Moolack Shores Inn

Very quirky property, but the location can't be beat for the price. It was a quick walk down the property stairs (~50) to get onto the beach where we could wander for hours during the super low tide. Exceptionally clean. Nice to have a kitchen. Bed was comfy but noisy (very thick tarp like mattress cover). Electric fireplace seemed like a nice touch but didn't work after about 60 seconds, despite numerous resets. All in all would stay again purely for the beach access.

Incredibly great value on the oceans' edge, near Newport and Nye Beach. Great outdoor area with fire pit and bbq. Private steps to a beautiful beach with very few people. Quiet. Well appointed, comfy bed, great wifi and tv options. Super clean and quiet. Great views. Lovely caretakers. Best deal to stay at the coast!

Was a super cute place to stay, very friendly staff, room was clean and nice. Only issue is parking, not meant for full size pickups.

This was a great place right in the ocean. Friendly staff with easy check in and out. The room was a bit outdated and worn but very clean and comfortable. The only issue we had was that WiFi never worked. All in all it was a good stay and I would recommend.

We got room 4 which was decorated like a cowboy cabin. It was cozy and fun. Great view. Largish room. Small kitchen is nice to have. The floor is not level, but this place is probably 60-70 years old. Easy parking. Quiet. Couldn't hear the highway even though it's close by. Franklin stove and presto log provided, which was really cool.

Pros: The staff were friendly and the check-in process was easy. The rooms were different themes and decorated to be cozy and inviting. The beach access was great. It's nice supporting a local business. Cons: When we first entered the room, housekeeping left our window open, which allowed quite a few flies and gnats to enter the room. I'm assuming this is normal because there was a fly swatter by the window. A huge bee or hornet entered our room in the middle of the night. I am not sure how the bee entered the room, but while looking around I found several small holes and places insects could easily enter/exit. Lastly, the parking lot isn't the cleanest or easiest to enter and exit. The surface is gravel and when I first arrived, I was parked beside dog poop. The second time I parked, I was beside a rusty pair of scissors. I also left the parking lot with a puncture in my tire and based on the timing, it seems it occurred in the parking lot. Summary: Overall, I think this room was fairly over-priced based on the property conditions but this is a town fueled by tourism. I would not stay here again but it may be a good fit for other people.

Super nice. Close to the beach. Pet friendly but the pet fee was expensive. $75!? Rooms were comfy.

Nice quiet beach, room was quiet, bed was comfortable, fireplace and kitchenette are fine (although not setup for any kind of big meal or cooking). Clean and had great ocean views. Older and not very updated but everything worked well. Does not have amenities like on site restaurant, pool, hot tub. Friendly and helpful staff.

Clean and quiet old time small motel directly on the beach. Room is small and comfy for me and my dog. Just a great place to relax and enjoy the spectacular view. Just north of Newport. Staff friendly and accommodating.

We have been going there for over 20 years. But this was our last time. It was dirty and not enough hot water for two showers. They used to have really comfortable beds, now they are rock hard. And no blankets just a regular bedspread. The view and beach access is absolutly beautiful. Sorry so dissappointed, they had rats the visit before,chewed up one of my slippers and one of my husbands.

Peggy was really friendly! The room smell and was super clean! The view perfect! The only down side the stove top didn’t quite heat up enough but other than that it was amazing! Will definitely book with them again!

I loved the view! And super easy access to the beach. Quiet, secluded even tho it was just off the highway. And quaint. The bed was super comfy, the small kitchen was perfect for a couple meals. The overall cleanliness could have been better. The counters were sticky, the floor could have been mopped. And it smelled kind of funny. But would definitely stay again!

So appalling to stay where the conditions were so bad, had an oceanfront room but couldn’t see out the windows because they are so old and filmy/filthy. Part of the door trim was missing, the bathroom sink has 50 year old gouges and cracks, there’s no way it can be kept sanitary. The toilet dropped and ran all the time. I discovered gross stuff on the pillows ( old drool, other 😳?). The corners and around windows (sills) and under the bed were dirty! Looked like months of accumulation.

The toilet water tank leaking noise kept us awake all night and the toilet seat cover is defective not being able to stay opened, the artificial fragrance plug-in air refresher caused headaches even unplugged with all the doors open to clear the air, it’s strong chemical odor into linens as well the internet was down during overnight but the view was spectacular!

We loved everything about this place. Check in was easy, staff was great, location was fantastic, and the property was ADORABLE AND COMFY. Just what I needed to a quick getaway.

Cute and cozy. One of the lamps didn't work, not a big deal. The fireplace was fantastic!! Definitely needs some updating, particularly the bathroom. Still super cute!

The unit was newly remodeled and the ocean view was great.

The room was clean but a bit smaller then i expected from pictures online. The staff was great. The beach was close but you had a very long step stairway to go down to get there. The bottom of the steps was a long drop. It was a nice quiet hotel and worth the cost.

The property is outdated. The bathroom’s sink and toilet leak and aren’t secured to the floor. There’s no A/C so during the day it gets really hot. The view is beautiful and you’re only 51 steps down to the beach. That’s the only pro we could find. Owner needs to invest in fixing the rooms for sure..

Stayed in room 8 of Moolack Shores Inn. It is on the bottom level of the north corner of the inn. It had a great view of north Moolack beach and Otter Rock. Only downfall is that it is on the shady side of the building if you want sun. There is a nice lawn area though on the other side of the property with a couple chairs that we were able to sit out and get some sun. It could sleep 4 with the two bunk style beds but feel like that would push the limits of space for this 400 square foot room. Felt like plenty of room for me and my wife and the bunks were a perfect place for us to store our stuff. Staff was super friendly and would totally stay here again.

