Nice hotel in a great area close to Beale Street. (10-15 minute walk). Parking is next door in a garage using cell phone check in process. Hotel is undergoing MAJOR renovation which includes entire lobby so check in is a little confusing at first but fine. Staff is great, very nice folks. Hot hot water in shower (wonderful!)

Too bad the restaurant was closed. This would have been an added bonus.

Nice clean room, friendly service. Very basic breakfast but fine. Easy parking next door. All the main bits of Memphis within walking distance. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The only disappointment was the hotel bar, which looks really nice and is fully lit up was not open. A shame a it would have been good to get a drink at the end of the day at the hotel.

The pictures of this hotel are significantly better than how the hotel actually looks. It’s a nice hotel overall but some areas are dated and need fresh paint. When I stayed here I was told the bar/restaurant was being renovated so it would be only open for the continental breakfast. The “breakfast” consisted of stale danishes, muffins, juice, granola and yogurt. No serving utensils and an extremely limited amount. Once the single platefuls were gone, they stated that was all they had, regardless of how many guests they had. Parking was in a deck next door and was an inconvenience because you have to call or text the company to be let out of the gate each time you had to exit. Overall it’s a decent hotel and I would stay here again only for 1 or 2 days.

The only elevator went out of service. Luckily there are only 5 stories but we were on the 5th floor.

No restaurant or bar and carpets looked old and frayed. The room halls had a smell. The mattress was the worse I have ever “tried” to sleep on. Lumpy and uncomfortable. I didn’t sleep for three days. The area is very derelict. Boarded up buildings all around. Very uncomfortable feeling when walking outside to the car. No parking attached, street or a structure next door.

The hotel was clean but under some remodeling so the kitchen/bar was closed. They had a continental breakfast that was a joke with mini muffins and hot yogurt. They had a parking garage next to the property but no access from the garage to the hotel so it was kind of inconvenient. It was within walking distance of Beale street. The bed was a little hard but the room was clean and nice.

Front Desk staff are very helpful and welcoming. Lovely historic building but noisy. Corner room was clean but small with a tiny closet. Elevator was fine when we checked in but out of service for rest of our stay. Parking garage next door is convenient but automated entry/exit via phone can be tricky.

Did not like the no parking for the hotel. There is a parking space right beside location.

The staff was great, especially the day staff. The lobby was very nice and restaurant looked very nice. The hotel rooms were not as clean or nice as a normal hotel at this rate

Carpeting was old and stained. The hotel really needs an upgrade. The website pictures are much nicer than the actual hotel

Cleanliness in the room and public areas left a lot to be desired from a former hotel Director of Housekeeping.

The hotel was in a convenient location and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the property has some age. Fixtures, carpets worn. Shower grout was showing signs of mildew. Rooms did allow for noise to pass through from room to room.

The staff was friendly, but the carpet in the room was dirty, the linens were not comfortable, and the pillows were awful. The first night I didn’t get any sleep because it was so hot. They have the thermostats in the rooms programmed so they can’t drop below 68 degrees. When we first got in our room, it was 81 degrees and somebody had to come in to fix it. It took an hour to cool off the room.

The decor was attractive when you first come in. After that, it was terrible. There was never anyone at the front desk. My room smelled strange and the hot water did not work very well. The fridge also leaked and left the carpet all wet.

Carpets need a definite upgrade. They need to clean the windows in the rooms and probably be replaced with double-pane for insulation and sound proofing. Great big bathroom which I like, and the shower had great pressure. Could have stayed in there all day. Location was pretty good and conveniently close to everything but far enough away to be fairly quiet.

It’s a cool looking hotel, and the price isn’t bad. But it’s also not perfect by any stretch. After a nine hour drive to get there, the guy working the front desk trash talked our home city (he apparently grew up one town over). Some of our towels were not clean, which became more of a problem when housekeeping never came by our room the next day. Then, when I called the front desk for replacement towels, there was only one guy working the desk and no other employees, so he couldn’t leave to bring us any. And the walls are VERY thin. When the people one room over started smoking weed, we smelled it immediately. When they started having sex, we could hear everything. So, they were having a better time than we were. Also, our room’s AC didn’t work so it was hot as hell. Again, cool looking place, and maybe we were the victims of circumstance more than a bad hotel. But it was not ideal.

Hotel is cute and has potential, great location for walking to FedEx Center - it has not been kept up. It is need of deep cleaning and revamp of carpets. Rooms and general areas did not feel clean.

When we called the front desk they said the units were just old but it was cool outside so the temperature would drop after the sun went down. It was was stuffy, warm and humid all night and the room ne’er got cooler than 75 degrees.

Room did not have ample lighting. Annoying that entry access on ‘Ground’ floor did not work with key card (even though it was set up to do so). Only one small elevator that often resulted in a long wait. Staff was very friendly, room was clean and adequate for our needs. Proximity to Beale Street is great if that’s what you’re there for, although sadly downtown Memphis isn’t looking its best these days.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is obviously older but well maintained. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. We did not like that our a/c had a cap on it and couldn’t be set below 68 degrees. We like it cooler to sleep and it felt a little stuffy at times. We were in town for a concert at Autozone park which was right next door—super convenient!! We felt safe in the hotel and even as a family felt safe enough to walk to the Peabody to watch the ducks, Huey’s, and Rendezvous for dinner. We didn’t love the parking. There is a parking deck next door but the entrance/exit and lugging your belongings at check-in/out was a bit inconvenient. The hotel offered complimentary coffee and croissants in the lobby which we appreciated as well as a free late checkout if desired. Overall I’d stay here again.

