Stayed 1 week in late April in modified studio ("one bedroom open plan suite") at about $300/night. For that rate, I expected A LOT more. As another reviewer pointed out, it the hotel is very stingy. Asking for more coffee pods is not uncommon and providing liquid soap but no washcloths is just silly. Positive Staff is very friendly and helpful Luggage storage if needed but we were able to check in early as our room was ready Bed comfortable Room/bathroom very clean Some food is available in the hotel Hot water Safe available in room Small dishwasher Small combo washer/dryer Small refrigerator Blackout shades C-usb connections by bedstand Good wifi Negative Shower/tub is a bit difficult to get out of as it is deep and the only handhold is the towel rack No washcloths are provided!!! Very cool vibe, friendly staff, welcoming to all ages. Convenient location: less than 10 minutes to groceries (fridge, stove, microwave in room), same distance to underground station, even less to bus stops (one right outside the door), lots of places to eat within walking distance (a pub, fast food, breakfast/lunch, ethnic cuisine). Laundry facilities a wonderful feature. Also a restaurant on the ground floor for breakfast as well as pizza, and a small cafe area in the lobby. Very close to Design Museum (10 minute walk), V&A and Hyde Park (both 2 stops on underground or short bus ride). Everything you might want to do is reachable.

Great stay, comfortable and well designed room. Warm friendly welcome. The ac didn’t work but it was very cold outside so we opened the window. Ambient temperature in the room was too warm for sleeping otherwise. Apart from this perfect stay, clean well appointed room and super quiet. Gym is a bit sparse so wouldn’t bother with this.

Great location, fun vibe in the lobby with cafe, working spaces, and a great pizza pop up while I was there. Handy for longer stays with Miele professional grade washers and dryers in the basement along with detergent pods. 1 of 2 lifts was broken the whole week I was there which could be pretty annoying. Bed was pretty lumpy and not comfortable, toilet flush didn't work quite right, and the shower head could only be set at certain angles which were either too vertical or too horizontal for me. Shower also wouldn't drain quick enough so after a 5min shower you were standing in ankle deep water. I did raise this but didn't see improvement. Kitchenette was great for cooking small meals for 1 or 2. Definitely would stay again but there is room for improvement.

The Ember Locke Kensington offers several lounge areas to sit and read quietly or enjoy a drink. There is also a lovely and spacious garden area for guests’ enjoyment. Our room included a washer and dryer all-in-one unit which was handy. Laundry detergent is provided. There is also a small fridge, microwave, and induction cooktop. Bath soap and shampoo is provided, but not body lotion which would have bee appreciated. Our room was on two levels, with the kitchen, seating area, and shower on the lower floor, and the beds, dresser, and half-bath on the upper floor. Beds are large and comfortable. Our only complaint is that there is not adequate lighting. A bright light in the lower seating area is needed to be able to read comfortably once the sun goes down. A mirror in the half-bath would have been much appreciated.

Had an amazing stay! 10/10. the staff was so kind and helpful, the restaurant was great and the hotel itself was wonderful. Also LOVED the location. The gym was also 10/10! Higly recommend.

I had a very nice stay at Ember Locke Kensington. The decor in the hotel, and in the rooms themselves, is excellent. The room was comfortable with good air conditioning and was very comfortable. I made use of the kitchenette. Only complaint is that one elevator was down and the elevator that was working was a bit dirty and could have used a food cleaning.

Great location. Easy access to subway station. Too bad the courtyard was closed for renovation during our stay though. Wonderful, helpful, enthusiastic staff.

Quite simply, this is a fantastic hotel in an excellent location. The pictures included in the listing are accurate. The common areas and the two rooms we had were exactly what we expected. There is even a free laundry (with washing powder) by the fitness room! A bus stop out front, a 20 minute loading zone for cars just a few yards away and loads of restaurants and shops surrounding the Earls Court Tube station just a 3 minute walk down the street. The hotel had many amenities and activities on, and was always buzzing with people in the bar and lobby. It felt safe and fun and the staff was pleasant and inviting. A real gem of a hotel that I will definitely seek out on my next trip to London. I would offer one small piece of advice to any future visitor: Although the rooms have heat, they do not have cooling (not unusual for UK rooms). We were there in March and could just crack the window for some air but if you were to visit in the warmer months, you may want to inquire about a fan.

