Nice large clean room with big bathroom . About 20 min walk to city centre or there is a bus stop just outside the hotel . Had space to park my car

Clean and well organised accommodation, clear instructions for reaching and checking in. Even space for storing luggage after check out ! The main negative point was that our room was facing the Main Street which is very busy day and night and the windows are not double glazed and/or sound proof….if you are a light sleeper this will be a problem.

Fairly comfortable stay at Alison House. A couple of things I would suggest is to have a ‘Do Not Disturb’ door sign for those who do not with to have house keeping at the crack of dawn. Also for those that like to get ready in front of a mirror, there is no dressing table which made things awkward. Cleanliness was okay. On our last morning we were rudely awoken by some very loud and inconsiderate guests. We didn’t require any help during our stay however there was nobody in person to ask for help other than a ring doorbell. The surrounding area is nice and out the way of the hustle and bustle of the city. Parking should be more explained on the advertisement as there’s only room for 3 cars really.

An excellent location to enjoy Edinburgh. An easy walk into Edinburgh (approx 30 minutes to Castle) or an easy bus ride (stop close) Some great restaurants along the walk into Edinburgh. Room was very spacious and even though it was on a major street it was quiet. Easy check in and some parking in front. Would recommend if you are in Edinburgh.

Chambre très propre. Relativement proche du centre historique. Cadre et voisinage très agréable. Pas vu le staff du séjour mais ce n'est pas un problème. Un peu la galére pour se garer. 20 chambres et 3 places disponibles. Il y a des places aux alentours mais attention aux places avec permis

Disappointing although good location. We stayed in room 19 which was down a level and had no windows meaning dull and gloomy - we found a hair clip on the floor as soon as we entered which is odd. The TV signal was rubbish and BBC1 and BBC2 wouldn’t even work. The TV remote was absolutely disgusting and hadn’t been cleaned in months!! The beds, shower and toilet were clean but this room needs a revamp ASAP. The toilet roll holder was hanging off, the bathroom door knob was loose, there was a SCREW used in place of a shower component and the shower head was held up with some sort of tape???? The shower screen was also hanging off on one side as it’d come off the bottom rollers. Little things that can be easily fixed, just been overlooked which is a massive let down. No staff seen at any point and the parking forecourt can only hold between 3-5 cars depending on how people park.

Det bedste badeværelse jeg har prøvet på de britiske øer - ordentligt vandtryk og masser af varmt vand. Parkering er en udfordring idet stedets parkering var optaget af en skip og van - ingen pladser.

Nous sommes revenus au Allison apres une premiere experience très positive dans la chambre 3. Cette fois, nous étions dans la chambre 9, plus petite mais confortable. Le seul souci etait principalement le manque de pression pour prendre sa douche. Sinon très bonne adresse et possibilité de laisser ses affaires dans un casier pour visiter la ville gratuitement.

Parking was confusing. People were expected to block other cars, then leave your keys (with a friendly note), so someone could move your car. The staff was not very helpful with the check-in process. I called several times and received no call back. Check-in instructions were emailed, but went to spam. Having instructions online or returning a phone call would have been helpful.

Surprised that there was no breakfast. Was not advised of this. Difficult to manage stairs with no help as there was no lift.

Just a generally great stay - was the last of 5 places we stayed in Scotland and easily the cleanest/most comfortable/best appointed. Would absolutely stay again when revisiting Edinburgh

We went there as a couple and found out that they hadn’t even changed the bedsheets. Due dirty bedsheets me and my wife we both got the allergic reaction. Next day we complained them and got it changed. Secondly we booked a queen bedroom and in pictures they showed one bed but when we got there they had made it one bed by joining two single beds so it wasn’t even a queen bedroom for which we paid. On our complaints they said talk to hotel.com because we cant do anything about this we are fully booked now. Thirdly, the wifi was so bad it never worked, it was so slow literally we used to wait for hours for anything to load as there was no signal bars in our room. Forthly they advertised as they have free on site parking but when we reached there they told us they dont provide free parking and we told us to park in the next street. Basically our experience was so bad with them and they were so unprofessional that literally ruined our vacation.

