Courtyard by Marriott St. Joseph-Benton Harbor

Basically, the staff was pleasant and they responded to requests we made. It was a family trip and I booked two other rooms for our sons and families. They did issue us the wrong room key and confused our son's room with ours. There was also a broken dresser drawer in our room. Also, I called the front desk because we could not get our thermostat to respond. They said we weren't operating it properly but there was no reading on the thermostat and the problem was never resolved. Luckily the weather was temperate, and we didn't need heating. Overall, the room was clean and quiet with ample parking.

Our stay was perfectly fine. The rooms were very spacious and well appointed. The services available were fine, although we didn't take advantage of them. The patio area was outstanding and we spent a few hours outside playing cards. There was a fire table that others took advantage of.

The hotel was nice, clean, and new. The pool was small. The area did not have much to offer. The hotel is by a dead mall and close to the highway.

Near shopping areas. Had electric car plugs for my car.

The staff was very friendly and courteous. The hotel was super clean and welcoming. The pool is quite small. In the pictures it looks big plus it was out of order when we were there. That was not a big downside for us though.

The facility was clean and spacious. I was not surprised but a little disappointed that there was no complimentary breakfast. I enjoy the fire pits at the Courtyards but was a little disappointed that it was only on for a limited time.

Hotel itself was fine . Nothing exceptional for the price though . Pool was disgusting & terrible which is sad day because that’s why we stayed there over the other options. Batista was rude

I had a great experience at this hotel. The room was comfortable, the lobby was nice, parking was easy and well lit. Staff member Tennellle was incredibly helpful and pleasant even at 7:00 in the morning.

Refrigerator in room broke(; it almost fell off counter. Beds very uncomfortable. Pool dirty, no towels available by pool or fitness room. The room itself was nice but only 2 small drawers. Staff extremely friendly and professional. Enjoyed the courtyard with fire pit. Location very close to silver beach and other activities. Just a tad disappointed with it being a Marriott but would stay again.

Very convenient location to the highway. A little bit of a drive into the town, but not a big deal to us. Property was nice and clean. Really liked the room. Had an EV charger which we used. If you like a hidden gem restaurant with unique food, definitely try Houndstooth in Benton Harbor! Amazing!

Room wasn’t vacuumed. Moved rooms. I picked blueberries off the floor in that room. So disappointing. I have stayed here several times. I will be changing hotels for my trips to the area.

Not getting a basic room re-set was not great. Came into a slightly and incomplete cleaned room as it was. Dirty/used tissues and food stuffed in the pull out couch. Then, didn’t turn down the bed, take out trash or get new towels.

All the staff was very professional and helpful and it was one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. If I ever find myself in this area again, this is where I plan on staying.

Also, the site mentions a Starbucks but it was extremely limited and the staff at the front desk have to come over to make the coffee. Seemed a little silly. Room could have been cleaner. We found a few ants in the room. But hotel other wise was very clean from what we saw. Not sure id stay at this Marriott location again.

We got to our room and started to put things away. Found out the fridge did not work and while checking to see if it was plugged in I found food, socks, water bottles, and trash behind the desk under the TV. I have a picture of needed.

The guests above our room were so loud and inconsiderate, that we actually left at midnight. There were small bugs on the bathroom floor and the bathrooms floor was still soiled from the previous guests.

The room was clean and the desk staff was polite.

Not a bad stay except that our room did not get cleaned even once during our three-day stay. When we called the desk about it after the first day, we were told you have to ask to have your room cleaned. We explained that we ran into a woman cleaning the room across from us and asked her to make sure to clean our room and she did she would. But no one did. So our garbage piled up as did our dirty towels. We complained again after day two but were told they were busy.

Lost my reservation and then didn’t have available what I reserved and gave me different but wouldn’t give me a discount for it. Front desk was rude. Asked her to call when my original room would be available and never received a call or an apology. Bed was so uncomfortable and pillows were beyond flat it’s like they didn’t exist. Could hear every little bit of noise from hallways and rooms next door all night long. Barely slept a wink my entire stay. Housekeeping never came to replenish anything or clean at all. Called for more towels and apparently they ran out of towels for the entire hotel. Just ridiculous

I consider a Courtyard Marriott to be a higher end hotel. The $250+ rate per evening confirms that suspicion. With that, I anticipate an extremely comfortable mattress, super clean room, and exceptional service. My experience did not quite match those expectations. The major flaw for me was the mattress. This appears to be a newer construction hotel but the mattress felt like it was many years old. It dipped in the middle and offered very little comfort or support. This was very disappointing as the primary use of a hotel room is the bed. The front desk person at check-in was very unprofessional. Not just in her looks, but also in her demeanor, lack of eye contact, not greeting us, not stopping personal conversation with coworker, etc. It was just a bad first impression. But I realize it's hard to staff such positions so it's fine--just not what I was expecting. The room was very clean. We did not request housekeeping during our 3 night stay, but we met the housekeeping staff in the hallway. They were very kind and helpful. We visit St Joseph/Benton Harbor often. I wanted a stay at a higher end hotel. We will likely not stay here again because it feels overpriced for an uncomfortable bed and average service.