Overall our stay was fabulous and the hotel is very unique and quirky. We arrived 3 hours early to drop our bags off and John at the reception allowed us to check in which was much appreciated. In fact his service and friendliness were outstanding during our short stay. Our studio room was lovely and spacious and we loved how it was decorated. We had cocktails at the bar in the evening which was lively and the staff were very helpful. The onsite gym was also very good with plenty of equipment. The only issues during our stay were firstly that there were no towels in the gym and also they seemed under staffed at breakfast. We waited a long time for our coffee and food but the food itself was excellent when it did arrive. We would definitely stay again as the location was also excellent.

Unfortunately we stayed for 2 nights and had no hot water for the entirety of the stay. I mean it was bitter cold and I actually cried when trying to shower to get clean it was so bad. I informed them the first morning but when we arrived back that night, it was still not sorted and when I tried to get further help from reception, there was actually only a security guard available and was unable to help. Whilst staff were friendly and nice, I feel this experience is totally unacceptable!

I have been wanting to stay at Ember Locke for quite some time due to the good reviews and quiet location in South Kensington compared to the city centre of London. The hotel is in close walking distance to Earls Court (5min walk), where the tube takes you pretty much anywhere you want to go in London. The hotel itself is cozy and very welcoming. I like the design and orangey theme they have. The staff is kind and helpful but very slow, bring time and patience. We arrived late on a Friday evening close to midnight. We were given an upgrade with two adjacent rooms on the lower ground floor, which was a nice gesture I thought. When we got to the room one of the bathrooms had an awful smell, which I believed to have come from the drains. Nothing unusual on the lower ground in an old building but to my shock the bathroom hasn’t been cleaned properly! We resorted to the second room, where the towels had been used in the bathroom as well. To make the story short, I didn’t feel comfortable after that initial experience and got very picky lolloping around the room, the curtains very dusty, headboards not cleaned. We had two single beds as one, the toppers could need a proper shaking, the mattress was too hard for me and the pillows felt like a rock. Overall I am not happy with the stay but we were given complementary breakfast for one morning.

You need to check their negative feedback too before making decision. This property is not a typical hotel! They do house keeping once a week only. I stay 5 nights and I need to ask for clean towel, toilet paper almost everyday. No garbage collecting as well! There is no phone in the room and you need to go down to reception in case you need anything. The room is very dark and it is not very convenient. The breakfast is ok but look at the condition of the toast served. I will find another hotel next time.

Let’s start with the fact that there is no outside light to the building. Not great for security. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Ground floor amenities were satisfactory. Issues: Not pre-informed that there was no daily housekeeping for room. The bed was up against one wall making it near impossible for that person to easily get in and out of bed. The room lighting was poor. Mold in the shower. Had a sink, hotplate, dishes etc but no dish soap or dish towels. By our experience with 4 star hotels, Ember Locke did not come close. At best, it was a low 3. The one reason we picked a hotel over an ABNB was because we were expecting daily housekeeping and lack of this was very disappointing. We would have chosen elsewhere had we known.

I’ve stayed here twice in the last month. The design and common areas are very cute, they’ve done a nice job with it. However the plumbing has some very significant issues. The toilets do not adequately flush, the shower drains extremely slowly, and in order to get hot water for the top floor you must run the water at least 20 minutes. Yes, that was really the solution the front desk offered. For us it took 24 minutes to get warm enough water (not hot) to take a shower. Another guest had water overflowing in her room while I was there, so the plumbing issue is wide spread. I really hope they are able to address these issues because it could be a nice, fun place if the plumbing was sorted.

We booked this hotel as it was advertised as a four star property. I checked the reviews before booking and people on Expedia seemed happy with the property, so I booked the family room. I was concerned with heat and noise so I made sure the property is air conditioned and I checked with the hotel to see whether we can get a garden view room but was told all family rooms were street facing. On the day of check-in we had some hiccups with our travel and were late for check in. We were contacted by the property that if we don’t check in by midnight our reservation will be released! I explained the situation and was assured we will have our room. When we arrived at the property (about 1am) we were led to the basement!!! And were told all family rooms are in the basement! I have never been to a hotel (let alone a 4 star one) with rooms in the basement. The family room was just two interconnecting rooms, so I am not sure why they are only in the basement! The room was dark, dated and unclean; one toilet paper was heavily stained! It wasn’t that they didn’t notice it, the solid toilet paper was folded in the roll!! There were crumbs on the floor and stains on the carpet. We had no option but to stay the night. Early in the morning I got in contact with Expedia to help us cancel the booking as we booked for 3 nights. We were told the room was cancelled for the two future nights but we had to pay for the one night. We stayed at the Royal gardens Kensington for the same price!!!

