Hotel LunaSol

Not an extravagant hotel, but a good one. Clean , quiet close to the beach, ferry, shopping. Pool is nice. Parking is available but it’s only 3 spots so is very limited and is on first come first serve base’s. Was a good choice for my family on a budget. I do not recommend using the in room safe. It was not working properly at least the time we stayed. Staff was friendly.

Lovely pool area. Not too busy. A little noisy on weekend at night but not uncomfortably so. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful attention to detail. Clean white linen and towels. Hot shower. Fresh coffee in am. Super clean!!! Pool area and pavillion with outside shower and bathroom. Full kitchen for use. Front desk staff very friendly speaking english very well. Carlos and Eduardo were outstanding. Always helpful and accomodating. Top of our list having stayed in Playa at 6 different places. Valuse for money is great. Looking forward to returning there

There's a turtle pond, and the pool area and outdoor shared kitchen are nice. Kudos to Edouardo at Reception for being so professional and helpful.

I gotta say this is the best little hotel in Playa Del Carmen. It's a sweet little secret of a spot! It's close to EVERYTHING, the main street (Quinta Avenida), the beach, the bus station, pick up spots for tours, convenience stores, and tons of tasty local food. (Romeos for italian or cheap perfect pizza to go) Basically take a left out the door and walk 5 minutes to beach and one of the best tacos at Tacos El Tio Noy. It's also QUIET!!! LunaSol is like a little oasis of quiet, from the busy main street. The pool area is absolutely lovely and so well kept. The entire hotel is so well maintained and clean. Staff is helpful and kind. Even the most basic room is well set up and spacious enough for our family of 3 to be quiet comfortable. There is great food within a block at 1/2 the price of the main street. Ocho's across the street has coffee and breakfast with a smile for "pennies"!! LunaSol gives you a local feel at a great price without sacrificing anything. My family felt so safe, comfortable and happy there we can't wait to go back. It's a great deal. Water in the lobby was a HUGE help!!! And luggage storage for late departures.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. There was free coffee in the morning in the reception area, which was great. The kitchen facilities off the pool area were very convenient. Would definitely recommend.

Para mim foi tudo perfeito. Lugar simples e extremamente aconchegante, limpo e tudo funcionava. Nao tinha cafe da manha mas tinha frigobar, cozinha compartilhada. Deixavam um cafe na maquina para os clientes. Podiamos pegar água do bebedouro.(quente para cha e fria tambem) Piscina limpa e agradável. Mercado proximo da av principal no qual comprávamos tudo e esquentavamos quando nao jantava fora. Chuveiro no primeiro dia deu problema e logo arrumaram. Enfim, tudo perfeito. Voltarei com certeza

We have stayed at this hotel many times. We always enjoy the pool and the ability to use the onsite kitchen.

A pretty hotel on two levels with no elevator and a small pool to take a refreshing dip. It is a short walk to the pedestrian 5th avenue ( 2 short blocks ), and the beach ( another 2). So basically 2 to 3 minutes to the pedestrian street and 5 to the beach. There are restaurants close by, including local street vendors in a square across from a seven eleven a block away. The ADO bus station, plaza de Los pescadores , and the ferry to Cozumel are all around 8 to 10 minutes walk away more or less depending on how you walk. You can google the distance to be verify. The hotel is pretty, and the rooms are nice and clean. You have a small fridge for food and drinks, no phone, wifi which worked fine, and a tv with 4 or 5 English channels. The beds were comfy enough for us. There is also a full kitchen downstairs next to the pool with a microwave. Coffee and water are provided in the lobby. Lastly, it does have 5 parking spots for rental cars on a first come first serve basis. There is a paid parking lot directly across the street if you didn’t get a spot. All in all a great little place that won’t break your bank. We would stay here again.

