The hotel is a wonderful oasis in Hakone, very quiet and serene. The rooms are comfy, it has a toilet, shower and an onsen. Theres also a public onsen which is beautiful and the restaurant is in both the main building and the annex. Theres free drinks at certain times, you use the yukatas provided, so many amenities. Great stay

Absolutely delightful hotel: helpful staff, clean, comfortable, huge room, wonderful food, free tea/coffee/alcohol whenever you like, japanese robe and towels included. The private onsen was so lovely - don’t be fooled by the photos, it was clean as a whistle, just stained by the minerals in the water. Absolutely enormous amount of all sorts of strange and delicious food for both dinner and breakfast. I’m staying in hostels pretty much every night of my holiday in Japan but wanted to spend one night having an affordable ryokan experience: this place was by far the cheapest in the Hakone area but I can’t see how it could have been better. Adding be put off by its location, it’s a short very easy bus ride from Lake Biwa; it’s also right next door to a 24 hour convenience store.

This was my first time staying in a ryokan and it did not disappoint. Loved the private onsen in the room and the traditional Japanese beds were surprisingly comfortable. The kaiseki meals were delicious and amazing! The meals are served in the restaurant, instead of in your room like more traditional ryokans, but was just as great of an experience. We used the nearby bus to get around to explore Hakone. Highly recommend staying at Susukinohara Ichinoyu!

A beautiful ryokan in a secluded area but essily accessible by bus. Family mart is next door. Wonderful amenities, the most elaborate dinner and breakfast packages (if you want to try a traditional Japanese meal, THIS is it!), wonderful private onsen in room and friendly staff. Highly recommend. You will not regret your visit.

A very cute and affordable ryokan in the highly popular Hakone hot springs area. The room was styled in traditional Japanese decor, with vaulted ceilings and tatami flooring. Futon beds and small seating area gives the feel of a traditional ryokan with the modern amenities like TV and bidet toilets. The best part of this place is the private onsen in the room! We used this multiple times during our one-night stay and relaxed in the hot water while sipping green tea. The ryokan also provides a delicious kaiseki dinner and breakfast, which we highly enjoyed! A great value for your money.

Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit privatem Onsen. Die Zimmer waren geräumig (auch zu dritt machbar) und der private Onsenbereich einfach richtig toll! Man kann den allgemeinen Onsen zusätzlich nutzen. Das Essen (Frühstück und Abendbrot) war sehr reichhaltig und traditionell japanisch. Wer also keinen Fisch mag, sollte zwei Tage vorher ein vegetarisches Menü bestellen. Es gibt zu jeder Mahlzeit eine kleine Anleitung, wie man diese einnehmen kann - das ist besonders für Besucher, die mit der japanischen Kultur nicht vertraut sind, sehr hilfreich. Das Personal war durchgehend sehr freundlich, umsichtig und professionell. Die Anbindung per Bus ist etwas undurchsichtig. Das Hotel befindet sich etwas abseits der zentraler gelegenen Hotels. Man muss sich vorab etwas mit den Fahrplänen beschäftigen und dann klappt das. Wir haben einen Tag gebraucht, um alles zu durchblicken ;-) Man sollte sich hier wirklich auf die lokalen Flyer und Fahrpläne stützen (Google Maps und Apple Maps half hier nicht so gut, wie in anderen Gebieten Japans). Wir können das Hotel mit den Zimmern mit dem privaten Onsen wirklich sehr empfehlen. Besonders nach dem Abendbrot (was sehr viel und reichhaltig war) war es toll, den privaten Onsen nutzen zu können und nicht noch mal Richtung Haupthaus in den großen Onsen gehen zu müssen.

Great Japanese style Inn with private hot tub. Service is great. Location is great to catch bus. There is a bus stop right in front of this hotel. Family mart next door. 30 mins bus to Hakone train station. We had half board meal and food was great too. There is free pop and ice cream bar in front of public bath. Good value at this price.

