This hotel was amazing! I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Despite of no staff being there all the time we had everything we needed without needed help. They had a grill which we used and all tools were available. They had a game room with a lots of card games, photo booth, karaoke, television, microwave and a refrigerator to store things meanwhile being there. They had a sauna, a cold plunge, hot tub in and nice area. The pool was amazing and clean. Room was clean and well kept. I would definitely stay herw again!

The room was great, beautifully decorated with mid-century modern furnishings and antique bullfighter theme. The bed was comfortable. Nice mini-kitchen and bar table. The pool is showing wear and is in need of a good pumice cleaning around the rim. The pool area could also use a half bath and changing room for those who want to linger after checkout. There was an office but when asked about the office restroom they said “we don’t have public restrooms.”

If you want a kitschy experience in Palm Springs, this would fit the bill. The hotel property definitely has that mid-century vibe. And the pool area was very nice and manicured. The parking lot was a bit tight, but there are enough spots and we never had a problem finding one. They even had a few charging stations for EVs which came in handy. We stayed in room 1 which was large and had a private patio. Upon entering the room we were hit with a strong bleach smell. I’m weird and kinda like the smell of bleach but it was even a bit too much for me. We opened the slider and resolved that issue. Overall the room was ok, it definitely looked better in the pictures. I know it’s a mid-century vibe, but some things were a bit shoddy and in need of repair. For example, the shower could definitely use a regrouting, it was pretty really dingy and even with the bleach it didn’t look clean. The vanity (original to the hotel) could use a new paint job and hardware (what’s on there now is rusting and looked sloppy). The room could also use some throw rugs. I feel like this place could be a real gem if they just put a little bit of money and elbow grease into it. Location wise, the property is not near downtown but it’s not far. Also, I could have sworn that when I booked, bikes were available to use. That is not the case.

Great stay, extremely easy and virtual check-in process. Only stayed 1 night so I was unable to use the ameneties to the fullest but there is a nice clean pool area, and complimentary bikes. My only cons for my stay is that the walls are a bit on the thin side so you can hear planes from the airport and door closings from the neighbors, but I still slept great. That and the bathtub had some discoloration from age. probably just needs some extra TLC in that unit but I would definitely still stay here again. ALSO, biggest reson for me staying here was the EV chargers. One of the few properties I found that had one. There are 3 Tesla Only chargers, and one (hiding) normal EV charger (slow), but super convenient for overnight charging included in the stay.

The Monkey Tree Hotel has a great aesthetic and plenty of fun activities. I loved the layout and appreciated the free Photo Booth, ping pong table, and painting section. Although it was easy to check in via the app, they’re definitely missing that face to face engagement. There is no one to greet you or help set the ambiance. I adore boutique hotels and admire the extra mile they typically take to ensure customer satisfaction. Don’t expect that here. By day two, the pool was covered in bugs..ew. I think it’s because there is no one working there other than the housekeepers. Our trip ended on a bit of a negative note as one of the housekeepers abruptly opened the door as we were gathering our bags to head out. Best practice calls for KNOCKING before entering a guest room which she did not do and on top of that she had a sour look on her face and did not apologize. It was 11:02! Yes I understand check out is all 11am but c’mon. That was rude and unprofessional. Overall, the monkey tree has potential and fun activities to keep guests entertained but you can tell they’re cutting corners with the lack of in person staff.

Very nice property. Pool patio hot tub was great. Used the BBQ as well. Bit of road noise through the back wall of this side of the complex. Curled up at edges area rug was a major tripping hazard. Bikes were fun but the 2 old ones are dangerous as the chains are very rusty and when the chain pops off you have no brakes except dragging your feet.

There is a great pool and hot tub for relaxing swimming. The location was quiet and close enough to downtown that it was never more than a short drive to go anywhere, plus many convenient places in the immediate area too. The only thing I would change would be the door touchpad entry. I would have preferred physical buttons or a key.

