Excellent option for London. Staff were friendly and helpful Location: just a 5 minute walk from the Tower Hill Underground Station (which is manageable with luggage!), 5 minute walk from The Tower of London, and the approach to Tower Bridge. Several convenience markets and bigger grocery stores nearby. We got the only available room at booking: the smallest studio which happened to be an accessibility room. But that made no difference to us. The room itself and the WC were both spacious. The bed & bedding good. Room had a washer/dryer that actually DID dry clothes! Huge bonus on a long trip. Detergent provided on request. Shower came on hot and strong. Fridge, cooker, microwave, TV, Nespresso were all good. (Nespresso pods also provided.) Plenty of handy sockets for charging devices. There is also a communal room on the ground floor with tables & couches = perhaps for meet-ups with friends? A well-designed space. One caveat: our room was on the side of the train: with both windows opened we could hear them distinctly (but not uncomfortably loud.) With windows closed it was a muffled sound. Trains seemed to not run late night-early AM so in any case it was fine. All-in-all good value and a great option for anyone who wants a spacious place and the option to make a meal, wash clothes, stretch out a bit in an excellent location. Def would return.

The room was spacious and well equipped with everything you need for a short or long stay (complete kitchen and even a washing machine). I appreciated the 24-hour reception and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The aparthotel is in a good location, just a few minutes from the Tower of London and well served by public transport.

I was genuinely satisfied with my stay at Rockwell East. I was a little worried after some reviews but did not find any issues. Our room on arrival was clean and had all the amenities you would find in an studio apartment. We stayed for 3 nights, our room was not cleaned during the stay nor were we provided with new towels but we carried our own as well and we were out for majority of the day that we did not feel it was a breaking point that the room wasn’t cleaned. Area was easy to navigate with multiple underground stations in walking distance which was helpful and a tesco across the street! Will stay again.

This was a last minute booking and it was absolutely amazing. The room looked just like the photos, so beautiful. Hotel is secure and really clean. The 2 ladies at the reception were so warm and friendly. Giving a 4 star rating because there wasn’t any luggage trolley and I had to get all my suitcases to my room by myself. Also check out time is 10 am, which is quite early. They also didn’t send me anything for my birthday.

The stay was very good - they need more support at reception though as you can only enter using your room key- which is fine unless you have to return to collect luggage post check-out and there is non one at the desk to let you in.

Bed comfy & liked that it was a smart tv. Large & spacious , very clean studio.I was asked for passport on arrival , which as a British citizen I didn't have , eventually they said it was ok ..this made me feel uncomfortable. Ask for a room higher up & not facing trains as I had a low down room right next to trains which kept me awake . Apart from the trains the property was very quiet , there were no banging doors or noisy cleaners on corridors . Would have liked windows to have opened for fresh air( especially if cooking )as they were locked & I was told they weren’t allowed to be opened . Was there for 8 days & cleaners did an excellent job when they serviced room half way through my stay , they were very polite & professional. Tv needs to be on an extendable arm so you can pull it out from wall as it was difficult to see fully whilst on sofa . Loved the large bathroom which had a heated towel rail & large shower & lots of space on shelf for toiletries etc. Would be nice if teabags / milks / mini toiletries/ washing machine tablets / loo rolls / tissues were in baskets at reception to help ourselves to when run out or maybe left outside doors each day in a bag as these weren’t topped up .Liked the fact there was a lift . It had more of a rented apartment feel to it than a hotel . Enjoyed my stay .

Good aparthotel. I did have some trouble with the washer/drying stopping mid cycle which presented some challenges for managing clean clothes. Also missed that there were no gym facilities, which were definitely missed.

The overall stay was just okay. The room is only cleaned every three days. When I asked about having my garbage removed, I was told to take it outside to the bin on the street myself — not what I would expect. There are a few staff members who go above and beyond and are genuinely helpful, but others seem uninterested and look the other way. Breakfast is also disappointing; once items run out, they are not replenished. Get there early Overall, not very impressive. Just ok !

This should have been one star had it not been for the very nice gentleman working the reception. We checked in to our room and the first thing we discover was an insect/pest in the bathroom that is incredibly hard to get rid of if you take it home with you (skjeggkre for oss norske). They booked us to a different room right away, thankfully. We tried taking a shower in the morning, only to be met with ice cold water and barely any water pressure. My mom ended up having to rinse off soap and shampoo in the sink. The person in the reception told us to wait ten minutes, and we waited ten to thirty minutes but still only cold water. This was every day. Hotels.com tried talking to the hotel to get us a refund, but they were slow in answering and refused a refund of any kind. This really set the mood for our London trip and we are incredibly disappointed with the hotels unwillingness to make sure their guests were happy. And also we had to pay during check-in, which is new for me. So we couldn't do anything about the very large amount we payed. Worse expierince in total than what I've had with even the cheapest motels.

It was a great property with all the amenities we needed. Very clean, safe and in great condition. The bed was comfortable and all the room was very clean as all the areas in the building. The metro is less than 5 minutes walking. There was a security guard 24/7. Will recommend the hotel, and for sure will stay there again.

Apartment was tired and needed to be painted, peeling paint and scuffs everywhere. Aircon didn’t work at all, it was set to 19 and the room temp was 29. They provided two small fans which created NO breeze just very very loud. Clearly knew aircon didn’t work so you shouldn’t advertise this as an amenity. 3pm check in and 10am check out is so poor. Such limited time actually in the room. No asking of how the stay was at check out. Cheap & good location but not good room.

