I have stayed here a number of times and it is always good with friendly helpful staff and clean and comfortable rooms. There is a car park which is helpful although it can get a bit full at times I have never failed to find a space.

Lovely traditional hotel in a great location. We would say that anyone with mobility issues may struggle with the flights of stairs in this heritage building. Rooms were spacious with nice views and bathroom was very nice.

Very clean room and excellent service. The only let down was that the room did not have aircon although 2 fans were provided either side of the bed. Pillows could be thinner than provided. Beds were comfortable. Decor needs updating.

Staff was kind, location was great. I had a room in their smaller secondary building and I didn't know the hotel didn’t have a lift so carrying all my bags up flights of stairs wasn't much fun... but everything else was great!

The hotel is super well situated in Clifton. I chose this hotel specifically because of the location and because it was dog friendly. For anyone bringing a dog, call ahead to make sure you reserve a dog friendly room (I booked and then rang immediately and they sorted this right away). There is also a very nice grassy area just across the road for a dog to run around (which is where I took him in the morning). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, everything was clean, and the location was really great. I struggled for parking as it was fully booked that day. Luckily my car is tiny and I could squeeze in the last available spot, but most cars would have struggled. As it was a weekend, on street parking near the hotel was all full, but I did notice that a few streets away it was more available. I'd definitely stay again.

A very substantial breakfast in a light and airy dining room. Easy walking to the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the lovely park above it. Bus service to the center of town is just across the street. And if you have the Freedom Pass, the buses are free, though sometimes the drivers don't know that! The on site parking is not free (£9 per day) stung a bit, as many other places (perhaps not in Bristol) offer free parking to paying guests. Lovely staff. As it is a property with character, that means many, many steps. Elegant steps, but lots of them.

The property was good for an overnight stay but would not have been a choice for a longer stay. The staff were good and very helpful. There's parking available but make sure you get directions and don't rely on satnav. The entrance to the car park is small and not so obvious.

I booked 3 rooms but my room was in a.different building. I felt as though we were in the dungeon! Room.was big but vwry dated . The bathroom was grubby. No lock on the door and insects crawling on the bathroom.floor.. my daughters stayed in the other building and her room.was much nicer.

The room, large double was bigger than expected. Very clean throughout and good shower. Comfortable beds and everything in working order. Breakfast tasty and plentiful. Very good location for Clifton Village and central Bristol. If you don't like to walk the bus stops outside the hotel.

Very clean and good housekeeping each day. Set right in the heart of Clifton Village and opposite Victoria Square gardens to be able to sit in and enjoy the sunshine. Will stay there again when on another course and reccomend it to others.

The location and heritage building are the only positive aspects of this hotel - our room was so small that even walking past each other was a struggle, with a toddler and luggage in the room, it couldn’t have worked for more than x1 night. The decor was also extremely basic/low-budget. I couldn’t use the car park on day of departure too, so still had to find on-street parking first thing in the morning which wasn’t relaxing. Lastly, the breakfast was a little awkward. Having to ask for a tea/coffee top up (in a tiny cup) irks me - a pot on the table, or a self service station would improve that. The food was well cooked though.

Stayed one night, arrived early and was offered and staff were very accommodating im giving us a room before the 3pm check in. Didn’t have food so can’t comment . Pillows for me were too hard, but that’s just me. Good size large double (. 207) The hotel can do with having some general decorating , but it was clean . Fab location for Clifton village. This is our second time staying. Would recommend .

The room was very nice, perhaps some things a bit old but pretty anyway. Beds comfy, bathroom very nice, spotlessly clean. Staff we met were lovely. The one huge negative was the noise - particularly banging doors. We were in room 214 opposite a room used by staff. Woken both days at 6.10am by that door, then lots of door banging from below our room where the entrance door was. In the evening woken by doors banging as guests came up to rooms. All this could be remedied by fitting slow closure hinges on all the doors adjusted to prevent doors closing with force. This is a good hotel in every other way.

We love this hotel and have stayed before for a night out in Bristol. The only thing we would say was not perfect was at breakfast. There was only one waitress on a Saturday morning and it was busy at 9am. The breakfast was slow coming out. Maybe the kitchen was also understaffed. Otherwise all great!

First time at the Victoria Square and we can’t wait to return, lovely welcome from Claire on reception who really made our stay pleasant. Our room was newly decorated and was superb, peaceful, calm and comfortable, we could easily have stayed longer! The hotel was perfect for us as it’s one of the very few located in Clifton where we base ourselves. Parking is a gift, £9 per night and plenty of spaces although it’s first come first served. We didn’t have breakfast but there are several options in this fantastic area. We’ll return!