Very close to downtown and popular restaurants. Place was vintage, found it really cool. Great spot to stay with a large party. Parking wasn’t an issue when we were staying. You are looking at approx. 10 standard parking space, 2 for accessibility, and about 2 for EV. The suite we stayed was Presidential, it had 2 full baths which made me and my wife excited! Room was very colorful, lots of space. AC was blasting on cool which was a plus since it was almost 100°F when we visited. Room and facility was clean, no foul odor or smell. Easy to access, you have the main gate code and another for your room. The hotel does not have staffing active 24/7, so do note that if you need frequent assistance. Going back to the location, it was 20 minutes away from the Cabazon outlets and less than 1 hour away from Joshua Tree National Park. Also a few mins away from Elvis Presley’s Honeymoon Hideaway house which was sadly now private property but cool to look at.

Upon getting into our room, there were flies buzzing around in the bathroom. It took 30 minutes to kill them. The ice bucket was covered in oily finger prints from the previous guest. The inside of the ice bucket had melted ice and a dirty spoon and smears of some white pasty substance. There was NO hot water for our room. We ran the shower and sink for over 5 minutes and it was ice cold. The guest in the room next to us also had no hot water and multiple issues with his room (room #1). The drape rod by the front door fell loose. It had been gerry-rigged with a thin piece of wire to hold it in place where the bracket wasn't screwed into the wall/ceiling. The jacuzzi had debris and hair floating on the top. The guest in room 1 also mentioned this to us. It is nearly impossible to get hotel staff on the phone. It took over 4 hours for hotel management to return a call regarding a refund for our room. Over 2 weeks later, I have not received the refund The Monkey Tree manager promised me over the phone and in writing. Hotels.com has also dropped the ball with this matter. I am now disputing the entire charge on my credit card since we only stayed the first night and canceled for the remaining 2. Avoid the Monkey Tree Hotel unless you want to deal with a lot of headaches.

We really loved our stay. Amazing hip little property. Could use a microwave in the room. And could use better cleaning. Our patio furniture was caked in dust and very dirty. Other areas of room/property also needed more cleaning. The giant tub in our room and large windows were awesome. Bed very comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

This property advertised a completely different room than the one I stayed it. I paid extra for a "monkey" themed room, and was put in a standard room. They say Adults Only, but on the front door it says "family friendly". They tell you you MUST let them know if you check in after 6 PM, don't answer the phone, it's self-check in anyways. It is INFESTED with bugs. There were bugs on the ceiling, falling on the bed. All over the bed stand, on the headboard, in my luggage. I told the property and they said 'thanks for letting us know'. I was up all night killing their bugs, and had to place a lamp on the other side of the room to try and attract them away from the bed since they were pouring from the window above the bed. There are other cleanliness concerns like mold in the window in the bathroom, but itching all night from a variety of crawling and flying bugs taking over the room felt much worse.

The room had a noticeable unpleasant odor. I can tolerate old, but this had a nursing home/urine type smell. I was looking forward to my stay here based on the pictures, the grounds are nice, but that's where it ends. Room #2 in addition to the odor, showed signs of neglect. Again, I don't mind old, but scuffs, scrapes, marks on walls can easily be cleaned or painted over. New fixtures that weren't original didn't seem clean. Towels were clean but had stains on them. Furniture, while vintage was peeling apart. A deep cleaning, simple makeover would've easily gotten 5 stars from me and a repeat guest. I get the impression they are doing the least amount of upkeep as possible, and it shows. While my stay wasn't awful, I would try somewhere else.

It appeared we were the only guests until a single gentlemen showed up. It only got weird when he left at the exact same time as us and waited for us leave before he would leave, he got in and started his car before we even opened ours. We even took time to decide on breakfast and our path out of town (he just sat there) It felt very uncomfortable. It is not the worst place we have ever stayed but it is a close second, super disappointed.

