As a couple, we have stayed twice at the Grand Fifty Suites. The building and it's rooms are spacious and clean. The kitchenette is handy for longer stays with full sized refrigerator, hotplate, microwave, blender and toaster. Staff at the front desk are courteous and helpful. Rafael is a real gem. Cleaning staff do a wonderful job of keeping the Grand Fifty Suites spotless. Location is great! Close enough to beaches and 5th Avenue but also fairly quiet at night. Boasts a lovely rooftop with pools, plenty of seating and beds. Wifi was decent (occasionally spotty in room) We really enjoyed our stays here and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Checkin was slow. I booked a four people room for two adults and two kids. Somehow they told me that it showed as two adults and the front desk asks me to pay for each kid but the room was booked for 4 people and there was no extra service for kids. Even I said I would check in later because the family was waiting me for dinner. The frontdesk guy said no, I had to pay now. So I paid the peso and asked for receipt, but I waited another 15 min and did not get the receipt. They never gave me the receipt. The parking space is very small, they limited the space to those which are very hard for parking. Be careful on scratch and at least 10 min to park and get out. One day, the room was cleaned but the bathroom was not. I had to change the bathroom floor towel myselves.

Great stay, the aparthotel was just a little dated with some bits needing a refresh. All clean and tidy and the pool area is nice. Would have been great if the bar was open up there as well! Gym has a good amount of machines and weights as well.

Everything was great. We would definitely go back. The only issue we had was that we were not communicated re: pool towels until we heard this from other hotel guests. Also it would be nice if there is an option to rent beach chairs & umbrella with minimal fees.

Good location, near to restaurants, convenience stores and beaches. Hotel has private parking and pool. Nice view to the sea from the terrace. Excellent service from Guillermo, Luis and Rafael. Room was cleaned. To improve: coffee. I would add a coffee vending machine for all guest in the lobby. This way we can prepare it ourselves, and have it hot and fresh. Gracias. Disfrutamos el tiempo q nos alojamos alli!

Room was spacious and comfortable with a functional kitchenette. The staff was an absolute dream! Super friendly and accommodating. Location was perfect as well. Quiet, but within short walking distance to many amazing restraunts, shopping, and pristine beach. Rooftop pool was also gorgeous and clean. Will be booking here again in the future.

This isn't a great or even a good hotel. It's almost just ok. The word I would use to describe the building, management, and service is indifference. On the positive side of things, the roof top pool area is nice and there is ample space in the room. However, the room is not very clean. Also, the bedding and towels are old. Wifi didn't work when we arrived and once we ourselves eventually fixed it, it was super slow. One of the occupants of our room didn't have a pillow for 4 nights because the "hotel was out of pillows" and they just shrugged and said they couldn't do anything. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

This place was so perfect for our stay. It was like home away from home. Very clean, convenient, friendly staff, and close by to everything (beach included). The pool was clean, the rooms are spacious, all needed kitchenware are available. I am definitely staying there again

Having a flood in, the powder room and the bedroom when you are already sick as a dog. Inform the staff who don't care about your accent as well as your Spanish and your problemsSo. This place wasn’t the best. There was a sewage smell coming from the sink, and the freezer never worked from day one—no one fixed it until the fifth day, just as we were leaving. Driving up the area surrounding was run down and made us nervous. A lot of crumbling buildings and construction. Checked in around 7 pm and the manager said- sorry you can't go to the room we have a problem and they are working on the air conditioner. We waited a few hours and then went to the room. We also were told there was no parking and then the man behind us came and asked where to park I asked why he could get a spot and we couldnt and then the hotel guy changed and told us they did have parking. Was very unpleasant check in. Place was decently quiet at night and you can hear birds when you wake. Sadly the air conditioner only worked for 2 nights and we had a sweltering next 2 nights. Not ideal with the heat and humidity. Pool was ok. They make you wear a super annoying arm band.

Excellent location good customer service. Big room with two queen beds and sofa. Kitchen with stove, microwave, coffee maker. A lot of space to store luggage and hang your clothes. Wi-Fi fast enough. Beach about 7 min walk. Will come back again.

The first room was horrible. The only windows faced the reception area, so there was no natural light at all. The guy at the reception was also an idiot—he constantly gave us false information about the Wi-Fi, parking, and the possibility of getting another room with natural light, yet somehow everything was our fault. However, the lady at the reception was very helpful. Be careful when booking a room—two-bedroom rooms have no windows to the outside at all. The new room we got was good.

Great location! Less than a block from 5th Avenue with wonderful shops and restaurants. 5 minute walk to the beach. Staff was nice and friendly. Rooms were ok but could use a deep clean. WIFI was not the best. Linens, pillows and towels not great. Roof top deck was nice. Pool was fine. I did not like having to wear a wrist bracelet to show that I stayed there as it is a signal to others that I am a tourist. I booked off season which made this a good value. Not sure if I'd pay more during high season.

You get what you pay for. Customer service at the reception is not the best. Raphael is rude as well as the lady. During my 6 day stay, I witnessed several encounters with upset customers. My reservation was for a suite with two rooms and without previous notice at check in they handed me the key for a room with two beds. When I told him about the confusion, his answer was to call Expedia although my reservation was very specific. After a while he gave me the key of a two room suite. The suite was very hot and humid specially at night. Close to restaurants and bars

Wonderful stay. I stay here often as well. Lots of great restaurants in the area like Tropical Tacos.. walking distance to everything, and extremely quiet being so close to the 5th avenue. Highly recommended as the service on the property is genuine and friendly. From the housekeepers to the front desk to management. Thanks for a great stay!