We were welcomed by a very friendly, helpful and smiley Italian lady. Location is great, room nice and clean, but a bit small. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but we had a pleasant stay. In short a pleasant stay!

The hotel is in a nice location in a quiet square in the middle of Clifton Village. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed When I checked in the staff member on reception was quite pushy about getting a credit card number from me, to cover damages, even though I had paid for the room in advance and was only staying one night. I was told the room was on the first floor so I asked if there was a lift. I was told there was no lift available; the staff member made no offer to help me with my luggage. After looking all around the first floor I found my room was actually on the second floor.

Good location in quiet square this traditional property looked filled with promise. The welcome was not warm or friendly and the staff appeared to be focused only on process. The decor is tired throughout and there was no sign of flexibility on breakfast , parking or local attractions or geography.

Check in was poor - asked for my card a second time and when asked why was then told it was void the first time. Given wrong directions and wrong card key to the room - had to go back to reception to be given correct key. Room had no window - only light was the glass in the door. Disappointed to say the least. Bathroom in need of refurbishment.

We had a really nice large room with a sofa for relaxing in, plus a very comfortable bed. The area was quiet, but an easy walk to the restaurants in Clifton and the tourist areas of Bristol. All very relaxed, which is what we wanted.

This hotel is in a great location in Clifton. Easy walking to amazing restaurants and independent shops. And right on the frequent #8 bus route if you're coming from the train station. It's a 3-star hotel so as long as you're not expecting 5-star facilities, it's good. Very clean with friendly staff. My only complaint was that our room (actually the whole 2nd floor) didn't smell great.

The hotel is very clean and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We were that happy we booked in on our return journey from Devon. The hotel faces the Victoria Square Garden, with a short walk through the garden you’re into Clifton village. There’s restaurants and shops within walking distance. Also the bus stop is outside the hotel, where the No8 takes you into the city, and the return stop is also outside the hotel. I would recommend staying here !

Nice spacious clean room at a good price. Only complaint was that the room was at basement level facing the main road so there was quite a lot of noise from traffic and pedestrians. Could easily be improved by insulating the windows.

Great location and lovely building. Parking on site is available for c. 10 cars which is great, although there is also parking in the surrounding area. About a 20 minute to the centre and lots of cafes/shops within a 5 minute stroll. The only negative we had was that we found it quite noisy, not the road outside but the hotel guests and so I think the walls must have been thin. That being said, we would definitely stay here again and the staff were really friendly.

We had a great 2 night stay at the Victoria square. Room was clean, comfortable and airy. Breakfast for £13pp was superb value - quality ingredients, fresh and delicious. We will definitely be staying here again on another visit to Bristol.

The room was great. Cleanliness was amazing. The issue was the wait at breskfast. We had too ask the young girl too serve us, she was more intent on cleaning tables, which I found a bit odd as there were only 2 tables having breskfast. We had to continually ask for coffee/ orange juice. We waited over 20 minutes for our breakfast to arrive, yet we had ordered it when we arrived.

Really enjoyed our stay here and the area is very pretty and high quality.The room was great very clean and had everything we needed.Location was good as a stroll away were the main amenities with great shops bars restaurants and green spaces. My only concern was we got the impression there may have been staffing issues as we waited for our breakfast for quite a while (we had to pre fill in breakfast forms) plus the portions/accesible items were not very substantial.Tea/coffee/juice had to be pre ordered the sugar and butter portions were brought to our table instead of being accessible...for the price we paid for breakfast it felt a little underwhelming as if they were being careful with portions.If staying here try to get a room at the rear of the property as road noise can be disturbing.

Pros great location for Clifton Village and the lovely nearby restaurants. Staff are freindly and breakfast is good. Cons charge for parking. Extra parking charge if you leave it later than 11am on day of departure. Some rooms are in another building. Some rooms are 3 star standard and OK but the family room i was in was easy for refurbishment, e.g the furnishings didn't match and were mostly ready for the skip, the walls needed repainting and the flat screen tv was the smallest I've ever seen. Also for breakfast there's a strange prices where you have to book a time slot, which is understandable. However, having to choose your breakfast the day before doesn't really work and then needing to go back to reception every time if you want to change it for the following day is just a waste of time. Try a menu on the table!