A charming comfortable room with every amenity you can think of. Vaulted ceiling, balcony, keurig machine with very generous coffee supplies! There’s a definite 70’s vibe without being rundown. I was very pleasantly surprised and delighted.

Property is right on the beach. Views are fantastic. Room was big and nicely decorated. Also room was well stocked with plates, mugs and paper cups, wine glasses. Owner was very nice and proactively contacted us with instructions for late check in. The only downside, that was the squeakiest bed I ever slept. It wood squeak with any movement. But we enjoyed our one night stay. Location is fantastic

We arrived at hotel anout 15 minutes after making reservation only to find out they had closed and hour and a half earlier. There were no after hour instructions to be found. Unable to check-in and obtain key. Had to find accommodations elsewhere. 😔

This hotel has great location. But the staff at the hotel are hard to contact for any issues. I had issues with the electricity going off completely & I could not find the staff to help me. After asking a nice couple in the room to help me, the staff finally came to solve the issue. After that I thought I would watch TV but the TV would not work. They have a lot of cheap stuff filling up the room but they need to focus on the main issues with facilities working in the room for the guest.

When we arrived our key was not in the door and it was locked. Per instructions I called Peggy. She came right over and found someone went into our room. She offered the room next door but me knees are bad and the shower was cumbersome. She gave us an upgrade to full ocean view and I've never been happier with a mix up. The sunset was right in front of us on our deck! Great place to stay.

This is a hidden gem on the coast. If you like waking to the sound a waves on the sand and walking on a semi private the beach then this is a must stay. The beach is just down the steps from your room basically. Yes the property is older, but the staff keeps the rooms clean and updated and honestly the real beauty is the ocean. We were not in the very cute themed rooms much since the ocean, hikes, and whales called to our adventure. We extended our stay because it was so nice. We had the safari room then the whale room. Both had their own charms, but we loved the whole ocean view the best. It's a short 5 min drive to Newport for food, shopping, tourist stuff or 10 min to Depot Bay for tourist stuff and whale watching. The staff was wonderful and so nice.

Property manager was wonderful and room was just what I needed. Only thing I’d suggest is a 11am check out instead of 10am.

Even though we arrived late and left early we thought it was a wonderful hotel, and the in-room facilities were great. The only problem was that staff is not onsite during the night. We didn't need them - they've got the problem of late arrivals figured out - but it would have been nice to have someone there. Nonetheless, we'd happily stay there again!

Peggy was great, the views were amazing, and I loved how detailed and beautiful the room was!

Lack of lighting for the motel sign, it gets very dark early this time of year upon return I drove right by because I couldn't tell where the driveway was located. Parking was a bit tight. Those are minor issues because the property itself is fabulous, wonderful beach access, motel has excellent beach and sunset views. I stayed here four nights, I wish I would have had a few more days.

Quirky little place right on the beach. This older property has been updated nicely. A little remote which was all right with us.

We loved our little getaway at Moolack. Beautiful view of the ocean from the balcony and cute little room with armor decoration. I believe the room was called the Camelot room. Very cozy and quiet and away from the cities but close enough to get to them. It’s right off of 101 between Depoe bay and Newport. The hotel has its own private access to the beach. We plan on returning in the future. Highly recommend!

This hidden gem was amazing. If we pass by this way again we will definitely try to stay here again! I was looking for a room with a nice ocean view since this was kind of a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I came across this and said "why not?" Best decision I could have made. When you pull up in the parking lot, it doesn't seem that impressive. When we went into the room, that's where the establishment shines. The room was cozy and comfortable. It had everything you could possibly think of on hand. The view was so breathtaking. It was a bit chilly outside when we arrived, but that didn’t stop us from sitting out on the porch and watching the waves and the sunset. We just had the temp set indoors so we were nice and warm once we came in. It was an easy drive to find food. It was a great location to explore more of the Coast. I just wish we had more time to spend here because there was so much to see and do. The room itself was quiet. We didn’t hear much noise from neighbors and the place seemed full. We were very sad to leave. We had a really nice chat with the proprietor when we were checking out. It's nice to feel like you spent your money wisely and staying here accomplished that for sure. My only complaint was the fact that sand follows you everywhere after you've been walking in it. I think we're still finding it and we've been home for over a month! It was easy access to the beach, so the sand is entirely on us... In short, great place to stay. No regrets!

So cute and so awesome to stay right on the beach. Fun to stay in a theme room. We loved sitting on the deck overlooking the beach. Loved the easy beach access to a very quiet beach. We appreciated that it was close to Newport, but not in Newport. Made for a very quiet, peaceful stay, but super easy to get to Newport.

We liked the location - right on the beach with good views. We liked the room overall. We normally bring tea with us, but since their website advertised a coffee/tea service in each room, we figured we were covered. They had a Keurig-type machine and lots of coffee k-cups, but no tea and only a microwave to heat up water. We made do, just felt a little misled. The mattress in our room could do with an upgrade as the side closest to the bathroom caved a bit too much and it felt like your feet were higher than your head. Check in was smooth; parking was good; friendly staff.

If you are looking for a getaway to the beach and other local attractions, this is the place to go. Check-in was easy. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the room was well stocked with coffee, etc. The beach below the hotel is amazing if you like to go for long walks

This was such a cute find. The room was clean & had many amenities including a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, kitchen sink with dinnerware & utensils & a small electric stove. Peggy at the office was such a sweetheart, very welcoming and helpful. The balcony outside had a nice ocean view & the staircase down to the beach was our favorite part. Wish we could’ve stayed longer, will definitely be back!