Quarto amplo e aconchegante. Bem organizado e limpo. A única questão foi o chuveiro que não tinha morno, era frio ou muito quente. Mas isso não foi um grande problema. Checkin fácil e tranquilo. Localização de fácil acesso há poucos minutos de ônibus para o centro da cidade. Voltarei mais vezes. Destaque para o ponto de que não tem acessibilidade, precisa subir escada na entrada e para os quartos também.

Bem localizada, dá para fazer muita coisa a pé, mas se precisar o ponto de ônibus esta há 1 minuto, check in fácil, quarto limpo e espaçoso.

The hotel represents good value for money. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed and linen of excellent quality.

It's fine. 15 mins on the bus to town. Bed was comfortable. The room (5) didn't look like the pictures and the owners could invest in some sound-proofing. Otherwise it's good value for Edinburgh.

It was a good place to stay, but the window wasn't at all keeping the cold outside. With the heater at is max it was still cold in the room. Otherwise it's well situated, bus stop at 1mn, 30mn from the city center by foots. Relatively calm at night. The place look old and would need a bit of work.

It was perfect. Big room with lots of nice little touches. Bed and bedding were comfortable. Bus right across the street. 20 minute walk to the university. I would definately book again. Highly recommended.

An older multi storey property in an inner Edinburgh area, it was well serviced by buses to the royal mile (within a minutes walk.) We unfortunately planned our Edinburgh trip the same time as a million other people (we had no idea T Swift would be here) so options were limited. A windowless room was an unusual experience and frankly not one I would do again..The room was clean, although tiny. Our main issues were that the room stank of curry when we arrived and with no window, there was no way to air it. The second was the hall light was kept on all night and with an internal window into the room from the hall we were kept awake all night on our first night until we could buy eye masks. For a night or two this would be ok.

Very good hotel, easy to get to and only 30 mins away from the city when walking. There are busses to easily get you directly into the city too. I was near the front of the road and had no issue with the traffic during the night. The only downsides would be that the WiFi was a bit bad and it would be nice to have an outside lock on the private bathroom so I could leave all bathroom items in without worry of people using them.

bon séjour mais lit trop petit et inconvénient d'avoir une salle de bains sur le palier et non dans la chambre. Très bien desservi par les transports en commun, pratique pour aller en centre ville

This was our second visit to Allison House. Room 7 faces the street. Very loud with all the traffic throughout entire evening. Windows were drafty and it was a windy night. I would not recommend this room.

The place seemed clean inside and comfy bed. Check in was easy, as there was no contact with anyone. In fact, even the emergency number provided wasn’t answered. This was called when the fire alarm went off at 6 am. Someone finally showed up about 15 minutes later, pushed through the groggy crowd without a word to disable the alarm. (Note: the fire brigade never arrived, so it’s good there wasn’t an actual fire.) When the crowd was finally addressed, we were told someone left the shower on overlong… Aside from that debacle, the basement room we were in had no window and had the heater running, which couldn’t be turned off in the unseasonably warm late summer. So the room was hot and stuffy, and not the most pleasant without the early wake up. I’d say fine for students, but I think it’s a bit pricey for that. Security is questionable, as the key for your room opens the front door. And this is true for everyone…. What the key doesn’t open is the back door, which self-locks on a shabby garden with no exit. Overall, I’d say it’s best to avoid. Book early and find something decent.

No personal connection.

This place in my opinion is way over priced. No Aircon. Or fan to cool the room. No safe. No fridge, No place to put your clothes.the shower was either to hot or cold..ie cold. You could hear the people in the up stairs room moving about. There are NO staff to ask questions. I did have one issues and called the staff,they turned up after 15 minutes and sorted the issue out. At the price they charge there should be better facilities and staff.