It is 8 minutes walk from the Quinta Avenida. Parking was limited!

hola buena tarde! acabamos de regresar la semana pasada de nuestras vacaciones, fuimos en plan familiar 2 adultos y 2 menores.. Ubicación excelente si lo que quieres es conocer playa, todo cercas: playas, muelles, plazas, restaurantes, quinta avenida, etc, etc, etc. En cuanto al hotel muy bonito, alberca bonita, habitación muy bien, solo el servicio de limpieza ahí si les falta un poquito.. ya que no t cambian las toallas diario, tampoco barren diario tienes que andar buscándolos para que te cambien toallas, no se si sea por que no deja uno propina pero creo que la propina es al final de nuestra estancia.. (fuimos 5 días 4 noches) el chico de la recepción super amable creo su nombre es Dan, el del otro turno no tanto uno alto. El horario de la piscina también otro detalle.. la mayoría de los que se hospedan ahí me atrevo a decir que son personas que salen todo el día a turistear y termina uno llegando al hotel entre 7 y 8pm y la piscina la cierran a las 8pm. y la verdad muy pocas personas la usan.. no se cual sea el inconveniente para el hotel en extender un poco mas el horario, mas que nada por los niños. Sin duda alguna regresaremos, muchas gracias y espero que mi opinión le sirva tanto al propietario como algún usuario de la app., ya que en lo personal me gusta leer este tipo de recomendaciones para hacer una buena selección y en cuanto a la app EXPEDIA EXCELENTE SIN DETALLES!

It's also far enough from the busy Quinta Avenida, making it relatively quiet at night. On a few occasions, we could hear music from a nearby bar, but it was faint and never disruptive. The staff were friendly and very helpful, assisting with excursion arrangements and answering our questions. We appreciated a few key features of the hotel: the quiet and effective AC (we have been in other hotels where the AC unit was so loud it would wake us up at night), the pleasant courtyard with a pool and waterfall, the fully equipped kitchen, and the cold bottled water available in the lobby 24/7. We found it convenient to refill our own bottles, which was both cost-effective and eco-friendly. They also provided beach towels, which could be exchanged for fresh ones every day—perfect for our beach outings. Overall, Hotel Lunasol provided a comfortable stay, and we would consider returning on a future visit.

Hotel LunaSol was lovely 😊 we had a really clean and quiet room that was so close to everything on 5th Avenue, we came and went several times during the day. The turtle pond in the entry was a cool surprise and the pool area was tranquil and quiet. We will stay there again for sure!

The hotel provides great value for the cost. It is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. The staff are friendly and at night the front gate is locked, with a security guard watching it. It is a short walk to Quinta Avenida and to many great restaurants, yet it is far enough away from the clubs that it is quiet at night. My only criticism is that the water temperature is inconsistent (if you can get hot water, it takes a few minutes to come through the taps) and that the listing advertises a “hot tub” but it is not heated - it is just a jacuzzi shaped part of the pool with the same water as the pool. I would give the hotel 5 stars in all areas if the hot water situation was better and if the hot tub was actually hot. I will definitely consider staying here again!

Cons: Base from music nearby made it noisy at night, particularly from 10pm-2:30am (changing rooms didn't help). Hot water could be hit/miss at off-peak times (afternoon, late at night).

El personal en general es muy amable, la quinta avenida y acceso a la playa muy conveniente. Encuentras de todo. Lo que nos pasó a nosotros fue que no nos ponían toallas limpias ni sabanas, un día no nos realizaron la limpieza de la habitación.

I have stayed at this location. Many times over the years and I yet have to find a room that has anything better than lukewarm water on a bad day. The swimming pool has warmer water than the rooms.

Jaja leído un comentario al respecto pero decidí no darle importancia, y ese fue mi error. Pedí un cambio de cuarto y el recepcionista respondía que tiene todo reservado (y me seguían apareciendo 3 Standard y 5 “Deluxe” en Expedia… Soy gerente de un hotel boutique y entiendo que simplemente no quiso ofrecernos la opción de cambiar de cuarto, es todo). El segundo problema fue con el control de la TV que NO funcionaba y el pobre chico estaba frustrado solo diciendo “es que no le entiendo a esto” después de media hora parado frente a la TV sin poder hacer nada (y lo único que había que hacer era cambiar el control, no las pilas). Al final solo dijo que iba a preguntar a “la gerente” pero en realidad nunca nos dio solución y se fue porque ya era su hora de salida y solo se quedó el guardia de seguridad que vigila en la noche. Fue una decepción terrible y me arrepiento infinitamente de haber hecho esta elección. La habitación es sumamente básica, las fotos están muy bien logradas para lo que realmente percibes al estar ahí. No lo recomiendo y no volvería ni gratis. Por cierto, por favor limpien el agua de esas tortugas que quién sabe cuántos años lleva así.

The room and the bathroom was spacious, it had a fridge and an armour with a safe.it was a pretty room with comfortable beds and even a little viranda with table and chairs in a garden like setting with palms and tropical foliage. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help make you vacation the best. I also loved the little pond with turtles in the lobby. This hotel is literally a two minute walk from la quinta avenita yet was quite and peaceful at night with none of the noise from partying coming through. Loved the location.

