The Inn on Mount Desert

Very charming inn in Bar Harbor in a great location close to Acadia NP. Downtown Bar Harbor area was an easy walk down the street. Delicious breakfasts, comfortable and clean accommodations with an elevator, ice maker and laundry facilities, beautiful grounds, easy parking. Would definitely stay here again.

Clean, in town location, a couple of blocks from all the action. great grounds, free breakfast on porch was perfect. really good coffee.

Lovely hotel with clean rooms and close to town. Decent breakfast served with 2 options each day for hot dishes in addition to the continental breakfast. There is ample parking and a pool table and small gym on the first floor. Highly recommended.

From the front desk staff to the room to the location of the property, everything was wonderful. Breakfast each day was very tasty and fresh made. Staff were quite friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. Our room was comfortable and quiet even being right next to the elevator. The property overall was lovely and we walked everywhere in Bar Harbor. Only had to get our car to drive to Acadia NP. We also loved the amenities of the hotel - especially the laundry!

I brought my 2 young children and the staff were friendly and very helpful, especially our check in. We stayed 2 nights. The room and bathroom were clean. We appreciated the fridge and microwave with kids traveling. We enjoyed the pool table one afternoon. It is so close to everything. The breakfast is fresh made and it is option A or option B and it changed each day. Delicious and fine for me, my kids are picky, but I was prepared for that (fridge again). The beds were much softer than I like, but that's my issue.

Very convenient to Main Street downtown, just a few blocks to walk or drive. Parking on site, easy access to Inn. Bed was great, bathroom was very tiny and less than appealing. We were facing the roadway in our room and we did not experience any noise which was a plus. Breakfast was included in the rate and was choice of pancakes or a frittata. Coffee and muffins and fruit were also options. We are coffee lovers and would give the coffee a thumbs down, but nice selection of hot teas. Overall, clean and great location. This is akin to a mini hotel.

Great place with a nice garden and rocking chairs. Loved the afternoon cookies and the two option breakfast was very nice, a bit more up scale compared to a buffet.

Period architecture, upscale bed-and-breakfast vibe, wonderful staff. Breakfast offerings made to order. Set in quiet/scenic neighborhood. Residence has sitting area, library, garden area. Elevator for mobility issues. Plenty of parking. Short walk to village square. Five stars!

Maria at the front desk was especially friendly and helpful as well as another young man whose name I didn’t catch. I loved that we had a great place to park our RV out back for a night in a hotel with a shower and a laundry.

Overall a good stay. The rooms and hallways are very out of date and slightly smelly. But the parking was easy and free, and the included breakfast was very good.

For the price and from other reviews we expected more. Trash containers were full in public areas, no bar, good parking. Not an “inn” in the New England sense, think hotel. Nice garden on the side and outdoor porch seating. Lower level felt damp.

Sparklingly clean! Cool decor. Billiards room is a unique touch. Will definitely recommend and be back!

Nice Property and Nice location. Clean and quiet. Only problème was that the heating system was not Working properly.

Definitely needs some touch up paint. Rec room/work out room needs some updating, our room had a sink without a drain stop a faucet that was loose and a hot water control that was extremely difficult to turn. Breakfast although a nice touch was mediocre at best eggs were overcooked pancakes and waffles were dry, hard and seemed to be prepared earlier and reheated or bought premade and reheated. Overall did not feel the property was worth the price paid.

This was a clean property with a great breakfast and new rooms

This is a true “old” Maine experience. The young, energetic staff greeted us with a warm welcome and continually checked to make sure our needs were met. The rooms were decorated in nautical themes. They were not large but well proportioned. Th bed was fantastic. The bed linens and bath towels were excellent and EVERYTHING was spotless. It was such a nice change from commercial properties. We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We high,y recommend this lovely inn.

The hotel was very clean, staff was friendly, especially Conor who welcomed us when we checked in. Coffee and baked goods were offered all day and breakfast was excellent. The decor had a nautical flair with art work through out. We also enjoyed relaxing on the front porch. If you're planning on going to Bar Harbor we highly recommend staying here.

This is a beautiful inn on Mt. Desert Island! The only MAJOR problem is that there was no hot water, so we couldn't shower, something they should have told us when we registered. The beds are exceedingly comfortable, but I really would have liked to shower in the morning.

Room was comfortable and clean. Neighbors upstairs were noisy until after 0000, but that’s not the hotel’s fault. I’d recommend booking a top floor. Also don’t book by the entry door, it’s insulated but still noisy. Breakfast was BNB quality.

Nice place only down fall was the bed was like sleeping on plywood and the toilet was a very high seating toilet

The room I stayed in was right next to the elevator, the checkin desk, and the common lobby. I cold hear everything. I'm not sure why this is a room option. The floors/walls are incredibly thin. Bar Island room. I could still hear everything with ear plugs in the whole time.

Nice in town location. Close to everything. Small rooms. Would expect better pillows and premium bedding. No robes- expected in this category. Nice daily breakfasts. Fairly friendly service. No maid service, after nearly a week- after requesting. Finally came thru. A mid level Inn with high prices, that don’t quite match.

Acceptable accommodations for the night. Good staff and breakfast. Clean. Comfortable bed. Really a 2 Star hotel in fit, finish and quality of furnishings.