Enjoyed the easy access and environment for the most part. The sauna was an amazing touch too. Though the premise was peaceful and quiet, walls are very thin and neighbors were a little loud. In addition, WiFi was very poor. Also the a/c and heat made a noise that was disruptive so we didn’t use it which was a bummer. Good stay for the price but just a couple of misses.

Great property, off the beaten path just enough to make it quiet and not necessarily walkable. The king suite we were given was not exactly “pool view” but it was spacious, well appointed, and very comfortable. Pool was wonderfully warm, jacuzzi was super and there was a cold plunge for those that enjoy that. Lots of amenities on the property - bikes, ping pong, TV, fire pit. Really lovely and we will likely come again. I saw housekeeping staff - there was no one in the front office that I saw at any time in our three days there - which in fairness was over a weekend. I will say, as might be expected with the age of the buildings, hot water was scarce and finicky, and water pressure low. Also the walls are paper thin. We could hear every word of our neighbors’ conversation.

What a cool hidden gem in Palm Springs! This spot was such a nice surprise find. Rooms were simple and clean, and we loved the hot tub and pool/patio area. Elise and staff were friendly. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

If you want a kitschy experience in Palm Springs, this would fit the bill. The hotel property definitely has that mid-century vibe. And the pool area was very nice and manicured. The parking lot was a bit tight, but there are enough spots and we never had a problem finding one. They even had a few charging stations for EVs which came in handy. We stayed in room 1 which was large and had a private patio. Upon entering the room we were hit with a strong bleach smell. I’m weird and kinda like the smell of bleach but it was even a bit too much for me. We opened the slider and resolved that issue. Overall the room was ok, it definitely looked better in the pictures. I know it’s a mid-century vibe, but some things were a bit shoddy and in need of repair. For example, the shower could definitely use a regrouting, it was pretty really dingy and even with the bleach it didn’t look clean. The vanity (original to the hotel) could use a new paint job and hardware (what’s on there now is rusting and looked sloppy). The room could also use some throw rugs. I feel like this place could be a real gem if they just put a little bit of money and elbow grease into it. Location wise, the property is not near downtown but it’s not far. Also, I could have sworn that when I booked, bikes were available to use. That is not the case.

Was great my first time in Palm Springs wanted to stay there cause the history of the place loved it !!!! Will be back so happy I chose this one will prob be the only place I stay when I go to Palm Springs!! They had a Photo Booth u can take and email the pics to yourself for free Rooms are big it was 109 and the ac worked good I got room 4 the higher the room number the closer to the pool u are I don’t swim so it was perfect location

NO SHAMPOO! I have minimal requirements for most motels I stay in - a comfortable bed, relatively quiet, ice machine, working toilet and shower and soap and shampoo. This motel uses dispensers, not little bottles of shampoo where you can tell whether they are empty or not. After getting in and getting wet, I reached for the shampoo dispenser only to discover the dispenser was empty. I found no additional supply in my room and, since this motel is totally contactless ( which they seem to consider is a plus), there was no office to go to and person to speak with to get the problem fixed. There is a number to text, but I was wet and it was an hour before check out. Mini fridge worked and the loud a/c didn’t bother me, it actually blocked other sounds.

The room had a noticeable unpleasant odor. I can tolerate old, but this had a nursing home/urine type smell. I was looking forward to my stay here based on the pictures, the grounds are nice, but that's where it ends. Room #2 in addition to the odor, showed signs of neglect. Again, I don't mind old, but scuffs, scrapes, marks on walls can easily be cleaned or painted over. New fixtures that weren't original didn't seem clean. Towels were clean but had stains on them. Furniture, while vintage was peeling apart. A deep cleaning, simple makeover would've easily gotten 5 stars from me and a repeat guest. I get the impression they are doing the least amount of upkeep as possible, and it shows. While my stay wasn't awful, I would try somewhere else.

