The property has a lot going for it. Pros: luggage storage (great for red-eye flight arrivals) direct stop on bus routes (super convenient for airport transfers and tours) offers breakfast beginning at 7am coffee/tea/water 24/7 comfortable beds blackout curtains (great for midnight sun) manually set radiators some dinner options happy hour (good wines) parking (if you have a rental car) excellent shower water pressure and temperature about 10-20 minutes on foot from most things (great when weather is good) Cons: about 10-20 minutes away on foot from most things (not ideal when weather is bad) limited options on the dinner menu (the croque monsieur has no bechamel) glass bathroom door which does not adequately block the light from the bathroom window despite the pull down blind in the bathroom reversible do not disturb/make up room signs (mine got switched by an assumed good samaritan who thought I put it out the wrong way)

Great staff. The unlimited 24/7 coffee/tea was a life saver on cold days. The breakfast/dinner is a solid option when you are too tired to leave the hotel. Super clean, nicely decorated. I would stay here again.

Good place to base from in Reykjavik with good parking, onsite bar and breakfast. Hotel has no air conditioning, which most of the time isn't a problem but on warmer sunny days isn't ideal.

This is a quiet hotel and we found it great value. We had a room with a view of the harbor and mountains beyond. Hot complimentary coffee and tea were always available. We ate breakfast there several mornings- the buffet is lovely. It is an additional cost, but all of the food tasted homemade with a wide variety for a range of tastes. We did have dinner there a couple of times after a long day touring, and enjoyed Gull beer, a local draft quite a bit. The food was simple but tasty. There were a couple local restaurants nearby, but we didn't check them out, preferring to relax in the hotel after our long days touring. Although this is a few blocks away from the city center (tourist area), we met our tour busses at a bus stop nearby or they met us at the hotel itself. We easily walked over to the city center each day. Our room was on the small side, but comfortable for two. The staff are friendly, and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely recommend.

Our stay at Eyja was lovely. The rooms are chic and the beds are comfy, the bar area is adorable and the staff was helpful. My only complaints are that the gym was pretty lackluster (there’s really just yoga mats and a broken row machine) and the bar and restaurant close so early - I believe at 9? Having some food options other than chips for nights when we came in later would have been great!

Great property! Friendly staff. Coffee available. We didn’t eat breakfast but it smelled delicious. We rented a larger SUV for our car rental. The parking spaces are a little tight but we made it work. Recommend this place!

We stayed two nights in this hotel and absolutely loved it. The lovely ladies that checked us in were super friendly and accommodating. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had a nice view of the water. We didn’t try the breakfast, but it looked nice. We really enjoyed having the free coffee and tea at the front lobby. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

This was a very cute property with convenient parking. It was nice to have meal options on the property and the hotel was quiet with a greay view. The only issue we had was the bathroom. As others mentioned theirs not much privacy with the frosted glass door. The other annoyance was the shower has just a half glass wall which meant the area you enter was open and the floor was constantly wet. The sink also was an issue because it was a bowl so it was impossible to adequately wash your hands without either touching the bowl or spilling water on the counter. Bathroom aside i would use again.

I agree with the other reviewers rating Eyja Guldsmeden 8/10. What I liked about the property: Convenient parking out front and behind, although the parking spots are very narrow. Quiet neighborhood Next door to Bonus so you can buy some inexpensive food, drinks, and snacks for the day. It's a little bit of distance from downtown but totally walkable. There are lots of great restaurants and a food hall nearby. All of the tours we booked picked us up right at the hotel so we didn't need to walk to a nearby bus stop. What I didn't like: The rooms are smaller than they appear in the pictures. Our queen size bed took up most of the room with only a couple feet on each side. Things felt a little tight with our luggage in the room, and we had to utiliize the armoire and under the bed. The bathroom door is frosted glass which also has a small gap all the way around it. It was definitely a bit uncomfortable. Having a small fridge and microwave in the room would have made things a lot more convenient. The property is next door to Bonus for cheap food, but they open at 10 AM and most people will want to start their day earlier than that. I would have liked a way to keep things cold overnight, and heat them up later. I understand the hotel probably decided against having them because they offer breakfast, but options are nice. (And the breakfast seemed a bit expensive so we decided against it.)

Overall I did like this hotel. The free parking was a huge draw for me. The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable with nice bedding. Some drawbacks about this property was the location and noise. Location isn't walkable to sites or many restaurants. Every night the people beside me wede super noisy often until midnight.

Fantastic boutique hotel! The eco friendly vibe is really great, the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are well designed and decorated, nice view from window too. I think the only thing was that the rooms was the air circulation. Windows couldn't be opened so room was stuffy. I had to request for a fan to help with that. Other than that, my stay was great!

I enjoyed the friendliness of the staff. The room was comfortable for myself and well-kept. I read some comments about the location, that the hotel seems remote to some. That entire area of the city is walkable, and Laugavegur Street is only a couple of blocks away. That's where the entire walk towards the center of town begins with multiple shops that distract you while you do a 15-minute walk or so towards the harbor. I didn't find the hotel "remote," in other words, but I understand that it's not in the center of town, which was fine by me. The weather was perfect for walks. My only concern would be true of most of the hotels in this area, which is that none of them came with breakfast included but the approximately $30 fee wasn't unusually high if you compare prices at similar restaurants in Reykjavik. The city restaurants are pricey. I usually prefer for breakfast to be included. Other than this, I appreciated how the hotel coordinates well with the bus services that take one to excursions and to the airport.

