The hotel is a short walk from an ncp carpark which makes travel convenient. The breakfast options are excellent and whilst the restaurant evening menu is limited, there are good options and the food tastes lovely. Plenty of places to sit, and a good bar. It is easily walkable to grass market and princes street. Staff are very friendly and helpful. This is the second time I have stayed here, and would definitely recommend it.

Nice front desk staff, good location and clean. The bar was not run very well and the night head bar man was very rude and not customer friendly. For that reason would not return to hotel. With friends and business and all had same experience, and handling by management even when we flagged issues. No recognition of customers spending a weekend and wanting to spend some time and money in hotel.

The location is perfect and close to everything. The staff is amazing and worked with us after our flight was canceled. The breakfast is good. Highly recommend it. Parking is offsite but just a short walk away.

Great location to explore Edinburgh. The rooms felt a little clinical with not much character, but were very comfortable. Great choice of breakfast. Good choice of restaurants and bars around and really close to Edinburgj castle. We chose the hotel partly becuase of the sky bar with the view, but this was only open on weekends, and children are not allowed, which had we known we may have chosen a different hotel. Overall a comfortable stay and lovely hotel.

The hotels room was quite basic and fairly small for a family with two young adults with us. It felt more like a premier inn. Music from the sky bar was quite loud on one of the nights which stopped us all sleeping. Breakfast was very nice.

The decor was dated, but clean enough. The rooms are really noisy. You’ll hear every time the neighbors close their closet or walk to the bathroom. The “skybar” is advertised but we were told is inaccessible all year because of private events. The area is safe and quiet-ish though. The pillows? Those things are heaven. The bathtub is a bit of a death trap.

The staff was kind and helpful. The hotel is in nice condition. The bar was pretty good; we did not turn the restaurant. We liked our room. We did run into a problem with the room temperature and blankets. The room was kept at about 68°, until we asked them to raise the temperature to 72. The blankets were short and lightweight, which was difficult after spending a lot of time in the cold Edinburgh air. The shower was nice, but leaked a lot of water onto the bathroom floor. Overall, I recommend this hotel. It is close to many of the major tourist attractions in Edinburgh. You may want to call and have them raise the temperature in your room, and ask for extra blankets.

The beds were super comfy, staff very friendly. Great location The rooms were not quiet, can hear outside noise and from rooms adjacent and above. Room could have been cleaner - old hair and rubbish in bathroom on arrival. Had to ask for tea/coffee as hadn't been replaced from last guest.

The carpet was dangerously dirty, I would wipe a cloth in there and dirt and hair would stick to it, rooms are in terrible shape and they stink. Positive the front desk staff is very nice and efficient and breakfast was a 10/10 with great staff. Even with all of this the hotel is terribly dirty specially the carpet it looked like it had not been truly cleaned for months it was one of the worst I have ever seen

The first room we were put in was very unclean. We were moved to a new room where the curtains we very unclean, they had large dirty marks all over them. I would not stay in this hotel again!!! The manager has promised money back from our stay but also promised he would put this in an email with in an hour. This was over 4 hours ago. Very disappointing!!!

Hotel was well located. Few minutes walking to the main roads and the castle. The room are small for a family of 4. That being said everything else was great including staff. Most of them speak other than English language. Breakfast must be paid around $15 per day but they reduce to $12 in you paid in advance. My only concern was with the carpet. I moved the bed to make the space bigger and carpet was full of things from previous guests.

The rooms were very clean and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. If you are reserving a room ask for something at the back of the property as the traffic in the morning was very busy if your room overlooks Bread Street. Not unbearable but I’m a light sleeper! My boys had a room at the back of the property and it was very quiet.

We were on the first floor at the front. Extremely noisy especially late at night, no fault of the hotel and they did let one room in our booking of 3 rooms swop to a quieter one. Location is great for Old Town area and around 15 minutes from station.

It was a very small room but had a good air conditioning system which was essential during our heatwave visit (Aug 2025). Lovely staff. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, waffles and pancakes, which I was looking forward to, were both hard and not freshly cooked. The hotel is very well situated in town.

The room on first floor was situated over the street with floor to ceiling windows. Getting ready in wee hours was like a cave with window shades needing to be closed for privacy. No mirrors near any outlets for hair tools. Felt like a cave. Stayed at this Doubletree before and other rooms were better. Lived previous visit, this room was meh.

Good location to the prime tourist areas. Hotel was a little tired - had some issues with noise being below the “ Sky” bar. Was a little frustrated at their initial response to correcting the issue but eventually they came around to the right solution. ( but it took energy I don’t want to spend on holiday to get there) Breakfast convenient and average quality but you can find some fuel there to start the day. We paid a premium to be there over Hogmanay -and chose the Hilton brand as I use them a lot in my work travels…

We had booked a VRBO stay nearby at MyStayInn that proved to not match the photos or description. So we were desperate to find a decent place for that same night. The Old Town Edinburgh Doubletree Hilton was able to fit us in and then, by changing rooms, hosted us a 2nd night as well. The service was supportive (we were exhausted after driving from Aberdeenshire and being rerouted due to Storm Babette and then the stress of finding out the VRBO was not a place we could stay after all). The bar restaurant had good food - we had no energy left to go out to a late dinner. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom immaculate with lots of hot water from an overhead rain shower. When we had to change rooms gor the 2nd night, we just left our suitcases in the old rooms and staff moved them during the day over to the new room for us. We enjoyed morning tea & coffee thanks to the electric kettle. The shortbread cookies were fresh, not stale. We LOVED our stay and appreciated the kind staff!!!

Convenient to attractions in Old Town, but there are adult clubs right around the corner in a dilapidated building and we passed women in the streets on our way back to the hotel in the evening. The room itself was nice enough, but there was an extreme lack of closet and bureau space.

Check-in on the app was easy. Room was ready on time. Overhead lights did not work in our room. Callam worked immediately to address and offered a credit for our inconvenience. We loved the location and the breakfast that offered buffet style for on the go or ordering for a more bespoke experience was fantastic. Full marks for the Doubletree and the staff in Edinburgh.

We stayed two nights at the hotel at end of May 2024 as part of a tour of Scotland. The hotel is located fairly close to most of the tourist type attractions in Edinburgh but does not have the charm of older hotels. The room was clean and comfortable and it was quiet at night even though our room looked over the street on which the hotel was located. We ate breakfast at the hotel one morning (it was included with the tour we were on) and the wait staff was somewhat disorganized. The choices for breakfast (buffet or off the menu) were excellent and the off the menu dishes were fine. The one dinner (again, part of the tour) was just ok.