Cute older property that has been updated. However, I will not stay in another AvantStay Property. They promise & don’t deliver! Info said the office would be open til 7. No one in sight. We had an issue w the water in 1 of our rooms, called the 800 # & rep said they would send someone over & to keep my phone handy if we went to dinner. No one called or came! Reservation process not customer friendly at all either!

The check in process to enter the room took 40 minutes. There is no human being on property to assist you. The phone line for support could not help us to quickly access our room. In order to check in we had to download an app, upload a license, do a face scan, various digital signatures. Then after that we had to sign a rental contract via email. The email didn't arrive and we checked spam. Their process to check in was not streamlined and so overly complicated. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel. It was 100 degree weather which made things worse. We missed our dinner reservation at Copleys and we're charged a $25 fee for that.

Hotels.com?AvantStay does not inform you about their check in rules at the time you pay for the stay. You are sent an e-mail requiring that upload your Drivers License, Passport or other information. The e-mail appears to be a phishing attack, but no one at AvantStay knows what phishing is. Conveniently. You cannot opt out of this. After getting the request via text and a conversion, I had to submit to a facial biometric scan and then download the app to my iPhone. The data sharing details required by Apple divulge AvantStay will sell your data and denotes they will access your Contacts in your iPhone. This is completely outrageous. Since AvantStay doesn't know what phishing is, who know what they are going to do with perfect identity theft information they possess. I had my cc compromised in the past via bookings.com because they were hacked. PISSED OFF!

Stunning property for those seeking a midcentury modern stay. Really impressed by the facilities - lots of really nice touches like welcome snacks and a lounge with free photobooth, plus the pool was heated so very comfortable. However, the booking and check-in process was confusing and we ended up in the wrong room (smaller than booked). As the property is unstaffed there was no-one to talk to about this. They provide phone numbers to call but with a foreign cell that wasn’t an option. A shame as the property is wonderful.

Upon getting into our room, there were flies buzzing around in the bathroom. It took 30 minutes to kill them. The ice bucket was covered in oily finger prints from the previous guest. The inside of the ice bucket had melted ice and a dirty spoon and smears of some white pasty substance. There was NO hot water for our room. We ran the shower and sink for over 5 minutes and it was ice cold. The guest in the room next to us also had no hot water and multiple issues with his room (room #1). The drape rod by the front door fell loose. It had been gerry-rigged with a thin piece of wire to hold it in place where the bracket wasn't screwed into the wall/ceiling. The jacuzzi had debris and hair floating on the top. The guest in room 1 also mentioned this to us. It is nearly impossible to get hotel staff on the phone. It took over 4 hours for hotel management to return a call regarding a refund for our room. Over 2 weeks later, I have not received the refund The Monkey Tree manager promised me over the phone and in writing. Hotels.com has also dropped the ball with this matter. I am now disputing the entire charge on my credit card since we only stayed the first night and canceled for the remaining 2. Avoid the Monkey Tree Hotel unless you want to deal with a lot of headaches.

Lovely property and immaculately maintained retro feel. Small and quiet. Pool was cold- hot pool was great. Check-in was not very good- we did not know that check-in was completely no contact. This should be explained better when booking. If you are not mobile phone savvy then Avante properties are not the right chain. Having said that, we would now go back as we understand the process, however it definitely impacted our stay.

The Monkey Tree Hotel has a great aesthetic and plenty of fun activities. I loved the layout and appreciated the free Photo Booth, ping pong table, and painting section. Although it was easy to check in via the app, they’re definitely missing that face to face engagement. There is no one to greet you or help set the ambiance. I adore boutique hotels and admire the extra mile they typically take to ensure customer satisfaction. Don’t expect that here. By day two, the pool was covered in bugs..ew. I think it’s because there is no one working there other than the housekeepers. Our trip ended on a bit of a negative note as one of the housekeepers abruptly opened the door as we were gathering our bags to head out. Best practice calls for KNOCKING before entering a guest room which she did not do and on top of that she had a sour look on her face and did not apologize. It was 11:02! Yes I understand check out is all 11am but c’mon. That was rude and unprofessional. Overall, the monkey tree has potential and fun activities to keep guests entertained but you can tell they’re cutting corners with the lack of in person staff.

