Modern central location with the river about a 15m walk away. Comfy beds, and quiet in a high room. Breakfast at £25pp is expensive for hot buffet, and doesn't include cooked items on menu which are a further £13 or so. Limited parking on site at £40/day, or within 7 min walk across the green at around £25/day (EV chargers here).

Breakfast is very bad value. Streaky bacon is only the first of many issues. WiFi slow and blocks some VPNs. Low water pressure. One lift broken, the other enraging. Staff are great and if you can get over the unnaturally long pillows the beds pretty comfortable too. Apparently charged me a tenner to upgrade my room without checking with me first. Typically vexing hotel TV.

This hotel has so much potential but it just comes up a little short. We enjoyed our stay, the bar area was lovely, room room for improvement. - Communication - I was in contact with the hotel in advance to ask about parking, they just ignored me until after we stayed - poor. We turned up see if we could park onsite, took 15 mins to even find a human to ask, they eventually said no & directed us to the nearest car park 5 mins away. FYI walking to the hotel is a across a very dark park, not great for a female on her own. - Breakfast - set up at Parker's Tavern was great, nice continental options, don't bother with a la carte. Took 40 mins to get an avocado on toast delivered. Not what you expect when you paid £200 per night. We added breakfast at check in as staff advised it was cheaper, the restaurant had no record of this so we awkwardly had to explain it to them. - Classic room - we booked a room with twin beds (2 friends). Allocated ground floor - room decor was lovely but the room smelt so bad of sewage every time we walked in. We were only there 1 night, they'd already told us no upgrade to a twin superior room was available & the reception was mayhem so we didn't bother to complain. - Bar access - a main reason to stay was the lovely bar. We went for a drink at 6pm & was refused access very rudely, just told it was full. We looked through the door & lots of bar stools & seats explained we were staying at hotel, they eventually let us in but reluctantly. So strange.

Stayed overnight as visiting with a friend. I think I was expecting the room to have have a little more old school luxury . I’d upgraded to a king room. All that was in the strange shaped room was a bed, desk and a random settle without the back. I had thought there would be an occasional chair, but maybe I was expecting too much. Bathroom was lovely and sizeable Nice wardrobe with tea and coffee, unfortunately the milk was off which destroyed my chance of a nice cup of tea in bed. The bed though. It was divine. I like firm beds but this one was perfect and the bedding was good quality. Room was quiet although right by stairs. Aircon was not adjustable except to turn it on and off but the temperature was ok. Their idea of 24 hr room service needs work. Sandwiches! The lifts can take forever to arrive and I didn’t like that they appear not to have service lifts so you end up sharing with all manner of things. All in all a nice first experience but I don’t know if I’d stay again.

Overall the hotel is a nice play to stay, with beautiful decor and comfortable rooms. It is well located, being walking distance to the centre. However it is let down a little by some staff. We were hurriedly checked in on arrival and given no information on where to find the lifts, where our room was located, dining information etc. Yet later on when I wandered around looking for the car park , the young man on Concierge greeted me with a smile and I insisted on taking me there, and then give me a complete tour of the facilities. There is parking under the hotel. Not cheap at £40 for the night, but very convenient. Service is slow in the bar, and I had to walk up to pay my bill after waiting too long for a waiter to come. Little things, but when you pay a premium to stay at a good hotel, you do expect a premium service. I would stay again. The hotel just needs to get the staff better trained.

Great location, seconds from shops and restaurants and minutes from the central colleges. Gorgeous view our across Parker's Piece from the park view rooms. Only problem is very very limited parking on-site, which means parking in the nearby multi-storey, which fortunately is open 24/7

Although the hotel was welcoming we were disappointed about some minor things. In our room 431 the bathroom door had water damage to the bottom causing it to swell and paint to peel. The toilet flush was not working well. The left hand bedside light was not working. Only two teabags and one portion of milk for tea in the room. All of which was a shame for the money we paid.