Family Mart next to the hotel was very convenient. Nothing else nearby in terms of shopping or restaurants. The private onsen was wonderful as were the public ones. Very clean facility. Kaiseki BF and dinner was really good! Service fantastic.

I told the hotel in advance I was vegetarian and I was incredibly well accommodated. The meals were vegetarian, well presented, diverse and delicious. Lots of new Japanese food experiences. The rooms are large and relatively clean, the futon beds weren’t very comfortable (but no futons really are) and the staff were all exceptionally helpful.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel/ryokan, it has clean and spacious room with private onsen. There is a Family Mart right beside it which is great. The other dining options nearby are about 20min walk away, so it will be better to drive. The hotel does offer dinner at it's restaurant but you need to reserve before 7pm the day before you want to dine there. We took the option with breakfast which is the usual Japanese spread with seasonal fish. Will stay here again for sure.

We stayed for 2 nights after being in cities for a week and was just what we needed. The Onsen in the room was amazing and the large room was a dream to relax in. With a family mart around the corner helped for late night snacks too.

One of my best experience ever. Great hotel, private bath was amazing. Staffs were helpful. Food was amazing, great location especially if you have a car. Room was spacious and comfortable. Highly recommended.

The location is very convenient via bus line and is beautiful. The hotel is traditional with tatami mats and futons. Food in the restaurant is also traditional. It’s good but not great and we found a really extraordinary restaurant down the hill. I expected trash service between the two days, which was kind of a big deal for our family. It was a great adventure, nice people, just maybe not totally for us.

Das traditionell eingerichtete Zimmer hatte nur sehr dünne Futons und sehr harte Kissen - das muss man gewöhnt sein, wir haben schlecht geschlafen. Unser Zimmer lag zur Straße, es war recht laut. Die Klimaanlage ist am Boden installiert, d.h., es ist an den Füßen kalt und im Rest des Zimmers warm. Es gab keinerlei Haken oder Stangen, um z.B. Handtücher oder Jacken aufzuhängen. Das Essen findet zu festgelegten Zeiten statt - für uns war das sehr früh, 17.45 für das Abendessen. Es bestand aus vielen verschiedenen Speisen und war hauptsächlich lecker und frisch. The staff was not shy of attempting to utilize English while helping foreign visitors, which was a great help when my Japanese couldn't help. The staff working in the restaurant, both during breakfast and dinner, were incredibly helpful, kind, and forthcoming when trying to converse. The homely feel of the room could be felt by these staff members, making the stay feel cozy throughout. Not only was the staff kind, but the elegance and taste of the food elevated the experience by miles. Thank you so much for the experience.

We were a party of eight with two seniors and two young kids and all of us enjoyed our stay. The stay was very comfortable and the seafood dinner and Japanese breakfast were both excellent. We would definitely return. Staff were great and super helpful.

Everyone was so kind, from the front desk employees to the dining staff. They put all of my nerves about experiencing a new culture to rest. I was nervous because it was my first time wearing a yukata, and eating a multi-course traditional Japanese meal. The servers especially were very encouraging and helpful, as I had a new question just about every time they walked by. A lot of the food was new to me, and it was absolutely delicious. I would recommend this hotel over and over again, and I will be returning.

Susukinohara Ichinoyu was a lovely treat for us! Hakone was so different from the frenetic energy in Tokyo. There were many other resorts in the area, but were unable to accommodate our group of 17. Our ryokan was so peaceful and serene and the private room Onsen for each family was the icing on top. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The property is conveniently located next to a Family Mart where we were able to buy snacks and drinks before heading out for the day. We had a wonderful time and look forward to staying again the future. Arigato gozaimasu!