Had considered staying on the beach, but after reading the reviews about the noise, decided to stay at Hotel Lunasol. So glad we did. The noise in many places with direct access to the beach was uncomfortably loud, even for my 24 year old grandson. Hotel Lunasol was quiet and a great choice very easy walk to the beach, and just a couple blocks from the ADO and the park Fundadores. The park had various entertainment going on in the early evening; native dancers, and flying pole dancers (danza de los volatores). park Fundadores, is the loading center for the Ferry to Cozumel. Was concerned that it might be to busy with the Ferry located there. But hardly noticed it coming and going. The staff were GREAT at the hotel, and provided easy access for a late arrival. Linens were VERY good quality, and unit was cleaned every day. The grounds of the hotel were imaculately kept.

The hotel is located close to 5th ave, but far enough away to avoid the noise issues. The room was basic, but clean, and the shower worked well. Hot water was never an issue, and the bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Amazing staff and hands on owner. Clean, great location,quiet, safe. Staff had great reccomend ations to make vacation better. Outdoor kitchen and pool made life very comfotable. 10 out of 10. Almost want to keep it a secret. What a gem!

I made my purchase thru Orbitz itinerary: 72758679823866. Absolutely WORST customer service ever. The bald mid aged guy that works front desk in the day shift, was very disrespectful to me and my group of people. I booked a total of 3 rooms for two nights from March 28 until March 30th. First morning their front desk denied our breakfast coupons, and it was part of the package we bought. Next day they admitted they made a mistake and finally provided coupons just for the last day of our stay. Anytime we asked for something the Hotel lunasol front desk staff demeanor was very racist making us feel unworthy. The owners need to make sure they train their staff properly. To my fellow Americans and Mexican nationals, based on my terrible experience STAY AWAY from this hotel until ownership corrects and properly trains their front desk staff how to treat guests with respect and dignity. The building is beautiful, location is great, pool is nice, but their front desk employees bad attitude and bad service overshadows the good things. Some minor issues at the rooms, power outlets don’t work all the time. The main door of room #4 won’t be flushed when closed on the top right part you can see an opening and light gets in during the day. The toilet sometimes won’t completely fill the tank to flush, we had to manually do it. If neighbors of other rooms talk you can hear them clearly too.

The entire staff, front desk (Victor, Roberto and Miguel) along with housekeeping, were all so amazing, full of information, spoke amazing English, and were all so very accommodating. Also, the location is PERFECT PERFECT! 2 blocks from the beach (4min) and situated on the cusp of the most amazing local restaurants with amazing eats!

neat, great location. A welcome bottle of wine was a nice touch. We only stayed in the hotel for rest at night, so don't know and can't say much about the facility. The taxi front desk arranged for us was not big as promised. Four of us end up squeezed in the back seat, as we were rushing to the airport. Other than that, was a nice stay.

Not bad for one or two night There is not much eating out options for solo traveler don’t know the area It is bit shaddy area not that close to the walking distance of downtown playal del Carmen But for one to two nights is efficient for me

This is a very nice hotel about a 5 minute walk to the beach in Playa. Just a couple of blocks off of 5th Ave, it’s very walkable and close to restaurants and entertainment. The tour companies operate meet-up locations that are also an easy walk from the hotel. Since the hotel arranged airport transportation (about $35US pp each way), we didn’t need a car. Having never been to Playa, the street outside seemed sketchy, but actually we were on a quiet street. Once inside, the receptionists were very pleasant with terrific English. The room was two full size beds, very firm, but comfortable. A remote control operated the AC which was able to crank the temp down to 19C/66F. The bathroom was spacious and also very clean. The balcony gave us a place to dry our swimsuits, and overlooked an immaculate pool area. We didn’t use the pool, next visit maybe, but the inner pool courtyard was nice. They have a locked gate which closes at 9pm. But you get a gate key. We felt very safe. Being a couple of blocks from 5th was nice for getting meals and enjoying the entertainment. We were away from the boom boom boom of the party zone…quiet for sleeping. It seemed like the hotels on that street have a “quiet hours” because by 10pm it was quiet as a church all around us. We had debated the “all inclusive” reports and are very happy we found Hotel LunaSol. Very clean, very convenient location, felt safe, and allowed to feel immersed but away from the noise on 5th. Recommended!

