Motel 6-Waterloo, IA

The staff was friendly.. People just standing around outside... Alot of guest living there with people coming in and out.. Room was ok, had a moldly smell..had a refrigerator no microwave or coffee pot in room. Towels and sheets were clesn but dingy looking... The pool had kids in it with no adult supervision..

On check in, the gal was very nice. The common bathroom keeps locking you out, the bathroom in the room locks you in, you have to play hide and seek to find the light switches. There is no coffee pot, microwave or hair dryer. You only get 2 small towels, so if there is more than one person, you have to bring them down to the desk to be washed and returned (I never got them back, so no shower for the other three people in our party). No clock or Kleenex. Oh, and there was poop on the floor by the pool, dog barking, kids running up and down the hallway.

My room did not have a refrigerator as advertised. There were no tissues provided in the room. The door to the bathroom dragged on the floor as its hinge was very lose and the door hit the shower curtain rod. Otherwise, we found no bedbugs which was great! The A/C unit worked well. The motel was not noisy and I slept fairly well for being away from home. When more towels were needed the staff provided them right away. My kids enjoyed the over-chlorinated pool.

The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. The downside was that previous customers had trashed the room that we booked, so things weren't really ready for us. The staff did a good job of trying to get things right for our stay. And our grandkids enjoyed the swimming pool.

I loked that no problem with my dog and staff was friendly what i didnt like was pool was closed and theydidnt have or pay enough to keep housekeepers so room was clean but didnt get finished till after we got there and not enough towels only 2 for 3 people

Check in went okay. We had to pay a 20.00 deposit along with out payment and would get it back after checkout. That was said no where in reservation. Got our first room. TV would not work and heater would not run longer than 30 seconds. They gave us another room. This one was a little better. I was updated I guess with a new heater, so that worked. We could not get TV to work again. Front desk came up and had to find is a different remote for the TV. So we had one to turn TV on and off and volume and another remote for finding channels. It worked. They did have a nice warm pool for my daughter so that was nice. Other than that, we would choose not to stay again. The front desk staff, both night shift and first shift were very nice and accommodating.

Dirt place full of bugs and smells damp. I ended up leaving and going to the Hampton Inn much better stay. No way I could sleep there too itchy

Neither room had towels and when we asked for towels we were told that they were in the dryer. Asked again 45 minutes later and we were told that the towels just went in the dryer. And hour later we were told that they sold out of towels. We had to go and buy towels at the store to be able to shower the next morning. When i asked for floor mats later that evening i was asked for the dirty towels that we had. Whe. I explained to the desk clerk that we had no towels in either of our rooms i was basically called a liar. Than was given 1 floor mat and 3 washcloths. Which were all stained. There were cigarettes burn marks all over the bedding. The pillows in the rooms were completely flat. There were drug users everywhere on the property. This was the worse experience I have ever had at a hotel.

Walked in my room, cockroach on the wall. Bathroom door broken, smelled like dope and people were in the parking lot doing shady stuff. Rooms facing the parking lot had the drapes open, and people watching who was driving in.

This place was horrible. There was a garbage can outside the room collecting water that was leaking from the ceiling. The front desk recommended we lock our doors at all times including the chain latch. Smelled like weed and the towels looked like someone wiped their butt with them and were never washed.

I killed a cockroach in the bathroom. There was blood splattered on the back of the bathroom door. The bed was comfortable.

Not clean bugs

The place is very dingy and smells. The 2 guys at the front counter were nice but they weren't very professional. The bed sheets were kind of gross and had stains.

My room was filthy! The sheets looked like it had dog paw prints, running across it, and there were stains on both the comforter and the sheets. There was a dirty washcloth in the sink and a towel that I was told was clean, was laying across the back of the toilet. It was a no smoking room and smelled horribly like cigarette smoke. The TV didn’t work, and I was told that none of the TVs in the building were working because they were updating something. I asked if I could get a different room and I was told that there were no other rooms available because their housekeeper had recently retired and they hadn’t found anyone to replace her. So, I’m assuming they didn’t have any other rooms prepared, because the parking lot didn’t have many vehicles in it. I was exhausted and in the middle of nowhere, and I didn’t have a choice to try to find somewhere else to stay. I asked if I could get even a partial refund and was told absolutely not. There were people fighting and drunk in the parking lot as well as drunk in the hallway of the building. I was scared to death! I am not a picky person when it comes to staying in a motel room. As long as it’s clean, comfortable, and safe, it is satisfactory to me. This room and property, were none of the above!

