I’ve been reserving rooms at the Curly Redwood since the early 90s. Being a motorcycle rider, it’s great having Covered parking. I always appreciate the staff accommodating my request to have a room close to where the office is so that I’m further away from the highway that passes through.

We stayed here for one night recently. The beds and pillows are old and uncomfortable. The sheets are polyester. There is a dank, moldy smell. This is not worth what we paid for it. Not getting a good nights sleep is the reason for the rating.

The room was damp and musty. The check in was not easy. They have you stand outside in the misty rain and open a side window to check in. They appear to be a family that runs the place and lives in office. Bed was okay but couldn’t sleep due to wet feeling in room. They need a dehumidifier! Bathroom was not very big or nice. Shower door would not stay shut but that’s okay because it Felt like showering in a coffin.

Then staff we interacted with were very nice and professional. The room itself was retro and clean, but upon inspecting the mattress, it was stain covered and gross. The location of the motel is convenient, but in an area that felt unsafe. Saw quite a few unhoused people walking around across the street.

The Curly is a charming place that has been under relatively new owners who have made various upgrades: new windows (lessening the noise from trucks) and reconfiguring the corner-shaped showers and sinks. Needed: brighter interior lighting along with upgraded chairs and furniture on which to lay out bags. Bring along 3-prong extension cords as electrical outlets are limited. We love the individualized carports and proximity to a very good restaurant.

This retro stay was everything it advertised! The mid century modern debut was spot on and our room was much larger than your average room. The original wood paneling and decor appropriate furniture were awesome. The bathroom was nicely renovated but small. The exterior door used an actual key which was a bit if a safety concern along with exterior subdued that needed to stay open to provide air flow since no ac. However felt safe and location was great across from marina. One warning if you’re a light sleeper. There is a faint horn in the distance coming from marina that sounds every 6 seconds. Did not keep me awake but may some if window needs to be opened. I’d definitely stay here again.

I stay in C.City often for work, and this motel intrigued me on my way to and from other lodgings. I decided to give it a whirl. Front desk staff was very pleasant, despite a busy check-in period. My room was on the second level, and I needed to get back onto the street and drive around the back of the building. Kind of some sketchy woods back there, but my car never got messed with. They really lean into the whole ‘1960s Motor Lodge’ theme, with faux-vintage appliances, etc, in the room. The ‘bathtub’ was tiny, like a dog washing tub-size, kind of hilarious. Nice Keurig in the bathroom. Seemed clean enough. Pretty near the highway, and car noise audible from within the room. I’m surprised with how many 10/10 reviews the place has; it’s fine enough for a night, but how can people possibly think this place is ‘best of the best’??

At Check in the lady that checked us in said there is a $300 fee for security, I told her that they have never ever charged me that before, I told her last time it was $40. She says no that it’s always been between $100 and $300 and they could refuse service to whomever they choose. I said well if you have to charge could you at least do the $100 she said no I’ll do $300. I asked to speak with the manager and she refused. I suggested they state in the rental section that they can charge up to $300 for deposit and she said again that she could refuse service to anyone. She was very very rude and unwelcoming

You have your own personal parking spot right in front of your room. You get a real key not some plastic cars that you have to worry about being by your phone. The heater works really well and the room also has a airpurifier in it for you to use. Right across the street is a deliouce restaurant. We went there for the breakfast but looked like they had good dinner options as well. The harbor is right across the street as well. The mystical trees are 14 miles down the 101 as well so very cool the room is so close to the beach and the trees!

This motel is a classic and we loved the charm of it. It was conveniently located to the redwoods without all the congestion. Bed was comfy and it had what we needed for our 1 night. Recommend going to the pier to see the seals.

Older motel that was clean. No air conditioner but was on the second floor and opened the window. If you are sensitive to road noise there is a fan in the room that creates a distraction. Our drapes didn’t fully close and was glad I had my sleeping mask as the parking lot lights was bright. Reported it to staff when we checked out. The price was reasonable and was good for a one night stay. Breakfast was good at the restaurant across the street.

Very spacious and complete room with desk area and lots of windows and light. Highway was loud. No blow dryer in room or coffee in lobby. Extremely clean and up-to-date. Felt very safe, and dining options were nearby.

We were able to visit the Grove of the Titans from the Lodge. We love the beautiful Redwood in the rooms and the story of building it in 1957. And the food at Good Harvest Cafe is delicious!! We could not see the TV from bed but the microwave and refrigerator were handy.

Extremely easy parking and easy to see your vehicle from your room. Dinning is right across the street or just down to the next block. We can see the marina from our room and got to see the fog come in and out. Our room was super clean and checking in was a breeze. Only thing i would like to see changed is the TV placement for the room but that is just asthetics.
