Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites South Padre Island by IHG

We stayed 8 days. The pool was awesome! Everything was kept clean with rooms even having the carpet cleaned between stays. Breakfast was a nice selection of food and new fresh ground coffee service was installed while we were there. I would absolutely stay here again!

We had a great stay! We came out to south Padre Island for a day at the beach. They allowed us to do early check-in, which is great. We enjoyed the hot tub and the swimming pool. We were also just a few minutes walk away from the beach front. We enjoyed a hot and delicious breakfast. I’ve never seen a pancake be made on a conveyor belt, but it was super cool to My Girls to watch it Be done. They had a variety of breads, sausage and cheese omelettes super yummy. We will definitely be back for another stay at Holiday Inn.

One of the two elevators was out of service. The working elevator needs to be fixed. It shudders and makes the worst noise. One is unsure if it is going to tumble to the bottom of the shaft or get stuck between floors. The fan in the bathroom did not work. Maid service was excellent. As always, the breakfast service was outstanding. The Front Desk workers were always helpful, cheerful and accommodating,

Both elevators were not working, had to take the stairs every single time to the 4th floor, it was a major inconvenience with all our stuff and a child. No refund, no credit, never let anyone know till the day of. Like I said it was a major inconvenience. They need to let their guests know of this before booking.

Great little walk to the beach. The pool was heated and the hot tub was super warm and relaxing after a long day playing. The staff was very warm and inviting. They treated us like family. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.

Pool has mold all around Elevator is broken

Room was spacious, quiet and clean. They have a nice pool, but a sign said the hot tub was out of order. public areas were also clean and looked nice. They have a free breakfast, but for me, it was nothing to brag about. Egg white omelets aren't my thing, the sausage links were sub par, their biscuits for biscuits and gravy are kept in a cooler (which is dumb), so you have to run them through a warmer which I did, but they were still cold, yet they keep cinnamon rolls in a warmer. All in all, it's a good clean place to stay.

It was a very good stay; staff was friendly and very professional. Room was very clean, and amenities were good. the only problem we encounter was that there was only one elevator working and you had to stand in line to go up or come down to the lobby

Big comfortable rooms with wonderful lighting options. The hotel smells horrible, it is very moldy. Our saving grace was bringing a portable air purifier that cleaned the air in our room enough to stop the asthma caused by walking through the common areas.

Roaches in the room. Notified the desk clerk at checkout. The clerk said, “we all have them at our house.” No we do not they are disease carriers. We own investment properties and we have no roaches and if they do appear we exterminate to rid them.

Overpriced for what you get. The bathroom was dirty and had mold spots. We made it a point to spend as little time as possible in our room. Breakfast is pretty basic/standard. We called the front desk and housekeeping a few times and no one ever answered. The entire place could use a good deep clean.

This hotel was not clean, there were roaches in the room. They were washing the carpet in a room a couple of doors down from our room and had the door open which made the entire hall smell like throw up.

We had guest above us that sounded like they were moving furniture, dropping things, jumping in the room. This happened all night long into early morning. We reported it but nothing happened. We had to get room door keys activated every day. Normally I don’t have concerns. But we left after our stay exhausted. We got no sleep.

Clean, modern hotel. Nice open lobby from entrance through breakfast area to pool. Well light parking with most spaces in front of hotel. Convenient elevators and stairs level 1-4. Spacious rooms.

It was a good stay, however the people above us were running around all night. Others slamming the door to exit the building. It was still great.

Great stay! We got a king room “leisure” and it was gigantic! Couch, love seat desk and chair. Plenty of room also love the mini fridge and microwave!

The shower was horrible.

Room was very nice and clean, bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms was roomy. Liked that everything in the room was modern. The coffee was great and good variety of food for breakfast. Close to the beach and didn't have to drive to it and the pool was very relaxing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

Breakfast was good. Elevators worked. A/C worked good. Comfortable bed Only problem was a slippery bathtub which contributed to a fall

It was noisy. The hotel is run down especially for the prices they charge. Staff is ok. Our last night there there was a fight in the room next door then they decided to fight in the hallway. Cops were called they bolted and did not answer the door. If you want a night of sleep do not go here. In the morning I handed back my keys and he was surprised and said when you come back I hope you won’t have that type of issue again. This was handled very poorly. No comps nothing. So I said no I don’t think I will ever come back. This hotel was so below the Holiday inn standards I am not sure how they are getting 10/10. Do not book here they really don’t care.