The entire hotel smells like mildew. The room had been partially re-done: new furniture and floor, but old bathroom, holes in walls, etc. The mattress was comfy, but there were holes in the sheet that somehow managed to be scratchy. There were black oily fingerprints in the shower and on the shower curtain. The base of the toilet hadn't been cleaned recently. The walls are very thin, so we heard every conversation in the halls. No breakfast, which we knew going in. There was coffee in the mornings. We are very far from being coffee snobs (day old microwaved coffee is fine), but both of us took a sip and dumped out the rest.

The room was clean but only 2 really lousy pillows. No shampoo no hair dryer. No coffee either in room or on the premises. No breakfast at all. I guess you get what you pay for. The mattress was good.

We asked for a non smoking room but our room smelled like cigarette smoke and our clothes smelled like it when we left. we usually stay here annually to attend a function in Dunkerton, but we will not stay here again in the future.

We chose this location since it is really close to the hospital where my husband had surgery. The staff was accommodating and helped with extra pillows and such for post op. The room was ok, it was clean but the bed spread and blankets had burn holes in them. There is no coffee pot or microwave in the rooms. There was so much noise and blaring music, that it woke us up. Apparently there are at a miminum of 4 people that live here, and they all huddle by the front door. Totally regretted my choice of hotels!

I will never stay here again from the beginning I had reservations for 3 rooms 2 king with hot tub and 1 double queen I made reservations 1 week in advance apon arrival they did not have my rooms tried to charge me more for different room and I got stuck in a room that was a smoking room I don’t smoke also 1 of our other rooms the shower didn’t even work just a horrible experience

This was not the first time for me to stay at this location. My first experience was good; however, this stay i just completed was the exact opposite. The halls/rooms were very noisy. Thursday night the other patrons did not quiet down until 4am Friday morning then they didn't quiet down til 2am Saturday morning. This is not acceptable. When I mentioned it to the front desk, he said I was basically lying. He worked there all night and it was not noisy and I was full of crap. Also when he went to check the room at checkout, he accused me of smoking in my room. He said it had a bad smoking smell like I had done that in the room. Well let me tell you. the whole hall smelled of cigarette smoke. It smelled like that as soon as you turned the corner to go down the hall to get to my room. He was very disrespectful, and I will probably not stay here again.

The 1st room was clean, however the beds only had 1 pillow per guest amd very thin. Upon starting showers I had to go to the front desk to ask for towels and washrags. Courtesy small bars of soap were provided but no shampoo or conditioner available. There were also no cups or glasses to drink out of. The refridgerator sounded like it was an airplane getting ready to take off we unplugged it from the wall. Only 1 useable electrical outlet was available to charge 4 phones and 3 headsets. The 2nd room hadnt even been completed and ready for the other 3 in our party to stay in. They arrived at 1245am and when I first checked in the attendant Sharla said it would be cleaned and ready for when the rest of our family got there 7 hours and 45 minutes later it wasnt! The person who was suppose to do the housekeeping stated to my daughter "they knew I wanted to go out tonight". There were only 1 pillow on each bed. The lobby reeked of drugs. Trying to go to sleep at 11pm was very difficult because of the numerous animals in the building were barking constantly and we had to be up at 430am to be ready for the State Trap Championship competition. No coffee was made this morning and no attendant to check out with either.

The front desk and house keeping staff were smoking weed in the front lobby and the staff then went outside and stared at us when we were getting our luggage out of the car. We packed up and drove home. Did not feel safe

There were noisy guests upstairs and downstairs with loud music playing through a window to the parking lot. Front desk staff, while helpful, seemed annoyed by requests.

Horrible experience here. People live in this motel. Bad area people casing cars in the parking lot. Should be low income housing. Do not stay here.

The stay was alright the remotes didnt work the room literally smelled like someone smoked about a hundred cigars and i am a smoker and it was terrible the construction was sloppy outside as i popped my tire and had to have it fixed when we came out the the entrance to go out side they had a garbage can woth screens and the framing were hanging out of the garbage and snagged on us as it was there for 2 days