Friendly staff and excellent location, but air cond' in my room didn't function well and moved from 14 degrees (very cold) to about 27 degrees (very hot) after three calls before I finally turned it off at 2.30am. Terrible night's sleep as I had an early start. Fortunately, we have a choice. I got a sense there were issues with the technology as other issues were happening.

Food at the Tavern is truly amazing. Rooms aren't great - curtains don't close properly so you get woken up early. Also, no sound insulation so we can hear every step from the person staying the floor above. Breakfast options are very limited. Drinks/mocktails at the bar are not great - too sweat.

Our second stay here recently and, honestly, it's a superb hotel. The staff are well-trained and uniformly excellent, the rooms are beautiful, recently refurbed, with wonderful beds and gorgeous bathrooms. We can't fault it and look forward to our next visit.

The University Arms is truly a fabulous experience. For us the staff were attentive and friendly. Alway available to help. The breakfast experience was the one of the best. The staff have a great team spirit to watch.

Overall the hotel is a nice play to stay, with beautiful decor and comfortable rooms. It is well located, being walking distance to the centre. However it is let down a little by some staff. We were hurriedly checked in on arrival and given no information on where to find the lifts, where our room was located, dining information etc. Yet later on when I wandered around looking for the car park , the young man on Concierge greeted me with a smile and I insisted on taking me there, and then give me a complete tour of the facilities. There is parking under the hotel. Not cheap at £40 for the night, but very convenient. Service is slow in the bar, and I had to walk up to pay my bill after waiting too long for a waiter to come. Little things, but when you pay a premium to stay at a good hotel, you do expect a premium service. I would stay again. The hotel just needs to get the staff better trained.

Modern central location with the river about a 15m walk away. Comfy beds, and quiet in a high room. Breakfast at £25pp is expensive for hot buffet, and doesn't include cooked items on menu which are a further £13 or so. Limited parking on site at £40/day, or within 7 min walk across the green at around £25/day (EV chargers here).

Great location, seconds from shops and restaurants and minutes from the central colleges. Gorgeous view our across Parker's Piece from the park view rooms. Only problem is very very limited parking on-site, which means parking in the nearby multi-storey, which fortunately is open 24/7

The University Arms is truly a fabulous experience. For us the staff were attentive and friendly. Alway available to help. The breakfast experience was the one of the best. The staff have a great team spirit to watch.

Breakfast is very bad value. Streaky bacon is only the first of many issues. WiFi slow and blocks some VPNs. Low water pressure. One lift broken, the other enraging. Staff are great and if you can get over the unnaturally long pillows the beds pretty comfortable too. Apparently charged me a tenner to upgrade my room without checking with me first. Typically vexing hotel TV.

Food at the Tavern is truly amazing. Rooms aren't great - curtains don't close properly so you get woken up early. Also, no sound insulation so we can hear every step from the person staying the floor above. Breakfast options are very limited. Drinks/mocktails at the bar are not great - too sweat.

Stayed overnight as visiting with a friend. I think I was expecting the room to have have a little more old school luxury . I’d upgraded to a king room. All that was in the strange shaped room was a bed, desk and a random settle without the back. I had thought there would be an occasional chair, but maybe I was expecting too much. Bathroom was lovely and sizeable Nice wardrobe with tea and coffee, unfortunately the milk was off which destroyed my chance of a nice cup of tea in bed. The bed though. It was divine. I like firm beds but this one was perfect and the bedding was good quality. Room was quiet although right by stairs. Aircon was not adjustable except to turn it on and off but the temperature was ok. Their idea of 24 hr room service needs work. Sandwiches! The lifts can take forever to arrive and I didn’t like that they appear not to have service lifts so you end up sharing with all manner of things. All in all a nice first experience but I don’t know if I’d stay again.

Lovely hotel. Restaurant meal was excellent but breakfast was just buffet and would skip that but I don’t like buffet breakfasts and prefer it cooked to order. But great location and nice atmosphere.

Great hotel, very conveniently located however, we were a little disappointed with the restaurant. We’ve stayed there before and had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant but this time it was a little disappointing unfortunately