Great early check in wonderful staff.

Our overall experience at this hotel was good. The only downside was that my truck was hit in the parking lot by someone’s door — they were driving a blue vehicle, and it left blue marks on my white truck. Please be cautious in the parking area. Additionally, the front desk staff could be more welcoming and friendly.

Loved the easy accessibility of the property - beach right behind it! Super easy to find. Parking was a breeze. Clean. Amenities exactly as stated upon booking. I have to say, the morning staff was fantastic and I wished I had gotten their names because everything was great. However, the gentleman on the pm staff - well - we basically were told that we had to "deal with" the noise, disrespect, and flat out lack of common courtesy of the guests above us - on a Sunday at 1am and after, due to "the fact it is spring break" and that's too be expected. Now, we booked two queen sized rooms side by side and I've never been told on any stay anywhere else - that we should "handle the noise issues the way we see fit" - to be quite honest, that was definitely the turning point for us to not stay here again for our future visits to SPI. The way it comes off to those of us not obscenely drunken teens is that our money isn't good enough for you guys here at Holiday Inn. You can't tell me that there weren't other guests (with young kids and families) and those of us traveling as well, that aren't spring break teens who also didn't complain about the noise and rowdiness going on. I think it's being quite generous that we let other guests have their fun well into 1am but folks do need sleep. The security guard told us that literally, our entire side of the hotel continued to have complaints well into the early morning hours. We will stay elsewhere next time we come.

Great customer service

I chose the option to pay a deposit for the room at booking, and then pay the remainder at check in. Not sure what happened but the booking was processed without the deposit. Fast forward to the day of arrival, we could not make it to the hotel until the evening. I received a call from the hotel a couple of hours after I was supposed to check in letting me know that they ran my card for the full amount (this was pre check-in and I didn’t give permission to run my card for full amount pre check-in) and that the payment didn’t process (I hadn’t transferred funds yet, thought I was paying when I checked in). We settled on paying when I got to the hotel. At check in, I was told by reception that prior to the phone call, she was told by the manager to cancel my stay if I did not answer my phone the first time they called. This was after my family and I had traveled 13 hours by car to get to South Padre Island. Good thing I answered, otherwise we wouldn’t have had a place to stay. The exchange left me feeling less than valued as a paying customer. On top of that, there was a large wet spot by the air conditioner in our room that sunk into the floor and made the room smell badly. Told reception at check out and was offered no apology or anything. Would not stay here again.

Very clean. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Located across the street from the turtle rescue and the bird center. We had a lovely bay view. I would recommend this hotel to others.

Happy with our booking here and would rebook again. It's a little far from the main SPI areas, but the island isn't that big anyway and there's beach access from the hotel which is great.

Too many people entering and exiting in the area of my room. Left area sandy and slippery. The beach was not as close as l thought when reading the specs of the room.

This hotel is very convenient it is within walking distance to several places such as the SPI Birding center, the Turtle center and places to chill out Clayton's or Bar Louie.

We enjoyed our stay. Parking was a little tight but they were repairing parts of parking lot. Safe area to stay. A little away from the chaos of down town area.

Check-in was a breeze. Room was nice clean and exactly what we booked. Room was equipped with a microwave, fridge and mini coffee maker. Breakfast was good and they had a variety of things to choose from. Pancakes.’, omelettes, sausage links, cereal as well as a good assortment of pastries to choose from.

Wonderful stay! Great service! Very friendly staff! One and only downfall was breakfast was boring. They served almost the same thing everyday. If your staying because of the breakfast included, 7/10 would recommend. However if your staying because you want a safe clean hotel with friendly laid back staff, 10/10 would recommend!! We will definitely stay here again!