The property was very clean. However, we found it a bit tricky to locate the hotel as there are no large signs outside. The nearest station is Tower Hill, which is about a 7-minute walk away. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was very spacious and very clean, with plenty of windows (we were on the top floor). It included a small fridge, an oven, and a washing machine (though there was no dryer). The hotel is situated next to train tracks, but we could hardly hear any noise from the trains. The air conditioning in our room worked great. The hotel’s location is excellent; it’s just a 10-minute walk to the Tower of London and 7 minutes to the subway station. The staff at the reception desk were very polite and helpful. One thing I noticed is that there’s no phone in the room to call reception. You either have to use your personal phone or go downstairs to speak to them. We would definitely stay here again!

This place was genuinely awesome. It was very clean, had every apart-hotel amenity you could want (washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, etc.) and felt very secure. It's within a 10 minute walk to the tube and the Tower. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

My husband and I come to London each year for a shopping trip, and Rockwell East is now our favourite base. This was our second stay and it was just as good as the first! The accommodation is local to both Aldgate and Tower Bridge Tube stations. Our one-bedroom apartment was spotless, with a comfy bed, snug bedding, great temperature control and a well-equipped kitchen for when we wanted to self-cater. The bathroom had fluffy towels, bathrobes and basic but nice toiletries — everything we needed. A lovely perk this year was the free breakfast: a small but tasty buffet with cooked options, pastries, hams, cheese, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Special thanks to Nas at reception, who recognised us from last year and made us feel genuinely welcome. Rockwell East is clean, comfortable, well-located and great value. Highly recommend!

The bed was EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE!!!!!! It was literally like a board with some cushion on it. I thought I might have pressure point wounds when I woke up lol. Otherwise the place was clean and convenient. A restaurant and a tesco across the street, starbucks a block away and several restaurants in walking distance. Walked from the tower train station and it was 25 mins. The staff was friendly. Maybe it's a European thing...the hard-as-board bed? I wouldn't stay here again because of the beds.

We had a couple of issues with the property. Firstly, apparently there was no air conditioning on the 8th floor (we were room 803). This means the temperature In the room was 26 degrees. We had been told there should be a fan in the room, but there wasn't. Luckily we could open the windows. But or course streets in the middle of London are never quiet. We also found there was a green light about the door to the room that we could find no way of turning off, while this was likely a safety light of some sort, it meant that we had both a noisy room and a green light cast over half or the room! Luckily comfortable beds and tired travellers meant we did sleep well. But probably not putting us in a room that lacked air conditioning would have helped.

Location and property condition was good. However, staff isn't empathetic. Check in - check out procedure is very rigid and can' t accommodate human condition. I was tired and wanted to check in early. They kept asking for money for early check-in. I.e. 25 pound per hour. Similarly, normally we checkout at 12, they have set it up at 10 and asked for Money to check out later than 10.

The room is lovely and has great amenities, and the hotel was a short walk from where we needed to go. A couple things weren’t great. Like said in other reviews the man at the front desk for check in is rude and cold. The pillows were awful, they looked nice and fluffy and then when you actually use them they were so flat. Our shower was broken, we were leaving anyway so didn’t care that much, and I know you can’t blame the hotel on construction but we were woken up at 7am by loud construction and the workers talking as the building next to our window was extremely close. Overall it did the job for one night.

Check in diabolical - no clear notice of need for ID in advance, reception unable to explain why they needed it and it took me 30 minutes to check in after an exhausting day traveling with no flexibility offered to fix the situation by the front desk. Room is great, clean and everything else good

Room and location were good. The early check out time was a bit of a problem - I should have checked before booking. They also weren't going to let us check in but after about 10-15 minutes they did in the end. I hadn't read the instructions properly but if you book don't forget photo ID as I nearly ended up with nowhere to sleep!

Quite comfortable, lots of space, good location. Bed was okay but quite firm, pillows were too soft and offered no support, shower was temperamental the first day but improved after then. No cooling with aircon so room was quite stuffy, windows did open but its a noisy area so couldn't sleep with the windows open. Didn't bother with breakfast as there's a Wetherspoons across the road. Would probably stay again if the price was right, we payed £280 for 3 nights which was great value but I know others have paid much more. Word of warning you MUST have ID to check-in, most people in the UK don't carry ID, we weren't told about this beforehand and were lucky to have found copies in our emails - the receptionist was very unforgiving and offered no alternative and insisted that this had been communicated beforehand which I can confirm it hadn't otherwise we would have brought ID, it seems a few people had fallen foul of this after us as well, she then forgot to give me my ID back and had to give it back to me the next day. It created such a stressful situation upon arrival, it really put a dampener on our stay - I have no idea what we would've done had we not found copie sof our ID.

Room was clean and warm. Toiletries and towels good. Very close to train line so light sleepers might struggle with the sound and vibration. The breakfast buffet was appalling. For a hotel, the breakfast buffet was the size of a B&B buffet. We got there at 9:45am and were told there was no fruit available anymore because the kitchen closes at 10am?? When they finish breakfast items, the staff do not top them up. Guests were anxious and seemed to compete for the last bit of scrambled eggs, croissant and toasts. There was only one staff member to give out plates+ cups, clean and attend to guests. If you want something other than filtered coffee (e.g. espresso, cappuccino), you need to pay extra.

Like others have mentioned there is some noise from the railway line, AC was a bit finicky, but we had a bice view. Brekky at the weatherspoons accross the road is better value than in the hotel. Also they wouldn't let us check in early, and they are stricy about the 10am checkout time. In this case for a one night stay you just get 19hrs not the best value.
