The Elizabeth House Hotel

My primary reason for booking was the advertised EV charging facilities, the hotels primary business seems to be cruise parking, so the car parks are always overfull. It therefore seems an active policy to ICE the EV spaces, a big 4x4 blocking both spaces on my visit. Your chances of spaces being available are non existent with hotels current policy. Room was little warn, the cleanliness of bathroom requiring some attention.

Parking was a nightmare. They store cars for people on cruises so everything was double parked. Room was fine, clean. Its quite a walk into town about 20 mins at best. Ok for one night.

The only issue with this property is the stairs. This is a group of old buildings and while the interior of the rooms have been redone and are very nice, the stairs are very narrow and steep and difficult to manage with luggage.

Be aware that there is no elevator for your luggage. Otherwise, recommended. Good communication.

The property is well serviced by public transport. Parking is well organized and available for cruise ship guest. Connection to and the airport by public transport was easy .

Very friendly and helpful staff. We have a campervan and able to park in their associated car park in adjacent building and plenty of room. We had one of the rooms in the extension which was lovely and clean and warm. Easy 20 min walk to Guildhall for our gig and plenty of pubs and eateries en route and a huge variety. Breakfast was really good. A great stay and would definitely come back when visiting Southampton without a doubt!!

Friendly staff, clean room.

The location was good for the city centre, and it was useful to have free parking on-site. The decor was a little tired and my room smelled a bit of smoke, but bathroom & sheets were clean.

Friendly and efficient service. Clean and comfortable. Close enough to the centre of the city but far enough away for a calm and quiet stay.

Three issues : 1. Poor service in breakfast in which a waitress keeps saying you can't do this and that (can't take an extra bread, no can't swap this sausage). And then says time of breakfast is up - leave. 2. In the room, the carpet is very dirty. Can't walk barefoot. 3. No shower curtains. In short, no value of money.

Clean tidy room, nicely decorated, good amenities and lovely staff.

Staff were lovely. Property could do with a makeover, dated and lack of finishing touches. Inside of chest of drawers had broken plywood placed inside, bit weird. Could provide water in room, some cushions and throws as seen in pictures on website, as bit sparse and basic. Bar area downstairs was tiny and was closed on our second night. Reception said only open if lots of cruise customer's in !! So not accommodating all customers which was bizarre. However, that said it was clean and did us fine for 2 nights.

Great hotel. Very comfortable bed. Room cleanliness excellent. Good breakfast options to suit all. Price spot on for what I needed. Will book again if in the area.

Very nice place. Only stayed one night prior to a cruise but the room was extremely comfortable and spacious. I loved the room. Big windows that open and chairs to sit at the window. Bathroom was huge. The staff were amazing. Thus includes the young lads working the breakfast room. I would recommend and I would stay here again. Quick taxi ride to the port

The furniture was dated & poor. There was no wardrobe, just a wobbly clothes rail, and the bedside lamp shades were also loose. Overall the room decoration felt dated and badly in need of a refurbishment. However, the staff were excellent - very friendly & attentive.

Stayed for three nights (Sunday through Tuesday). The hotel has a great location but being on the Avenue in Southampton means that the traffic noise is awful particularly if your room is on the front of the building. The rooms are dated but clean as were the linen and towels. The breakfast was good and the coffee excellent. The evening meal was uninspiring. The staff are incredibly polite, friendly and helpful and cannot be faulted.

The hotel is located quite far from the city center. The station of the airport bus is nearby. The reception is closed during the night, but there is a night guard available. The free WiFi connection is fast. The room has a view to a parking area. It is quite cold in the room. The bed is large and comfortable. There is tea maker in the room. The ventilator is the bathroom is noisy and cannot be turned off manually.

Don't expect much. Room very basic and tired. Furniture worn out years ago and now they just look sad. Breakfast is very good though. I do understand that they do business on people who are boarding the cruise ships, but please invest some money into the hotel

The staff was very friendly. Rooms were ok, beds were hard to sleep on and no AC. Dinner options were limited and overall not that great. Would recommend eating elsewhere. As we were on a cruise, it was a convent place to be.

