In general the food was really good, and the breakfast buffet not too crowded. They also had an a la carte breakfast option. The only thing regarding food is that we expected a little bit more from the Mexican restaurant, considering we are in Mexico. Also the fish, exept from the sush, was not the best. But the drinks were great in every place we tried All in all we could definitely recommend this hotel.

Absolutely beautiful, exquisite resort in a wonderful setting. As a pair of LGBTQ travelers, everyone at the resort was affirming and sweet. The food was good. The pools and beach were wonderful. It was great that they have a quiet pool set up.

The property is great, the rooms are good size. The property is located in the middle of a big road between playa del carmen and Tulum and there’s nothing around. You need to take a taxi if you want to go downtown Tulum, or playa del Carmen and the taxi prices are ridiculously expensive. You can’t take uber in here. I would recommend this place if you have a car or if you plan to stay in the hotel the whole time.

Unico is the most incredible all inclusive resort I have ever been too. From the service, the food, the attention to detail... It was all perfect. My wife and I went there for our honeymoon and we were blown away at house attentive everyone was and how caring and friendly they were. They acknowledged our honeymoon almost everywhere we went and did some special things in our room for us as well. They were always making sure our stay was perfect and offered to fix anything we needed to make sure we were as comfortable and taken care of as possible. The food was out of this world amazing. My wife is a picky eater and there was not a single complaint about any of the restaurants or the buffet. Everything looked and tasted amazing... I can't single out any restaurant I would recommend because they were all equally mind blowing. Our host was Eduardo, from the moment we got there and met him up until our last day he was amazing. Made all of our reservations and changed any of them that we wanted. He sent us good morning messages everyday asking how our night was and our plans for the day... If we needed anything done in the room to make it better... If we were happy with everything. Extremely caring and professional. Cannot reccomded this place enough, it is well worth the price tag. My wife and I will definitely be coming back.

Bonne localisation sur la Riviera Maya, très bon accueil et services, bons restaurants, belle plage. Par contre, pas calme du tout, musique à fond à la piscine, restaurants aussi tres bruyant, personnes qui crient et mettent la musique à fond à 2h du matin… À part ça je garde un très bon souvenir de cet hôtel avec chambre magnifique.

The food could've been better. The choices at the restaurant were ok it had no taste and was blamed. Out of all the restaurant Italian was the best place love it.

I have stayed at all inclusive resorts in Mexico for a number of years and Unico is by far the best experience I have had. The resort is amazing, clean, beautiful, and has an amazing staff. Check-in was relaxing and I did not have to wait like I have at other resorts, the room was modern and comfortable with the staff doing what ever they could to make us feel at home. Our local host/butler Eduardo was fantastic, checking in with us daily, answering questions, helping with reservations and experiences, and making our stay something that I will always remember. One of our favorite experiences was the mixology class, it was an amazing experience and the mixologist was fun and engaging. The food was the best I have had in Mexico, there is something there for everyone. From poolside snacks to room service and restaurants everything was delicious. I am very excited for their new French restaurant to open and am confident that Unico is the only resort I will be going to from now on.

What i like about the property is their staffing crew members are always has a warm welcoming personalized and services each time we run into each other. What i do not like about this resort is the has 1 buffet option serving ONLY for breakfast. For lunch and dinner is available for restaurant style. Lunch and dinner we had at the Mexican restaurant and Japanese restaurant both places foods selections are bad. This resort is overrated on social media but once you experience it in person is the opposite.

We were walked to our room and shown around. The property and our room was beautiful, welcoming and clean. We at at every restaurant with the exception of the new French restaurant Avic. The food was absolutely incredible, our favorite was Mura House (Asian). Our waitress Gabby is a gem, very personable and accommodating. Jesus, Mattias and Louis provided excellent service at the pool and Joshua had our cabana ready each morning with towels and towel pillows. Our experience was excellent and I cannot wait to return.

We had a fabulous time at this property! The dining choices exceeded our expectations. We especially loved Mura the Asian restaraunt. The property is beautiful, clean and not overcrowded. The staff is friendly and helpful. I am telling everyone I know to go to Unico 20 87!

We had a wonderful time at Unico. The food was really good- in our opinion on par with The Grand at Moon Palace. Some dishes were a miss, but many were great, especially at dinner. We liked the Italian and Asian restaurants the most. The lunch food options were limited and mostly fried, but the wood fired pizza was solid. The drinks were similar, in that the pool drinks tended to have too much sugar, but if you went to a bar at night, they would make a proper cocktail. The room was very clean and a good size for two people. We had a swim-out in Building 1, which seemed more private than many of the other buildings, so we got a lot of use out of it. The swim out would be less appealing in any other building where they are basically on the main path. One other bonus for going in the summer is that we saw two mama turtles laying eggs at night and saw two baby turtles making their way to the ocean in the morning. The only real downside we noticed is that trash, mostly just empty cups/cans, would sit around in public spaces for way too long. We saw the same cups sitting along the main path for an entire day. Countless employees must have walked by but nobody cleaned it up. This was a recurring theme. The Manager of the property should make it a duty of every employee to pick up random garbage they see, even if its not their official job. It would make the property look much better and give a more 5 star feel. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back.