the hotel is ideally located in the downtown, which also means it's in the party zone, where music blares from numerous locations until at least 2 am every evening. it is far enough away that it is a distant roar, but sometimes it's very noisy. They do not charge more for A/C, which some hotels do, so one could close the windows, but we do not use a/c unless really necessary. there is a waterfall in the pool area which provides soothing sounds, which helps. the staff is excellent, very professional yet accommodating. They do not allow smoking on the grounds, which some will like and some will not! we opted for the (paid) breakfast, also excellent, but which meant we did not visit any other restaurants for breakfast, which is a pity, because there are many other choices for dining that I will explore on our next visit.

This is a very nice hotel about a 5 minute walk to the beach in Playa. Just a couple of blocks off of 5th Ave, it’s very walkable and close to restaurants and entertainment. The tour companies operate meet-up locations that are also an easy walk from the hotel. Since the hotel arranged airport transportation (about $35US pp each way), we didn’t need a car. Having never been to Playa, the street outside seemed sketchy, but actually we were on a quiet street. Once inside, the receptionists were very pleasant with terrific English. The room was two full size beds, very firm, but comfortable. A remote control operated the AC which was able to crank the temp down to 19C/66F. The bathroom was spacious and also very clean. The balcony gave us a place to dry our swimsuits, and overlooked an immaculate pool area. We didn’t use the pool, next visit maybe, but the inner pool courtyard was nice. They have a locked gate which closes at 9pm. But you get a gate key. We felt very safe. Being a couple of blocks from 5th was nice for getting meals and enjoying the entertainment. We were away from the boom boom boom of the party zone…quiet for sleeping. It seemed like the hotels on that street have a “quiet hours” because by 10pm it was quiet as a church all around us. We had debated the “all inclusive” reports and are very happy we found Hotel LunaSol. Very clean, very convenient location, felt safe, and allowed to feel immersed but away from the noise on 5th. Recommended!

I made my purchase thru Orbitz itinerary: 72758679823866. Absolutely WORST customer service ever. The bald mid aged guy that works front desk in the day shift, was very disrespectful to me and my group of people. I booked a total of 3 rooms for two nights from March 28 until March 30th. First morning their front desk denied our breakfast coupons, and it was part of the package we bought. Next day they admitted they made a mistake and finally provided coupons just for the last day of our stay. Anytime we asked for something the Hotel lunasol front desk staff demeanor was very racist making us feel unworthy. The owners need to make sure they train their staff properly. To my fellow Americans and Mexican nationals, based on my terrible experience STAY AWAY from this hotel until ownership corrects and properly trains their front desk staff how to treat guests with respect and dignity. The building is beautiful, location is great, pool is nice, but their front desk employees bad attitude and bad service overshadows the good things. Some minor issues at the rooms, power outlets don’t work all the time. The main door of room #4 won’t be flushed when closed on the top right part you can see an opening and light gets in during the day. The toilet sometimes won’t completely fill the tank to flush, we had to manually do it. If neighbors of other rooms talk you can hear them clearly too.

The entire staff, front desk (Victor, Roberto and Miguel) along with housekeeping, were all so amazing, full of information, spoke amazing English, and were all so very accommodating. Also, the location is PERFECT PERFECT! 2 blocks from the beach (4min) and situated on the cusp of the most amazing local restaurants with amazing eats!

A pretty hotel on two levels with no elevator and a small pool to take a refreshing dip. It is a short walk to the pedestrian 5th avenue ( 2 short blocks ), and the beach ( another 2). So basically 2 to 3 minutes to the pedestrian street and 5 to the beach. There are restaurants close by, including local street vendors in a square across from a seven eleven a block away. The ADO bus station, plaza de Los pescadores , and the ferry to Cozumel are all around 8 to 10 minutes walk away more or less depending on how you walk. You can google the distance to be verify. The hotel is pretty, and the rooms are nice and clean. You have a small fridge for food and drinks, no phone, wifi which worked fine, and a tv with 4 or 5 English channels. The beds were comfy enough for us. There is also a full kitchen downstairs next to the pool with a microwave. Coffee and water are provided in the lobby. Lastly, it does have 5 parking spots for rental cars on a first come first serve basis. There is a paid parking lot directly across the street if you didn’t get a spot. All in all a great little place that won’t break your bank. We would stay here again.
