Really lovely stay. Spa was great, quiet, rooms good. I would say I booked a deluxe room and it seemed to look the same as the cheaper alternative? The only difference says it has a king bed and different pillows and a few sq meters more in the room? Stay helpful. Room service never came and they didn’t seem to care or really explain why or apologies, more of a brush off?

Absolutely horrible experience at this hotel.. the staff made me so uncomfortable and made me cry.. I was rejected at the spa area because I’m pregnant (19 weeks) they said it was hotel policy but it’s not stated anywhere at all, so I wasn’t welcome at the spa or gym because their insurance didn’t cover.. I chose this specific hotel because they had a spa, as I wanted to relax after hours of shopping, however I was told I couldn’t use any of their facilities (spa and gym facilities) and when I questioned if I couldn’t decide that myself I was very rudely asked “would you really risk your unborn child for a spa?” Which obviously made me feel really uncomfortable and upset as a first time mum going a way with a friend for a weekend of shopping and spa.. When we spoke with the “manager”, there was no understanding or any apology at all.

Thank you for making our last stop on our 20-day vacation so great! The bed and pillows were by far the most comfortable of anywhere we stayed. The staff was great and so thoughtful on my husband’s birthday. We loved the location, the drinks and the food. So pretty by the park and away from the busy areas but still walkable to everything.

We stayed in the townhouse section. The access to the townhouse rooms within the hotel are below average, and I suggest guests access from the street instead. The ceiling height was great, beds comfortable. The bathroom’s in the deluxe rooms need updating, as the furniture has warped wood and shower trays semi yellow from age. The WiFi was very poor, and the hotel did try to improve but failed. The spa is out of bounds to children even after having been told they could attend before making the booking, so this was disappointing. The lounge or 10th floor is a bonus, with wonderful views.

We stayed here for 5 nights and loved it. The hotel is in an incredible location, a short walk to Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and shopping in Mayfair. The rooms appear to be recently renovated and are just lovely - the bathrooms are a bit dated, it would be good to see them modernised. All of the staff are fantastic, this was some of the best service we have ever experienced in all of our travelling. Super accommodating, will even help you make reservations and purchase tickets to events. We were on our honeymoon and they placed a delightful gift of balloons and chocolates in our room, along with a handwritten card from the team. The attention to detail is exceptional. The Breakfast is excellent, and we loved that we could order it to the room for no extra charge. We also ordered from the restaurant for lunch, and that food was excellent as well. A minor negative is that the coffee is terrible, the pod machine in the room is better - but there is a great Italian style coffee place right next door. Overall, we will definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Athenaeum.

I stayed here in March and was really excited to stay here again. Checking in was nice and the room was very comfortable. The real issue is that the ceiling leaked water overnight and saturated the carpet and some of our bags. My husband and I spent the morning drying our clothes with the hair dryer, and when we informed management when we checked out. They told us the leak was unfortunate, but didn't really seem to care, and then asked if we wanted to include an additional £15 to with our bill as a tip. So if you're staying in room 201, the ceiling might be leaking. I've stayed in hostels more accommodating than this. Definitely won't be staying here again.

The townhouse turned out smaller than expected, though still enough space for our short stay. Very friendly staff, very helpfull. Only point of attention is that we noticed that the cleaning person did not change the bedsheets (one of the two had some make-up stains) but rather turned the sheets around. Unexpected though not a very big deal.

The property is in a great location! The heart of Mayfair and surrounding landmarks. The staff were very friendly, the only problem I had was the comfort of the room. It was December and the room was very stuffy and warm. The windows were locked shut and no fresh air could circulate. It was difficult to get good sleep due to the warmth of the room even when it was turned to full cool and high fan. It felt like a central temp for entire building?

Main issue for me was noise. Rooms are not sound proof and street noise woke my infant well before his normal time everyday which resulted in tired baby and parents. Reservations are not helpful and one of them is rather inhospitable, she made sure to say her name extremely quickly to ensure it was impossible to discern.

This is a great hotel close to a few restaurants and Buckingham Palace. We especially enjoyed Sofra around the corner. There is a mini mart on a side street and an M&S close by. Very nice staff. Great walkable park right across the street.