In general, I rate hotels on cleanliness and ability to get good sleep. Cleanliness was excellent. However, abioity to get sleep was poor. My room (Called “Precipice”) was immediately beside the kitchen. So, at 5:45 am, I was awakened by kitchen staff slamming cabinets, pots, etc in making breakfast for that day. I discussed with staff. They acknowledged that was a problem with this room and another called Beehive. But, provided no solutions or discounts for the inconvenience. I requested that they post this issue in their bookings but see that they did not. So, if you don’t kind being awoken at 5:45 am, then no problem. Otherwise, stay elsewhere.

Quiet, but walkable to the Village Green and all the restaurants and shopping. Great staff! Friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was fantastic. Laundry machine broken (coin laundry). Staff lackluster (aside from great breakfast staff). Old building, dark carpet, loud AC unit.

-Room was not ready at the 3:00 PM check-in time. Staff was still cleaning an entire floor and did not coordinate with each other so they sent me to a room that was 25% ready -Staff hardly ever worked the front desk. They were not there before 3:00 PM, so you have to call in order to get someone and no one was there to check us out at 11:00 AM either. -Parking lot is not monitored. People who were not guests used the limited parking and you sometimes had to go elsewhere -Room amenities were very average. Shower was tiny. -Staff had the feel of not being welcoming/knowing what they were doing -2.3/5, will not be staying here again

Charming! The staff is outstanding in every way.

The staff was warm, friendly and helpful. Diana, Mariya and Morgan were wealths of knowledge. Conner, Theresa and Phem always had a smile and were there to help. Thank you for having such a great team there. I look forward to visiting the Inn on Mount Desert again.

Connor and Cody were amazing! So kind and helpful. You are lucky to have them. Breakfast served daily was top notch and the location was a walk to town and a short bike or drive to Acadia. The hotel thought of everything from laundry pods and machines to fresh cookies in the afternoon when you arrive home from your activities. We used the sitting areas both inside and out to have drinks, read and have pizza. Very well done! We will stay here again.

Connor was great at the front desk and all the amenities were great. Easy location to walk into town and also great location to be at to head into Acadia. They had a lot of pamphlets for tours and ideas around the area as well.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Inn on Mount Desert. From the moment we arrived the place felt comfortable and welcoming. All the staff were extremely pleasant and made you feel at home. Starting each morning with their amazing breakfast was a great way to start our day. Our room was on a corner and had great windows and a view of Mt Desert Street, but we never noticed any road noise. Additionally, our room was very clean and comfortable with all the amenities we needed. I would highly recommend staying at The Inn on Mount Desert for at least a night but preferably a few! Also, we happened to be there for the Bar Harbor Bed Races so getting to cheer on The Inn in the race was also a highlight.

What distinguishes this lovely hotel is the effort put into the decor to feature the island and the exceptional staff. This will be my third visit and Phem, Mariya and Sophia particularly reached out to make us feel welcome.

Great property! The butterfly garden was beautiful. The beds were comfortable. Very clean! Nice patios! Parking was easy & the location is great. Walkable. The front desk guy was very nice, but the guy making breakfast was kind of rude. We would stay again because it was very nice.

Lovely staff. Easy walk to shops, dining, Main St, bicycle rentals, Desert Island, Bar Harbor Whale Watch, etc. A few minutes drive to an entrance for Acadia. 6 min drive to Cadillac Mountain gate entrance. Nice breakfast to be ready for the day.

Perfect place to stay in Bar Harbor. Shopping and restaurants are all within walking distance and Acadia is just a few minutes by car. The large parking lot behind the hotel is also very convenient.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The bed was comfy and the staff was really accommodating when we asked for extra pillows. There were warm cookies available each afternoon, which was a nice touch, and the breakfast was pretty good. Each day for breakfast they offer a sweet and savory option plus they have typical continental style options, so there is plenty to eat. We also liked the location of this hotel. It was in a pretty quiet area, but we could easily walk to the center of town (6 minute walk) and drive to Acadia National Park. Having a washer and dryer on the first floor was a nice touch as well. In terms of things we didn’t love… The bathroom here wasn’t my favorite, but it was workable. The bathroom faucet is located in the entryway to the room whereas the toilet and tub/shower are in the bathroom. It made the bathroom feel small and cramped, but it was workable. While breakfast was good, it was a little slow sometimes. Even though they have a sweet option and a savory one, a lot of people were asking for custom breakfasts (using the same ingredients), which the staff obliged. It was nice of the staff to be so agreeable, but I think it made the breakfast take longer. One day I waited 30 minutes for an omelet. The speediness of having a limited menu is defeated when you take all kinds of menu requests. Overall though we liked the hotel and would stay here again.

Great place to stay in Bar Harbor. The included breakfast was very limited. I asked for eggs and they said the only option was with a liquid pre-mix which I refused. I think most people would be happy with real eggs and some type of bread. Service was very friendly!

All good. Coffee a bit weak for out taste but top notch everything else, including the full breakfast. Easy and pleasant stroll to Main St. and the harbor. Will return.

This property was just amazing! From the location, to the morning breakfast and afternoon cookies, to the staff, we enjoyed our stay immensely. We will definitely be back!