The room was listed as having queen beds but the beds were doubles. The bar downstairs was terrible; we had to throw our drinks away.

Great staff and well kept property. A convenient location that is negatively impacted by the excessive traffic noise in the wee hours (at least on the west side of the building).

The beds are way to large for the room size. It leaves very little walking space. I constantly kept bumping my leg pn the corners if the bed. They should you queen beds only or a flod out bed, or wall pull out beds. I understand that it is a historical hotel, but they the advice of a decorator to get advice due to the size and shapes of the room. The TV could have been mounted on the wall, and avoid the desk underneat it. Smaller sleek stand a lone dressers could be place elsewhere in the room. Lovely hotel, but due to it room shapes and sizes they were not carefully thought out in furniture arrangements for the room. An expert in room design would be beneficial to use. The hotel itself was very antique, which i love, but the room floorplans absolutely did not work. Note, i am not a huge person i could only imagine those who were over 150 lbs trying to move around past the end of the bed. Also the mattresses left a gap around the edges, causing you to scrape the back of your leg while getting out of the bed each time. I love the bathroom area, but the floor plans for the bedrooms need to be revisited with smaller beds. I was in a 'KING CORNER' on the third floor. Bed was wayyyy to big for the floor space. Hopefully these issues can be addressed to make this hotel a "go to first" place on my hotel list. It was iconic, but only needs better room designs. Another friend's room was the same way to their dislike also.

I have never stayed at a upscale hotel that had smaller rooms. Our room was tiny.

Very nice property. Rooms was great. Street noise was the biggest complaint, but you will get that with any downtown stay. Would stay here again!

Only one complaint in that I could hear much street noise late at night, but I was tired from all my walking, so still slept well. Lol

The hotel itself was ok. However the lobby and bar were kept at 75 degrees and the manager told us no when we asked if it could be cooled down. The thermostat in the room wouldn’t go below 68 degrees, the shower leaked all over the floor. And the night time guy at the counter was rude. Overall I would choose somewhere else to stay when you’re in Memphis.

Absolutely lovely hotel to stay whilst in Memphis. Easy access and walkable distance to Beale street. Rocky at the front desk was amazing very welcoming. When we got in from a stressful day of driving and car issues Rocky directed us to an amazing bar where we could get some food.

This was our first trip to Memphis and we were very pleased with this hotel and location. Nicely appointed room and the staff were very friendly and helpful with all our questions. Great walking distance to many restaurants and bars and the hotel bar was great just needs to be open later. Liked the complimentary use of the umbrella when it was raining.

Clean room and friendly staff. The only gripe I have is a small one and it has nothing to do with customer service because that aspect was excellent. I just do not like these sliding barn doors for the bathroom that so many hotels are going to. But the hotel itself is great. We saw a show at FedEx Forum and I always try to get hotels within walking distance and this location was perfect.

My experience with Hotel Napoleon was unfortunately tainted by a frustrating issue with my booking. Due to a mix-up between Expedia and the hotel, I was forced to pay twice for my stay with the expectation of receiving a refund for one of the charges. The hotel staff personally assured me that I would be reimbursed after making the second payment, but weeks later, after multiple back-and-forth conversations with Expedia, I was told that the hotel’s manager had declined my refund request. It wasn’t until Expedia reviewed the audio recording from the night of my check-in that I finally received my money back—without an apology from either Expedia or Hotel Napoleon. The most concerning part is that if I hadn’t been persistent, I would have been charged twice with no recourse. Neither the hotel nor Expedia seemed to care about resolving the issue until I pushed for proof. If you choose to stay here, keep track of all your conversations and records—they may be the only thing preventing you from being unfairly charged. I can’t recommend a hotel that fails to uphold its word and offers such poor customer service.

The rooms are a bit small, but they are clean and modern. The staff is very friendly, especially Rocky, the coffee shop barista. Wonderful beverages available at the Coffee Shop/Bar. The building itself is a beautiful part of Memphis’ historic downtown architecture. Main Street and Beale Street are within easy walking distance. We highly recommend this as a great property.

We enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Napoleon. It’s conveniently located downtown so there’s lots of places to walk to. Staff was super friendly. We’ll definitely be back as I’m in Memphis often.

The lobby is being refurbished at this time. Lots of construction. The food available was therefore minimal. You may want to confirm the construction is completed before booking. The location is very good, just far enough from Beale St to avoid noise, but close enough to easily walk. We could also walk to Sun Records. The room was fine, though more lighting in the room would be appreciated. It was quite dark.

Needed a last minute, affordable stay and Hotel Napoleon hit the spot. Walkable to entertainment attractions - we caught a Grizzlies game on a whim - and the staff was great.

It was good but there was zero breakfast except muffins and juice. Not really acceptable with the price. Hard to park but room was nice, clean and comfortable!

Too dim in room. Regret there was no armchair in room. It wasn’t clear that there was no dining option on Sunday.