Checkin was slow. I booked a four people room for two adults and two kids. Somehow they told me that it showed as two adults and the front desk asks me to pay for each kid but the room was booked for 4 people and there was no extra service for kids. Even I said I would check in later because the family was waiting me for dinner. The frontdesk guy said no, I had to pay now. So I paid the peso and asked for receipt, but I waited another 15 min and did not get the receipt. They never gave me the receipt. The parking space is very small, they limited the space to those which are very hard for parking. Be careful on scratch and at least 10 min to park and get out. One day, the room was cleaned but the bathroom was not. I had to change the bathroom floor towel myselves.

I’ll not stay here again. From the beginning, Slow check, they charged me a fee which I asked to be paid with card and is one of those hotels who ask you to stay before sending someone to check your room. I’ll not stay here again.

The only pro was the closness to the beach. There’s no such a thing about feeling welcomed when checking in, Rafael the man at the front desk at night is not a very pleasant or friendly receptionist, I said hello to him and he held his hand to “shush” me because he was busy. Instead of kindly acknowledge me and request to hold of a moment in a professional manner. He charged me 300 pesos for an extra night for a guest when in the website it clearly says 11.00 cad . The service was below average, he was rude. The beds were ok. Cleaning staff did an incredible job taking care of our room, we were beyond happy leaving a gratuity for her. The front desk was often left unattended. There are so many hotel gems out there that cost less and the service is marvellous. Will definitely not be returning to this place again. I often come to Playa del Carmen and wanted to try something different, this place was definitely the one with the worst guest experience

Everything was good The location, and the room was nicely laid out but we had construction outside our window a jackhammer going at 9:00 a.m. in the morning sometimes all day. And the pool was a little cold for some reason. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They offered to change our room but we decided to keep it since we were out most of the day.

Excellent location good customer service. Big room with two queen beds and sofa. Kitchen with stove, microwave, coffee maker. A lot of space to store luggage and hang your clothes. Wi-Fi fast enough. Beach about 7 min walk. Will come back again.

Je viens souvent à cet hôtel, ainsi que mes amis. Très convenable, qualité/prix. Un peu bruyant le jour à cause de la construction de condos autour. Malheureusement il n’y a plus de resto offrant petit déjeuner. Attention les prix du café, du petit dej, des restos, des boissons etc a beaucoup augmenté à Playa. Heureusement qu’il y a une cuisine ici, mais elle n’est pas très bien équipée. Personnel très gentil. Je recommande, malgré tout cet hôtel et j’y reviendrai sûrement.

Property was clean and room was clean. We booked a 2 bedroom suite with a living room. The room we were given had 2 “bedrooms” and a kitchen with a table. We didn’t have a couch. Pretty sure we didn’t get the room we booked. Staff was friendly and tried to help. The area around the hotel felt pretty unsafe. I would not book here. Plenty of other places in better areas to choose from.

El hotel en general está muy bien, económico, cerca de la quinta pero suficientemente retirado para no estuchar todo el ruido nocturno. Muy buen desayuno disponible por $100 por persona 👌. Lo que no nos gustó nada fue el olor a humedad de las habitaciones y de las almohadas, imagino que es un problema general al ser un hotel de playa por Tanta ropa mojada. Deberían cambiar sus almohadas y ponerles fundas protectoras contra la humedad, sí nos estuvieron cambiando las fundas diario. Tal vez buscar cambio de habitación si eso pasa y recomendar a hotel ventilar las habitaciones, pero en general está limpio y muy bien.

No coffee in the rooms. We had to take the elevator down four floors every morning to the lobby for a coffee urn that was often empty. One time we were chastised for using too large of coffee mugs! We experienced no running water for two days in total and power outages. We usually were treated with indifference and apathy by the Raphael when we approached him with issues. The kitchenettes were very poorly provisioned with utensils, dishes and cookware. The rooms were nice, the cleaners and others at the front desk were pleasant and the top deck pool was awesome!

Great stay, the aparthotel was just a little dated with some bits needing a refresh. All clean and tidy and the pool area is nice. Would have been great if the bar was open up there as well! Gym has a good amount of machines and weights as well.

Good location, near to restaurants, convenience stores and beaches. Hotel has private parking and pool. Nice view to the sea from the terrace. Excellent service from Guillermo, Luis and Rafael. Room was cleaned. To improve: coffee. I would add a coffee vending machine for all guest in the lobby. This way we can prepare it ourselves, and have it hot and fresh. Gracias. Hotel 50 suites is a very lovely, from the hotel lobby to the roof top. Close to a great beach. Right off 5th Ave. I especially appreciate the tea & coffee station in the fabulous Lobby. Thank you to Luis who went above and beyond to make my room changes bearable. This hotel is Easily my top pick for good value and convenience.

The room got cleaned and replenished every single day by the housekeepers. Which was great and front desk staff were servicing and courteous. Also we were at 4th floor as requested and the view in the balcony was really nice and the views at the pool at the rooftop!!!