In my opinion, there were two drawbacks to this property. First, there is no one on the property to answer questions or offer advice. Not even a phone number. They don't offer breakfast and we did not see any place in the area to get breakfast. And there was no one who could advise us which direction to go to get food. Second, our room was on the top floor (three levels up) and there is no elevator. We are in our late 70s and dragging luggage for 30 days. Not their problem, but it would have been helpful to know before arriving. On the positive side, the room was clean, spacious and felt very safe. There is a City bus stop directly across the street from the hotel. We had dinner at an Indian restaurant near the hotel. It was excellent!

Young man very helpful with case to top floor. Young man very helpful on local information for eating. Didnt like to have to climb up all stairs. Will ask for a ground floor room next time.

Fint guest house med rent og pænt værelse. Vi havde brug for at få fat i personalet under vejs, men de var ikke tilgængelige i det tidsrum som var angivet. Det var noget utilfredsstillende.

Rooms clean and comfy and adequate for our short stay. Unfortunately it was a good 35 mins walk into Edinburgh but decent bus link opposite the road.

Nice property. Easy access to buses downtown.

Location is great; we walked in to the city centre in 30 mins and there are lots of restaurants, coffee shops, etc on the way. You can easily hop on the bus right outside for a small fare. If there is no space available on the driveway then there are many residential streets just over the road where you can find parking. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean which is all we needed. The price you pay for a convenient location is being on a very busy noisy main road which may bother you if you’re a light sleeper. The place could do with some updating but it’s perfectly fine for a place to rest during a city break. Would stay again.

Well-kept hotel a pretty short walk from Edinburgh City Centre and convenient for Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat.

Such a lovely stay in this beautiful guest hotel! It had such a lovely home feeling. Very budget friendly and walkable distance to the city. If I were to make any suggestion I would say it would have been helpful to have a mini refrigerator with a microwave for meals.

We liked the recommendation of the Wee Cafe for breakfast and some of the other eating places in the area. The facility was great, large room, veery quiet, good location for everything. Thank you

Die Unterkunft liegt nicht weit von der Haltestelle Mayfield Gardens entfernt, an der viele Linien fahren. Die Unterkunft ist gut zu erkennen. Es ist sauber und die Zimmer werden täglich gereinigt. In jedem Zimmer gibt es einen Wasserkocher, Tassen und eine Auswahl an Tee. Auf den Fluren gibt es Bügeleisen. Die Betten sind ziemlich hoch und recht weich, was sowohl angenehm als auch unangenehm sein kann - ist man zu nah am Rand, fällt man raus. Die Fenster sind weder richtig Luft- noch Schalldicht. Vor zwei Zimmern im Untergeschoss wurden Lampen angebracht, die nachts in wechselnden Farben leuchten. Das Licht kann man aber gut durch die Rollos ausschließen. Bei mindestens einem Bad hat man sich einen Duschvorhang gespart - duschen kann man trotzdem. Wenn man die Mail mit Zimmernummer und Pin nicht rechtzeitig erhalten oder gelöscht hat, ist jemand per Klingel erreichbar, der einem hilft. Für den Preis in Ordnung.

Property was comfortable and clean, would have been good to have access to a fridge and microwave in room to store and reheat food. Room was one of two at entryway and not very sound proof, was noisy at times when other guests were coming and going. This appeared to be the only access to the downstairs rooms. Neighbouring guest television and conversations could be heard throughout the night. Overall the room and stay were enjoyable and if in Edinburgh again would consider returning to guesthouse

The rom was OK, although on the cool side, but the water pressure was marginal an the hot water very uneven. There wan no service; I got the key from one box and left it in another; never saw a living soul. There was no food, and no fridge in the room, and 20 minute walk to nearest breakfast place. And no desk in the rom. But it was cheap.

We had an amazing experience staying at the Allison House 17. We booked the room with en-suite bathroom and nice view on the hills. Tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood, yet, it was just a short 15-minute walk to the city centre, making it convenient for exploring the city. The housekeeping staff ensured that our room was tidied up every day, making our stay comfortable and hassle-free. I’m audition to the serene location and stunning view, there were plenty of shops and pubs nearby, adding to the convenience of our stay.