Excellent stay! I was a solo traveler and it was great to stay here. There is an elegant sophistication yet awesome, chill vibe. The breakfast is phenomenal and kept me full through my adventurous days. The main area is inviting and comfortable. The staff are wonderful and always approachable for any need. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it for couples, friends, and families as well.

The entire experience at Eyja Guldsmeden Hotel was exceptional. ALL of the staff was friendly and smiling. They were attentive to our needs, went out of their way to provide excellent recommendations, show us maps, discuss local tips and even follow up with us at later times (without solicitation) about questions we'd asked that they didn't know the answer to. When I casually mentioned one morning to a team member at the front desk that we'd been out late celebrating my partner's birthday, we arrived to our room that evening to find a chilled bottle of champagne and a had written birthday card form the team. The was the epitome of a 5 Star stay and we will absolutely return to stay with Eyja again.

They were attentive to our needs, went out of their way to provide excellent recommendations, show us maps, discuss local tips and even follow up with us at later times (without solicitation) about questions we'd asked that they didn't know the answer to. When I casually mentioned one morning to a team member at the front desk that we'd been out late celebrating my partner's birthday, we arrived to our room that evening to find a chilled bottle of champagne and a had written birthday card form the team. The was the epitome of a 5 Star stay and we will absolutely return to stay with Eyja again.

Very friendly staff and incredibly accommodating after our flight was cancelled they went above and beyond to arrange a room for another night. They didn’t have to do this but made us feel very welcome and we very much enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend!

Room was spacious and clean. I requested a room with a view which was accommodated. The place was in an industrial area so be aware that you have to walk for 5-7 minutes until you get to the “main” area of town with restaurants and shops. The free parking is what did it for me. Breakfast should have been included at the price of the room.

Hotel was really removed from the town where most of the restaurants, shops and sites are located. Should have done a better job of researching. Pricing was competitive with luxury offerings and hotel was far from luxurious. Hotel photographs better than actual.

I really liked this hotel, starting with my arrival – 2.5 hours before check-in – when I found that my room was already available and I had been upgraded from a single room to a double.The location was easy to reach by car and parking was problem-free. Once I arrived, I did not use the car because the hotel was close enough by foot to many sights (e.g., 15 min. to Hallgrímskirkja, 20 min. to Lækjartorg in the heart of the business district). The room was tastefully furnished and very clean and quiet, despite being close to the elevator and facing the street. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I also appreciated the in-room safe, a wardrobe with ample storage, the many electrical outlets and good lighting (except for the area near the desk, where the task lighting could be improved). There were blackout drapes on the windows which would be essential during the middle of the summer. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast buffet (3590 ISK) was outstanding with organic eggs, local bacon and sausages, several excellent cheeses, great pastries and several Icelandic specialties such as rúgbrauð (rye bread), herring, skyr, etc., as well as standard items such as cereals, fruits, etc.

This was a beautiful boutique hotel that was in walking distance to city center with lots of pub and restaurant options. We easily found parking out front. The rooms were small but clean. The beds were comfortable and our view of the ocean and mountains were spectacular. The staff was friendly and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend this hotel.

I really enjoyed the aesthetic of this hotel. The lobby and accompanying coffee area and restaurant very cozy and has a diverse menu. The overall location of the hotel was also convenient to the downtown Reykjavík shops, museums, and restaurants.

The food was amazing and the mattresses and pillows some of the best I’ve slept on. The lounges and restaurant is so well decorated and gives such a relaxing spa like feel. I loved staying here. Will only stay here if I visit again

I stayed here for a long weekend getaway. All night flight brought me to the hotel by 830am. They checked me in and my room was ready. That was amazing. It was clean. And perfect size for me,I travel solo. It was walking distance to the lighthouse and the famous rainbow road. And there’s a small grocery store directly behind the hotel. They had a breakfast every morning that I think is terribly overpriced. I ate there once and had a pastry and some bacon. For $25. I did have dinner there one night and the food was good. There was a terrible storm and my tour was cancelled. Winds were 60 mph. So at dinner time I went downstairs for something to eat and they were closed. That was disappointing. I was starving and ended up ordering a pizza for delivery. I do not recommend their tour desk. Better to setup tours through Expedia,or My Guide. One of my tours- the bus had a plexiglass window that leaked water. And I paid for hotel pick up and drop off. They dropped me off on a main road 30 minute walk. In the snow. At night. And it was my first day there and I had no idea where I was going. The tour that was cancelled- took them 10 days to refund me. So, skip their tour desk options. I would stay there again. And recommend the hotel. Just find food elsewhere and don’t use their tour options

This is a quiet hotel and we found it great value. We had a room with a view of the harbor and mountains beyond. Hot complimentary coffee and tea were always available. We ate breakfast there several mornings- the buffet is lovely. It is an additional cost, but all of the food tasted homemade with a wide variety for a range of tastes. We did have dinner there a couple of times after a long day touring, and enjoyed Gull beer, a local draft quite a bit. The food was simple but tasty. There were a couple local restaurants nearby, but we didn't check them out, preferring to relax in the hotel after our long days touring. Although this is a few blocks away from the city center (tourist area), we met our tour busses at a bus stop nearby or they met us at the hotel itself. My only complaints are that the gym was pretty lackluster (there’s really just yoga mats and a broken row machine) and the bar and restaurant close so early - I believe at 9? Having some food options other than chips for nights when we came in later would have been great!

The hotel Eyja was very nice. Beds a little smaller than US sizes but worked out nicely. They have bikes to use for short excursions. Great spot for Flybus pickup and drop off.