The person who checked us in was nice and personable but checked our son and my wife and I into each other's rooms. We could not get the thermostat to work and it did not throughout our stay but when we called they told us we were not using it properly but there was no reading on the device. Also, very small dresser, with two small drawers was broken.

It would be nice to have more storage room in the bathroom.

The property itself is very nice and modern. The entire property was clean and well maintained. The property is also very quiet. No noise from upper floors or outside. The room was nice but, wasn’t very big. The size was for ok 2 people but, would be cramped for more than that. The room views aren’t great but, for the price, it’s tolerable. It’s about a 10 minute trip to downtown St Joe, which isn’t bad. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

This property felt brand new. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. No complaints. perfect stay.

The Hotel within itself was ok but we were on the second floor and all you heard around 2-4 was ppl running down the hallway

It was a good experience except guests near us were very loud and were throwing objects around late at night. Thought there was some kind of bar brawl going on in the room.

The customer service was awful. The front desk attendant, Brittney wasn’t very friendly; very serious, quiet.

It is always clean and the staff is always helpful

The only problem was with the computers. Unable to print key cards for 2 days which was out of the control of the staff. And they could have had more than one person to check in and that person had to let u into your room

I called the morning of and someone at the front desk said we could check it at 7 a.m. if we were in town or we could come check in as soon as we arrive. We arrived around 10 and were told we couldn’t check in until 3. Several other guests had the same experience and we had to change in the bathrooms in the lobby to get ready for weddings. When we were able to check in in the evening, we were not pointed in the direction of the elevators so we went the wrong way and had to walk around the hotel lobby to find them. The person that gave us our keys just gave the keys and didn’t say anything else. For breakfast, there was only 1 person working. She was great, but people had to wait a while because she would take the order and then go back and make it before moving on to the next customer. We also went to check out and there was nobody at the front desk. There were 4 staff members on the deck sitting with each other but nobody was inside to help. Overall, the hotel was clean and modern, we were just very inconvenienced by the check in and out process.

Software outage made for getting in and out of the room a pain. The staff was great.

Check in with Kendall was effortless. He is an outstanding employee, super helpful, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. My friends and I had an excellent stay to attend our 55th class reunion. Definitely will be back to Marriott Courtyard for our 60th or maybe sooner! Thank you to Kendall and all the super staff.

Stayed one night . 5 miles to the beach. A Walmart right next door

Good location

Very clean and relatively close to Lake Michigan beaches. Just wish there were more restaurants nearby and wish the area felt a little safer.

Customer service was excellent Was disappointed in restaurant not being opened due to staffing. Should of had information of local eateries and distance to Lake Michigan n

This was peak season and we paid that price. I would have expected some very basic amenities to be provided like coffee/tea in the morning as well as daily maid service for the price. If you are charging the price, provide some services. Your little cards disclosure on your practices are all ok when its not peak season. People expect to be treated a little bit better when you're paying premium rates.

Would like free coffee available/ staff was excellent- the bistro was understaffed in evening just one super nice gentleman working and it seemed like they had just updated their menus so the staff and food quality were excellent but the time it took could use some improvements. The same experience in the morning while purchasing Starbuck drinks.

The room was clean but there was no breakfast of any kind

Room was clean and comfortable, staff was amazing; the only downfall is they don’t offer continental breakfast. They have a bistro to order meals from and a Starbucks. The hotel was located right behind Walmart and seemed safe.

Easy peasy check in but bar/restaurant wasn’t open

I liked everything about this hotel. Clean and comfortable beds and pillows. I was disappointed that they don’t have a continental breakfast- no free coffee ( had to buy Starbucks in the lobby)

Excellent property. Very convenient to where we needed to be. The mini golf nearby is not to be missed it looks closed but is in fact open and very nice and fun for something to do. We enjoyed everything except for breakfast not being opened until 7am on Sunday morning. My son was playing in a lacrosse tournament and needed to depart for the field by 6:45am. We were thinking picking a little something up at the inside restaurant would be no problem. Other families were also in the same boat. My son ate peanut m&M's from the concession shop for breakfast instead. Yes, I should have packed something but we were rushing and I thought "oh we're at a great hotel, it will be no problem." For the cost there has to be better response to customers needs.

Clean facility near dining, shopping and beach. Noted that staff at certain times of day managed both the Front Desk and Coffee Bar. One staffer seemed annoyed at request to make Starbucks coffee. Otherwise, stay was excellent.