Dusty room, unable to individually control temp of room which (in Dec) ended up being far too warm at times. Did not feel comfortable opening the window to cool it down since it was in the first floor. Was offered a dust-covered fan which did help some. The toilets in the rooms struggled to flush so toilet paper would stay in the bowl. On the plus side, the towels were soft and fluffy. The shower had great water pressure. There is no manual on how to operate the washer/dryer or microwave. I did manage to figure both out thankfully. I didn’t watch any television since it was located downstairs versus the more logical location of in the bedroom.

Ember Locke- very bare bones. I did NOT realize this was essentially a self service hotel meaning- no room cleaning, no room trash pick up, no fresh towels... no service what so ever. I stayed there with my best friend 4 nights and five days. I had to go down to the front desk twice to request toilet paper. Each time they would only give me a single roll each time- stingy. I had to request a fresh towel twice in order to get one. There one was VERY small recycling and trash can in the room. Trash filled up very quickly. I asked the front desk where I could dispose of it and they said put it in the hallway. I did but the next morning it was still there. It took 24 hours for it to be taken away. If you did wanted sheets changed or room cleaned you had to pay for it. Each room had two cups, two plates, two forks, two very shallow bowls. The dish towel provided smelled sour. There was a washing machine on premise but you had to download an app to use it and pay (per front desk) 5 pounds each use (that's 7 USD). Soap in room lasted one day then ran out as bottle was not full. This was considered part of housekeeping and was not refilled. For this reason I didn't love it- I didn't realize that it was "self service" at the cost of a proper hotel. That said the design was cute although it will soon need a refresh by whatever firm they used.

Overall a very positive experience. However, as an older person, I found the narrow, spiral staircase to enter the bedroom level a challenge. I was so afraid that I would fall- suitcases had to stay on the first level- carrying them up would have been a challenge to me and my 27 year old daughter. Perhaps a statement in the room descriptions would be helpful. As mentioned in other reviews, lighting was dark in some areas of the unit. Other than that- it was a nice stay.

Lovely hotel in a convenient location a short walk from Earls Court tube station. Very pleasant and helpful staff and plenty of them to assist. Nice bar area. The soundproofing in the room was excellent no noise from the busy Cromwell Rd outside. Air conditioning worked well. The room had a small kitchen area which could be screened off with a curtain which we didn’t use but was a nice feature. Clean bathroom with toiletries. Please note that you need photo ID when checking in. This wasn’t clear when making the reservation but fortunately I had a photo of my passport on my phone otherwise there may have been a problem.

I booked a larger room with a booth/desk work space and a small kitchenette. The room was very quiet and comfortable. The hotel is nice -- very stylish. They appear to be a Soho House light with coworking space and decor. I usually stay in Soho or Marylebone, and this for me, was a bit off the beaten path but was tube accessible - it just took a bit to get to where I wanted to go. The price was right for the stay. If you're looking for something solid at a good price, I think this is a good option.

Unique decor that looks just like the photos; well-equipped (especially the kitchenette); bed was comfortable; everything was clean. Great location — had a bus stop right outside, was within walking distance to multiple Tube stations (including Earl’s Court, which offers step-free access and was one direct trip from Heathrow Airport via the Piccadilly Line). Also within a stone’s throw of Earl’s Court Road, with plenty of supermarkets and restaurants. Room lighting was just a bit too dim for my liking, otherwise had a wonderful stay.

Location is great! Lots of food options within 5 minutes of walk. Piccadilly Line directly to Earl's Court (8 minutes walk) from LHR Terminal 2 in 45 minutes. (My first time taking the underground from LHR due to traffic jam at airport.) Staff is very friendly and nice. One big flaw is the room is very dark as mentioned by many other reviewers. The room is painted in dark color, with insufficient lighting, so not bright enough. Bed is nice a firm and sheets are clean. However, housing keeping only done if you stay for more than 7 days. (My experience is housing keeping is offered for 5 or more days, so the room can be refreshed every 3 days.) I booked the accessibility room. It was promoted as a larger room, but it did not mentioned it was half a floor below sidewalk, so the nature lighting into the room is very limited. On the other hand, if you like shower jet, this type of rooms has 8 shower jets for wheelchair bounded guests and they are nice to experience. Overall, I would consider staying there again due to the location and nice, firm, and clean bed. I would be a lot more motivated in bookint the place if the rooms are brighter with more lights, and they housing keeping is offered for 5 or more days.

