Really disappointed with our stay. The hotel is not as advertised and is badly in need of a refurb. The overall maintenance is shockingly poor. Around the pool, large sections of the wooden decking are lifting, warped and in some cases completely broken. Entire planks move when you step on them, which is both dangerous and clearly not acceptable for a hotel at this price point. The same issue existed on our balcony where the flooring was also lifting. The bathrooms by the pool had no hand soap on more than one occasion, not acceptable when food is being served up there. Inside the room the shower floor had a large broken tile underfoot, and the rainfall shower had virtually no water pressure, making it barely usable. The room itself was very white and plain, tired and did not resemble the photos online in any way. Overall it felt worn, poorly maintained and quite shabby. To add insult to injury, I got locked inside the gym! I was using my key card to attempt to exit (the same way as you enter) but it did not work to release the door, leaving me unable to get out and with no staff or other guests around to help. It took time to get someone’s attention, and when I finally did, there was no apology, instead they insisted on telling me how I 'should' have unlocked it. Rather than just putting up a sign to show the correct process! Overall a very frustrating experience and wish we'd stayed elsewhere. I will also be posting this review on Google with photos.

This hotel overall was great: location is fantastic, the rooftop pool is amazing, staff are very friendly and helpful! The buffet breakfast was lovely too, a good selection of food & drinks. The food in the restaurant in the rooftop was also lovely - the shrimp tacos were a real highlight! Generally had a great stay. Two things that I took into account when giving 4 stars instead or 5: a small bottle of water (not even 500ml) in the restaurant in the rooftop costs around £4 which feels extortionate. Secondly, we booked a “courtyard view” room, however we’re placed in a room on the ground floor behind the lifts which meant we had no view, a window we couldn’t open and a generally dark room that smelled damp. When we asked it we could change our room, we were told they’d get back to us, which they didn’t. When we followed up, they said they couldn’t move us. We felt like the room, although spacious, wasn’t great - and it’s a shame customer service wasn’t the best on this point when we raised it.

Stayed 2 nights

The Fives hotel I’m sure used to be nice but it’s not being maintained well. For example, stains and scratches on all the furniture and flooring, peeling wall coverings. Not just in the room but throughout the hotel. I wish I had thought to take a picture of the 2nd fold out bed. It was ancient and sagging and no one could sleep on it. But it did make a nice place to lay out my suitcases. The room had a kitchen but no dishes or silverware or barware or anything. I went to the front desk to ask for two wine glasses and the said they could not provide them to me. I found out on the last night that for an extra $25 you could get plates and glasses and stuff. I had difficulty finding seating in the pool area and it was nearly impossible to get staff attention to help me out. Towels were left on the lounge chairs and no one kept track of whether the chairs were occupied or not. However, the location is great and the food and drinks were excellent. I had shrimp tacos and they among the best I ever had. I also had a cucumber margarita and it was really good. The buffet for breakfast was not appealing. I ordered avocado toast from the menu with a poached egg and again, very, very good. I would hang out there for happy hour but probably not stay there again.