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel. I had a serious air condition issue during my whole stay. On the second night the A\C gave error and started to not cooling. I couldn’t tell anyone as the property is a non-staff hotel. When I woke up I called customer care and they sent a technician a couple of hours later in the afternoon. He said he reset the a/c and said now is okay then left. The room size is big and the ven when the technician said it’s okay, there was really not perfect cooling in the room but I said myself it’s okay it’s better than having no a/c. However in the same night the a/c gave the same error and stop cooling again. It was a nightmare to trying to sleep without a proper air conditioning while 110 degrees heat wave in PS. I called customer care again on my checking out day yesterday. They said they are very sorry about all this inconvenience and they will get call me very soon. Since yesterday no-one called me actually. Hotel has nice decorated big rooms I really liked it when I first arrived. But air conditioning made my stay quite uncomfortable under dessert heat.

I arrived at 6pm. There was wasn’t any staff onsite for check in. This would not have been so difficult had I not been sent 7 long text messages and 5 emails prior to check in. As I read through all these messages I tried calling the customer service # posted on the main gate and pressing the Ring camera doorbell button. No response from either until 5 hours later. This is more of an Airbnb and not a hotel.

It was an interesting place, no direct interaction with hotel staff everything was done through email and text. Room was clean and comfortable except the heater did not work as well as I liked. They seemed to be near the airport as in the morning we could hear planes coming over. They had a nice pool and hot tub. Arriving in the dark proved a little challenging as they have limited parking and wasn’t easy to spot.They have charging stations for EV’s.

I feel like this place could be a real gem if they just put a little bit of money and elbow grease into it. Location wise, the property is not near downtown but it’s not far. Also, I could have sworn that when I booked, bikes were available to use. That is not the case.

There is a great pool and hot tub for relaxing swimming. The location was quiet and close enough to downtown that it was never more than a short drive to go anywhere, plus many convenient places in the immediate area too. The only thing I would change would be the door touchpad entry. I would have preferred physical buttons or a key.

Fantastic hotel in beautiful Palm Springs. Highly recommend The Monkey Tree as an authentic slice of desert classic with a great pool / tub and sauna/cold plunge. Located away from the loud busy strip. Can’t wait to return

Very close to downtown and popular restaurants. Place was vintage, found it really cool. Great spot to stay with a large party. Parking wasn’t an issue when we were staying. You are looking at approx. 10 standard parking space, 2 for accessibility, and about 2 for EV. The suite we stayed was Presidential, it had 2 full baths which made me and my wife excited! Room was very colorful, lots of space. AC was blasting on cool which was a plus since it was almost 100°F when we visited. Room and facility was clean, no foul odor or smell. Easy to access, you have the main gate code and another for your room. The hotel does not have staffing active 24/7, so do note that if you need frequent assistance. Going back to the location, it was 20 minutes away from the Cabazon outlets and less than 1 hour away from Joshua Tree National Park. Also a few mins away from Elvis Presley’s Honeymoon Hideaway house which was sadly now private property but cool to look at.

Nice pool, hot tub, and sauna. property grounds were well maintained. room was nice. Pipes are old and turning on the shower required letting it run a minute for a bit of rust to come out before you hop in. Mostly quiet occumpants, but there was a weird drew there one night that commandered the pool deck to do repairs on their dirt bikes. Comfortable bed/pillows. Three tesla chargers on site.

This hotel is a beautiful time capsule from the 60's, don't come here expecting a modern, perfectly kept place. The room was massive and gorgeous, our shower was essentially in a sunroom and it was the coolest experience of my life. The pool was heated to the literal perfect temperature, I've never been in a pool that's been this temperature before. It was amazing. The hot tub and sauna and cold plunge were just the cherry on top. I can't wait to return again to this piece of history.
