Rooms were great although the WiFi stopped working and the tv for our baby. We were given another room three hours later with no a/c circulation which was ridiculous hot.

Stayed 5 nights

We stayed 5 nights/6 days at the Grand Sunset Princess (Platinum level) in a Platinum Plunge Pool Suite for nearly $3,000. The recent remodel made the grounds and aesthetic look fresh and upscale, but major problems with food, beach, spa, and medical support made the trip frustrating and not worth the price. Food was the biggest letdown. À la carte restaurants were hard to book and disappointing. We relied on buffets, which were picked over quickly — quality dropped fast if you didn’t arrive early. Room service was bland. On our last day I suffered severe food poisoning (vomiting, nausea, diarrhea) likely from the buffet eggs. When I called for medical help, the resort’s response was slow and unhelpful. They checked vitals but pushed me to go to the hospital for IV fluids with little immediate support. I managed with electrolytes from a local taxi driver instead, but it was miserable right before our flight. The beach was disappointing — heavy seaweed, erosion, exposed palm tree roots, and a rocky shoreline with no regular cleanup. The spa was ruined by loud construction hammering directly above during our $300 massage and facial. Staff offered a complimentary session afterward, but for the price it felt unacceptable. On the positive side, the staff were excellent — For nearly $3,000, I’d look elsewhere if good dining, a pleasant beach, and reliable support are important. The hardworking staff were the true highlight, but the other issues made the stay frustrating.

Had the best experience at this resort! Would highly recommend it and if you stay in a villa, you’ll be treated likely royalty. Carla made our stay so memorable! Thank you!