Stayed here for 1 night solo. Very safe very cute. Only thing is that you weren’t able to adjust the temperature of the room. Had to open the windows for the room to cool down. Would stay again just maybe not in the hot summer months

I loved this stay! My friend and I visited for 3 nights from Australia, it was our first trip to London. Although the location is a little further out from the main sights of London we still found the quiet and pretty location of Kensington lovely. The hotel is gorgeous, small but so much thought has gone into the layout and decor. The staff were absolutely lovely, they made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay. Breakfast was included in our stay and they had a delicious menu to choose from. Our room was small, but comfortable. It had many great conveniences like a fridge, washer/dryer, kitchenette and more. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend to anyone who is not concerned about being right in the heart of London.

We stayed for a week and it was an excellent location! It is minutes walking distance to the circle, district and Piccadilly underground lines which will take you to rail stations, to head to the airport, downtown corrections including Westminster abbey, Big Ben, Buckingham etc, and has amazing staff! They were so helpful and informative- we were highly impressed! Highly recommend!

It was a beautiful hotel, very trendy and tastefully decorated. The room was clean and comfy and the staff were all friendly and helpful. My only comment would be that it takes a long time for breakfast - I had to wait 20 mins and ask twice for my daughter's croissant and it wasn't that busy. The previous day was a bit slow too. Maybe a buffet style would be better.

The Ember Locke in London is beautifully designed and super stylish, but the service was incredibly disappointing. When we arrived at 10:00 am after an overseas overnight flight, we asked for an early check-in to rest before a gala we were attending at 6:00 pm. The staff assured us they would prioritize cleaning our room and made it seem like they would take care of us. However, after waiting in the lobby for hours, we didn’t receive our keys until 3:55 pm—just five minutes before standard check-in time. It was clear no real effort was made to accommodate us. The room was amazing (besides a little dirt in the bathroom, barely noticeable but a bit weird once had noticed), the check in was easy, amenities great, we were super comfortable and loved the style and atmosphere. Service in the morning was a bit slow for breakfast so we waited a long time for coffee and food but besides that we had a really great time!

Overall our stay was fabulous and the hotel is very unique and quirky. We arrived 3 hours early to drop our bags off and John at the reception allowed us to check in which was much appreciated. In fact his service and friendliness were outstanding during our short stay. Our studio room was lovely and spacious and we loved how it was decorated. We had cocktails at the bar in the evening which was lively and the staff were very helpful. The onsite gym was also very good with plenty of equipment. The only issues during our stay were firstly that there were no towels in the gym and also they seemed under staffed at breakfast. We waited a long time for our coffee and food but the food itself was excellent when it did arrive. We would definitely stay again as the location was also excellent.

There is a girl who works at the cafe and breakfast who is not only totally incompetent. She was so disrespectful to me and my elderly companions. We were actually in shock because we have never experienced such poor service. Then the manger came out with another 2 men and started attacking us. Accusing us of being in the wrong. When this girl stuffed up constantly. She was nothing but RUDE and the way we were treated by her and the manager of the restaurant/cafe was wrong on so many levels. The shame is that the front desk staff were great. It was only this bad experience with this girl that ruined our stay and hence I won’t be back.

Let me start by saying George and John are the absolute best! I left my phone in the Uber and they quickly jumped in to assist. They were helpful with restaurant suggestions, transportation and directions. Every hotel should have a George and John! The Ember Locke was clean and a bit quirky (in the best way) and the coffee shop and restaurant are good as well. The hotel was a good walking distance to restaurants and the tube. Take time to sip a drink in the lovely garden out back! Cheers!

Convenient location: less than 10 minutes to groceries (fridge, stove, microwave in room), same distance to underground station, even less to bus stops (one right outside the door), lots of places to eat within walking distance (a pub, fast food, breakfast/lunch, ethnic cuisine). Laundry facilities a wonderful feature. Also a restaurant on the ground floor for breakfast as well as pizza, and a small cafe area in the lobby. Very close to Design Museum (10 minute walk), V&A and Hyde Park (both 2 stops on underground or short bus ride). Everything you might want to do is reachable.