Stayed for 1 night before a cruise. Checked in late, around 11:30pm. They had sent a message that reception closes at 10pm, and a porter is around until 11:30pm, who checked me. But after that, there's no one manning the reception desk for anythin. That should be clearly notified. The property has no elevator, so carrying 5 bags up the flight of stairs was not fun. The rooms don't have any air conditioner, had to use a fan in the room to get some breeze going. Location was good, staff was attentive. But I wouldn't stay here again unless I had no other option.

Stayed here one night before cruise, parked the car and picked it up after cruise ended. we had a lovely breakfast. The room was new and very clean and comfortable. Would recommend the hotel to others and have already booked to return. Took the bus into town of the morning after breakfast, stops are outside so not far to walk.

The Elizabeth House Hotel in Southampton was fantastic. The staff were so pleasant to deal with and had great senses of humour, a welcome attribute. The property was in great shape, very clean and welcoming. The bar and restaurant onsite was really nice and cozy. We sat out back in the garden a had drinks before dinner and it was just lovely. I can't emphasize enough that the staff were just great, from the front desk to the restaurant all were just fantastic. The room we had was lovely, very comfortable and very clean. We stayed here one night before our cruise and wished we could have stayed longer. We will be back.

The staff were very friendly, and very helpful! They were all very organised, with our luggage, parking and sorting out a taxi for us in the morning!! Room was very big and clean! We will definitely be using this hotel again in future visits! Would highly recommend it!

We could not figure out shower curtain, climbing stairs with heavy luggage was tough for seniors- we asked for help (per sign) and was told there was none. The place has a restaurant and bar and I asked if I could buy a bottle of water and was told I could cross the street and go for a walk to a place for water. It should be pointed out that there are steep stairs and no lift. Person at reception had no compassion whatsoever. Would not return. The servers at breakfast were nice and the breakfast was very good.

Receptionist on arrival (Aimee?) was lovely, knowledgable and utterly customer focussed. Great staff member.

Really friendly, professional staff who were courteous. We received a warm welcome when we arrived from the lady on reception. She was also our server at breakfast and was excellent. Really lovely cooked breakfast and a good selection of other breakfast options to choose from. Would recommend.

Great budget hotel for before/after a cruise out of Southampton. My room in the main building was comfortable with a modern bathroom, everything was clean and the staff were all friendly. Easy to get to on the public bus routes.

The Commons is very close and a great place to walk. Only a 30 minute walk to West Quay mall.

Whilst Jamie, who greeted us when we checked in, Daphne (in the bar) and all the staff we encountered were incredibly friendly and professional, unfortunately the vegan meal options were not the same as those promised when making our booking. I specifically stated that I am vegan and also that I cannot have anything spicy. I was assured there would be "plenty of options". In the evening there was only one vegan option; a bean chilli. Daphne and Jamie spoke with the chef who first rustled up an ariabati sauce which was too acidic for me causing much discomfort after only a small taster. Then a vegan Bolognese was produced. Fortunately this was fine, albeit not especially well seasoned. A similar issue occurred in the morning for breakfast. I checked that, as promised when booking, the sausages with the vegetarian breakfast (ordered without eggs) were vegan to initially be told they were NOT! After checking with the kitchen they discovered they did have some vegan sausages after all. Whilst we did get there in the end, it was frustrating that after making it clear when booking, and again when checking in, that I am vegan and cannot eat spicy food, we had quite a task obtaining something suitable for me to eat. We were also not impressed to have to sit and listen to Emmerdale on the TV in the bar whilst eating our evening meal!. Also, our bathroom sink was too close to the toilet, and the bed was too high and side tables too low so the height differences were awkward.

Very clean hotel. We ate at their restaurant, the food was very good. We had the omelette and steak and ale pie. Bar/restaurant had good, happy vibe as most guests, including us, we going on a cruise the next day. Staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful.

Our stay here again was very comfortable. Left the car here while we went on a cruise. As we stayed on a Sunday the hotel restaurant wasnt open, but we eat out up the road which was fine.

A gorgeous property with character. All the facilities we needed, a lovely large bedroom and large bathroom, at a really good price for a city. Free parking! The breakfast was fabulous. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It is convenient for the theatre. We will stay again.