出張帰り途中のワーケーションにと、何とは無しに予約。予定より早く到着し、手持ち不沙汰だったが、副店長の名札を付けた外国人スタッフの方とお話しすると、源泉を2ヶ所から引いており、大浴場はその両方を楽しめるとのこと。更に「良かったら入れます」との案内で、お言葉に甘え入らせていただき、チェックイン前に温泉を堪能。その後もスタッフの皆さんの気持ちの良い挨拶、都内だと15000円から18,000円位するで有ろう夕食、5000円位はするで有ろう朝食など、どんな経営努力をすればこの様な良質なサービスを提供出来るのかに興味が湧きました。また近年の外国人スタッフによる日本品質のサービスの低下もこちらでは一切無く、むしろ日本で働いて下さりありがとうございますと、言いたい位です。 これからも機会が有れば泊まらせて頂きます。

Family Mart next to the hotel was very convenient. Nothing else nearby in terms of shopping or restaurants. The private onsen was wonderful as were the public ones. Very clean facility. Kaiseki BF and dinner was really good! Service fantastic.

El Riokan está bien. Demasiado alejado de todo y con difícil transportación. No me parece una buena opción si vienes por solo una noche a Hakone y quieres conocer todo. Mejor hospedarte en la zona de Gora. Hay una tiendita de conveniencia a un lado por si no aguantas la comida tradicional japonesa que sirven en el Riokan.

A beautiful ryokan in a secluded area but essily accessible by bus. Family mart is next door. Wonderful amenities, the most elaborate dinner and breakfast packages (if you want to try a traditional Japanese meal, THIS is it!), wonderful private onsen in room and friendly staff. Great Japanese style Inn with private hot tub. Service is great. Location is great to catch bus. There is a bus stop right in front of this hotel. Family mart next door. 30 mins bus to Hakone train station. We had half board meal and food was great too. There is free pop and ice cream bar in front of public bath. Good value at this price.

Absolutely delightful hotel: helpful staff, clean, comfortable, huge room, wonderful food, free tea/coffee/alcohol whenever you like, japanese robe and towels included. The private onsen was so lovely - don’t be fooled by the photos, it was clean as a whistle, just stained by the minerals in the water. Absolutely enormous amount of all sorts of strange and delicious food for both dinner and breakfast. I’m staying in hostels pretty much every night of my holiday in Japan but wanted to spend one night having an affordable ryokan experience: this place was by far the cheapest in the Hakone area but I can’t see how it could have been better. Adding be put off by its location, it’s a short very easy bus ride from Lake Biwa; it’s also right next door to a 24 hour convenience store.

This was my first time staying in a ryokan and it did not disappoint. Loved the private onsen in the room and the traditional Japanese beds were surprisingly comfortable. The kaiseki meals were delicious and amazing! The meals are served in the restaurant, instead of in your room like more traditional ryokans, but was just as great of an experience. We used the nearby bus to get around to explore Hakone. Highly recommend staying at Susukinohara Ichinoyu!

The fish was over cooked for dinner. That was the only concern. Everything else was excellent. Breakfast was delicious. The in room onsen was fabulous. It felt so good in the crisp open air. Awesome, i wish I'd done this some 5 to10 years ago. The crowds of tourists were unbelievable. .

Besonders nach dem Abendbrot (was sehr viel und reichhaltig war) war es toll, den privaten Onsen nutzen zu können und nicht noch mal Richtung Haupthaus in den großen Onsen gehen zu müssen.

Super nice place. The included dinner was fantastic, i wasnt as big a fan of the breakfast but it was great too. Highly recommend a room with a private bath. The aesthetic of the rooms is incredible. Highly reccomend

This was an amazing stay. The room was immaculate and clean. All amenities were in perfect working order. The food was top tier. The bus stop was right next to the building. I highly recommend checking it out if you plan on visiting Hakone.

This was the best place I stayed on my recent Japan trip. If you're doing "The Hakone Loop", you might miss it, as if you catch the ship to Motohakone on Lake Ashi you will end up a while away. But! The staff here are lovely, the onsens are amazing, the dinner is phenomenal (and unbelievably huge), the rooms have a lovely atmosphere and are so comfortable, there's a bar with unlimited free drinks, and it's easily accessible via the Hakone Tozan Bus. It's right next to a convenience store too, if that's important to you. I'll remember my stay here for a long time!