Hotel was beautiful, great location to Earls Court tube stop and the service was also excellent. The only downside was that it was extremely hot in the corridor and our room was also really really warm. We had a thermostat, but I asked the desk how to work it and they said the heater is centrally controlled, so we had no way to adjust it. We had to sleep with the windows open. Our room faced the back of the hotel and there was not even a breeze, so it was hard to sleep in the heat. Hotel was beautiful, great location to Earls Court tube stop and the service was also excellent. The only downside was that it was extremely hot in the corridor and our room was also really really warm. We had a thermostat, but I asked the desk how to work it and they said the heater is centrally controlled, so we had no way to adjust it. We had to sleep with the windows open. We stayed for a week and it was an excellent location! It is minutes walking distance to the circle, district and Piccadilly underground lines which will take you to rail stations, to head to the airport, downtown corrections including Westminster abbey, Big Ben, Buckingham etc, and has amazing staff! They were so helpful and informative- we were highly impressed! Highly recommend!

Ember Locke Kensington was the perfect location for our family spring break. Quieter neighborhood to get good rest, close to Earl’s Court tube with three lines for quick connections through the city, a bus stop right in front of the hotel that’ll take you to the museums, and a Sainsbury’s around the corner to load up on groceries/snacks. Would definitely stay again!

It was a beautiful hotel, very trendy and tastefully decorated. The room was clean and comfy and the staff were all friendly and helpful. My only comment would be that it takes a long time for breakfast - I had to wait 20 mins and ask twice for my daughter's croissant and it wasn't that busy. The previous day was a bit slow too. Maybe a buffet style would be better.

This hotel has all the charm that you wish every other hotel could have. The colours, the plants, the vibrant life that exists within the walls of this hotel - all of it helped to make our stay feel like home away from home. We loved the aesthetic of the whole hotel. Our suite was quite spacious, and we took advantage of all the various sitting nooks to eat, drink coffee, or read. My one complaint was that the hotel seemed quite understaffed - particularly in the dining room/breakfast bar. We had to wait 20 minutes for menus, 30 minutes for our coffees, and another 20 minutes for the bill. This happened both times we opted to stay for the meal. While everything else about this hotel is wonderful, I would say that the food experience is only sub-par. The pastries don't taste all that fresh, and the service for sit-in dining is painfully slow. That being said, every interaction that we had with hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and fun. I would book here again!

The room was amazing (besides a little dirt in the bathroom, barely noticeable but a bit weird once had noticed), the check in was easy, amenities great, we were super comfortable and loved the style and atmosphere. Overall our stay was fabulous and the hotel is very unique and quirky. We arrived 3 hours early to drop our bags off and John at the reception allowed us to check in which was much appreciated. In fact his service and friendliness were outstanding during our short stay. Our studio room was lovely and spacious and we loved how it was decorated. We had cocktails at the bar in the evening which was lively and the staff were very helpful. The onsite gym was also very good with plenty of equipment. The only issues during our stay were firstly that there were no towels in the gym and also they seemed under staffed at breakfast. We waited a long time for our coffee and food but the food itself was excellent when it did arrive. We would definitely stay again as the location was also excellent.

Let me start by saying George and John are the absolute best! I left my phone in the Uber and they quickly jumped in to assist. They were helpful with restaurant suggestions, transportation and directions. Every hotel should have a George and John! The Ember Locke was clean and a bit quirky (in the best way) and the coffee shop and restaurant are good as well. The hotel was a good walking distance to restaurants and the tube. Take time to sip a drink in the lovely garden out back! Cheers!

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Ember Locke Kensington! The location is a five minute walk from the underground, grocery stores, restaurants, and pubs. Our apartment was great. The bathroom was large, we had a great kitchen with a decent sized refrigerator, sink, and stove top plus a microwave. Bistro dinette table by the window for a coffee. Loved being able to do our laundry while on an extended vacation. The staff was amazingly helpful and kind. Love the food in the restaurant and extremely appreciative of the gluten-free items offered. We would definitely stay here again!

When traveling in London, it is not always easy to find a family room. We were able to get a room with 2 true twin beds for each our kids, in addition to an adult bed. We opted to purchase the breakfast option, and we were not disappointed. The breakfast was delicious and huge. A great way to fuel up for the day of exploring London. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Earl's Court tube station, so very convenient to access all of London. I usually stay in more central London for work and was nervous that the hotel would be too far out to access my meetings easily, but that was not the case at all as it is on both the District and Piccadilly lines. The staff was lovely. Only thing to note is that they only service the room every 5 days, so if you have 2 boys like I do, you need to be mindful to keeping the room a bit tidy on your own. The staff will give you towels whenever you need them, however. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to any of my friends visiting London.
