Occidental Costa Cancún - All Inclusive

I enjoyed my stay at the Occidental Costa Cancun despite a few problems which the staff attemped to address. Initially, I was allocated a room oppisite the pool and large speakers and I knew on arrival that this would not suit me as I prefer a quiet room away from loud music. With a little discussion, I was allocated another seaview room by a very nice suoervisor in a quiet part of the hotel. The location was perfect, the seaview was lovely but as I enteted the room, I noticed a smell of drains! particularly at the entrance. Staff sent someone to sort the problem out. They checked the shower drain, but the smell persisted up to my last day, today. I was a bit disappointed as this trip was a special treat to myself for a special birthday and I wanted everything to be perfect. Unfortunately it was not. Please sort out this problem in rolm 558 for the benefit of other guests and the hotels reputation. There were some good points however, the staff were always very helpful and polite , and the food was generally very tasty, with a good variety and the drinks are of good quality. The beach is small but sufficient, and there was generally a nice atmosphere in the hotel. There were also a range of activities on each day, snd evening shows which were ok.

Overall the resort was great, staff was nice and attentive. Great place for kids. Rooms that connect to other rooms lack some privacy because you can hear through the door. Also, be sure to not be above the lobby if you are worried about noise from performances.
